En debatt om kollektivhus i det tidiga 1930-talet : Den gifta kvinnan möter moderniteten

Elmqvist, Ann-Marie January 2006 (has links)
The Qualities and Aesthetics of Undefined Spaces : in Housing

Frick, Jonas January 2013 (has links)
This project represents a continuous process, where the spaces of the home are being investigated and questioned. The ambition of the project is to analyse the image and the idea of the home, convinced that there is not an objective truth about how we are supposed to live within the home. The concept of the home is a social construction, where the nuclear family is the norm. The reality shows something different. How can we create spaces that are more flexible and generous in their use? The process is an investigation of how architectural objects can generate a housing-typology that is more free and open for the residents to interpret. A vast area divided by architectural components creates a continuous embroidery of specific spatial situations, zones and compositions. The aesthetics of everyday life arises against an abstract background.

Intergenerational Interdependence : Addressing Social Isolation Through Spatial Strategies within the Domestic Realm

Rudholm, Linnea January 2022 (has links)
According to the United Nations, by the year of 2050, 16% ofthe world’s population will be over the age of 65, that is one in six people.¹ Considering this, there is more need than ever to bridge the generation gap. Prior research on the theme of different kinds of domestic efficiency, led me to a comparative study between mass produced housing and collective living. I spoke in favour of the values of social sustainability at the price of economically superior construction methods. Departing then from the subject of social isolation and involuntary loneliness versus togetherness, I landed on the topic of elderly care and intergenerational interdependence. This paper proposes the need of intergenerational housing and therefore my method for approaching this theme is through designing a combined elderly care home, student housing and preschool. My findings suggest that the environment which surrounds us impacts us in a number of ways, as does the ambiance, the people, and the relationships we have with them. Therefore, I aim to create a space with a warm and familiar feel as opposed to an impersonal and institutional one and a place where relationships between different age groups can naturally blossom.

A shared household across generations : A reflection of a research project for a housing model to promote rural regeneration

Korpi, Linnea January 2022 (has links)
Settlement in the midlands of Norrland is linked to specific difficulties, partly rooted in a historical perspective of indigenous colonialism. Consequences include significant geographical value differences, which make new construction of housing unequal in Sweden. In addition, a demographic problem arises as older people stay in a larger living space than they need, as it becomes more expensive to move than to stay. The consequence is a stagnant generational change in the housing market, making it difficult for young adults to settle in rural areas. That relationship is generally more prevalent in rural areas in the midlands of Norrland, a phenomenon that I define as a part of The rural dilemma. Based on this problem, interest grew to investigate alternative and possible solutions, which at the same time favored settlement in the midlands of Norrland. However, some people defy these difficulties and, with collective solutions, create settlements based on alternative forms of social housing. Therefore the collective Skogsnäs was visited in Sollefteå municipality, which has since then served as a source of inspiration for the project: A shared household across generations. The ambition was to investigate a dwelling typology that combines important components that favor rural areas and which can contribute to upgrading values in these territories, promote social community, and take into account building economies using natural building materials. This can benefit local resource processing and entrepreneurship. The dwelling typology consists of interior wall modules, which contribute to the living space not becoming static but can grow and change together with the household constellation and needs. In addition to the advantage of shared housing costs, the concept offers an alternative form of social housing that enables possible generational housing, where the wall modules can be seen as an artifact whose function integrates with everyday life in time and space. The module becomes an important part of the design of common variability and surface flexibility based on needs over a generation.

Operação urbana: a inadequação do instrumento para a promoção de áreas em declínio / High-rise housing from the 1930s to the 1980s in the city of São Paulo. Research about modernist architects contribution to the teme. Case-studies

Vilariño, Maria do Carmo 26 February 2007 (has links)
This doctorate thesis analyses the urban operation tool, by examining its effects in four áreas under its jurisdiction in the city of Sao Paulo, where it can be observed different results in the promotion of public-private partnerships. This work searches to prove the thesis that this urban development control is inadequate to boost urban declining areas by investigating this different results and evaluating the possibilities and the limits of this mecanism in partnership promotion. The hipothesis is that this instrument, despite of this flexibility, derives from others which objective was to regulate a growing real state market demand in a previous period of great population growth and economic expansion. In an economic crisis and contraction situation, it reveals to be inadequate to reheat the real estate market in urban declining areas.

Bread and Roses: Stronger communities and healthier food systems from the inside out

Rutherford, Karolyna Theodora Louise 03 April 2017 (has links)
This practicum project examines the long-standing association between the domestic realm and gendered space as well as issues that have emerged in urban areas, such as poor access to healthy food options. Drawing on utopian concepts that have challenged conventional forms of residential development and the organization of domestic functions and spaces, it proposes the adaptive reuse of the Royal Albert Arms Hotel in Winnipeg. Concerned with the design of a model of housing that features a communal kitchen and dining facility, among other shared spaces, this project investigates the potential of such common rooms as a means to foster a sense of community within the building. In doing so, it explores how interior design can reimagine domestic space in a more proactive and socially conscious manner, improving the quality of life for inhabitants in the context of their homes, and more broadly, the city. / May 2017

Kolektivní bydlení v 2. polovině 20. století. K realizovaným kolektivním domům v Československu / Collective Housing after Second World War. To the Collective Houses Built in Czechoslovakia

Kužvartová, Lenka January 2012 (has links)
This thesis focuses systematically on the phenomenon of collective housing which emerged in the late 1920s in the USSR, western Europe and also in Czechoslovakia. It concentrates mainly on Czechoslovak architectonic scene with a specific variant of ideas about collective housing, adopted largely due to an influential Czech theoretist Karel Teige. In the first chapter, the architectonic millieu of 1920s and 1930s is introduced; in this period, theprogram of "scientific" functionalism which is crucial for the rise of the concept of collective house, was formulated,. The following chapters summarize collective housing efforts in the USSR and Sweden as an influential sources for Czechoslovak architects. The next sections are dedicated to two collective houses built in Czechslovakia after WWII: one in Zlín and another in Litvínov. The whole text is concluded by a brief summary of how the idea of collective houses developed further in 1960s and by an interpretation of the phenomenon through the work of Pierre Bourdieu and David Harvey.
