A NOVA POLÍTICA DE EDUCAÇÃO ESPECIAL E SUAS DECORRÊNCIAS PARA O ATENDIMENTO DE ALUNOS COM TRANSTORNOS DE APRENDIZAGEM. / THE NEW POLICY FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION AND ITS CONSEQUENCES FOR THE ASSISTANCE OF STUDENTS WITH LEARNING DISORDERS.Tambara, Katiusce Giacomelli 08 March 2013 (has links)
This work is inserted into the line of research in Special Education of the Master‟s Degree in Education of the Graduate Program in the Federal University of Santa Maria. It was based on experiences in public schools, where students with learning disorders are present in a significant number and, considering the delimitation of students referred to Special Education by the National Policy of Special Education in the Perspective of Inclusive Education in 2008, are no longer part of the pedagogic assistance by Special Education teachers. The focus of this study was to analyze how the assistance of students with learning disabilities is happening, from the perspective of teachers. The research was characterized as qualitative and descriptive and used semi-structured interviews with eight Special Education teachers of municipal schools of Santa Maria and an enclosed questionnaire with the manager responsible for the area within the Municipal Education in Santa Maria, as instruments to collect data. For interpretation and assessment of the data, the technique of content analysis of Bardin (2008) was used. As a result, the research has shown that students with learning disabilities remain in regular classrooms at school. Some are assisted in the school environment by the Special Education teacher, but most are referred to care services outside the school, exempting the school from the responsibility of students not being able to learn. It also showed that Special Education is not being seen by teachers as an epistemological field of knowledge but as a service, a support, a modality. And finally, it‟s highlighted the importance of continuity in discussions of Special Education and Inclusive Education, especially when considering the design of synonymy in which both have been addressed, which should not occur in both the teachers' speech and theoretical references and, therefore, being imperative to deepen and clarify the differences pertaining to each area of knowledge and pedagogical action.

Previous issue date: 2011-12-12 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The present work consists of an insertion proposal of current issues as Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in high school through the Modern and Contemporary Physics. In order to meet this purpose didactic modules were developed and applied that adapt to the school curricula and guidelines suggested by the National Curriculum Guidelines and also, at the same time, discuss topics of optical properties of materials. Thus, the material contributed to the presentation of valid and clear treatments about the interaction of radiation with the matter (subject), studying quantum aspects that relate to physical and chemical properties of nanomaterials. The didactic modules were implemented for a target public of seventy-three (73) senior High School students of the Military School in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. The material has its structure organized in the form of an electronic site, containing five virtual modules which include, mainly, dissertative-argumentative texts and media resources. The development of the didactic modules is anchored in learning meaningful of Ausubel, in which, the information must interact and anchor on the relevant concepts already existing in the cognitive structure of the student. For this purpose the construction of the material, as well as its application, had as basic structure of a initial problematization, organization of knowledge and application of knowledge, proposed by Delizoicov and Angotti. The evaluation of new acquired concepts in relation to the interaction of radiation with the matter (subject), by part of the students, allowed satisfactory results in teaching and learning of the proposed objectives. This evaluation was performed by the comparative method of conceptual maps. The conceptual maps showed that the material has established itself as an efficient methodology in the insertion of the optical properties of materials through Nanoscience.

