本文旨在研究明儒郝敬之經學業績及其經學巨作《九經解》對清初經學之興起,對理學到經學的典範轉移所起的全面而決定性的影響。本文是從思想史角度研究郝敬經學之發生及其動力。 / 以掛冠歸家、閉戶解經為標誌,郝敬的生涯被劃分成了前後兩個完全不同的階段。前經學時期作為士大夫的郝敬,其志趣乃是為政與文人生活。在他完成解經後,我們可以看到他的種種轉變:由早年的喜好佛道而轉向對佛老的激烈批判,從而區別於晚明盛行的三教合一論者;與此一體的是他重整作為儒家禮教重心的喪、祭二禮;他由早年的仰慕李贄而轉向激烈批判李贄。這些都可視為批評異端的行為。而就儒學內部而言,他亦由早年的喜好理學而轉向對之作全面的系統性批評,批評其中所參雜的佛學。他的走向全面解經亦同時意味著對於朱子經學的全面性批判,他反對將《大學》、《中庸》從《禮記》中單獨抽出而與《論語》、《孟子》合為《四書》,欲以《九經》的架構取代朱子的理學建構下的《四書五經》的架構。郝敬所做的這一層層的破的工作,最後,是要回到孔子及其原典《論語》那裡。將這些選擇性行為合而觀之,可視為他對“純化儒學之追求,這點正是後來清學之追求所在。這些討論亦顯示經學這一知識樣態乃是儒學的整體性變化的一部分。 / 郝敬經解既區別于理學解經之追求“宗旨,亦區別于漢儒解經之重在訓詁,是要在宋儒解經與漢儒解經之外,建立另一新的解經系統。他批評後世儒者解經“專執典要,而強調“不可為典要,又強調“識、“辨,由此形成其作為群經辨偽之集大成之解經特色。這同時也帶來他的經解既富創辟,同時又有臆斷的特色。 / 郝敬經解極大影響了復社的陳子龍(1608-1647)、朱鶴齡(1606-1683)、朱朝瑛(1605-1670)、錢澄之(1612-1694)、陳啟源(?-1689)等。它對黃宗羲(1610-1695)、黃宗炎(1616-1686)兄弟由心學轉向經學起了決定性作用,黃氏甬上講經會正是讀郝敬經解。郝敬經學更影響黃宗羲的下一代人,如門人萬斯大(1633-1683)、萬斯同(1638-1702)兄弟以及與他們交遊的閻若璩(1636-1704)、姚際恒(1647-約1715)、毛奇齡(1623-1716)、胡渭(1633-1714)、朱彝尊(1629-1709)這一活躍在京師北京的清初經學最重要的文人圈。萬斯大評價郝敬 “窮經者盡宗之,一語道出了郝敬經學在當時的“宗師位置。而被清儒視為清代經學開山者的閻若璩、胡渭之立說乃直接出自郝敬。從郝敬的經學到清初的經學辨偽,可以看到清學是從晚明內部自然產生出來的,郝敬對於清學的發生所起的作用比顧炎武(1613-1682)、黃宗羲、閻若璩、胡渭等更直接、更早,也更全方位。 / 在清初,《康熙字典》、御撰各經的傳說,以及其他種種御制、欽定著作都大量引用郝敬之說。清初私塾課本對於各經的解釋都收有郝敬的東西,可以看出郝敬對於清代從國家、士人到民間私塾各個層面的全面影響。由郝敬對於晚明、清初經學的全方位影響,直至持續影響到雍正以至乾隆初年近百年這些眾多的材料證明:由於郝敬《九經解》的出現,清人所謂明人無學無經學之說可休矣。郝敬以一人之偉力,以其《九經解》全面開啟了清代經學。 / 郝敬既全面批評朱子,又激烈批評鄭玄關於《三禮》的訓詁,尤其是其攻鄭玄,終於使得郝敬之經著雖然影響了各個層面的學問,而受其影響者的著作反被大量收入於《四庫》,其中有的亦被視為清學之開山,而郝敬的經學著作卻沒有一本收錄於《四庫》,都只在存目,趨於湮沒。郝敬經學在後世湮沒的另一個原因則是乾嘉家法,即新的學術典範的出現以及愈來愈嚴厲化的典範展現。 / This thesis studies the comprehensive influence of the Ming Dynasty Confucian Hao Jing's study of the Confucian classics and his great work Jiujing jie (Interpretation of Nine Classics) on the characteristics of early Qing study of Confucian classics, which reveals a paradigmatic shift from the learning of Neo-Confucianism prevailing in the Ming. / It begins with a detailed study of Hao Jing’s career as a Confucian scholar-official. Hao Jing's career is divided into two rather different stages, marked by his resigning office and returning home for study of the Confucian classics. In the earlier stage, he was a scholar-official, devoted to governmental affairs but also living parts of a life of a man of letters. He changed in many aspects after he completed his work on re-interpreting the Confucian classics. One notable change is his strong criticism of Buddhism and Daoism, thus delineating himself from the advocacy of the syncretism of “three religions of Confucianism , Daoism and Buddhism that prevailed in the late Ming Dynasty. As a result , he proposed restructured funeral and sacrifice etiquettes that were the center of Confucian rituals. He gave up his admiration for Li Zhi, the late Ming critic of traditional values and conformities, but criticized him sharply. As for the study of Confucianism , Hao Jing no longer loved Neo-Confucianism as he did in his early years. Relatedly, he launched systematic criticism of Buddhist elements in Neo-Confucianism. His total involvement in re-interpreting the Confucian classics also meant his all out criticism of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism. He was against the separation of the Daxue (The Great Learning) and the Zhongyong (The Doctrine of the Mean) from the Liji (Book of Rites) and their