Livscykelkostnadsanalys för två typer av spillvattensystem / Lifecycle and cost analysis of two types of sewerage systems

Månsson, Victor, Lexander, Robin January 2020 (has links)
In order to cope with the population increase that occurs in the cities, new construction areas are being planned. Before the construction of housing can take place, a decision must be made regarding the choice of sewerage system. At present there are no simple tools to compare and make choices based on the systems total lifetime cost. The aim of this thesis has been to develop a calculation template that can perform a life cycle cost analysis and to be a complement to the project planning and choice of sewerage systems. The topography and area-specific costs are broken down and entered into the calculation template for the distance where the wastewater pipeline is to be constructed. The template then checks whether the area's conditions meet the requirements for wastewater pipelines or not. The result obtained from the calculation template shows initial, annual, and accumulated costs for the two systems. Differences and possible breakpoints between the accumulated cost of the two systems are reported and can be used as a basis for decision. The work showed that there is a great need for supporting tools to facilitate the planning and decision making of water systems.

Development of a dynamic stochastic neutronic code for the analysis of conventional and hybrid nuclear reactors / Développement d’un code neutronique stochastique dynamique pour l’analyse de réacteurs nucléaires conventionnels et hybrides

Xenofontos, Thalia 19 January 2018 (has links)
The necessity for precise simulations of a nuclear reactor especially in case of complex core and fuel configurations has imposed the increasing use of Monte Carlo (MC) neutronics codes. Besides, a demand of additional stochastic codes’ inherent capabilities has emerged regarding mainly the simulation of the temporal variations in the core isotopic composition as well as the incorporation of the T-H feedback. In addition to the above, the design of innovative nuclear reactor concepts, such as the Accelerator Driven System (ADSs), imposed extra requirements of simulation capabilities. More specifically, the combination of an accelerator and a nuclear reactor in the ADS requires the simulation of both subsystems for an integrated system analysis. Therefore a need arises for more advanced simulation tools, able to cover the broad neutrons energy spectrum involved in these systems. This work presents the main features and capabilities of the new MC neutronics code ANET (Advanced Neutronics with Evolution and Thermal hydraulic feedback), being developed in NCSR Demokritos (Greece) in cooperation with CNRS/IDRIS and UPMC (France) and intending to meet as effectively as possible the above described modelling requirements. ANET is based on the open-source version of the HEP code GEANT3.21 and is targeting to the creation of an enhanced computational tool in the field of reactor analysis, capable of simulating both GEN II/III reactors and ADSs. ANET is structured with inherent capability of (a) performing burnup calculations and (b) simulating the spallation process in the ADS analysis, while taking T-H feedback into account. The current ANET version utilizes the three standard Monte Carlo estimators for the neutron multiplication factor (keff) calculation, i.e. the collision estimator, the absorption estimator and the track-length estimator. Regarding the simulation of neutron fluence and reaction rates, the collision and the track-length estimators are implemented in ANET following the standard Monte Carlo procedure. For the burnup calculations ANET attempts to apply a pure Monte Carlo approach, adopting the typical procedure followed in stochastic codes. With respect to code improvements for the ADS analysis, so far ANET has incorporated the INCL/ABLA code so that the spallation process can be inherently simulated. The ANET reliability in typical computations was tested using observational data and parallel simulations by different codes as described in the following chapters.Various installations and international benchmarks were considered suitable for the verification and validation of all the previously mentioned features incorporated in the new code ANET. The obtained results are compared with experimental data from the nuclear infrastructures and with computations performed by well-established stochastic or deterministic neutronics codes and show satisfactory agreement with both measurements and independent computations, verifying thus ANET’s ability to successfully simulate important parameters of critical and subcritical systems. Also, the preliminary ANET application for dynamic analysis is encouraging since it indicates the code capability to inherently provide a reasonable prediction for the core inventory evolution taking into account the uncertainties of the order of 20% and even higher that are traditionally expected in core inventory evolution calculations. Lastly, the code performance in the KUCA case was found satisfactory demonstrating thus inherent capability of analyzing ADSs.

Revitalizace rybníka v katastrálním území Skalička u Hranic / Revitalization of the Small Water Reservoir in the Skalička u Hranic Cadastral Area

Majkus, Martin January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this paper is to propose a comprehensive revitalization of the side pond in the cadastral area of Skalička. As part of revitalization measures, the removal of mud from the pond, fortification of the banks and other modifications in connection with functional structures are proposed. In order to take water into the pond, a concrete diversion structure in the Hlubocky stream bed is designed, connected with pond via open canal with 2 pools, which will substitute the existing supply pipeline. As part of stabilization of the streambed and to overcome height difference, a boulder chute with stilling basin and related modifications are designed. The introductory part is a summary of knowledge from the issue and it explains important terms, historical context and description of basic principles. The next part describes the current situation and conditions in the surveyed locality. The following is a description of the methods and programs that were used for this work. The design part presents the proposed revitalization measures. An essential part of the work is also the varification of the proposed modification in the streambed, using 3D digital terrain model in Atlas DMT and subsequent 1D flow simulation in HEC-RAS.

