Made available in DSpace on 2015-04-16T15:23:35Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 arquivototal.pdf: 3617160 bytes, checksum: c660f429ed2d8d26d91b1ecfa9daad2c (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-08-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES / Once the noteworthy role of public libraries as institutions in the development process is recognized, the current piece of research had as general objective the analysis of free tools for the development of digital libraries describing thus their use. The research development was divided into four phases. The first one, named preparation, intended to identify the elements used by digital libraries which are accessible by means of web, following a set of criteria, characterized by the sample that was composed of eighteen libraries in the Portuguese language. In this phase, a quantitative/qualitative methodological approach was used. Data collection was carried out through techniques such as content analysis, documental analysis and questionnaire use so as to validate the mentioned analysis. In relation to the second phase, named planning, the choice of the technological elements available for the implementation of a digital library was fulfilled. For data collection, the documental analysis was used. The third one, the development, was composed of activities concerning a prototype development of a public digital library as well as the description of its construction procedures. Finally, in the fourth phase, the control, the use and the users´ impression of the developed library were measured and analyzed. For data collection, the webometric analysis and the on-line questionnaire answered by the users were employed. As the research was developed, it was verified that there is no standard model for digital libraries that are in their operational process, different from the traditional ones, being highlighted that there is disparity in the observed characteristics. In regard to archive policy, the research realized that the digital libraries do not have it or they are not documented. The lack of the professional librarian, in these information units, was also emphasized. With reference to the tools, the available diversity in the web allows any traditional library, with the suitable skilled human resources, to be part of the technological world without great difficulties. The metrics employed to measure the prototype use perceived numbers that allow identifying the users´ access and satisfaction. As final result, this research indicates alternatives for the librarians and managers of information units demonstrating thus procedures that enable free access to quality and democratic information, without burdening the institution´s budget.

Approches non supervisées pour la recommandation de lectures et la mise en relation automatique de contenus au sein d'une bibliothèque numérique / Unsupervised approaches to recommending reads and automatically linking content within a digital library

Benkoussas, Chahinez 14 December 2016 (has links)
This thesis deals with the field of information retrieval and the recommendation of reading. It has for objects:— The creation of new approach of document retrieval and recommendation using techniques of combination of results, aggregation of social data and reformulation of queries;— The creation of an approach of recommendation using methods of information retrieval and graph theories. Two collections of documents were used. First one is a collection which is provided by CLEF (Social Book Search - SBS) and the second from the platforms of electronic sources in Humanities and Social Sciences OpenEdition.org (Revues.org). The modelling of the documents of every collection is based on two types of relations:— For the first collection (SBS), documents are connected with similarity calculated by Amazon which is based on several factors (purchases of the users, the comments, the votes, products bought together, etc.);— For the second collection (OpenEdition), documents are connected with relations of citations, extracted from bibliographical references. We show that the proposed approaches bring in most of the cases gain in the performances of research and recommendation. The manuscript is structured in two parts. The first part "state of the art" includes a general introduction, a state of the art of informationretrieval and recommender systems. The second part "contributions" includes a chapter on the detection of reviews of books in Revues.org; a chapter on the methods of IR used on complex queries written in natural language and last chapter which handles the proposed approach of recommendation which is based on graph.

Automatizace digitalizačního workflow NTK / Automatization of the digitization workflow of the National Library of Technology

