Este estudo procura identificar, medir e avaliar as práticas dos empregadores do Brasil e do Canadá em relação à gestão do capital intelectual de seus desenvolvedores de software, comumente chamados de programadores. O trabalho condensa, através da revisão e análise dos principais autores do assunto, os pressupostos básicos da boa gestão do capital intelectual. Tais pressupostos foram determinados especificamente para os desenvolvedores de software, que são agentes nucleares na indústria da tecnologia da informação, tecnologia essa que é onipresente em todas as instituições modernas. A partir desses pressupostos básicos, foram definidos 13 Índices de Capital Intelectual, que possibilitaram a criação de um questionário eletrônico disponibilizado na internet, no qual profissionais do Brasil e do Canadá responderam após serem convidados através do disparo em massa de mensagens de e-mail, gerando assim os dados primários. Os 13 Índices de Capital Intelectual propostos são: Índice de Instrução, Índice de Treinamento, Índice do Sistema de Conhecimento Organizacional, Índice Ocupacional, Índice de Satisfação, Índice Motivacional, Índice Vocacional, Índice de Coleguismo, Índice do Poder de Decisão (empowerment), Índice de Contato Direto com Clientes, Índice de Rotatividade, Índice Hierárquico e Índice do Papel Contábil. Através de uma metodologia original proposta pelo autor, os resultados da pesquisa de campo, fartamente ilustrados com gráficos, mostraram que os respondentes do Canadá obtiveram melhor resultado em 7 índices, enquanto que os brasileiros superaram os canadenses nos demais 6 índices. / This study aims to identify, measure, and evaluate the practices of employers in Brazil and Canada in relation to the management of intellectual capital of its software developers, commonly called programmers. The study condenses, through the review and analysis of the principal authors of the subject, the basic assumptions of the good management of intellectual capital. These assumptions were determined specifically for software developers, who are nuclear agents in the information technology industry, the technology that is omnipresent in all modern institutions. From these basic assumptions, were defined 13 Intellectual Capital Indexes, which enabled the creation of an electronic questionnaire available on the Internet, in which professionals from Brazil and Canada responded after being invited through a mass e-mail sending, generating the primary data. The 13 Intellectual Capital Indexes proposed are: Education Index, Training Index, Organizational Knowledge System Index, Occupational Index, Satisfaction Index, Motivational Index, Vocational Index, Comradeship Index, Empowerment Index, Index of Direct Contact with Customers, Turnover Index, Hierarchical Index, and Accounting Role Index. Using an original methodology proposed by the author, the results of field research, fully illustrated with charts, showed that respondents in Canada obtained better results in 7 indexes, while the Brazilians beat the Canadians in the other 6 indexes.

Apoiado nas concepções de Pierre Bourdieu, este estudo buscou desvendar na práxis como os conceitos de habitus, capital econômico, capital social, capital cultural, herança cultural e ethos podem intervir nas questões relacionadas ao gênero desde a mais tenra idade. Na análise dos dados que foram obtidos com as entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com os agentes escolares foi empregado o método praxiológico, também desenvolvido pelo sociólogo e sua equipe. Para uma melhor compreensão da pesquisa, foram utilizadas seções que vão desde a apresentação dos principais conceitos que embasam o trabalho, tais quais desenvolvidos por Bourdieu, até a apresentação e análise dos dados. Assim, buscou-se com este estudo identificar e ressaltar como pode se dar a estruturação do gênero feminino e masculino, desvelando, assim, como o meio social do qual os agentes são oriundos interfere nesse processo tanto pessoal, quanto em relação às crianças com as quais esses agentes têm contato. / This study aimed to analyze, considering the social trajectory of three school agents, how the family and cultural heritage tend to affect the structuring of the habitus regarding the gender issues of each agent. Besides that, it tends to interfere on the structuring process of the early childhood education children, whether as students or children inserted in the public institution of a Sao Paulo inland medium-sized city, school unit where the analyzed agents act. Based on Pierre Bourdieu’s conceptions, this study aimed to unravel in praxis how the concepts of habitus, economic capital, social capital, cultural capital, cultural heritage and ethos may intervene on gender related issues since the early age. In the data analysis obtained with the semi-structured interviews held with the school agents, it was applied the praxeological method, also developed by the mentioned sociologist and his team. For a better understanding of this research, it was used sections that go from presentation of the main concepts that substantiated this work, such as those developed by Bourdieu, until the data presentation and analysis. Thus, this study sought to identify and highlight how both feminine and masculine genders can be structured, revealing how the social environment of which the agents are part of interferes in this personal process as well as regarding the children they have contact with. The main objective of the dissertation is to evaluate and compare higher education financing instruments in regard to their practical advantageousness. None of the publications covering higher education financing so far have dealt with the question of practicability and market acceptance of the different higher education financing instruments currently being offered. The author intended to close this gap, providing a practical analysis of the mode of operation as well as a thorough comparison of private higher education financing instruments in respect to their applicability.

