Les migrations d'agrément, marqueur d'une dynamique d'après tourisme dans les territoires de montagne / Amenity migrations as a led for post tourism in mountain territories

Martin, Niels 25 October 2013 (has links)
The ongoing nature of France's attractiveness for both tourist and resident is the subject of the present examination of the evolution in creating the need for, in promoting and in identifying places (‘territories'). Once an end in itself, tourism has also become a means of ‘testing' places for their residential potential. Migratory flows do in fact tend to follow tourist flows. The concept of migration for pleasure or lifestyle enhancement (‘amenity migration') describes such movements, which assign novel functions and identities to traditional tourism sites. However this also brings into play references and attributes of tourism, in the production of new residential areas located in places with no strong host tradition. In this case, the tourism development stage no longer appears as a prerequisite to territorial trajectory, and is replaced by amenity migration as part of a developmentalist undertaking. The foregoing observations open up a rich, yet little-explored, field of study on the links between the concepts of post-tourism migrations and those undertaken for pleasure (‘amenity'), and which involve the intermingling of residential, economic and recreational functions. It is with this context in mind that the central question concerns what ‘amenity migration' really ‘does' to recreational practices and to tourist areas over a wide range of rural and mountain locations. This means examining the changes and reconversions observed in the way in which post-tourism processes and amenity migrations contribute to redefining the status and dynamics of rural and mountain areas. Finally, an attempt is also made to position the subject among more global processes of the evolution of contemporary societies, with discussions of different moot paradigms.

Tourisme et handicap : recherche sur les conditions d'accessibilité aux aménités du littoral / Tourism and disability : research on the conditions of access to coastal amenities

Amiaud, David 12 October 2012 (has links)
People with disabilities can they be tourists ? Facing the discrepancy between the deficient body and the environment, what actions can be implemented to facilitate access of tourists with limited mobility to coastal amenities ? Spatial discontinuities create situations of disability and entail strong socio-spatial inequalities when it's a matter in access to territorial resources. Faced with this situation the law of February 11th 2005 mandates the establishment of public policy of accessibility based on the paradigm of design for all. If it is recognized that people with disabilities have the right to work, access to holidays and leisure attached to it are less taken into account in our society. Yet, the right to tourism is a strong social claim by disabled people. To answer this, French government help to create new modalities of access to tourism practices through the label "Tourisme & handicap". Widely unprecedented in the French geographic research, the relationship between tourism and disability raises yet many questions about mobility, mode of dwelling tourist, socio-spatial inclusion or citizenship of people with disabilities. For this we will do, using the tools of Geography, like GIS, the hypothesis of the usefulness of a territorial model tourism accessible so that the public policy of disability can contribute to fight effectively against spatial injustices, to facilitate the acceptance of human diversity and to maximise conditions of concretisation well-being of people otherwise capable.

Equestrian communities: design features and development process

Fackrell, Lara L. January 1900 (has links)
Master of Landscape Architecture / Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning / Stephanie A. Rolley / Equestrian Communities are platted housing developments that include amenities suited for horse boarding and riding. Since the mid 1970s, this particular sector of amenity community development has become an increasing trend. This study was designed to take a look at the way these communities are designed; where they are located; how they are managed; and, to whom they are marketed. Designing equestrian communities requires knowledge of how these communities are designed, where the land comes from, why people are buying into them and who those people are. Case study methodology was used to gather data on 22 communities across the US. Data sources included review of the marketing websites belonging to the communities; a literature review; and, interviews conducted with individuals responsible for the design and sales of the communities' lots or the management of the equestrian facilities. Statistics and images of the communities, including plats where available, were compiled into community "cut sheets" which are single-page synopses of each community.

Hodnocení stavu rurálního podnikání a motivační faktory pro jeho vznik v mikroregionu Sedlčansko / Evaluation of a state of rural business and motivational factors for its formation in the microregion Sedlčansko

Jarolímek, Pavel January 2015 (has links)
This Master thesis is based on empirical research of entrepreneurial subjects located in microregion Sedlčany which searches and evaluates the impacts of rural entrepreneurship in this region. Rural entrepreneurship has gone through changes. In comparison to its past, these changes have reflected the growing importance of non-agricultural subjects in countryside. Theoretical part presents a view into general way-outs to define a countryside and rural business. In addition, practical part pays attention to analysis of specific impacts of companies in this limited region. For instance, it brings us critical knowledge about cooperative networking, targeted markets, positive and negative factors which may influence local businesses. A component of this analysis is also an attempt to find and define motivating factors for migration in this monitored area.