subsequent merge with The Confucian Analects and The Mencius to form the Sishu (The Four Books). He proposed to replace the structure of Sishu wujing (The Four Books and Five Classics) under the Neo-Confucian framework established by Zhu Xi by a structure of Jiujing (Nine Classics). The originality of Hao Jing can be traced to the personality of Confucius and his words in The Confucian Analects. Hao Jing’s words and deeds can be considered as reflections of his pursuit of “purified Confucianism, which was what mainstream Qing Confucian scholarship was seeking for. Hao’s classical discourses reveal a solid part of the overal changes in Confucianism of Ming and Qing times. / Different from Neo-Confucian pursuits of doctrinal “tenets (zongzhi)and Han Confucian exegesis that highlights annotation of words in ancient books, Hao’s interpretations of the Confucian classics were intended to establish a new system of classics exegesis. While criticizing later Confucians for “insisting on fixed standards in interpreting the classics, he stressed that Confucians should be capable of “understanding the truth of the classics and “distinguishing the falsification of classical texts. He is a master of that. But that also led to his novel but arbitrary interpretations of the classics. / Hao Jing's classical exegesis exerted tremendous influence on many members of the Fu Society (a noted literary society in late Ming Dynasty), such as Chen Zilong(16081647), Zhu Heling(1606-1683), Zhu Chaoying(16051670), Qian Chengzhi(1612-1694) , and Chen Qiyuan (?-1689). He also had huge impact on Huang Zongxi(1610-1695)and his brother Huang Zongyan(1616-1686)in their deemphasizing the philosophy of the mind and advocacy of studying the Confucian classics. Huang often read Hao's exegesis at gatherings of reading classics(jiangjinghui) in Yongshang. He even influenced Huang Zongxi’s disciples, like Wan Sida(1633-1683) and his brother Wan Sitong(1638-1702) as well as their friends like Yan Ruoju(1636-1704), Yao Jiheng (1647- about 1715) , Hu Wei(1633-1714)and Zhu Yizun(1629-1709), who were active in scholarly circles with interests in classical studying in Beijing in the early Qing Dynasty. Wan Sida commented Hao this way: " Those who endeavor to delve into the classics all revere him as a master". The scholarly achievements of Yan Ruoju and Hu Wei, founder of classical studies of the Qing Dynasty, also owed much to the works of Hao. This then points to the origins of early Qing approach to classical scholarship in the late Ming. In the Ming-Qing transition, Hao played a role that contributed more directly and comprehensively than that of Gu Yanwu(1613-1682),Huang Zongxi, Yan Ruoju and Hu Wei. / In the early Qing, the imperially-sponsored Kangxi Dictionary, the classical commentaries the Kangxi emperor authored, and many other works attributed to the emperors or sanctioned by them, quoted liberally from Hao's works and cited a multitude of his views and points.Hao’s interpretations on the classics were even included in the textbooks of private schools. Hao's widespread influence ranged from the state level to the general public. His influence on classical study continued until the reign of Yongzheng and early period of Qianlong. Because of the impact of Hao’s