A Quasi-Experimental Design To Study The Effect Of Multicultural Coursework And Culturally Diverse Field Placements On Preservice Teachers' Attitudes Toward DiversityAdeeb, Patty Moore 01 January 1994 (has links)
A quasi-experimental study was conducted within the context of the University of North Florida's EXCEL (Excelling in Clinical Education Learning) teacher preparation program to investigate the impact of three types of educational treatment on the attitudes toward diversity of preservice teachers. Data were collected and analyzed based on the pretest/posttest measures of three self-reporting instruments: Cross Cultural-Adaptability Inventory, the Cultural Diversity Awareness Inventory, and the Bogardus Social Distance Scale. The preservice teachers (N = 208; K-12 regular and special education majors) experienced the following treatments: (1) informal seminar studies of multicultural education issues accompanied by a field experience in a non-culturally diverse public school classroom; (2) informal seminar studies of multicultural education issues accompanied by a field experience in a culturally diverse public school classroom; and (3) no seminar studies of multicultural education issues and no field experience in a public school classroom. The weekly on-campus seminars were conducted by four clinical educators (master teachers from neighboring districts on alternative assignments for two years). In addition, with-in group attitudinal differences toward diversity of preservice teachers enrolled in the fieldbased seminars were examined based on variates of field placement, seminar instructor, gender, age, race, educational major, association with culturally different people, and teaching grade level.
Examination of relationships between groups, based on ANOVA and ANCOVA results at the .05 level of confidence, reveals the followings: (1) no significant differences were found in attitudes toward diversity of preservice teachers enrolled in the field-based seminars focusing on issues of diversity, but significant differences were found between the control and experimental groups at both the onset and end of the study (experimental group had higher mean scores), (2) significant differences were found within-groups for the demographic variates of seminar instructor, age, race, association with people of diversity, and grade level, (3) significant (although minimal) differences were found in attitudes toward diversity between preservice teachers enrolled in the seminars focusing on issues of cultural diversity as compared to the control group of students not enrolled in the seminars (experimental groups had higher mean scores), (4) no significant differences were found between the experimental groups to support the assumption that field experiences within Culturally diverse settings have a positive effect on the attitudes of preservice teachers toward diversity, and (5) although positive significant differences were found between the control and experimental groups following the completion of the multicultural seminars, all three groups remained at the social distance preference level "having merely as a speaking acquaintance" in working with the culturally different as measured on the Bogardus and far below the normed population on the Cross Cultural Adaptability Inventory factor Flexibility/Openness (FO).

Seeing the diverse and plural programs in the field of intergenerational learning, it is interesting to find out about the pedagogical and didactic actions and interactions as well as the influences of governance and regulation in intergenerational learning cultures.
In the theoretical part of this thesis intergenerational learning is described and defined on the level of conceptual and socioscientific approaches, theoretical constitutions and institutional systematisation. Based on the proposed conceptual differentiations, the empirical investigations will elucidate the field of intergenerational learning. As a result the empirical work focuses on a triangulative study combining a program analysis with theory generating expert interviews. The case of study is positioned in the mesodidactic level and is characterised by interferences between makro- and mesodidactic level of action and interaction (Zeuner, 2009).
The theoretical and empirical findings present patterns of intergenerational learning cultures that show an unspecific and dichotomous description of the intended audience. The findings also show that typically intergenerational encounters are more prominent than intended and critically reflected learning processes. Moreover, economic interests overbalance pedagogical interest. Consequently, intergenerational learning is interpreted as a rather low professionalised exploited field of continuing education, where generational encounters are supposed to be pedagogical.

Visual Modeling of Integrated Constructs in Mathematics As the Base of Future Teacher CreativitySmirnov, Eugeny, Burukhin, Sergei, Smirnova, Irina 09 May 2012 (has links)
Visual modeling concept of integrated constructs (essence) of mathematical objects in teacher training of humanistic area is presented as technology of education in problem solving. The main goal of innovative approach is student’s activity in mathematics on generating of concrete essence manifestations on concepts, methods, theorems, algorithms, procedures and so on. Such student’s activity should be:
· Success in an area of actual interests and person’s experience and reached by perception;
· Have high level of variability in visual modeling;
· Success in domain of reflection process stimulation.
Similar creative behavior of persons is typical for actors, dancing, and figure skating and so on.
Now we show that such technology will be fruitful for teacher training in mathematics for humanistic specialties.

Children's participation in changing school grounds and public play areas in ScotlandMannion, Gregory B. January 1999 (has links)
The study draws on theories of society, learning, planning and design, democracy, identity formation, and cultural change to inquire into children’s participation in the social sphere. The thesis emerges from the growing literature in the sociological and educational study of childhood, identity, space and culture. A case study approach, using a variety of participatory methods and photographic visual evidence, is employed to investigate the substantive issue of children’s participation in changing their locales in a contemporary Scottish context. Two main cases are narrated: the first concerns primary school children’s experience in participating in changing school grounds throughout Scotland; the second details the experience of one local authority’s efforts to enhance public play provision for children with disabilities. Local socio-cultural / spatial practices used in the construction of children’s participation and their places of learning, work, and play are described. Children are found to be ‘positioned’ between adult desires to increase children’s participation in matters that affect them, while at the same time, adults may wish to protect children from perceived dangers. The context for children’s participation takes cognisance of the influences of schooling, the exclusion of children from the workplace, as well as the influences of technology, the media, and the changes in family make-up. One central finding of the thesis is that children’s experience of participation appeared to be constructed out of ‘essential beliefs’ about the relations between children and adults, the nature of the child and the child’s ‘place’ in society.
