In 1956, the DKW Vemag car has brought to the daily life of Brazilian cities a new reality: the national car. Along with it came also new modes of relationship between car and public, until so accustomed to foreign cars, preferably American. There was a whole imaginary around the car that came from the early twentieth century, and that has been strengthened after the Second World War. In the government of Getulio Vargas, between 1951 and 1954, had began the drawing of the outline of the automotive industry in Brazil with the FNM - Fabrica Nacional de Motores, but it was from the Program Goals of Juscelino Kubitschek (1955 to 1960) that effectively had began the producing of cars in the country. The factors that would have determined the success of the national car passed through the history of the car until then, the predominant aesthetics in the period, business conveniences in the choice of models to be produced and the political and economic circumstances, besides the capacities of specialized media to create and disseminate favorable rewiews from the national car to the Brazilian public.

A construção do conhecimento no processo de inovação: o desenvolvimento da tecnologia flex fuel nos sistemistas brasileiros / Knowledge construction in innovation process: the development of flex fuel technology in the brazilians first tier suppliersWilian Gatti Junior 13 December 2010 (has links)
The objective of this dissertation is to characterize and understand the organizational knowledge construction starting from the challenges that come from one of the most complexes corporate activities: the new product development. For this, it investigates the development project of the flex fuel technology in the Brazilian context of three systems suppliers for the automobile industry (first-tier suppliers), historically related to the adaptation of technologies and not of development. The development project of the flex fuel technology gathers characteristics that distinguishes it from the majority of the other sectors of the country, because it was conceived outside the domain of the carmakers and represents maybe a pioneer experience, that subsidiary of first-tier suppliers in Brazil had in the sense of integrate competences directed to a development (and not simple adaptation) of high degree of complexity. The research concluded that the interaction between the knowledge dimensions (epistemological and ontological) happen in a distinctive way in each one of the projects phases. In the pre-development, the organization uses more from the tacit and individual knowledge from its employees (ex.: former development, interpretation of the market signs) to build the concept of a new product. The following phase, development phase, a project conducted in a formal way (with approval and resources destined to the project) uses the tacit knowledge, through the interaction among different generations of engineers and especially, the explicit knowledge, with the register of the lessons of the development in reports, files and database, promoting building of the individual, group and organizational knowledge. In this phase, it also begins the building of the inter-organizational knowledge, with the application of the flex system in the carmakers. As for an informal Project, that focuses in the building of the tacit knowledge, and has as its characteristics the individual knowledge, it can be lost when the employees leave the company. In the last phase of the project, the post-development, the organization learns through the commercial interaction with the market (tacit knowledge) and through the field learning, through the reported information about the performance of their product in real conditions of use (explicit knowledge). In this phase, the formation of the inter-organizational knowledge is finished. It is the hope that this work could contribute with new studies perspectives related to the relation between knowledge and innovation, above all, because of the importance of the themes for the increasing of the country competitiveness.

A metodologia proposta foi feita em três empresas, onde foi verificada a sua aplicabilidade, possibilitando a análise da integração dentro e entre as empresas analisadas / Abstract: Today, companies are facing competition in various fronts as reduction of product life time, increase of diversification, reduction of customer response time. Due to these factors, became necessary to reach a higher degree of relationship between the enterprise and its suppliers and customers to avoid unnecessary costs and decrease response time between them. Besides that, the use of automation is not necessarily done in a balanced way, creating isles of excellence separated from the other areas of the organization. This study proposes a methodology to assess to integrate the Extended Enterprise, associated with Automation Indexes, intra and inter-organizational Business Process analysis. This methodology proposal, that is a descriptive and exploratory survey, was applied in companies that belong to an Automotive Extended Enterprise. Most assessed companies are not internally integrated, showing medium and low level of automation index. It also happens in the relationship among companies, creating isolated islands of automation. The Enterprises adopted the interpersonal contact, telephone, email, opinion polls, EDI and internal systems. The methodology proposal was verified in three companies, and confirmed, making the integration analysis inside and between enterprise feasible / Doutorado / Materiais e Processos de Fabricação / Doutora em Engenharia Mecânica

Over the last decades, changes in the World Economy point to the growing importance of three phenomena. First, the increasing dynamism of emerging economies as opposed to stagnation in developed markets. Second, the deepening integration of markets, from the commercial and productive point of view, making competition grow between corporations that operate in different countries. Finally, partly as a response to the previous phenomenon, corporate strategies increasingly focus on meeting local and regional demands. In this context, this essay focus on the automotive industry in MERCOSUR in order to analyze recent developments in its international insertion, pointing to the strategies adopted by major players and the results obtained in terms of production, sales and investments during the 2000s. The competitive environment and the role of public policy are stressed to explain how the regional industry has evolved internationally in terms of its competitive insertion / Mestrado / Ciências Economicas / Mestre em Ciências Econômicas

Testing degradation in a complex vehicle electrical system using Hardware-In-the-LoopBergkvist, Johannes January 2009 (has links)
Functionality in the automotive industry is becoming more complex, withcomplex communication networks between control systems. Information isshared among many control systems and extensive testing ensures high quality. Degradations testing, that has the objective to test functionality with some faultpresent, is performed on single control systems, but is not frequently performed on the entire electrical system. There is a wish for testing degradation automatically on the complete electrical system in a so called Hardware-In-the-Loop laboratory. A technique is needed to perform these tests on a regular basis.Problems with testing degradation in complex communication systems will bedescribed. Methods and solutions to tackle these problems are suggested, thatfinally end up with two independent test strategies. One strategy is suited to test degradation on new functionality. The other strategy is to investigate effects in the entire electrical system. Both strategies have been implemented in a Hardware-In-the-Loop laboratory and evaluated.

International joint venture success in the automotive industryStaley, Lee January 2015 (has links)
This thesis examines International IJVs and the conditions that contribute to their success. The original contribution to knowledge of his thesis is the identification of Trust, the Parent Relationship and Long-Term Commitment as conditions most likely to foster successful IJVs. This thesis showed the applicability of these conditions to IJVs in the automotive sector and also demonstrates the dependency of each condition to the other by identifying a sequential order with which the conditions These conditions are established through interviewing senior management from both parents and the internal management of 13 successful IJVs in the automotive industry. The thesis is divided into a qualitative and quantitative analysis. Key themes from the respondent s qualitative views of success are extracted, coded and then analysed to provide robust empirical results. The data acquired from the respondents is analysed using fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA). The conditions leading to success are the parent s relationship, the level of trust that exists between the parents and their long-term commitment to the IJV.