scholarship for nearly 100 years, we have strong evidence to consider the Qing Dynasty criticism that "Ming Dynasty lacked classical scholarship groundless. Hao's Interpretation on the Nine Classics, which ushered in Qing style classical study, bore relevance to classical scholarship from the Tianqi and Chongzhen periods of the Ming to the Qianlong period of the Qing a century-long period. / The ebbs of Hao Jing’s influence was due to a paradigmatic change in the heydays of the Qianlong-Jiaqing periodlate 18th century to early 19th century. Hao Jing criticized Zhu Zi roundly, and attacked Zheng Xuan's exegesis of the Three Rites violently.Thus he offended the ideological orthodoxy and the scholarly orthodoxy. As a result, many of his works were excluded from copying into the Siku Quanshu (Complete Library of the Four Branches of Chinese Works). They were only catalogued with abstracts critical of their contents. Erring Knights of Desire: The Romance in Santa Teresa's Libro de la vida and Edmund Spenser's The Faerie QueeneStanfill, Emily Marie 30 August 2007 (has links)
This study explores how romance opens the texts of two sixteenth-century authors. The first is the autobiography, Libro de la vida, of Spanish nun, mystic, and reformer, Santa Teresa de Jésus. Amidst the narrative of her life and her instructions on how to better live the mystical life, Teresa uses the mode of romance to construct herself and God in complicated and often conflicting roles: she the wandering (sinning) knight-errant who quests towards the ideal lady, Christ; she the walled garden into which her lover enters for fleeting moments of bliss; she the passive feminine recipient of God's forceful loves; she her own black knight, her own dark forest, through which she must fight to reach the throne of the Beloved. Reading Teresa in this light underscores the ways in which she deconstructs the sublimating, transcending, and bodiless love historically directed towards the God of the Western tradition to reveal a love fraught with mutability and painful separation. As God absents himself from her, mourning assails her and causes her to wish for death, the only bower that promises perfect proximity. In this conflicted realm of mortality in which she longs for death but must continue to live, Teresa moves past her desire into a space for faith. In the second text, Edmund Spenser's The Faerie Queene, Spenser uses the capaciousness of the romance genre to express his desires for certain political, economical, and spiritual ends by constructing the Faerie Queene as a representative of Elizabeth I who in turn represents the potential for the realization of these hoped for ideals. The study focuses on one particular interchange between the Faerie Queene and the culturally-loaded icon of Arthur, and how Spenser imbues this moment with ambiguity, both posturing Arthur as the Queene's lover and her progenitor. The magical space of romance thus allows Spenser to simultaneously criticize, encourage, and praise Elizabeth, despite the inevitability that she will disappoint him. Despite disappointment, Spenser continues to strive for the temporal perfection of England, which ultimately leads him to an unyielding hope for the perfection of the immutable kingdom of heaven.

