Factors That Drive the Selection of Business Intelligence Tools in South African Financial Services Providers

Gina, Bonginkosi Phila 10 August 2021 (has links)
Innovation and technology advancements in information systems (IS) result in multiple product offerings and business intelligence (BI) software tools in the market to implement business intelligence systems (BIS). As a result, a high proportion of organisations fail to employ appropriate and suitable software tools meeting organisational needs, resulting in a prime number of BI solution failures and abandoned projects are therefore recorded. Due to such project failures, benefits associated with BI are not realised hence organisations loose enormous investments on BI solutions and competitive advantage. The study aims at discovering and exploring critical factors influencing the selection of BI tools when embarking on the selection process. This is a quantitative research study and questionnaire surveyed data was collected from 92 participants working in South African financial services providers listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) appearing in the top 100 based on market capitalization. The data was analysed quantitative by employing the use of SPSS and SmartPLS-3 software's to test the significance of influential factors using the proposed conceptual model that emerged from the literature. The findings showed that a combination of domain technical and non-technical factors is critical. Therefore, software tool technical factors (functionality, ease of use, compatibility, availability of an integrated hardware/software package, and availability of source code), vendor technical factors (availability of technical support, technical skills, quality of product, availability of user manual for important information, tutorial for learning and troubleshooting guide, and experience in using product developed by the same vendor), and opinion non-technical factors (end-users, subordinates, outside personnel acquaintances, and improvement in customer service) emerged as significant combination of influential factors to be considered. The study contributes to both academia and industry by providing influential determinants for software tool selection. It is hoped that the findings presented will contribute to a greater understanding of factors influencing the selection of BI tools to researchers and practitioners alike. Furthermore, organisations seeking to select and deliver appropriate BI tools will be better equipped to drive such endeavours.

Synthesis and Evaluation of N6,5'-Bis-Ureido-5'-Amino-5'-Deoxyadenosine Derivatives: Novel Nucleosides with Antiproliferative and Protein Kinase Binding Activities

Oliveira, Marcelio 19 November 2009 (has links)
A new series of N6,5'-bis-ureido-5'-amino-5'-deoxyadenosine derivatives was prepared and evaluated for anticancer activities using the NCI 60 panel of human cancers. Certain of the derivatives showed promising activities (low micromolar GI50's) against several of the representative cancers. These included cell lines from the following general cell types in the NCI 60: Leukemia, Breast, Central Nervous System, Non-Small Cell Lung, Ovarian, Prostate, Renal, and Colon cancers. Select compounds were also screened for their affinities for protein kinases. The synthesis of the compounds was straightforward and involved N6 acylation with arylisocyanates, preceded by activation and nucleophilic substitution of the 5'-position to give the desired 5'-azido-5'-deoxyadenosine derivatives. Reduction of the 5'-azido function with either H2/Pd-C, or Ph3P/H2O, gave the desired 5'-amino-5' deoxyadenosine products. Acylation of the 5'-amino group with N-methyl 4-nitrophenylcarbamate gave the N6,5'-bis-ureido-5'-amino-5' deoxyadenosine products. Yields ranged from good (50–75%) to excellent (75–95%) for all synthetic transformations.

Pierre Quesnay (1895-1937) un expert financier, de la Normandie au monde / Pierre Quesnay (1895-1937) a financial expert, from Normandy to the world

Boulanger, Amaury Renaud 06 February 2017 (has links)
Pierre Quesnay (1895-1935) is an important actor, although he’s not known for being part of the international financial life of the interwar period : « doctor of the money », first healing currencies in dissaray after the First World War, especially in Austria, then, at the SDN general secretariat. Acting in the shadows for the Poincaré’s stabilisation, as the general secretary of the Governor Moreau (between 1926 and 1928), brilliant Head of the Economic Analysis Department of the Banque of France, he is, starting from 1930, the first general manager of the BIS,originating from the Young plan, plan of which he was one of the main negociators. Edited from private familial archives which are totally unprecedented, including notebooks that Quesnay filled from 1912 to 1937, this work is an attempt of an intellectual biography of an international financial expert of the interwar period. By trying to understand what is his intellectual « tooling »(the evolution of his liberalism in view of the economical consequences of the First World War) as much as which are his networks (his proximity with Jean Monnet…), we come to the point, of the scales where he implements his intense activity, notably through his transnational dimension. On the other hand remains the central question, still actual, of the relation between the politician and the expert.

