Acceptance Testing in Agile Software Development - Perspectives from Research and PracticeNasir, Nayla January 2021 (has links)
Context: Acceptance testing is an important activity that verifies the conformance of a system to its acceptance criteria. It aims to provide a detailed communication of domain knowledge and is used to evaluate whether the customer requirements are met. Existing literature lacks empirical evidence for acceptance testing. Especially in the context of industry practice, it is not in the authors' consideration, except for a few studies, where the authors have investigated the state of practice in a specific domain. Objective: This study aims to recognize the state of research and practice of acceptance testing in Agile Software Development and investigate the similarities and differences in both perspectives. The study contributes to identify the industry-academia gap in the context of acceptance testing. Research Method: To identify the acceptance testing practices and challenges from research, I have conducted a literature review. For the industry perspective on acceptance testing practices and challenges, I have conducted an interview-based survey of the practitioners working in the Agile Software Development environment. I followed the snowball search strategy to search the primary studies, whereas to select the respondents, I used the convenience and snowball sampling method. For data analysis, I followed the approach of thematic synthesis. Results: The results of this thesis are the outcome of a literature review of 20 selected studies and an interview-based survey with 12 practitioners representing10 companies. I identified acceptance testing practices and challenges from research and industry. In the research, the most recommended form of acceptance testing is acceptance test-driven development (ATDD), and the majority of the studies are referring to the use of FIT for acceptance testing. Customer involvement in different phases of acceptance testing is recommended in research. From the interviews, I come across that acceptance testing is manual at large in the industry, and the most challenging aspect is the customer’s involvement. Conclusions: From the findings of this thesis, it is concluded that there is a gap between the research and industry perspective of acceptance testing practices. Currently, acceptance testing in the industry is mostly manual, the research is not focusing on this aspect of acceptance testing. Despite the differences, there are some commonalities as well. Especially, most challenges of acceptance testing are similar in both perspectives. Researchers have to consider the commonalities, and they have to look at how they can minimize the acceptance testing challenges from the perspective of the industry.

Applying digital twin technology in education and research : A case study of PTC automation lineAlsaleh, Abdlkarim January 2021 (has links)
This thesis work investigates the possibilities and limitations of using digital twin technology to create virtual automation lines which can be used in education and research to conduct automation labs virtually. The PTC automation line at University West has been used as a case study in this thesis. The digital twin created in this work consists of three key parts: a virtual model of the automation line created in Visual Components Premium 4.2, system control (PLC-control program) created in TwinCat 3, and a Beckhoff ADS communication protocol that connects the virtual model with the PLC program. Using a virtual model of industrial-like lab equipment in place of a real system can bring several benefits. It can increase visibility and safety in the system. It can also increase the accessibility of the system. Conducting virtual labs and experiments can also help in reducing the total cost of the system. The virtual twin of the automation line built in this work can be used to help the users to conduct automation labs and experiments virtually and to test their PLC programs offline.

Considering Administrative Roles and Alternative Career Paths in Academia: Is One Right for You?Smith, Rhianna M., Blackford, Ben, Combs, Gwendolyn, Harland, Lynn, Wells, Deborah, Juergens, Shannon, Gorman, C. Allen, Miles, Angela 11 October 2019 (has links)
In academia there are many ways to have a successful and meaningful career, but one—research -- often gets the bulk of the attention. This panel was assembled with the theme of the conference, “Developing the Whole Professor to Change the Organizational World,” to create a space for the conversation about alternative roles in academia, specifically administrative career options and choices. Sometimes an administrative career is part of a strategic career plan to advance outside of the traditional research-teaching-service role; for others, a situation arises and leadership is needed when a position needs to be filled. Whichever way you are called into administrative assignments, participants in this panel will share with you their motivations and concerns as they entered into administrative assignments. The panel includes current and former Dean’s, School Directors, Department Chairs, and Center Directors and was assembled to provide faculty and doctoral students at all career stages an opportunity to think beyond the traditional academic role as they consider their career in academia.

New Ways of Expanding University Collaborations at Mälardalen UniversityMalmkvist, Isabelle January 2023 (has links)
The topic of collaboration is delicate, several different factors are involved in making collaborations successful. The word successful is a charged word where it then implies success for everyone involved in this collaborative work. This thesis aims to investigate the notion of success by both academia and public sector in collaborations where academia plays a crucial part. The thesis descent from a critical realist standpoint where the purpose is to find the underlying mechanisms and structures of the events, in this case, within collaborative work. With a cross-sectional design the empirical data was collected through workshops with representatives from the public sector and publicly funded organisations and interviews were held with researchers, staff and students from Mälardalen University. The data was analysed through a thematic analysis with deductively generated themes. The theory the thematic analysis was based on consider subjects such as university third mission, quadruple helix, Involving businesses in education, Innovation intermediation, the multifaceted roles of innomediaries, the process and success of innomediaries, collaboration structures, spaces for collaboration, system approach, cross-boundary teams and the researcher’s role. Lastly, the results is a set of capabilities built upon the found underlying structures and mechanisms, these capabilities are seen as valuable for academia.

Sexual Harassment: A Gender-Neutral Problem? : A policy study on fifteen university documents in the United StatesGeorge, Nicole January 2023 (has links)
This thesis employs the use of Carol Bacchi's "What's the problem represented to be?"(WPR) approach and sets out to analyze the articulation of sexual harassment in fifteenexisting and current US academia policies. The analysis was completed within the broaderframework of gender theories including radical feminism and intersectionality, examininghow patriarchal systems can or cannot influence the development and application of policydocuments within the context of gender and law. This thesis explores the real and impactfulimplications of policy interventions and scrutinizes the position of sexual harassment being agender-neutral issue and not a gendered one.

Edadismo, Micromachismo, Monodosis…

1. Reseñar la documentación pertinente (textos legales, discursos, noticias periodísticas y (o) cartas) que explican las causas de la creación de los primeros cursos de dibujo en Chile;