Notre thèse est une étude sur les méthodes didactiques du grec ancien. À travers l’analyse de la crise actuelle de l’enseignement des langues anciennes et de la méthode grammaire-traduction, nous essayons de démontrer qu’aujourd’hui il serait souhaitable d’aller vers des choix didactiques différents. Nous concentrons notre intérêt notamment sur les manuels appelés story-based courses, dont les plus connus sont la méthode Ørberg, le Cambridge Latin Course, Athenaze et Reading Greek. Ces ouvrages sont caractérisés par un récit ininterrompu rédigé en latin ou en grec concernant la civilisation ancienne ; ils proposent une approche inductive de la langue favorisant la lecture cursive et un apprentissage linguistique « naturel ». Nous traitons ainsi l’aspect des pratiques pédagogiques à adopter en classe, aspect qui demeure fondamental pour mettre en œuvre un enseignement cohérent avec ces outils. Des expériences passées (notamment celle de Rouse à la Perse school de Cambridge) mais aussi l’enquête que nous avons menée au liceo classico Francesco De Sanctis de Salerne, révèlent jusqu’à quel point notre enseignement peut être bouleversé et dans quelle mesure les réactions des élèves peuvent changer. Les réflexions issues de notre travail, qui s’adresse en particulier aux enseignant de langues anciennes, visent notamment à permettre une connaissance raisonnée de la méthode natura qui dépasse les préjugés qui souvent l’accompagnent et à en évaluer toutes les potentialités. / Our thesis is a study of the teaching methods for Ancient Greek. Through an analysis of the current crisis in the teaching of ancient languages and of the grammar-translation method, we will attempt to demonstrate that nowadays it would be desirable to make different teaching choices. In particular, we focus our interest on manuals called “story-based courses”. The most widely known of these, are the Ørberg method, the Cambridge Latin Course, Athenaze and Reading Greek. These works are characterized by an ongoing tale written in Latin or Greek and concerning the ancient civilization. They offer an inductive approach to the language, that favors fast reading and a “natural” language learning. We also discuss the matter of the educational practices to adopt in class, which remain essential to create a teaching coherent with these tools. Past experiences (in particular the one led by Rouse at the Perse School of Cambridge), but also the research we have carried out at Liceo Classico Francesco De Sanctis of Salerno, have revealed just how much our teaching can be subverted and how much the students’ reactions might vary. The reflections from our work, which is addressed primarily to teachers of ancient languages, aim specifically to allow a reasoned knowledge of the natura method, overcoming the prejudices that often accompany it and evaluating all its potential.

王安石經學近十年來開始受到關注(2000年以來);在此之前,王安石的變法改革思想和詩文集的研究,其實已經非常蓬勃(1949-1990),尤其變法改革思想正好符合清末和新中國極欲改革的需求,因此,在大陸和美國都有王安石變法研究的專家。稍後有王安石思想具有道、佛思想的研究(1980-2000)。截至2010年,海峽兩岸相關王安石研究的單篇論文有三千多篇,博、碩士論文有六十多篇。而真正以王安石經學著作為主要研究對象的博、碩士論文海峽兩岸計有六本,而且都聚集在近十年(2005年以來)。
王安石經學著作在明初已全部亡佚,目前可見的只有清代所輯的《周官新義》一部輯佚書。王安石參與的宋代熙寧變法所著的《三經新義》,最為人所熟知的是《周官新義》,內容鋪陳改革宋代吏治與經濟的藍圖,受到撻伐最深,王安石將他當作政治實踐的計畫書,最具有宋代精神,卻是偏離上古三代精神較遠。至於《尚書新義》則是規範帝王修身和治國的政治之書。
而王安石的《詩經新義》則不同,內容平易近人,其闡發儒家精神與禮儀規範,對於人倫與禮儀、人性與人為制度的推敲拿捏,在遵守禮樂之外,還有更多人文精神的體會。而王安石和《詩》的淵源其實頗深,從案頭書到科舉必讀經典,都可以看到王安石對於《詩》的重視。透過研究王安石的《詩經新義》,可以看到王安石學術思想理念的初衷─儒家經典理念和人倫禮儀思想;除了他對原始儒家、三代聖王賢人精神的繼承,還可以看到王安石對於人生倫理的規劃,這正是本文以王安石《詩經新義》為研究對象的重要價值所在。

Few women of antiquity have gripped the public imagination as Cleopatra has. For centuries, she has inspired playwrights, poets, artists and film-makers, with the result that she and Antony are arguably history's most famous lovers. However, I have not yet encountered a study which discusses, in one work, the multiple constructions of Cleopatra across the range of genres in which she has been represented. Certainly, many books and articles are devoted to revealing how Cleopatra has been constructed in one or other specific genre, but it seems as though no attempts have been made to portray, in juxtaposition to one another, the many faces of Cleopatra. This dissertation seeks to do just that. Although I could not possibly include a discussion ofevery genre in which Cleopatra has been constructed, I have chosen six areas for study: ancient Greek biography
(using Plutarch's Life ofAntony); the poetry of the Augustan poets: Vergil (the Aeneid), Horace (Ode 1.37) and Propertius (Elegies 3.11); Shakespearean tragedy (Antony and Cleopatra); art (numismatics
and ancient sculpture); film (Joseph Mankiewicz's Cleopatra), and, briefly, Africanist historiography. I have chosen these areas because each offers such diverse constructions of Cleopatra that one begins to appreciate how historiography, propaganda and representation have contributed to the shaping ofthe Cleopatra myth, coloured by the ideology ofthe age in which she has been interpreted afresh. From the first to the fourth century AD, male perceptions of female sexuality
underwent a radical change with the advent of Christianity. This thesis is an
investigation into classical male and Christian male perceptions of female sexuality,
to determine the manner and extent to which this change in perceptions took place.
