Att skriva sig till läsning- mer än bara ord : En kvalitativ studie på en mångkulturell skola, om läs- och skrivutveckling med datorer / Writing to read, more than words : a study of reading and writing with computers in a multicultural schoolFröberg, Maria January 2011 (has links)
The aim of the study is to see how teachers and students work in a multicultural school according to a method which teaches students to write before reading with the aid of computers. A further aim to investigate is how pupils with Swedish as a second language develop their linguistic skills using the method. To participate in modern society requires a lot from the individual. To function in a society that is constantly changing requires a good knowledge of the use of language in order to participate as a democratic citizen. It is therefore important that all students develop good linguistic knowledge regardless of their first language. The study is based on interviews with four teachers, operating in a multicultural school. Besides the interviews observations were made of the teachers and students in their daily work with computers. The results of the study showed that the method is language stimulating and develops the second language of the learners. Students received more knowledge than just reading and writing. The student was given an opportunity to develop in inter-cultural contexts, and gained a wider linguistic repertoire. The conclusion was that the teachers were unaware of the opportunities they gave students in their language development. The work contributed to interculturality as a comprehensive foundation for teaching. It was through participation, and meaning creation as starting points in their teaching, but teachers were unaware of their approach to teaching.

Tolkning vid förmedlade samtal via Bildtelefoni.net : interaktion och gemensamt meningsskapandeWarnicke, Camilla January 2017 (has links)
The Swedish Bildtelefoni.net is a service that people who use Swedish Sign Language (SSL) through a video phone can call in order to get in touch with people who speak through a telephone, or vice versa. In relayed calls via the Swedish video relay service (FBT), the interlocutors have different access to the visual arena and the auditive space. They are also physically separated from each other. An interpreter, working in a studio, enables the interaction across the different media, and the interpreter is the only person who has direct contact with both users of the service. FBT has been provided in Sweden since 1996, and is administrated by The Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS). The overall aim of the dissertation is to describe, analyse and discuss participants’ interaction and their joint construction of meaning within FBT. The theoretical and methodological frameworks for the dissertation are dialogism and Conversation Analysis (CA). The dissertation is based on twenty-five authentic calls from FBT, recorded during two periods of time: in the years 2009–2010, and in 2013. One stimulated recall is also made with one interpreter, concerning a call from the second collection. The project has been ethically approved by the Swedish Ethical Review Board. The interaction within FBT is dynamic and dependent on different media, modalities, resources, and also related to several conventions specific for the setting. All this influences the interlocutors, their actions as well as the entire activity. This kind of complexity has not previously been studied in the regular service. Analysis of the recordings focuses on the actions and activities of the participants who interact in the FBT, on a moment-to-moment basis. As results of the research, four phenomena are addressed, and presented as papers: I: the organisation of turns; II: the headset as an interactional resource; III: positioning and bimodal mediation with a focus on the interpreter; IV: the co-creation of communicative projects among the interlocutors. A main conclusion of the results is that the interaction is a joint construction of meaning among all of the interlocutors, although, the interpreter has a key function. Further research of interaction within FBT needs to be conducted, since investigations on this institutional interaction are rare despite the fact that this kind of service is widespread all over the world.

The so-called ânervous diseaseâ is a common medical condition found in Brazil. It is most commonly found among people living out of impoverished areas of Brazil, and is most common in woman. This studies aim is to analyze how the ânervous diseaseâ operates and how it is described by people who suffer from it, as well as analyze how it affects their everyday situations. The study was conducted by a health worker who held meetings in the homes of five different women patients, who had their symptoms reviewed, as well as their strategies for coping with the potential for emergencies that the disease can cause. Based on a social constructionism perspective with the approach of discursive practices, the experiences of the "nervous disease" in those conversations were analyzed, taking into account the interpretative repertoires of the participants and their roles in the interactions. The analysis of these conversations reveals that the ânervous diseaseâ is polysemous, multifaceted and contingent. The meanings of such a condition is dealt with creatively in interactive context that involves interviews between researcher and mediator. Spoken in different ways and in different contexts and for different purposes, the ânervous diseaseâ involves practices that make it much more than an object of biomedical knowledge.

This research aims to understand the process of creation of certain meanings from computer-mediated conversations through cyberevents' appropriations made by social actors with market interests. The potentialities of creation of meaning from cyberevents called #MeuAmigoSecreto and #LoveWins and their appropriations made by Universal Pictures do Brasil and Havaianas are observed and analyzed. First, the research identifies the creation of meaning applied by the organizations as an invite to establish conversations. Following, the meanings from those conversations are organized by categories, in order to analyze how they, in fact, are constituted and how they are related. The theoretical framework of this research begins with the importance acquired by social networking websites and the content spreading -the spreadable media nominated by Jenkins, Ford & Green (2014), through the digital social networks. In a semiotics perspective, the content spreading constitutes a potential process of creation of new meanings, besides relations and intersections among each other. The process is observed through the creation of meaning in social networks methodology, developed by Laboratório de Investigação do Ciberacontecimento. The creation of meaning is constituted by contests, mostly the contests of prevailing meaning, and meanings that support or refute the conversation object, in a context collapse environment. Nevertheless, the attempt there is to analyze those conversations beyond this reductionist perspective in front the complexity of events and Semiosis.

This study has a focus on the younger children in preschool, children between one and three years old and their creation of meaning. The aim of the study is to contribute with knowledge about children's creation of meaning in the sandbox in interaction with other children and with a focus on chemistry related content. The method used in this study was qualitative semistructured group interviews and contained an interview guide and notes. The interviewer sat down with the children in the sandbox and conducted interviews. There were two preschools that were visited and one child group at each preschool was interviewed. The result of this study shows that a chemical related content can be distinguished from children's meaningcreation in the sandbox. Conclusions of this study show that the children convey meaningmaking regarding aggregation state, heterogeneous mixture and sand as matter and its properties.

Elevhälsoarbete : En undersökning på tre skolor / Student health work : A study of three schoolsEverstrand, Åsa January 2015 (has links)
The aim of this study is to increase the knowledge about schools' student health care work based on the experiences of members in three student health teams. The core of this study is the members' stories about the student health care´s organization, intentional actions and the areas of development. The study includes three schools' student health care teams called X, Y and Z. The schools are from three different municipalities. The empirical research consists of qualitative data from observations, interviews and document analysis of three student health plans. The theory of community of practice and the communicative relational perspective are the theoretical foundations in the study. Both of them are founded on the socio-cultural theory in which interaction and communication are basis for learning. In the study, the results show both similarities and variations in the members' stories of the schools' student health care work. The results show that clear goals, distribution of roles and responsibilities, as well as interaction in the students' learning environment are some of the conditions or a successful student health care, which is in line with previously conducted research.
