[en] DIMENSIONLESS ENSEMBLE SMOOTHER WITH MULTIPLE DATA ASSIMILATION APPLIED ON AN INVERSE PROBLEM OF A MULTILAYER RESERVOIR WITH A DAMAGED ZONE / [pt] ENSEMBLE SMOOTER ADIMENSIONAL COM MÚLTIPLA ASSIMILAÇÃO APLICADO A UM PROBLEMA INVERSO DE RESERVATÓRIO MULTICAMADAS COM ZONA DE SKIN

ADAILTON JOSE DO NASCIMENTO SOUSA 05 December 2022 (has links)
[en] The ES-MDA has been extensively used concerning inverse problems of oil reservoirs, using Bayesian statistics as the core. Important properties such as permeability, skin zone radius, and skin zone permeability are estimated from historical reservoir data using this set-based method. In this thesis, the pressure measured at the well during an injectivity test was calculated using an analytical approach of a multilayer reservoir, with skin zone, using the Laplace Transform. Stehfest s algorithm was used to invert the data to the real field. Furthermore, using this approach, we were able to easily obtain the flow rate in each layer as new data to be considered in the ES-MDA, enriching the estimation of the targeted data. As we use flow rate and pressure as input data in the ES-MDA, it is important to assure that the difference in orders of magnitude does not influence our estimates. For this reason, we chose to use the ES-MDA in the dimensionless form. Aiming at a greater precision of our estimates, we used an algorithm to optimize the ES-MDA inflation factors.

Evolving Ensemble-Clustering to a Feedback-Driven Process

Lehner, Wolfgang, Habich, Dirk, Hahmann, Martin 01 November 2022 (has links)
Data clustering is a highly used knowledge extraction technique and is applied in more and more application domains. Over the last years, a lot of algorithms have been proposed that are often complicated and/or tailored to specific scenarios. As a result, clustering has become a hardly accessible domain for non-expert users, who face major difficulties like algorithm selection and parameterization. To overcome this issue, we develop a novel feedback-driven clustering process using a new perspective of clustering. By substituting parameterization with user-friendly feedback and providing support for result interpretation, clustering becomes accessible and allows the step-by-step construction of a satisfying result through iterative refinement.

Hsia, Sammy January 2023 (has links)
The goal of this project is to incorporate electronic music concepts into ensemble playing and composition. To achieve this, I composed music designed for improvisation using techniques such as looping, sound mimicking, and sound designing. To better understand the language of electronic dance music, I analyzed the behavior of instruments like drum machines and synthesizers, and then implemented those findings into ways of making an ensemble sound like electronic music. The aim is to explore new ways of improvising music and to develop skills as a musician, composer, and band leader.   This music was presented in a concert at Kungliga Musikhögskolan in Stockholm on March 6th. / <p>Kompositör och arrangör: Sammy Hsia</p><p>Repertoar: Intro, Tjuven, Dotted 8, Gilmore, Ballad 7</p><p>Medverkande musiker:</p><p>Anna Wohlfarth - Fender Rhodes</p><p>Joel Henryson - Elbas, synthesizer</p><p>Magnus Jonasson - Slagverk, synthesizers</p><p>Sammy Hsia - Trumset</p><p>Bifogat inspelning från konserten. Stock market analysis with a Markovian approach: Properties and prediction of OMXS30 / Börsanalys utifrån markovteori: Egenskaper och prediktion av OMXS30

Aronsson, Max, Folkesson, Anna January 2023 (has links)
This paper investigates how Markov chain modelling can be applied to the Swedish stock index OMXS30. The investigation is two-fold. Firstly, a Markov chain is based on index data from recent years, where properties such as transition matrix, stationary distribution and hitting time are studied. This first investigation shows, for example, signs of volatility clustering and a steady-state distribution that indicates a positive long term trend for OMXS30. Secondly, the predictive ability of a Markov model, consisting of a voting ensemble of ten Markov chains, is evaluated. The results show that a Markov model with six states has a prediction accuracy slightly above the performance of random chance. Moreover, there was no considerable difference in prediction accuracy between models with Markov chains of first and second order.

Transformer-based Source Code Description Generation : An ensemble learning-based approach / Transformatorbaserad Generering av Källkodsbeskrivning : En ensemblemodell tillvägagångssätt

Antonios, Mantzaris January 2022 (has links)
Code comprehension can be significantly benefited from high-level source code summaries. For the majority of the developers, understanding another developer’s code or code that was written in the past by them, is a timeconsuming and frustrating task. This is necessary though in software maintenance or in cases where several people are working on the same project. A fast, reliable and informative source code description generator can automate this procedure, which is often avoided by developers. The rise of Transformers has turned the attention to them leading to the development of various Transformer-based models that tackle the task of source code summarization from different perspectives. Most of these models though are treating each other in a competitive manner when their complementarity could be proven beneficial. To this end, an ensemble learning-based approach is followed to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of the collaboration of more than one powerful Transformer-based models. The used base models are PLBart and GraphCodeBERT, two models with different focuses, and the ensemble technique is stacking. The results show that such a model can improve the performance and informativeness of individual models. However, it requires changes in the configuration of the respective models, that might harm them, and also further fine-tuning at the aggregation phase to find the most suitable base models’ weights and next-token probabilities combination, for the at the time ensemble. The results also revealed the need for human evaluation since metrics like BiLingual Evaluation Understudy (BLEU) are not always representative of the quality of the produced summary. Even if the outcome is promising, further work should follow, driven by this approach and based on the limitations that are not resolved in this work, for the development of a potential State Of The Art (SOTA) model.

Improvisation through Dalcroze-inspired activities in beginner student jazz ensembles : a hermeneutic phenomenology / Dewald Hattingh Davel

Davel, Dewald Hattingh January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation investigated the meanings students from beginner jazz ensembles ascribe to learning jazz improvisation through Dalcroze-inspired activities. Over the course of ten weeks, students from three respective beginner jazz ensembles were exposed to Dalcroze-inspired activities as the medium for learning to improvise. The sessions were held on a weekly basis, facilitated by the researcher. Hermeneutic phenomenology guided the research procedures. In-depth interviews, personal reflections, participant reflection essays as well as video recordings were the methods of data collection. Through the use of Atlas.ti 7, the data were organized and analysed by means of coding and categorisation, which led to the identification of five themes. The five themes that emerged from the data analysis were: feeling the music in my body, supporting development as a jazz musician, building character, building relationships, and stimulating and motivating learning. This study provides an understanding of the connection between jazz improvisation and Dalcroze Eurhythmics as well as how students experience learning jazz improvisation through Dalcrozeinspired activities. Through this understanding this study proposes a more holistic approach to jazz improvisation teaching that can inform further research and application of Dalcroze Eurhythmics in jazz pedagogy. / MMus (Musicology), North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2015
