Festival in a Box: Development and qualitative evaluation of an outreach programme to engage socially isolated people with dementiaEades, M., Lord, Kathryn, Cooper, C. January 2016 (has links)
No / We co-designed and piloted ‘Festival in a Box’, an outreach programme to enable socially
isolated people with dementia to engage with and enjoy cultural activities in their homes.
It comprised 3–4 weekly home visits, each led by a professional artist to create art works
using materials brought in ‘the box’. Activities included music, poetry, pottery, crafts and
photography. We qualitatively interviewed 13 participants (6 people with dementia, 4 artists,
3 befrienders). Six participants with dementia completed, enjoyed and engaged with the
planned visits. Main themes were: engagement, reflection on value of previous cultural
activities, precariousness and isolation in current neighbourhood and the importance of a voice
and being heard. Befrienders reported their preconceptions of what participants could do were
challenged. Artists reported shifts in their preconceptions about dementia and the influence
of the project on their professional practice. We propose that the ‘Festival in a Box’ pilot
study suggests a means through which community arts festivals could work with socially
isolated people with dementia to contribute to the creation of ‘Dementia Friendly
Communities’. A larger-scale pilot study is now needed to develop this hypothesis.

The design of information as a tool for disseminating cultural activities in LimaGómez Balletta, Arianna 29 September 2019 (has links)
The objective of this research is to evaluate the impact of information design, as a means of dissemination, in Lima's cultural agendas. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the level of communicative efficiency of the information and analyze the dissemination strategy it has. This means that the implementation of the principles of information design contributes to improve the access to the content and understanding of theatre as a cultural activity in Lima.
The purpose of this work is to examine, if Lima's cultural agendas, present efficient information about the theatre and have an information design that facilitates the reader's understanding. For this reason, a mixed research will be carried out, in which the Lima cultural agendas will be analyzed, experts will be interviewed and field research will be developed.
The results of the research establish that seven of the nine media analyzed do not correctly implement the principles of information design. This means that access to and understanding of the content isn't effective for the target reader.
Therefore, it can be concluded that by not applying the information design, the level of communicative efficiency of the cultural agendas as strategies of diffusion of the Lima theater, don´t provide necessary content to attend a theatrical presentation. Consequently, there is a low influx in the performing of cultural activities. / Trabajo de investigación

Kulturella aktiviteters betydelse för äldres känsla av sammanhang : En enkätundersökning på två äldreboenden i Mellansverige / The association between participation in cultural activities and sense of coherence among seniors living in a nursing home. : A survey study on two nursing homes in central Sweden.Alfredsson, Elin January 2016 (has links)
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether there was any association between participation in cultural activities and sense of coherence among seniors living in two nursing homes. Methods: A questionnaire based on Antonovskys SOC-13-questionaire was used, with added self-formulated questions including gender, age, level of physical function and participation in cultural activities. The questionnaire was distributed to 76 people 65 years and older without dementia at two nursing homes in central Sweden and 40 respondents answered the questionnaire. The material was processed and analyzed in the statistic computer program SPSS, where descriptive statistics were prepared and a chi-square analysis and logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: No statistically significant relationship between participation in cultural activities and sense of coherence could be seen. However, there was a correlation between the level of function and SOC scores. The lower level of function, i.e. the more help the respondent needed in everyday life, the lower sense of coherence. Conclusion: Functional level seems to have greater impact on an individual's sense of coherence than participation in cultural activities in the given study population.

The Thesis\' hypothesis is that research in cultural fields which embrace Action- Research methods and digital media resources can be structured as a cultural action or a set of cultural activities able to produce results concomitantly ot their implementation both for researchers and for the community or group of people who participate the research, establishing a continuous process of critical and reflexive feedback for both groups. / The government wants to put more emphasis on strengthening the ability to culture and social participation.
