Jämförelse av stegljudsisolering mellan tre olika bjälklagstyper / Comparison of the impact sound insulation between three different joist systems

I en byggnad kan ljud och vibrationer från steg spridas och dessa ljud kan störa de människor som vistas i byggnaden. Stegljudsisoleringsförmågan hos ett bjälklag beror på hur det är konstruerat och hur hög styvhet och massa bjälklaget har. I detta arbete undersöks stegljudsisoleringen hos tre bjälklagstyper. Dessa är monterade i befintliga byggnader, belägna i Växjö och ägda av fastighetsbolaget Videum.   Syftet med arbetet var att undersöka vilket av de tre bjälklagstyperna som är bäst lämpat att ha i en kontors- eller universitetsbyggnad, med avseende på akustik. Vidare var syftet att undersöka vilket av dessa tre bjälklag som avskärmar stegljud i horisontalled mest effektivt. Målet med arbetet har varit att genomföra en standardiserad stegljudsmätning och en enkätundersökning för att kunna fastställa vilket av de undersökta bjälklagen som har bäst stegljudsisolering. Data från dessa undersökningar har analyserats och beräknats.   Resultatet från stegljudsmätning och enkätundersökning visar att det bjälklag som avskärmar stegljud bäst är KL-träskiva med betongpågjutning. De undersökta bjälklagskonstruktionerna inklusive anslutningar till väggar är inte helt jämförbara och därför bör det nämnas att resultaten avser konstruktionslösningen som helhet och inte enbart själva bjälklaget. / Sound and vibration which originate from footsteps can spread in a building and may disturb the people who residence it. Ability to insulate impact sound varies depending on how the joists system is designed and how high its stiffness and mass are. In this thesis the impact sound insulation of three different joists systems will be examined. The joists systems are installed in existing buildings located in Växjö, Sweden and owned by the real estate company Videum.   The purpose of the thesis was to examine which of the three different joists systems that is most suitable for office- and university buildings, concerning acoustics. Furthermore, the purpose was to examine which of the joists systems that has the best ability to sequester impact sound horizontally. The goal with the thesis was to perform a standardized impact sound insulation measurement and a survey to determine which of the joists systems that has the best impact sound insulation. All data was analyzed and calculated.   The results show that the CLT board with a concrete layer reduces the impact sound most efficiently. However, it should be mentioned that the designs of the objects are not fully comparable and therefore the results relate to the entire design including the wall floor connection, rather than to the joists systems alone.

Byggnadstaktenav flerbostadshus i Sverige ligger på en hög nivå och ökar. Detta medför kravpå en snabb byggprocess. En lösning för att snabba på byggprocessen äranvändandet av prefabricerade delar. Författarnas uppgift, i samarbete med WSPSverige AB, är att utveckla ett hjälpmedel för konstruktörer som jämför fyraolika bjälklag, varav ett i korslimmat trä, två prefabricerade betongelementoch en platsgjuten konstruktion. Målet är att framställa en tabell som beaktarfaktorer som påverkar valet av stomsystem och som presenterar vilket avbjälklagen som är mest kostnadseffektivt. Rapporten sammanställdes under 10veckor och avgränsades till bjälklag i flerbostadshus upplagda på två stöd somuppfyller relevanta krav för dimensionering, beaktar torktid med fastaförutsättningar, leveranstid avseende produktionstid hos de prefabriceradeelementen och miljöpåverkan avseende CO2-ekvivalenta utsläpp iproduktionsskedet. Studiens resultat grundar sig på litteraturstudier ochintervjuer, kalkylhjälpmedel och beräkningsprogram som är vanliga i branschen.Resultatet visar att: · trä genererar lägst koldioxidutsläpp avbjälklagsalternativen · betong är, ur ett brand- och ljudperspektiv, detlämpligaste materialet · korslimmade träbjälklaget får den högsta byggnadshöjdenoch den högsta kostnaden per kvadratmeter · håldäcksbjälklag har den kortaste leveranstiden · det slakarmerade plattbärlag samt det platsgjutnabetongbjälklaget har längst torktid · den platsgjutna bjälklagskonstruktionen är detmest kostnadseffektiva bjälklaget av de fyra som har jämförts. / The building pace of multi apartment houses in Sweden is at a high leveland is increasing. This induces demands of a quick building process. Onesolution to quicken the building process is the use of prefabricated elements.The authors’ task, in collaboration with WSP Sverige AB, is to develop anaiding tool for engineers who compare different slabs, one cross laminatedwood, two precast concrete components and one construction cast in-place. Thegoal is to produce a table that considers factors that affects the choice ofstructure and presents which of the slabs that is most cost effective. Thepaper was compiled over a period of 10 weeks and limited to slabs inmulti-apartment buildings supported on two sides that meet relevantrequirements for dimensioning, consider hydration time with set conditions,delivery time regarding production time for the precast components andenvironmental effects considering CO2-equivalent emissions in the productionstage. Jämförelsestudier mellan olika typer av korslimmat träbjälklag: : Undersökning av konsekvenser vid ändring från betong- till korslimmat trä- bjälklag i ett flervåningshus