The investigation will be two-fold, studying both the laws that established these
perceptions, as well as representations of female sexuality within specific, subjective
male-authored texts. A study of the marriage legislation of Augustus and a male
writer of the early Empire, Apuleius, shows an underlying pattern of thought, or
paradigm, of female sexuality among classical males. Female sexuality was
perceived as existing for the sole purpose of procreation, and males in positions of
authority thought that it needed to be under male control in order to ensure
acceptable sexual behaviour. They believed this would be best achieved by situating
it under the authority of the family. With the advent of Christianity, however, a new
competing paradigm on female sexuality emerged, which challenged the perceptions
of men of the classical era. The church fathers spurned the classical view of female
sexuality by instead advocating lifelong celibacy. They too, believed female
sexuality had to be controlled, but they placed it under the authority of the church,
and outside the family. Since the basis of the classical and Christian patterns of
thought differed so markedly, especially when the Christian paradigm was first
being formulated in the second century, it was inevitable that they would come into
"
conflict. Advocates of the classical paradigm tried to suppress Christianity by
persecuting its supporters. Some Christian women became victims of this conflict.
This thesis will also include an example of this conflict - the martyrdom of the
female Christian Perpetua, who left a record of her persecution in the form of a
diary. The conversion of the Emperor Constantine to Christianity in the fourth
century brought about the end of the conflict ana a victory for the Christian
paradigm. The church fathers suggest that the shift from classical to Christian was
total and complete. However, closer examination of Constantine's legislation and
the work of the influential church father Jerome shows that while this shift was
complete in theory, it did not extend very far into social and legal practice.
Although the Christian ideals of the church fathers were a major component of thenew paradigm, it also came to be composed of classical notions - now motivated by
Christian thought - that were held by Constantine and the upper classes. It was
these classical notions that shaped the social reality of life in the fourth century AD.
The nature and extent of the paradigm shift was therefore radical and far-reaching in

Honour and revenge : a study of the role of honour in Euripides' Medea and Hippolytus with reference to a selection of contemporary societies.Barrett, Deborah. January 1998 (has links)
My purpose in this study is twofold. Firstly, I intend to examine the existence of honour in Greek society by an analysis of its presentation in works of Greek literature. In order to achieve this, I shall first examine the values of the Homeric, heroic society so that a picture of the code of honour that was used in those times, might be established. This code of honour provided the foundation upon which later honourable behaviour was based and from which it grew; it is, therefore, a necessary addition in a study such as this. Then, I shall proceed to a study of Euripides' Medea
and Hippolytus, two plays that firmly incorporate the motif of honour and revenge. Secondly, I intend to examine a few examples of modern societies. The purpose of this is to ascertain whether any relationship between archaic, classical and contemporary cultures can be established. Human Love and Divine Love: The Platonic Matrix in C.S. LewisCase, Laura 01 July 1975 (has links)
A comparison of the writings of Plato and C.S. Lewis reveals a common idea that human love is not sufficient for man. An examination of Plato’s Symposium and Lewis’s Till We Have Faces and The Four Loves, in particular, shows that both writers illustrate that man must ascend the ladder of love in order to meet the source of all love: Divine Love. Concerned with man’s innate needs and ethics, both Plato and Lewis argue that there is a universal principle of goodness known to all men of all cultures. Lewis argues, especially in The Abolition of Man, that man must cling to the traditional notion that a sense of right and wrong is inherent in all men. Illustrated in the measurably modified version of the Cupid and Psyche myth retold in Till We Have Faces, Lewis reveals that man’s natural relationships cannot satisfy his yearning for the union with beauty and truth found only in a supernatural relationship with Divine Love: God. Similar to Plato’s thought recorded in his dialogues, Lewis projects in most of his writings the argument that man cannot find the good life until he seeks the virtuous life that leads to harmony with men and joy found in the presence of God.

