The Antecedents of Trust in Mobile Commerce : A Quantitative Analysis on What Drives Mobile Trust, In The Brazilian Market.

As the adoption of mobile devices grows around the world, the use of this tool to access the internet and, consequently, interact with a mobile store is also growing. A mobile commerce that is trustworthy tends to have advantages if compared to its competitors and, therefore, better results. This study focuses on understanding and measuring the influence of trust antecedents applied to mobile commerce, in Brazil. The final antecedents found are Data Controls, Website Interactivity, Reputation and Willingness to Customize. The results indicate that Data Controls, followed by Reputation and Website Interactivity are the main influencers of Trust. If Reputation is not considered as part of the model, Website Interactivity becomes an important antecedent. The results provided in this thesis are relevant, since there is a lack of research related to trust in mobile commerce. It has deep practical applications by helping an online business to focus on actions that are essential to build trust through a device with such differentiated capabilities and dynamics of use.

Factors affecting consumers purchase intentions for digital news : A quantitative study of Resumé

Companies providing digital news are today struggling with low purchase intentions among their consumers. Over the years, the Internet has become a vital part of how people consume news, and the growth in online consumption has led to a decline in printed circulation. Newspapers all around the world are earning only the minor share of their total revenue from digital operations. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, trust, reputation, word-of-mouth, and willingness to customize on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news. This study aims to answer to the following research question:   What kind of effects do perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, trust, reputation, word-of-mouth, and willingness to customize have on consumers purchase intentions for digital news?   In order to answer our research question, we have conducted a quantitative survey that was directed towards the subscribers of Resumé, the leading Scandinavian business magazine in the area of marketing and advertising. Currently, Resumé is struggling with earning money from their digital content and their practical problem provided us with a great opportunity to contribute to the field of research about digital purchase intentions.   Purchase intentions are an indicator of a consumer´s approach towards a purchase and prior studies demonstrates that perceived ease-of-use and perceived usefulness, which constitute the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1989), are cornerstones in order to predict online consumer behavior. In our study, we also consider willingness-to-customize, which has been found to be an important decision-making factor regarding digital purchase intentions. People’s perceptions of the trust and reputation of a company are also proven to be relevant factors when predicting online consumer behavior, which in turn can be influenced by the word-of-mouth from other consumers, friends and family. Based on our literature review, we can conclude that there is a research gap related to the examination of the effects of these specific factors on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news.   The findings of our regression analyses, based on 234 responses we received through the survey, demonstrate that perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness, and word-of-mouth have positive significant effects on consumer´s purchase intentions for digital news. Based on these results, we have developed a revised conceptual model that includes the three factors that were proven to affect digital purchase intentions. Our study makes a theoretical contribution to the research field about digital purchase intentions and online consumer behavior. The study also provides managerial implications concerning how companies can enhance the digital purchase intentions among their consumers. We suggest the practical recommendations directed towards managers in the digital news business in general, and for the managers of Resumé in particularly.

Exploring the competitive advantage through ERP systems:from implementation to applications in agile networks

Abstract The purpose of this thesis is to contribute empirical evidence focusing on sustainable competitive advantage through ERP systems. It identifies the shift towards strategic positioning while moving in different ERP stages and industrial environments. The work starts from the premise that advanced ERP processes are simply commodities insinuating competitive convergence. The literature considers IT and strategy but few texts deal with understanding ERP resources over time in order to become source of sustainable advantage. As companies undergo transformation or strive to develop new approaches to competition, it is particularly significant to investigate this venture. The exploratory inquiry in this dissertation aims to develop insights by a combination of qualitative and quantitative research traditions. The dual approach seeks to integrate the best research practices for contribution to the pertinent stakeholders. The first section is the introductory part followed by publications including case studies and surveys conducted on the basis of the gaps identified between theory and practice. The work is limited in scope and the intention is to appreciate knowledge acquired from the studies instead of drawing rigid extensive conclusions. However, the study traces that the ERP systems do provide competitive advantage, the sustainability depending on integrating to meet the business needs and building uniqueness. The implication is to capitalize on the potential of ERP, the idea being not to imitate competitors but to tailor applications to the company's overall strategy.