Timber is one of the most common materials that had been use for a long time. The need for new buildings will affect the climate negatively, that is why it’s necessarily to find new ways to build quickly and sustainably. Cross-laminated timber (CLT) product came in the 1990- century. The material was developed to be used in high residential wood constructions buildings. The material considered to have good properties compared with other types of wood material, some of the studies showed the possibilities of building high residential with the CLT material. Such high rises buildings work best when CLT wood constructions combined with other materials, which called, Composite constructions. Case study preformed theoretically in Fullriggaren building in Alderholmen in Gävle city, the building have 14 floors and about 40 m high. With the purpose of trying to investigate the consequences that occur when the concrete floor slabs were replaces  with CLT wood floor slabs, taking into account the rules and standards for fire safety, acoustics, oscillations and vibrations. In order to achieve this and to determine the most suitable alternatives, the different types of CLT-wood floor slabs was compared. The building studied in its design and execution, and a simpler model created in Revit 2018. The challenge was that the building has a long span of maximum 10 m. The different types of CLT floor slabs which compared in the study was, CLT timber joist slaps, flat floor slab and CLT wood floor slabs in combination with steel hat beams and other beam steel types. Each type of floor slabs had its advantages and disadvantages, but the results and studies showed that timber and concrete composite floor slab combined with steel hat beams are the best possible options for the construction in Fullriggaren building, where the floor slab height is the shortest compared to other CLT wood floor types. With the chosen floor slab, the problem of vibration and oscillations will minimize. When using such a floor slab, the building height will increase, which means in this case, removing an entire floor from the building. / Trä är ett av de vanligaste material som har används sedan länge i byggkonstruktioner. Behovet av nya byggnader kommer att påverka klimatet på ett negativ sätt, därför är det bra att bygga snabbt och hållbart. Korslimmat trä (KL-trä) är en produkt som kom under 1990-talet. Trämaterialet utvecklades där den kan användas i träkonstruktioner i flervåningshus.Materialet anses ha goda egenskaper jämfört med andra typer av trämaterialen, litteraturstudier visade på möjligheten att bygga högt med KL-trämaterialet. Liknande höghus fungerar bäst när KL-träkonstruktioner kombineras med andra material s.k. Hybrida konstruktioner. Fallstudien utfördes teoretisk i  Fullriggarenbyggnaden i Alderholmen i Gävle, som består av 14 våningar och är ca  40 m högt. Syftet var att undersöka konsekvenserna som uppstår när betongbjälklaget ersätts med KL-träbjälklag, hänsyn tas till regler och normer när det gäller brandsäkerhet, akustik, svängningar och vibrationer. För att uppnå detta och kunna bestämma lämpligaste alternativ, jämfördes olika typer av KL-träbjälklag. Byggnaden undersöktes beträffande konstruktion och utförande, och en enklare modell skapades i Revit 2018. Utmaningen var att byggnaden har långa spännvidder med max 10 m. Olika typer av KL-bjälklag jämfördes som kassettbjälklag, samverkanbjälklag, plattbjälklag och KL-trä bjälklag i kombination med stålhattbalkar och andra ståltyper. Varje typ av bjälklag har sina fördelar och nackdelar, men resultatet och studierna visade att samverkabjälklag kombinerad  med stålhattbalkar är den bästa lösningen för konstruktionen i Fullriggaren, då dess tvärsnitthöjd är den minsta jämfört med andra KL-träbjälklagtyper. Med det valde  bjälklaget minskas även problemet med vibrationer och svängningar. Vid användning av detta bjälklag kommer byggnadshöjden att ökas, vilket leder till att  en våning måste väljas bort.