Novel Intraoperative Imaging of Gastric Tube Perfusion during Oncologic Esophagectomy—A Pilot Study Comparing Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) and Fluorescence Imaging (FI) with Indocyanine Green (ICG)

Hennig, Sebastian, Jansen-Winkeln, Boris, Köhler, Hannes, Knospe, Luise, Chalopin, Claire, Maktabi, Marianne, Pfahl, Annekatrin, Hoffmann, Jana, Kwast, Stefan, Gockel, Ines, Moulla, Yusef 02 May 2023 (has links)
Background: Novel intraoperative imaging techniques, namely, hyperspectral (HSI) and fluorescence imaging (FI), are promising with respect to reducing severe postoperative complications, thus increasing patient safety. Both tools have already been used to evaluate perfusion of the gastric conduit after esophagectomy and before anastomosis. To our knowledge, this is the first study evaluating both modalities simultaneously during esophagectomy. Methods: In our pilot study, 13 patients, who underwent Ivor Lewis esophagectomy and gastric conduit reconstruction, were analyzed prospectively. HSI and FI were recorded before establishing the anastomosis in order to determine its optimum position. Results: No anastomotic leak occurred during this pilot study. In five patients, the imaging methods resulted in a more peripheral adaptation of the anastomosis. There were no significant differences between the two imaging tools, and no adverse events due to the imaging methods or indocyanine green (ICG) injection occurred. Conclusions: Simultaneous intraoperative application of both modalities was feasible and not time consuming. They are complementary with regard to the ideal anastomotic position and may contribute to better surgical outcomes. The impact of their simultaneous application will be proven in consecutive prospective trials with a large patient cohort.

Extrusion-Printing of Multi-Channeled Two-Component Hydrogel Constructs from Gelatinous Peptides and Anhydride-Containing Oligomers

Krieghoff, Jan, Rost, Johannes, Kohn-Polster, Caroline, Müller, Benno M., Koenig, Andreas, Flath, Tobias, Schulz-Siegmund, Michaela, Schulze, Fritz-Peter, Hacker, Michael C. 02 May 2023 (has links)
The performance of artificial nerve guidance conduits (NGC) in peripheral nerve regeneration can be improved by providing structures with multiple small channels instead of a single wide lumen. 3D-printing is a strategy to access such multi-channeled structures in a defined and reproducible way. This study explores extrusion-based 3D-printing of two-component hydrogels from a single cartridge printhead into multi-channeled structures under aseptic conditions. The gels are based on a platform of synthetic, anhydride-containing oligomers for cross-linking of gelatinous peptides. Stable constructs with continuous small channels and a variety of footprints and sizes were successfully generated from formulations containing either an organic or inorganic gelation base. The adjustability of the system was investigated by varying the cross-linking oligomer and substituting the gelation bases controlling the cross-linking kinetics. Formulations with organic N-methyl-piperidin-3-ol and inorganic K2HPO4 yielded hydrogels with comparable properties after manual processing and extrusion-based 3D-printing. The slower reaction kinetics of formulations with K2HPO4 can be beneficial for extending the time frame for printing. The two-component hydrogels displayed both slow hydrolytic and activity-dependent enzymatic degradability. Together with satisfying in vitro cell proliferation data, these results indicate the suitability of our cross-linked hydrogels as multi-channeled NGC for enhanced peripheral nerve regeneration.

Vývoj městské zástavby a městské infrastruktury v Benešově v letech 1918-1939 / The developement of urban build-up area and urban infrastructure in Benešov in the years 1918-1939

Roubík, Michal January 2011 (has links)
In my diploma thesis "The Development of Urban Build-up Area and Urban Infrastructure in Benešov in the Years 1918 - 1939", I explore one chapter in the development of a small agricultural town during the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. This thesis is a contribution to the history of Czech towns during the interwar period and its topic corresponds to the research project of the Institute of Economic and Social History at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, within the frame of which I worked on this thesis. The thesis was written mainly based on research of the resources in the State District Archives in Benešov (a branch office of the State Regional Archives in Prague) and of a wide range of relevant specialized literature. The introduction consists of a chapter offering a complex summary of the most important moments and changes in the development of Benešov during the examined period. Apart from the history of Benešov, it also shows the role of the town in the region and the relation of its development to other municipalities in the country. The focal point of the thesis lays in the extensive yet lucid chapters examining architectural development of the town (the essential moments, context, but also particular interesting buildings) and the development of its infrastructure...