Supporting Computer-Mediated Collaboration through User Customized Agents

This research investigated a neglected problem - interruption of groups by agent advisory systems. The question was whether interruption by the agent advisory system was beneficial. A survey of literature in four areas is included in this dissertation. The areas surveyed were Agents, Online Help, Computer Supported Cooperative Work(CSCW) and Awareness in CSCW. Based on the review, a human subject experiment was conducted. The study investigated whether the style of agent advisory interface improved the performance of group members. There were three sets of groups, a control set that did not have advisory agents, a set that had system provided advisory agents and a set that had group customized advisory agents. The groups worked together using a CSCW application developed with GroupKit, a CSCW toolkit. The groups with group customized advisory agents used an Agent Manager application to define advisory agents that would give them advice as they worked in the CSCW application. The findings showed that the type of advisory agents did not significantly influence the performance of the groups. The groups with customized agents performed slightly better than the other groups but the difference was not statistically significant. When notified that advice was issued, groups with customized agents and groups with provided agents seldom accessed the agent's advice. General design guidelines for agent interruption have not been solved. Future work is needed to finish the job. The definitive solution may be some mixture of the three known individual design solutions.

Elevers delaktighet i grundskolans engelskämne / Students' participation in English in primary school

The aim of this study is to investigate teachers' ways of working with participation in English inprimary school and to contribute knowledge about which strategies teachers use to encouragestudents to participate. In order to explore the participants’ descriptions, a qualitative approachis used on semi-structured interviews with eight English teachers who teach in different primaryschools. National and international research was used in the background section in order toprovide a context to the present study. The results have been analysed with the help of atheoretical framework combining a sociocultural perspective, a differentiation perspective, andlanguage learning theories. From language learning theories, I use the following three concepts:“Condition-Oriented Ideas”, “Condition-Oriented Ideas” and “Top- Down Language-FocusedReasons”.The results of this study show that relations between teachers and students, students’motivation, materials that are customized to each student, and to have democratic in Englishlessons are very important to make students participate in the English lesson and communicatein English. There are some strategies to help teachers build a good relationship with students, toencourage them, and to make materials that are customized to each student. The results showthat teachers have to listen to students very carefully, and have to spend time with them to showthem that they care about them. Furthermore, teachers have to make activities that increasestudents’ motivation, and teachers have to know the level of each student because that makesteachers able to customize materials adapted to each student’s knowledge level. Each student isspecial in knowledge, experiences, and feelings.The conclusion of this study is that teachers have to find strategies to build good relationswith students. Teachers also have to find strategies to encourage students and to customizeteaching materials for the English lessons. The benefits of student participation are several,including a positive atmosphere in the English classes. In addition, the students achieve betterresults in English language

How can you create new letterforms using sound as input? In Sound meets Type, have I studied the form generating qualities of sound as input for a new typography. Through history the technological development has provoked new approaches to type design, which in turn has evolved letterforms. By using generative systems to search for letterforms in a contemporary and technological context, I have created a customized software that uses the data inherent in sound as a form generator for possible new letterforms. The software is developed by using a language called Javascript.  The thesis consist of a written part and a creative part. The creative part is documented within this thesis.

Anpassningar i lärmiljön för elever med NPF : Pedagogers uppfattning om hur, i relation till upplevt stöd och den egna kunskapen / Adaptations in the learning environment for students with NPF : Educators' perception of how, in relation to experienced support and their own knowledge

Skolan har i uppdrag att verka för att alla elever når de fastställda kunskapskraven. När elever inte når upp till dessa kunskapskrav ska åtgärder vidtas. Har eleven en funktionsnedsättning ska de förmågor som är nedsatta kompenseras. Därför har skolan att göra extra anpassningar och om det inte är tillräckligt ska ett beslut om särskilt stöd fattas. Denna studie undersöker vilken uppfattning som pedagoger har om den egna kunskapen och upplevelsen av stöd i det komplexa arbetet med att genomföra extra anpassningar utifrån elever som har en NPF-diagnos. Undersökningen genomförs som en webbaserad enkät som sprids till skolor i norra uppland. Resultatet visar att upplevelsen av stöd är förhållandevis stort från den egna interna organisationen men det finns behov av ett större stöd. Samtidigt finns det en önskan att hämta stöd från externt håll som BUP och HAB. Ofta genomförs extra anpassningar dagligen och uppfattningen om den egna kunskapen är god. Samtidigt finns önskemål om att få delta i utbildning eller föreläsning i syfte att lära sig mer om extra anpassning för elever. Sambandsanalysen visar dock inte på ett signifikant samband.