Řihák, Jakub January 2013 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on the automatization of digitization workflow in the National Library of Technology, Prague, Czech Republic. This thesis examines possibilities of digitization processes automatization by means of scripts written in Perl programming language and Apache Ant build tool. The advantages and disadvantages of both solutions are analyzed as well as their suitability for automatization of digitization workflow. Based on the comparison of both solutions, the scripts in Perl programming language are selected as the most suitable solution for automatization of digitization workflow. The question whether Ant build tool could be used for the purpose of automatization of digitization workflow is also answered in this thesis. The Ant build tool could be used for the above-mentioned purpose. However, once the activities in the given process divert from the general scope of tasks provided by the Ant build tool, the complexity of the whole solution increases rapidly. This complexity is given by the necessity to use predefined tasks -- sets of functions which have to be combined to create a functional automatization script. Even though Ant is an extendable tool, it is necessary to understand the Java programming language in order to create a new Ant task successfully. On the other hand, the Perl programming language allows easier customization of the script for the purposes of automatization of digitization workflow. Also, the modularity of the Perl programming language makes it easier to create those scripts and modify, correct or develop them even further.

Mönnich, Michael, Köberle, Boris 28 January 2011 (has links)

Münzmay, Andreas 03 December 2019 (has links)
Digitization produces ‚hybrid‘ objects that are readable as digital data files but at the same time still ‚contain‘ the original cultural-historical object. In this perspective, ‚digital collections‘, ‚digital libraries‘, etc. are in fact hybrid collections, or libraries. For musical artefacts, the range of historical media is especially complex, which again concerns the digital world. Digital Humanities publications also contribute to the complex and confusing situation as they themselves are not only ‚information‘, but as a rule, complex and hybrid textual systems that often contain complete digitized re-publications of cultural objects, providing them with digital ‚inscriptions‘, and interlinking them. So the hybridity of ‚digital libraries‘ increases as soon as Digital Humanities publications are integrated. Therefore, metadata should mirror precisely the hybrid nature of the digitized/digital objects catalogued.

Strategie Evropské unie v oblasti informační politiky se zaměřením na knihovnictví / Strategy of the European Union in the area of information policy focused on libraianship

Eisnerová, Alexandra January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate policie, programs and projects of the European Union's information policy. It is focused on the librarianship with a reflection of Czech projects in this area. In the introduction, the so-called Bangemann report is mentioned, which is considered as a milestone in the development of information society. This report laid the foundation for other strategic documents, which were the eEurope, including following action plans. There are other two important documents mentioned in the following chapters, i.e. i2010 - European information society for growth and employment, and EUROPE 2020 - A strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The core of the work is formed by a description of programs, funding European projects in the area of librarianship and projects, which originated from those programs. Given the trend of the 21st century is the digitization, projects in this area are described in this thesis. This is especially the European Digital Library, Europeana, and many other partial projects. The penultimate chapter is devoted to current projects in the field of digitization in the Czech Republic. Kramerius, Manuscriptorium, National Digital Library, National Digital Archives and other projects are mentioned here. The conclusion consists of a...

Project Publizebra.se : Development of a user-centered special digital library service for self-publishing authors in Sweden

Koort, Hannes January 2019 (has links)
The goal of this thesis is the development of Publizebra.se, a user-centered special digital library prototype for self-publishing authors. The service is aimed to provide valuable information, features and resources in the production, marketing and distribution of books.    Digital libraries have in recent years started to play a role in providing self-published authors with the tools, information and services required to publish independently with standardized quality. The focus has been to promote self-publishing and avoiding the pitfalls of appalling cover art, poor editorial work or zero marketing. In Sweden no such digital library initiative exists, combined with the problem of relatively few self-publishing services providing the possibility of independent publishing, without stepping into any of the pitfalls above.   The development of Publizebra.se seeks to fill the gap of digital library initiatives for self-publishing in Sweden, aggregating and distributing the value-adding features and user needs of independent authors. The applied research follows a five-step design process associated with the methodology of user-centered design, consisting of strategy, discovery, information architecture, design and prototyping. Every step of the process encompassed methodologies for taking the development forward, while further relying on fundamental research of the environment and user needs. Heuristic evaluation and expert evaluation were conducted on the prototype by LIS and usability experts to assess its functionality and user-centered design. The feedback concluded the prototype to be accessible and easy to use, while indicating the need for additional development and improvements to visual and interaction design features prior to further testing.