Sound propagation in a possibly lined annular duct with swirling and sheared mean flow : application to fan broadband noise prediction

Masson, Vianney 23 February 2018 (has links)
The advent of modern turbofan engines such as UHBR goes along with new issues. Amongst others, the shortening of the inlet and exhaust yield a relatively higher importance of the liners located inside the interstage, where the flow is highly swirling. The present work aims at developing analytical models to assess the effect of the swirl both on the behavior of the interstage liners and on the upstream radiation of the fan-OGV interaction broadband boise. The evolution of small fluctuations in a rigid annular duct containing a swirling and sheared mean flow are studied first. After having introduced the governing equations and the main assumptions, the acoustic analogy of Posson & Peake [122] tailored to an annular duct with swirl and shear is presented. The effect of the swirl on the modal content in a rigid annular duct is highlighted for different types of swirl. In particular the shift of the cut-on thresholds is studied. Then, the modal analysis is extended to a duct with lined walls. A particular attention is paid on the boundary condition. Notably, a correction of the classical Myers boundary condition [101] is proposed to account for the centrifugal effects. An extension of Brambley’s boundary condition [24] is also derived to account for the boundary layer thickness to first order. The effect of both the swirl and the boundary condition on the modal content are studied. Besides, a dispersion relation for the surface waves is derived for the corrected Myers boundary condition. Based on the previous modal analyses, a transmission tool is developed to assess the effect of the swirl on the efficiency of a liner. The method, which relies on the mode-matching approach, is based on the conservation of the total enthalpy and the mass flow at the interfaces between the rigid and the lined sections. Due to the nature of the eigenfunctions, a new projection method based on the Chebyshev polynomial properties is proposed. Thanks to this model, the absorption is assessed for different types of swirl. Finally, a rotor-stator interaction broadband noise prediction model is derived from Posson & Peake’s acoustic analogy [122], to account for the effect of the swirl on the upstream radiated acoustic power. The source term is computed according to Posson et al.’s model [120]. It allows considering a radial variation of the geometry and the statistical properties of the incident turbulence. The model is assessed on the NASA SDT test case and the effect of the swirl is evaluated for several stator geometries and regimes.

Study of convective heat transfer phenomena for turbulent pulsating flows in pipes / Etude du transfert thermique convectif dès écoulements turbulents pulsés dans un conduit cylindrique

Simonetti, Marco 15 December 2017 (has links)
Waste Energy Recovery represents a promising way to go further in fuel saving and greenhouse emissions control for Internal Combustion Engine applications. Although several technologies have been investigated in the past few years, the convective heat transfers, playing an important role in the energy exchanges at the engine exhaust, has not receive enough attention. Heat transfers, in such applications, occur in pulsating conditions because of the engine operating conditions, making thus the actual knowledge of the heat transfer phenomena limited and not exploitable. Nowadays there is not any model capable to predict convective heat transfers for pulsating flows. In this context, the present thesis addresses the purpose to study the convective heat transfer phenomena, by an experimental approach, occurring for turbulent pulsating flows in pipes. In the first part of this work, an experimental apparatus has been designed to reproduce an exhaust type pulsating flow in fully managed conditions, as well as, several measurement techniques have been developed to know the instantaneous profiles of air temperature and velocity. Many experiments have been performed in order to characterize the impact of the flow pulsation on the convective heat transfers. In the second part of this work, the experimental results have been analyzed with two different approaches: firstly, with a 1D assumption the time-average convective heat transfers has been computed, and the major mechanism responsible of the heat transfer enhancement has been pointed out. Furthermore, it has been possible to highlight the mathematical term representative of such mechanism, which should be accounted in future to define a more adapted numerical model for the heat transfer prediction. In a second phase with a 2D assumption, and, with an energy and a fluid-mechanic computational phase, the radial transport of thermal energy has been characterized for a pulsating flow.

Emprego dos métodos eletromagnético indutivo e GPR no mapeamento de redes de interferências instaladas no Sítio Controlado de Geofísica Rasa do IAG/USP / Using inductive electromagnetic and GPR methods for mapping interference installed on the test site of IAG/US

Santos, Vinicius Rafael Neris dos 19 March 2009 (has links)
This research was conducted geophysical surveys using inductive electromagnetic - IEM (EM38 equipment) and GPR - Ground Penetrating Radar methods, to locate network interference, such as metal pipes, electric cables and plastic conduit installed in lines 6 and 7 of test site of the IAG/USP (SCGR). IEM data were affected by instrumental drift due to temperature variation. The correction was effective through the use of a quadratic function, highlighting the deeper targets. The acquisition targets identified in the distance underground metal with good accuracy and acquisition time allowed to make a survey of regional targets metal underground. The best results were obtained with the acquisition in distance with the sensors placed at 10 cm in height, due to deficiencies become more clear, where the influence of the background conductivity was reduced. The 2D GPR profiles obtained with the antenna of 400 MHz to detect the target by 1 m depth and the antenna of 200 MHz was possible to detect almost all metal targets and non-metallic lines installed in the study SCGR. GPR to the quasi-3D in the form of depth slices, were important for estimating the size of the targets and improve the visualization of results. The results obtained with the IEM and GPR methods are complementary, and both are recommended in mapping interference underground, with direct applications in the areas of urban planning and infrastructure in urban centers.