Mätning av fuktkvot i sammansatta KL-träelement / Moisture content measurements in assembled CLT-elements

Fuktskador är ett problem som kan uppstå vid byggnation i trä om konstruktionen exponeras för nederbörd under byggtiden. Mätning av fuktkvoter i trä kan utföras med flera olika instrument och metoder. Syftet med arbetet är att studera fuktkvotsförändringar i korslimmade träelement som utsätts för långvarig nederbörd i laborationsmiljö. För att utveckla detta område har Linnéuniversitetet tillsammans med Saab utvecklat ett eget mätinstrument. Instrumentet mäter resistans i trä som jämförs med mätvärden från ett annat instrument vid namn Gigamodule. Det egenutvecklade sensorkortet är fortfarande under utveckling. Förutom i arbetets försöksuppställning testas instrumentet även i en byggnad i Växjö. För kontroll av mätresultat har fler metoder och instrument använts. Två modeller har använts som representerar detalj vid anslutning av väggelement-och mellanbjälklag. Båda modellerna har under lika lång tid varit nedsänkta i vattenbad. Försöksuppställningen har utförts mellan 19:e april och 18:e maj 2018. Mätningar och beräkningar har resulterat i jämförbara resultat. Skillnader i resultat utifrån träets fiberriktning har visats från flera instrument. KL-träelementen har uppvisat en god förmåga att trots höga fuktkvotsvärden torka ut och återgå mot normala värden under mätperioden. / Moisture related damage is an occurring problem in wood-based buildings if the material is exposed to rainfall during construction. Measurement of moisture content can be done with various instruments and methods. The purpose of the thesis is to study change in moisture content in cross-laminated-timber, with prolonged exposure to water in laboratory environment. To advance the field, the Linnaeus University has been developing a measurement instrument of their own in collaboration with the company Saab. The instrument measures electrical resistance in wood where the obtained values will be compared to similar measurements from a product named Gigamodule. The self-developed sensor card is still a product under development. In addition to the lab setting measurements the instrument was also installed in a local building in Växjö. To verify the result from the previously mentioned resistance measurers additional instruments and methods have been utilized. Two separate models have been used to represent the detail of the connection between the wall element and the joist. Both models have been submerged under water for an equal amount of time. The experimental setting took place between the 19th of April to the 18th of May 2018. The measurements and calculations have been resulting in values that can be the subject of internal evaluation. Difference in result based on the direction of the grain have been observed in several measurement methods. The CLT-elements demonstrated good drying properties despite periodically high moisture content and the wood indicate a return towards initial levels of moisture.

The phenomenal ideology : Phenomenological investigations of EFL teacher methodologies, experiences, and the 2011 syllabus.

This study aims to outline, describe, and analyse, using interviews, phenomenology and Marxism, the manner in which EFL teachers in Sweden have experienced the methodological impacts and the ideological implications of the 2011 syllabus reforms. By means of phenomenological reduction, this study aims to accurately represent the life-world of the Swedish EFL professional. Doing so yields insight into the connections between ideology, syllabi, teaching methodologies, and the manner in which these are experienced. The study is based on a text analysis of the 2011 syllabus grounded in Marxist philosophy and four interviews with teachers active in southern Sweden. The design of the interviews was drawn from the phenomenological approach, meaning that the teachers were asked to describe and conceptualise freely. In this manner the phenomena will occur as they are, enabling the researcher to describe without intruding, and extrapolate without interrupting. The interviews revealed the syllabus to be a document with which EFL professionals have little quarrel. Its communicative approach was well-received by the teachers, but by no means overwhelmingly revolutionary. Its openness and interpretative aspects were positive and negative, as it created both freedoms and risks in terms of content and assessment. In ideological terms, the syllabus represented a skill-value relation, where skills and knowledge are subject to criteria of usefulness and marketability within the learners’ future work life.

Kan korslaminerat trä effektivisera ett byggsystem : En jämförelse av flervåningshus i trä

The construction of wooden multi-storey buildings creates issues with the acoustic environment. To meet Boverkets soundproofing requirements the solutions of today results in thick partition building components taking up potential floor space. Crosslaminatedtimber is a solid timber slab that can be manufactured in varying sizes and thicknesses. These boards can then be used as supporting elements in walls, ceilings and floors. This study investigates whether cross-laminated timber can be used to streamline the construction of multi-storey wooden buildings. In this comparative survey a reference building constructed by A-hus was used and current loads, sound insulation, use of floorspace and economy were analyzed. Four different alternative walls and one floor constructed with cross-laminated timber have been studied according to the above named criteria, and then compared with the reference building. The result indicates that a wall with 80 mm cross-laminated timber board has the load capacity required, improves sound insulation and saving 16 m2 of floorspace in the reference building valued to approximately 695,000 SEK in increased sales revenue. Using cross-laminated timber in the floor does not sufficient improve A-hus current construction system and should therefore not be interesting.