A propósito de Asevertrans, vulneración de non bis in ídem o solo un problema de culpabilidad en la responsabilidad penal de la persona jurídica

Ortiz Silva, Sebastián Eduardo January 2019 (has links)
Memoria (licenciado en ciencias jurídicas y sociales) / Asevertrans is a case where the juridical person is absolved of bribery offenses, condemning his Administrator for the same facts, we try to answer to what arguments this absolutive decision was due, whether it was an application of the Ne bis in idem, or was it a Court decision based on the models of attribution of responsibility. This work seeks to answer this question and establish general criteria as an application of this principle, for subsequent application in similar cases. Palabras Claves: Responsabilidad Penal Persona Jurídica, Asevertrans, Nen bis in idem, Atribución de Responsabilidad

Základní principy správního trestání se zaměření na zásadu "ne bis in idem" / Basic principles of imposing administrative penalties with special regard to the "ne bis in idem" principle"

Mach, Kevin January 2019 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of the principles applied during proceedings regarding offences, mainly the principle of non bis in idem, which this thesis focuses on. The non bis in idem principle means that a matter cannot be judged twice, because it is generally accepted that two punishments for the same crime are unfair. This principle is applied in proceedings on criminal charges and because the concept of criminal charges is autonomous according to the European Court for Human rights, i.e. it has specific objective content, I chiefly discussed interpretation of this concept. According to the European Court for Human Rights, in order for the issue to be criminal charges within the meaning of Article 4(1) of the Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights, the charges must fulfil the so-called Engel criteria, which I have endeavoured to explain to the reader. These criteria were created by the European Court for Human Rights in the case of Engel and Others v. the Netherlands (1976), whereas these criteria were developed before the same court in the case of Bendenoun v. France (1994). These criteria are decisive in regard to whether the issue is criminal charges and whether the guarantees offered by the European Convention on Human Rights must be applied during the proceedings,...

Immobilization of Ethylene Bis-Indenyl Ligands on Functionalized Silica Gel

Simerly, Thomas, Milligan, Tyson, Mohseni, Ray, Vasiliev, Aleksey 26 September 2012 (has links)
Four ethylene bis-indenyl ligands containing tethers of various lengths were successfully immobilized on the surface of functionalized silica gel. The strategy of immobilization was based on catalytic thiol-ene coupling of terminal alkene groups in the tethers with surface thiol groups. Obtained materials have high BET surface area and pore volume. The method developed can be used for immobilization of catalytically active bis-indenyl metallocene complexes, thus preventing their dimerization and deactivation.

Two New Diazonium Bis(perfluoroalkyl)arylsulfonyl Imide Zwitterionic Monomers from Perfluoro(3-oxa-4-pentene)sulfonyl Fluoride for Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

Mei, Hua, Ibrahim, Faisal 01 January 2017 (has links)
Two new bis(perfluoroalkyl)arylsulfonyl imide monomers, which contain the aryl diazonium moiety and intramolecular zwitterionic fragment, have been designed and prepared for the first time from perfluoro(3-oxa-4-pentene)sulfonyl fluoride. As promising monomer candidates for high-performance proton exchange membrane fuel cell electrolytes, these two monomers have furnished perfluorinated electrolytes that include the polymers from perfluorinated sulfonic acid or perfluorinated sulfonimide monomers. The synthesis strategies and NMR analysis are summarized and discussed in details.