Este estudo é sobre as transformações vividas pelos indivíduos na porção meridional da Serra do Espinhaço do estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Estas transformações se manifestam aparentemente como uma expansão da indústria do turismo. Porém, na realidade elas são expressão das determinações impostas ali pela crise da sociedade do trabalho. / This study deals with the social changes experienced by people from the southern area of Serra do Espinhaço, Minas Gerais, Brazil. These changes are related to the increase of the tourism industry however they are determined by crise o work society reproduction.

This dissertation consists in an analysis about the interconnection between the relative price of capital and economic growth. The work is divided in two essays. In the first one, an analysis of the dynamic impact of trade restrictions is performed in order to understand the impact over economic growth and relative price of capital. This analysis is particularly relevant to understand the Brazilian case, which presented a strong rise in the relative price of capital, exactly at the time the country was adopting import substitution policies and restrictions to the trade of capital goods. The second essay emphasizes differences between countries of income per capita and relative price of capital. Consistent with recent empirical work, this analysis emphasizes how differences in productivity could be generated and how this could impact the dispersion of income per capita and the relative price of capital. / Esta dissertação consiste em uma análise sobre as interligações entre o preço relativo do capital e crescimento econômico. O trabalho está divido em dois ensaios. No primeiro, é realizado uma análise do impacto dinâmico de restrições ao comércio internacional sobre crescimento econômico e o preço relativo do capital. Essa análise é particularmente relevante para entender o caso brasileiro, que observou uma forte elevação do preço relativo do capital justamente em um período de substituição de importações e restrições ao comércio de bens de capital. O segundo ensaio procura olhar para as diferenças de renda per capita e do preço relativo do capital entre os países. Em consonância com trabalhos empíricos recentes, a análise enfatiza como diferenças em produtividade podem ser geradas e como isso pode impactar a dispersão de renda per capital e do preço relativo do capital.

O trabalho aqui proposto perseguiu a compreensão e a explicação da constituição da produção espacial num dado fragmento da grande metrópole paulistana, a região da Granja Viana pertencente ao município de Cotia. Os espaços foram sendo privatizados e produzidos de forma hierarquizada e os meios que influenciaram e ainda influenciam na constituição e manutenção de lugares nobres e periféricos dentro de uma mesma região estão estritamente ligados a uma estratégia de (re)produção do capital por meio do mercado imobiliário. A Granja Viana \"vendida\" carrega consigo um ideal de qualidade de vida associado ao requinte e segurança que estabelece uma identidade aos empreendimentos oferecidos. Porém existe algo a mais no espaço e que nem sempre é aparente: trata-se da diversidade e dos conflitos. Nesta região o velho e o novo, assim como a abundância e a raridade se mantêm num permanente fazer e refazer de um espaço que não é homogêneo. / This work attempted to make understandable and to explain how a production of space is established in a small portion of a big city. The object of this study is Granja Viana area located in Cotia city, near São Paulo. This area has been privatized and developed in a hierarchical way, and the means that influenced and still influence the building up and the maintenance of noble places and peripheries in a same region are strictly related to a capital grow strategy thru the real estate market. The \"sold\" Granja Viana carries an ideal of quality life associated to refinement and security, which creates an identity to the offered enterprises. But there is something else in this space, which is not always evident that is diversities and conflicts. Old and new in this region as well as abundance and scarcity, maintain an invariable make and remake of a heterogeneous space.