Developing proficiency in Afrikaans as an additional language : criteria for materials development

The current movement towards multilingualism and multiculturalism in South Africa has placed language at the centre of all educational activity. With the implementation of the outcomes-based Curriculum 2005, the emphasis is on appropriate learning support material, and the learning programmes are seen as guides that allow teachers to be innovative and creative in designing instructional and learning material. The fact that Afrikaans was one of three compulsory language subjects at a school in the Soweto area motivated researchers of Technikon South Africa to embark upon an outreach project. The latter entailed a remedial programme to address the lack of Afrikaans language proficiency of the Grade 12 learners at this school. My role as the remedial teacher and my subsequent responsibility for the development of appropriate and relevant learning material for the intervention provided the impetus and motivation for this research. The aim of the study was to determine the criteria for developing materials, in order to develop the proficiency in Afrikaans of Grade 12 additional language learners. The intervention took the form of an ongoing action research cycle. The magnitude of the proficiency dilemma in this study was revealed by a pre-intervention assessment. Apart from the learners’ poor functional Afrikaans literacy, it also became apparent that the influence of affective variables in additional language learning should be considered. The literature survey undertaken to articulate the relevant information about Communicative Language teaching (CLT) emphasised the kind of teaching necessary to develop proficiency in an additional language. In addition, the exploration of the influence of affective factors on additional language teaching and learning allowed a better understanding of the learners’ needs and ensured a learning-centered approach. In the process of materials selection, adaptation and development, it was necessary to relate learning principles and procedure to theory, research methods and classroom practice. Reviewing the literature on issues such as designing and developing materials contributed to a pragmatic approach to materials development, and assisted in establishing the criteria for the development of appropriate materials. The study has attempted to show how to design appropriate and relevant teaching materials guided by a set of criteria. The implementation of the materials in the classroom integrated theory and practice. Thus in practice, through different action research cycles, the developed materials were shown to comply with the theoretical criteria to establish their effectiveness, and refined to suit the proficiency level of the particular learners. Finally, critical reflection resulted in a redesigned set of materials for Afrikaans as an additional language. The post-intervention assessment showed that there was indeed an improvement in the learners’ proficiency levels and that the average grade of their proficiency levels improved. Other findings suggested the probability of a positive attitude change in the learners. Embora tal problema tenha surgido na década de 1960, uma nova motivação surgiu nos anos 1990 quando dados empíricos mostraram que várias espécies de animais, sob condições gerais (especialmente escassez de comida), não usam estratégias brownianas de busca, mas sim distribuições de Lévy. A principal diferença entre elas é que as distribuições de Lévy decaem muito mais lentamente com a distância (com cauda do tipo lei de potência no limite de longos passos), não obedecendo, portanto, ao Teorema do Limite Central, e apresentam propriedades interessantes, como fractalidade, superdifusão e autoafinidade. Estes experimentos, juntamente com conceitos evolucionistas, levantaram a suspeita de que tal escolha pode ter sido adotada por ser mais vantajosa para o buscador, uma idéia conhecida como Lévy Flight Foraging Hypothesis. Em nosso estudo, definimos a eficiência da busca e obtemos a sua expressão analítica para o modelo. Utilizamos métodos computacionais para comparar as eficiências associadas às distribuições de Lévy e duas outras dentre as mais citadas na literatura, a gama e a "stretched exponential", concluindo que a de Lévy representa a melhor estratégia. Finalmente, empregamos métodos variacionais de extremização e obtemos a equação de Euler do problema. / In this work we study the one-dimensional random walk problem as a model to find which probability distribution function (pdf) is the best strategy when looking for randomly istributed target sites whose locations are not known, when the searcher has only limited information about its vicinity. Although research on this problem dates back to the 1960’s, a new motivation arose in the 1990’s when empirical data showed that many animal species, under broad conditions (especially scarcity of food), do not use Brownian strategies when looking for food, but Lévy distributions instead. The main difference between them is that the Lévy distribution decay much slower with distance (with a power-law tail in the long-range limit), thereby not obeying the Central Limit Theorem, and present interesting properties, like fractality, superdiffusivityand self-affinity. These experiments, coupled with evolutionary concepts, lead to suspicions that this choice might have been adopted because it is more advantageous for the searcher, an idea now termed as the Lévy Flight Foraging Hypothesis. To study the problem, we define a search efficiency function and obtain its analytical expression for our model. We use computational methods to compare the efficiencies associated with the Lévy and two of the most cited pdfs in the literature, the stretched exponential and Gamma distributions, showing that Lévy is the best search strategy. Finally, we employ variational extremization methods to obtain the problem’s Euler equation.

