Freire, João Batista 10 July 2016 (has links)
Through the philosophical movements in Ionia and through researches made on phýsis (started by the first wise men in Miletus), we elected Anaximander‟s cosmology as a fertile ground for exploring the Greek notion of symmetry. From a geographical perspective, initially, the Greeks‟ originality towards the notion of a due measure will be questioned, since the astrological and mathematical knowledge were common in Babylon and Egypt. Although the cultural environment on the Milesian commercial ports and its architecture show evidences of a possible eastern impact on the Greek thought, it will be noted (from fragments validated by the Doxography tradition) that the problem with the birthplace of the notion of harmony and of due measure is something specific of the Greek culture and inherent to its remote religiosity. The resumption of these notions refers to the issue of arché and to its divinity assumed by Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes. The divine was not an extrinsic notion to the Milesian thought towards the first element. Therefore, we will have as a result of this investigation some assumptions for which the notion of symmetry in Anaximander, stated in his ápeiron, could be, from the dialogue between philosophy and Orphism, an assimilation of the One, as witnessed in the Derveni papyrus.

Salvador

Srovnání cest Gilgameše a Abraháma / The Journeys of Gilgamesh and Abraham: A Comparison

Nash, Alexander January 2018 (has links)
Few can claim to have never heard of Abraham or Gilgamesh. In terms of renown, the two are so rooted in our cultural awareness that it is highly unlikely that they will ever be truly forgotten. But whilst there have been many publication analyzing one or the other, few have ever attempted a side by side comparison of the duo. Therefore we shall not focus on introducing both characters, but try to see where their key differences lie. Since a complete comparison of every individual motive would be too broad for the purpose of this work, we are going to focus on three particular concepts: the hero's journey, immortality and relations to the divine. The first of these is also a brief introduction of the concept itself, since along with its author Joseph Campbell, it is a rather obscure topic on czech academic grounds. The second and third concepts are closer to an analysis of the cultural and religious settings and norms relevant for the authors of both texts.

Metaphysics in the Reformation : a case study of Peter Martyr Vermigli (1499-1562)

Aspray, Silvianne January 2018 (has links)
This dissertation traces the metaphysical underpinnings of the Protestant Reformation through a close reading of the work of the Protestant reformer Peter Martyr Vermigli (1499-1562). It is premised on the assumption that all theological reasoning is metaphysical insofar as it simultaneously depends on and conveys a vision of how God and the world relate. This opens the possibility to analyse the implied metaphysics of theological work. The study focuses on four areas of Peter Martyr Vermigli’s work: divine and human agency, grace and justification, the Eucharist, and political theology. It analyses Vermigli’s thought by enquiring what structures of being and causality it displays in each of these areas. The key research question is whether Vermigli’s theology implicitly construes ‘being’ as a neutral category, univocally applying to God’s being as well as created being, or whether it conceives of Divine being as transcendent and pre-eminent, with all other being participating in it. Divine and human causation is moreover construed differently in other of these ontological alternatives. The main argument of this dissertation is that the metaphysical framework sustaining Peter Martyr Vermigli’s thought is complex. When examined in terms of its structures of being and causality, Vermigli’s theology simultaneously inhabits two different metaphysical frameworks, one based on ontological participation and the other on the univocity of being. If Vermigli is representative of the Reformation more broadly – an argument which is made based on recent developments in Calvin and Luther scholarship – then this finding is significant for the hermeneutics of the Protestant reformation in two ways. First, it nuances the Reformation’s role in the genesis of modernity, vis-à-vis certain commentators’ suggestion of a causal link between Reformation thought and modernity, while predicating the latter on a univocal ontology. Secondly, the history and development of Protestantism may be better understood by considering possible long-term effects of the metaphysical complexity at the heart of Reformation thought.

Following the trajectory of one of the greatest Umbanda´s authors, this dissertation analyzes the emergence of a new chain of umbanda. Created by Rubens Saraceni in the late 90´s, the so called Divine Magic inserts in Umbanda´s terreiros the use of mandalas, giving to the old Umbanda´s symbols a new look, linked to the esoteric and modern urban movements. Reaching new audiences, the expansion of this new "energetic" Umbanda ", merges in terreiros the classroom and the altar. The integration of courses and practices of Divine Magic on the terreiros features various implications, such as the formation of a network of interconnected terreiros and the emergence of groups and representatives in order to strengthen and unify within the Umbanda. This effort of indoctrination and standardization of practices next to the insertion of a new conflict resolution´s key seems to offer us clues about the contemporary Umbanda movement itself, part of the religious Market is greater than the Umbanda itself.

Teorie a praxe pastorace seniorů / The theory and an experience pastoral care of seniors

VLNATÁ, Markéta January 2009 (has links)
This diploma work deals with the pastoral care of seniors in Czech Republic. It is divided into two parts {--} theoretical and practical one. I try to explain the conception of pastoral care in the first part of this work by using different opinions of several authors and then I also describe various stories of seniors´ life. In the end of this part there is also a refer to the usefulness of older generation and clues on how to keep ourselves in repair even in advanced years. I proof or refutate two hypotheses in practice in the second part {--} the first one is about bigger extention of pastoral care in houses established by the church and the second one about bigger seniors´ interest in pastoral care in houses established by the church.

Silva, Rosane Guedes da 21 October 2011 (has links)
The debates about the increasing of Pentecostal religious scene in Brazil have been constant among the social sciences. For them, this is considered as an indicator for its development, the spread of prosperity theology, based on the methodical construction of a single religious path that leads the individual to reach their personal achievements. Inside this religious model stands nowadays, the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD). A research object in many areas of the human sciences, this institution presents itself today surrounded by numerous academic criticisms in particular in what regards its methods of raising finances, being interpreted in some studies as a large company of salvation. These considerations are developed from the emphasis on religious contributions to the Igreja Universal, translated here in the form of donations, which are seen as pillars in the religious experience of the individual, defining someone as a promising successful person. Thus, setting from the current socioanthropological studies on religion and contemporary society, and entering with this paper through the debate between religion and modernity. Trying to approach the connexion between the religion and the social experiences of people involved, and studying the symbolic meaning of religious donation to the participants directly involved in the donation process. Situating the relevancy of gift and counter gift through the process of content assimilation about the meaning of self-giving and sacrifice to achieve the desired and discussing these actions on the daily lives of these characters. So, this paper seeks to consider how the practice of ritual sacrifice of religious donations interferes in the construction of the social behavior of neo-Pentecostal iurdianos.