Amenitní migrace v druhé generaci / Amenity migration in second generation

Davídková, Petra January 2018 (has links)
This work examines amenity migration and its main focus refers to the second generation of amenity migrants. The work also touches on the current world expression of ones attitude and the opinion about the rest of the world, but also the socialstatus. Amenity migration has became a phenomenon over the past few decades and usually is a reaction to the bustling, impersonal and stressful lifestyle, which relates to living in urban areas. The subject of this work are two groups of the direct descendants of the amenity migrants. The first group being the children, who knew the city life before moving to the countryside, while the second group are the descendetns, who were born into the amenity way of life. Additionally, the amenity migrants themselves were approached as well. The aim of this work is to find out whether the descendatns of the amenity migrants are determined to continue in the existing way of life, into which they were brought to by their parents. The circumstances of the aforementioned phenomena are recorded in the theoretical part of this thesis. The main authorities dedicated to this issues of amenity migration, whose work became the inspiration for my research and was cited and paraphrased, are Ing. M. Bartoš, Professor L.A. Moss and Dr. R. Glorioso. A qualitative research was chosen...

”Inte en plats som smörar för en” : En kvalitativ intervjustudie med människor i åldern 25-40 om valet att bo på Holmön.

Wiechel, Björn January 2021 (has links)
This study seeks to illuminate the reasons to and consequences of the decision to choose Holmön as place for settlement for people in the age 25-40. The Island of Holmön, outside of Umeå in northern Sweden, has for decades experienced a depopulation. But in the last years several people in the age 25-40 – a phase of life often characterized by labour market establishment and starting a family – have moved to Holmön. What are their relationship to the island and what are the implications of the move for their life situation? Previous research of rural migration and counterurbanization find that lifecycle aspects, amenities on the countryside and lifestyle are important for the movers. Their connection to the place and having a bigger city in the vicinity also influence their choice. Semistructured interviews of eight people carried out by the author were analyzed with the help of thematic method. The results show that most important to them, in choosing to live on Holmön, is the quality of life given by the beautiful nature and idyllic environment, and somewhat by the feeling of adventure. Housing, employment, connection and social network, service and infrastructure are all factors of significance to their choice. The positive community feeling was attractive and meaningful to them aswell. Furthermore, their biggest concern, and what moreover possibly could force them to move away again, is the lack of childcare and schools on Holmön. The study suggests this migration to be regarded as amenity migration within the region of Umeå since the proximity to Umeå has such importance to the movers.

Amenitní migrace a regionální identita na Prachaticku / Amenity migration and regional identity in region Prachatice

Loquenz, Jan January 2011 (has links)
This Master thesis named Amenity migration and regional identity in region Prachatice follows on the previous Bachrelor's thesis Formy amenitní migrace na Prachaticku. It compares regional identity of permanent population and amenity migrants using exemplar of the Prachatice region. Amenity migration is a young term and can by easy translated like a enjoyment migration. This specific type of movement is motivated effort of people to live in a area with quality environment. Most often its movement from urban places to a rural places. For this thesis was selected area of interest ORP Prachatice, whitch consists of three administrative regions - PÚ Netolice, PÚ Volary a PÚ Prachatice. All area of interest has on a small surface three completely different natural environments. It starts with evennesses with intensive agriculture, next you can see there landscape of mountain foothills a it finished in mountain enironment with highest degree of nature protection. Part of this thesis is also comparison regional identity in reaction of soo much different types of natural environment. Results of this thesis are evaluated on questionnnaire research and focused on reviews on types of environment, symbol of region, pozitives and negatives of region, pulbic awarenesses and on the theme of border. Sidewalks to Nowhere: A Tool to Prioritize Pedestrian Improvements

Lai, Ho Yan 01 June 2019 (has links) (PDF)
Walkability as a concept that captures the ability to walk from one place to another has multiple dimensions. Between traversability to being a proxy for better urban places, there are also numerous measurements of walkability that attempts to quantify certain or all aspects of walkability. It is, however, unclear, through a review of available literature, how these measurements of walkability relate to each other statistically. This methodology focuses on generating a framework for analysts to evaluate and prioritize pedestrian infrastructure. WalkScore™ (WS), HCM Pedestrian Level of Service (PLOS), Average Nodal Degree (AND), and Intersection Density are the four metrics selected for this analysis that focuses on distinctive aspects of walkability (proximity, amenity, network-connectivity, respectively). A sample of 51 street segments from the County of San Luis Obispo is selected according to their respective Average Daily Traffic (ADT) volumes. Pearson’s Correlations between the six combinations of relationships are measured, and the strongest correlation between the six relationships is between WalkScore™ and Intersection Density with an R2 of 0.44. A regression model that includes external factors such as population and adjacent land use is used to analyze and predict PLOS of the street segment. Although the model is not statistically significant, the goal of this research is to identify gaps in current and potential walkability of street segments in the sample. Therefore, this framework of using established walkability metrics to predict PLOS, and then distinguishing places for improvements is proposed as a result of this research to be used by government agencies to prioritize pedestrian infrastructure.