Mapeamento de competências para profissionais celetistas de um laboratório de tecnologia público / Competency Mapping for CLT Professionals of a Public Technology Laboratory

Este estudo realiza o mapeamento de competências dos profissionais celetistas de um laboratório de tecnologia e o compara com o mapeamento pré-existente dos servidores públicos federais do mesmo laboratório. O estudo de caso único foi realizado no Laboratório de Integração e Testes (LIT) em São José dos Campos, SP. A pesquisa levanta informações, descreve e compara os dados, caracterizandose, portanto, como exploratória e descritiva. O levantamento das competências foi feito com a população composta por sessenta e oito profissionais celetistas, que se submeteram ao processo de entrevista semiestruturada. As informações foram classificadas, agrupadas e registradas por frequência de ocorrência, segundo os modelos teóricos propostos por Fleury e Fleury (2000) e Chang Junior e Santos (2009). Os principais resultados, classificados por frequência e categoria funcional, apontam as competências específicas e as técnicas como de maior incidência, seguidas pelas competências sociais e individuais e finalizando com as competências organizacionais de cada ocupação. A comparação do mapeamento demonstrou semelhanças e diferenças existentes entre as categorias dos profissionais celetistas e dos servidores públicos desse Laboratório, apresentou resultados dos critérios e métodos utilizados e com as características dos regimes e legislação que cada categoria deve seguir. De forma mais específica, as competências semelhantes são: Conhecimento Técnico da Área de Atuação, Atuação em Projetos, Gestão do Conhecimento, Inovação, Conectividade com os Clientes, Comprometimento, Flexibilidade. As competências consideradas diferentes são: Articulação Externa e Interna, Visão Sistêmica e Estratégica, Desenvolvimento de Pessoas e Liderança. De modo mais sintético, pode-se salientar que o resultado desta pesquisa foi positivo no sentido em que fornece ao Laboratório dados inexistentes com relação a essas duas categorias de profissionais. O mapeamento de competências para a gestão de pessoas do LIT torna-se uma ferramenta de domínio e de benefícios, identificando os perfis dos profissionais, apresentando uma visão global dos cargos e da mensuração das competências, maior benefício para o profissional, para os gestores e para a estratégia do Laboratório. A sua utilização pode contribuir também para maior produtividade e qualidade dos profissionais, se as propostas de melhoria para o desenvolvimento e crescimento dos profissionais forem implementadas pelas chefias. Se isso ocorrer, o profissional terá oportunidades de uma melhor gestão em seu setor, como também a garantia de capacitação técnica e humana constante, tendo em vista um acompanhamento na carreira. / This study has as its objective the competency mapping of professionals under the CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws a decree which governs labor relations in Brazil) and its comparison to the pre-existing competency mapping of federal public servants, all of them working in the same Technology Laboratory. The single case study took place in the Integration and Testing Laboratory (LIT) in São José dos Campos, S P. The research raises information, describes and compares data, being characterized, therefore, as exploratory and descriptive. The competency survey was done using a population of sixty-eight CLT employees who submitted themselves to a semi-structured interview process. The collected information was classified, grouped and registered by means of frequency of occurrence, according to the theoretical models proposed by Fleury and Fleury and Chang Junior and Santos. The main results, classified by means of frequency and functional category, point out the specific and technical competences as having the major incidence, followed by the social and individual competences, finalizing with the organizational skills of each occupation. The mapping comparison between the categories of CLT professionals and of public servants of this Laboratory presented results according to the criteria and methods used and to the characteristics of the regimes and legislation that each category must follow. More specifically, the similar competencies are: Expertise Area of Technical Knowledge, Performance in Projects, Knowledge Management, Innovation, Interface with Customers, Commitment, Flexibility. The competencies considered different are: External and Internal Articulation, Systemic and Strategic Vision, People Development and Leadership. In a more synthetic way, it can be noted that the result of this research was positive in the sense that provides to the Laboratory inexistent data with respect to these two categories of professionals. Syfte: Stål och betong har länge varit dominerande inom byggnation av den anledningen att flervåningshus med en