[pt] Para esta tese, a adaptação escolar é a atualização de um discurso literário. Adaptações existem e são necessárias porque toda sociedade é construída por meio de uma rede sofisticada e complexa de discursos; para se manter coesa ou para se reconstruir constantemente uma sociedade precisa saber como atualizá-los. O que nunca é simples, fácil ou livre de conflitos. A função da adaptação dentro
do sistema escolar é manter viva a tradição considerada de valor, apresentando a uma nova geração o que se convencionou chamar de cânone literário. Afinal, a tradição só se mantém pela renovação. Revendo a história do livro e do copyright, podemos perceber tanto as origens da adaptação escolar como as razões dos preconceitos contra este gênero específico. Com base em Foucault, Said, Borges e Lobato, esta tese contrapõe a literatura como narrativa à ideologia do texto fixo formulada no século XVIII. O maior desafio do adaptador ao resumir o enredo é escolher onde (ou como) cortar. A narrativa resumida é uma nova narrativa, que tem de ser a mesma (conter o passado, o cânone) e ser outra (estar contida na recepção dos leitores). O adaptador precisa atualizar a linguagem de forma adequada à faixa etária do leitor e respeitar limites impostos pela moral vigente. É preciso conhecer a fundo a obra a ser adaptada, entender
porque ela permaneceu e continuou a ser lida, cultuada, sobrevivendo ao implacável teste do tempo. As
hipóteses desta tese foram testadas por meio de duas pesquisas de campo realizadas com leitores da sétima série do ensino fundamental a partir de adaptações escritas por Ana Maria Machado e Ruth Rocha. / [en] The present study deals with adaptations of literary classics for adoption by schools. This thesis is based on the premise that every adaptation written for young readers is an actualization of a literary discourse.
Adaptations exist and are necessary because every society is built by means of a sophisticated and complex net of discourses (artistic, juridical, scientific, political, religious etc.); and for society to maintain a certain cohesion and to rebuild itself constantly, it must be capable of actualizing them - a task which is by no means simple, easy or free from conflicts. The function of using adaptations in schools is to keep alive and active a tradition which is considered valuable, by presenting to a new generation of readers what has come to be considered as the literary canon. After all, traditions can only be maintained through renewal: a literary discourse which is not actualized through attracting new readers ends up being forgotten and abandoned. By studying the history of the book and of copyright, we can identify both the origins of adaptations written for schools as part of the educational system and the reasons behind certain prejudices against this specific genre. Based on Michel Foucault, Edward Said, Jorge Luis Borges and
Monteiro Lobato, this thesis counterposes literature as narrative with the ideology of the fixed text
formulated in the 18th century. The greatest challenge for the adaptor in his task of summarizing and rewriting the plot is choosing where (or how) to cut it. A summarized narrative becomes a new narrative, one where a story with a beginning, a middle and an end has to be told. It has to be at the same time the
same narrative (containing the past, the canon) and a different one (accessible by the reader s receptive competence). The adaptor needs to adapt the language to the reader s age group as well as to respect the limits imposed by the prevailing moral code. Technique, talent and research are required to achieve this balance. One has to know the work to be adapted extremely well, be able to understand why it has lasted and continues to be read and revered, surviving the test of time. The hypotheses put forward in this thesis were tested in two lots of field work carried out with readers in the seventh grade of secondary education, on adaptations written by Ana Maria Machado and Ruth Rocha.