Baker and Wurgler (2002) define a new theory of capital structure. In this theory capital structure evolves as the cumulative outcome of past attempts to time the equity market. Baker and Wurgler extend market timing theory to long-term capital structure, but their results do not clearly distinguish between the two versions of market timing: perceived mispricing and adverse selection. The main purpose of this dissertation is to empirically identify the relative importance of these two explanations. First, I retest Baker and Wurgler's theory by using insider trading as an alternative to market-to-book ratio to measure equity market timing. I also formally test the adverse selection model of the equity market timing: first by using post-issuance performance, and then by using three measures of adverse selection. The first two measures use estimates of adverse information costs based on the bid and ask prices, and the third measure is based on the close-to-offer returns. Based on received theory, a dynamic adverse selection model implies that higher adverse information costs lead to higher leverage. On the other hand, a naïve adverse selection model implies that negative inside information leads to lower leverage. The results are consistent with the equity market timing theory of capital structure. The results also indicate that a naïve, as opposed to a dynamic, adverse selection model seems to be the best explanation as to why managers time equity issues.

Ce travail s'inscrit dans une veine de recherche en intelligence économique. Un mot clé est souvent associé à l'activité d'intelligence économique au quotidien: c'est celui de réseau. Le réseau est présent à toutes les étapes du cycle du renseignement. Dans ce travail, le concept de réseau va nous intéresser dans une perspective interculturelle. Nous allons plus précisément nous attacher au concept chinois de Guanxi, orientation de l'esprit qui conduit à mobiliser les réseaux de relations dès lors qu'on se trouve face à un problème décisionnel et ce à tous les niveaux de la vie sociale.Pour comprendre les mécanismes du Guanxi, il est nécessaire d'en décrire les mécanismes en utilisant des concepts nécessaires à sa compréhension. La complexité du travail vient du fait que les concepts sous-jacents ne sont pas traduisibles en français autrement que par des périphrases et qu'ils se définissent de façon emboitée. Impossible de comprendre la notion de Guanxi sans s'immerger dans le système social chinois. Afin d'éclairer le lecteur, il nous a paru également utile de mettre en parallèle le concept de Guanxi de concepts voisins qui ont pu être utilisés dans d'autres sociétés. Le Guanxi joue sans doute un rôle de facilitateur dans le développement de l'entreprise chinoise. Il aide les entrepreneurs chinois à réussir. Quel rôle le Guanxi joue-t-il dans la réussite de l'entrepreneur français en Chine? Le Guanxi est-il aussi un élément favorable au développement des entreprises à capitaux étrangers (français) en Chine?Pour répondre à ces questions, nous sommes partis en Chine rencontrer des entrepreneurs français, écouter leur expérience personnelle ainsi que leur pratique professionnelle.La seconde partie rend compte de ce travail de terrain et montre toute la difficulté d'une compréhension fine du concept de Guanxi par ces chefs d'entreprise alors même qu'ils évoluent dans un environnement asiatique. / This work is part of a vein of research intelligence. A keyword is often associated with the activity of intelligence in everyday life: this is the réseau. The network is present at all stages of the intelligence cycle. In this work, the network concept will interest us in an intercultural perspective. We will specifically bind us to the Chinese concept of Guanxi orientation of the mind which leads to mobilize networks of relations as soon as we are faced with a decision problem and at all levels of social life.To understand the mechanisms of Guanxi, it is necessary to describe mechanisms using concepts needed to understand. Complexity of the work is that the underlying concepts are not translatable in French except by circumlocution and how they define nested. Impossible to understand the concept of Guanxi without immerse themselves in the Chinese social system. To inform the reader, we thought it useful to also parallel the concept of Guanxi of related concepts that could be used in other companies.Guanxi undoubtedly plays a facilitating role in the development of the Chinese company. It helps Chinese entrepreneurs to succeed. Guanxi plays what role he in the success of the French entrepreneur in China? Guanxi is it also a favorable factor for the development of foreign-invested enterprises (French) China? To answer these questions, we went to China to meet French entrepreneurs, listen to their personal experience and their professional practice.The second part gives an account of this fieldwork and demonstrates the difficulty of a thorough understanding of the concept of Guanxi by these business leaders even though they operate in an Asian environment