stomme i trä mellan 1874 och 1994 i Sverige inte varit tillåtet. Detta har lett till att erfarenhet och kunskap inom flervåningshus i trä inte har utvecklats i samma takt. Med en ökad medvetenhet om miljön är nu fler intresserade av att bygga i trä då materialet anses vara bättre ur en miljösynpunkt. KL-trä har möjligheten att konkurrera med stål- och betongelement i bärighet och hållfasthet men står inför andra utmaningar när det kommer till brand- och ljudkrav. Målet med studien är att ta fram underlag för arbetsmoment, arbetstid och exempel på tvärsnittslösningar som använts för att upprätta mer korrekta kalkyler och tidplaner i anbudsskedet vid val av en KL-trästomme eller betongstomme i bostäder. Metod: Undersökningen genomförs som en kvalitativ fallstudie där analys sker av både kvantifierbara sekundärdata i form av enhetstider och tidigare tvärsnittslösningar, så väl som kvalitativ primärdata från semistrukturerade intervjuer. Genom triangulering av insamlade data tas tvärsnitt fram som utgör jämförelsen mellan KL-trä och prefabricerad betong med hänsyn till arbetsmoment och arbetstid.  Resultat: KL-trästommen kräver med hänsyn till brand- och ljudkrav fler arbetsmoment och en längre enhetstid än vad en prefabricerad betongstomme gör. Resultatet baseras på en kvadratmeter av tvärsnitten. Arbetsgången mellan de olika stommaterialen skiljer dessutom där betong efter sitt stommontage anses mer färdigt medan en KL-trästomme kräver fler påbyggda skikt. Konsekvenser: Studien grundas på en kvadratmeter i ett tvärsnitt i stället för en bredare bild av ett helt projekt. Vidare rekommenderas att kommande studier behandlar fler stomdelar, fuktsäkerhet och övergripande tidsåtgång för arbete med de olika stommaterialen. Begränsningar: Studien tar endast hänsyn till bjälklag och lägenhetsskiljande väggar i KL-trä respektive prefabricerad betong. Sekundärdata i form av tvärsnitt är endast insamlat från en av vardera källor rörande stommaterialen, nämligen organisationerna Svenskt Trä och Svensk Betong. Enhetstiderna är tagna ur Ny- och ombyggnadslistan 2018 men är kompletterade med respondenters ackordsunderlag. Intervjuerna är utförda med respondenter från byggbranschen som varit involverade i ett eller flera projekt med antingen KL-trästomme eller prefabricerad betongstomme. / Purpose: Steel and concrete has for a long time been dominating in construction because of the reason that multi-storey buildings of wood were forbidden between 1874 and 1994 in Sweden. This has led to that experience and knowledge about multi-storey buildings made of wood have not developed in the same rate. With an increase of awareness about the environment, more have now become interested of building with wood since it is deemed better for the environment. Cross-laminated timber (CLT) can compete with steel and concrete elements in terms of load-bearing capacity and strength of material but face other challenges when it comes to fire and sound regulations. The goal of this study is to bring forward information about work activities, working hours and example of used cross-section solutions to execute more correct calculations and time schedules for projecting with either CLT or concrete in housing.  Method: The study will be conducted as a qualitative fall study were analysis of both quantifiable secondary data in shape of unit times and earlier used cross-section solutions as well as qualitative primary data from semi-constructed interviews. Through triangulation of the collected data a cross-section will be selected that will compose the comparison between CLT and precast concrete regarding work activities and working hours. Findings: CLT frame requires more work activities and a longer working time than a prefabricated concrete frame with regards to fire and sound regulations. The result is based on a square meter of the cross-section. The work process differs between the different materials were a concrete frame, after it has been assembled is deemed more complete than a CLT frame which requires more layers for completion. Implications: The foundation of the study was formed on a square meter of a cross-section instead of a wider picture of a complete project. Further recommendations for upcoming studies are to include more frame parts, moisture safety and a general timescale of working with the different materials. Limitations: The study includes apartment differencing floors and walls of CLT and prefabricated concrete. Secondary data are only collected from one of each material, these are collected from the organizations Swedish Wood and Swedish Concrete. Unit times are taken from the New- and Reconstruction list 2018 (Ny- och ombyggnadslistan 2018) and these are complemented with response from the interviews. The interviews are conducted with respondents from the construction industry who has been involved in one or more projects with either a CLT frame or a precast concrete frame.
