Fabricated Histories (or My American Daydreams)

Baumann, Judith Marie 01 January 2005 (has links)
The three print series I completed within the past two years appear hardly related at first. However, these individual bodies of work, when examined chronologically, are continually informed by similar ideas. The most obvious of these is the act of piecing elements together to form something that had previously not existed, yet still influences the original source. In all three series, images are taken from an original source and re-contextualized. The idea of cultural or anthropological landscapes is also a theme throughout my work. Each individual series toyed with the idea of an imaginary or theoretical anthropological landscape in direct comparison to its pre-existing model. These humorous and oftentimes puzzling images are influenced by my over-active imagination, fueled by equal parts pop culture, playful cynicism, and desperate idealism.

A estamparia têxtil contemporânea: produção, produtos e subjetividades / The contemporary textile printing: production, products and subjectivities.

Vieira, Liliana Bellio 24 June 2014 (has links)
The contemporaneity has been marked by changes in various aspects, in particular for design. The latest decades inaugurated digital technologies in which the capabilities for capturing, processing and reproducing images changes modes of development, production and aesthetics perception. This study refers to the surface design, specialty of design, specifically the digital textile printing. It aims to investigate the digital resources intended for the textile printing as producers of visual elements that causes sense and meaning to the partnership: creative production, product (subjective aspects of print) and differentiation. This is a qualitative research of exploratory character approach, by means of bibliographical references, observation of selected digital prints in the city of São Paulo and interviews of the active surface designers. This study also proposes a reflection on some differential and subjective aspects that prints allows in fashion and decoration products. Identifying and discussing possibilities, potentials and limitations of digital printing in the areas mentioned, it suggests contributions to surface design in the creation of engineered prints from the differentiation demand, making the piece printed as art and communication support.

Effects of Coating Formulations on Thermal Properties of Coating Layers

Liang, Chong 15 February 2010 (has links)
The effects of coating formulation on thermal characteristics of coating layers were systematically studied for xerographic toner fusion on coated papers. Model coatings were formulated using three types of ground calcium carbonate and one kaolin pigments, each mixed with 6, 10, 18, and 25 pph of styrene butadiene latex binder. Porosity was found to be a key parameter for coating thermal conductivity adjustment, and was determined by the latex concentration. The particle size distribution and morphology of pigments also affect the overall thermal characteristics of coating layers. Print qualities on model coated papers were evaluated by print gloss measurement, toner adhesion test, and pair-wise visual ranking, and it was proved that print gloss is reduced with increasing bulk thermal conductivity of coating layers. The coating layer consisted of Covercarb HP pigment and 10 pph of latex was found to have the best performance in the three print quality evaluation tests.

Whereabouts : en tillflyktsort / Whereabouts : a hideaway

Sandqvist, Karin January 2013 (has links)
With a room divider, in the form of a textile ceiling and floor, a place of serenity is created in the public room. Inspired by the spatiality created underneath the tree crown and of the light that seeps through the leaves, “Whereabouts” forms a more natural atmosphere in an otherwise artificial context. The work revolves around the use of textiles in interiors and how I can create spatiality, or rather the illusion of it, not using any walls. Instead, I examine whether the use of a ceiling and floor can create a different atmosphere and a sense of space. / Program: Textildesignutbildningen

Molina Guixot, Claudia 02 May 2023 (has links)
[EN] The thesis presented under the title Methodologies of transfer using inkjet printing systems: Processes for digital graphic creation, aims to show from a conceptual and technical-practical perspective the evolution in the development of processes from electronic recording and reproduction systems until digital recording, production and representation technologies, through hybrid processes, expanding the field for the creation of digital graphics. especially with inkjet printers. The contextual situation of graphics is analyzed through a historical journey that starts from the beginning of the 20th century to understand the changes and proposals that have occurred in the conception of graphics as a self-sufficient means for the creation of unique works of art. In addition to the perception of images through technology and how it has affected the reflection of new approaches in the artistic medium. These means that we try to conceptualize the movement and perception that the digital world provokes on images through transfer, not only as a concept that helps us understand how the transmission of codes influences, but also as an artistic practice to extract and materialize intangible images of the digital flow and endow them with a haptic state, turning them into physical objects. In order to give corporeality to the images, the research proposes a series of transfer processes carried out using inkjet printing systems where factors such as temporary support, informative support and definitive support come into play, which is detached from graphic traditionality, using different materials that provide added value to the piece. / Molina Guixot, C.
