The present work intends to analyze the translation into Portuguese of some of the short stories of Bliss & other stories, by Katherine Mansfield, done by the writer Érico Veríssimo. We propose a comparison of the translation with the source text in order to evaluate the solutions of translation found in the transmission of the sense effects proposed by the author and, consequently, to approach the writer's translator character , because it is a branch of his professional activity that isn’t spread frequently, although it has been of extreme relevance to his subsequent literary works. So, we verified if the translator presents what Ohmann denominates stylistic intuition. In a first instance, we presented a survey of the main theories concerning translation and the deconstructionist theory of Jacques Derrida, on which we were based for the accomplishment of the appreciation of the translations. The study of the relationship between Katherine Mansfield and Érico Veríssimo through the translation perfects translation studies, since it allows analyzing the posture of a writer/translator before a poetic prose. And, finally, the New Zealand writer's short stories and their translations, done by Érico Veríssimo, were analyzed in order to formulate the due conclusions. We took as theoretical base the deconstructionist theory, as well as considerations from specialists in translation studies, such as Francis Henrik Aubert, José Paulo Paes, Haroldo of Campos, and others.

Srovnání Platónova a Aristotelova pojetí etiky ctnosti / Comparison of Plato's and Aristotle's conception of virtue ethics

TISCHLEROVÁ, Monika January 2014 (has links)
This work deals with the comparison of Plato and Aristotle's conception of virtue ethics. The first part describes Plato's view of this area of philosophy. Plato puts his ethics based on the analogy between the municipality and the soul. Plato also operates with good ideas. In the second part, Aristotle view. First, I discuss the objectives of its philosophy, which is good, and then bliss. Then there is the division of the moral virtues and intellectual. Then describe each of Aristotle's virtues. The third main section consists of two subsections, the first of which generally compare both concepts when I find the first differences in the overall approach of both authors. In the second subsection I compare other points of doctrine, especially community, friendship and goodness.

An essay on an absurd reasoning- : and the (im)possibility of exploring children ́s worlds.

ihse, linda January 2023 (has links)
This essay delves into the question of whether the desire to understand children in their thought process can lead adults into interpret children ́s thoughts through their own worldview. It explores the idea whether it is futile to believe in the possibility of fully understanding and if we could benefit by surrender that notion.  Inspired by Camus ́essay The myth of Sisyfos and Nagel ́s exploration of the subjective nature of experience in What is it like to be a bat? this essay grapples with the concept of absurdity and the question if Camus and Nagels ideas of absurdity can be helpful for adults in their challenge to grasp a child ́s perspective. Through an exploration of absurdity and a critical examination of adult’s belief in their ability to understand children, specifically concept such as child’s perspective in childhood sociology, this essay aims to shed light on the complex relationship between children and, adults emphasizing the importance of humility and recognizing the inherent limitations of whether a human being fully can understand another human being regardless age. Furthermore, the children ́s book Gropen is used to make visible the ideas about how the realities of children and adults are expressed.

Palmén, Ylva, Hägg, Lisa January 2011 (has links)
Communication and interaction are important parts in developing both linguistic and social skills. Children who uses augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) may not always have the same opportunities as talking children to communicate. It can be especially difficult to interact and thereby create relationships with peers. The aim of this study was to explore conversations between peers, more specifically in which ways they establish and maintain common understanding in the conversation. Participants in the study were two young boys with cerebral palsy (CP) causing non-intelligible speech, and therefore using blissymbolics as their AAC. The boys were videotaped during a conversation with a classmate. A Conversation Analysis method (CA) were used to identify patterns in the interaction, and to analyze the participants' strategies to establish common understanding. Strategies used were suggestions of interpretation, following up-questions, formulations and reparations. The strategies were most used in transition-relevance places, but reparations could also be found during the creation of blissymbolic utterances. The analysis also found that understanding-oriented strategies sometimes were missing in one of the conversations, which led to breakdown in the conversation. The talking individuals were responsible for establishing common understanding in the major part of both conversations, but the boys using blissymbolics did not leave the responsibility entirely to them. In total the analysis showed that conversations with AAC can differ in many ways. Which strategies the participants used to establish common understanding were of great importance in both conversations. Every participant in the conversation were obliged to engage in creating common understanding in order to not lead the conversation to a breakdown.

Le bonheur dans les écrits romanesques et non romanesques de Jacques Chardonne / Happiness in fictional and non fictional writings of Jacques Chardonne

Hasson, Muna 18 June 2010 (has links)
During the 20th century era, when the tragedy and the absurdity were dominant; a series of writings which were interested in happiness and pleasure, that here and there, in varied elements, flourished. The aim of most authors was to demonstrate their personal ideas and perceptions of happiness. One of these compositions was the collection of Jacques Chardonne. From his personal experience and his vision at the others, Chardonne discusses happiness in two types of writings: fictional and non fictional. In the first category he speaks specifically of happiness in life to two. He attaches great importance to find the figures of this happiness: the strategies which help to achieve it, and the factors which can perpetuate it. From his view, the woman and her characteristics are the pole essential of this happiness. Also the love is essential. It "is much more than love". Yet, it is the author's satisfaction that restores this happiness perfect. In his writings, although there are some obstacles which may prevent full achievement of happiness, yet Chardonne was able to overcome most of them by adapting a special narrative strategy to keep the sense of happiness in the general atmosphere.A series of non fictional writings, autobiographic story and trials, talk about the elements of the happiness in Chardonne’s life. Some are related to the happy childhood, in his mother country, Barbezieux, where he lived and brought up with happy people; as well as the mutual love, the good friendship, his career, and the enormously beautiful views in the trips during his youth, and the small garden during his senility. However, there are some regrets and his memories about the time that he spent in the prison of Cognac during the Liberation disturb the quiet life of Chardonne."This satisfied me" was the philosophy that had been adapted by Chardonne throughout his life, which can be translated as the interior will and desire which built up the persistent feeling of happiness reflected in all of his writings.

Životní kariera sexuálních pracovnic / Life career of sexual workers

Babej, Sára January 2020 (has links)
Aj The goal of the diploma thesis is to find out what is the life career of women who provide paid sexual services. The thesis only applies to women who provide sexual services for financial compensation and are over 18 years old. Although we know from research that a large portion of women started providing sexual services for money before the age of 18, we are not getting into direct contact with teenage sex workers. In my work, I focus on the biography of women providing paid sex services. From their perspective, and how they view their lives. The sample of respondents was adapted to the topic and we approached both the clients of Bliss without RISK, z. s. as well as those who no longer working in the sex business. I used the in-depth interview method to get a basic picture of the interviewee's family, personal, and work situation. Furthermore, I focused on capturing their view of the life stage when they worked in the sex business. I tried to identify the moments that led to the entry and exit of this profession. Keywords: Sex business, Bliss without RISK (R-R), Sex worker, Life career, Paid sexual services
