La construction de la professionnalité émergente en master professionnel : regards évaluatifs de stagiaires et de formateurs / The construction of the emergent professionalism in professional master : evaluative regards of trainees and trainers

Ayoube, Ranim 20 September 2013 (has links)
This study concerns the professional learnings in professional Master 2 within the department of sciences of the education at the University of Toulouse II Mirail. The objective is to enlighten the construction of an emergent professionalism to the students during the year of the training and to characterize the process of support of the director of the memoire and the professional referent. In the context of a professional training, we opted for a longitudinal methodology, by means of semi-directive interviews, allowing to follow our trainees over the year of training. These interviews bring to light the construction of an emergent professionalism by questioning the elements which participate in this construction. All results confirm that in this Master’s degree the students-trainees lived a very enriching work experience for their professional development especially during professional internship. This experience allows to discover and practice directly in the work environment which is expected in the future and to open the door on the professional world. The emergent professionalism to most of the students trainees of 5th year of university (professional Master 2) preparing to work for a company is observable at the end of this training. The identical, operating dimensions with the professional skills and the ethical dimension are present in the process of construction of this professionalism. On the other hand, for most of the students-trainees their professionalism always remains to develop and to improve during all the professional life.

The purpose is to demonstrate that the construction of the knowledge, by means of literary art, allows a creative and critical intellectualization through the conduction of lessons with interdisciplinary strategies. For the development of our reasoning, we support ourselves in theoretical references that prioritize the emergent scientific paradigm, as the theory of the complexity and the theory of multiple intelligences. For in such a way, we proceeded to an extensive bibliographical survey, followed by the analysis of after-tests and questionnaires filled out by the students. We evidenced that even those students who appraise the lesson as traditional, wait that the teacher leads it in an interdisciplinary form. In acknowledging these results, we defend that the proper practical research be a way in the development of a more humanistic look in Education. / This research presents an investigation about service failure and problems faced by consumers when shopping virtually, in order to extend the field of study on service marketing. Considering the growth in the access to internet, mainly in emergent countries such as Brazil, India and China, the online trade has also experienced a consistent increase within these countries. Having in mind the lack of studies that analyze the most frequent failures when shopping through the internet, and compare consumers of emergent countries, the main goal of this research is to investigate the influence of cultural dimensions in the answers consumers offer in service failure situations. The comprehension of consumer behavior in these situations, the identification of cultural aspects which have influence in the process, as well as its relation to the reaction of consumers, were also the aim of this study. A theoretical model was proposed to identify the main antecedent, consequent and moderator constructs of satisfaction. In order to test this model empirically a survey was performed with a sample of 582 consumers who have faced online failures in Brazil, India and China. The data was analyzed using the statistic technique Structural Equations Modeling (SEM). The results demonstrated that in this context consumer satisfaction after virtual failure recovery has a positive impact on repurchase intentions and reduces the propensity to engage in complaint behavior, such as voice, third-party or private response. Among the antecedents, the perception of interpersonal justice presented the greatest impact on consumer satisfaction. Considering cultural dimensions, humane orientation has been identified as a moderator between consumer satisfaction and complaint behavior. Besides of that, taking into consideration the contextual variables, previous experience with the website has shown a stronger impact on satisfaction and complaint constructs, while failure severity has a stronger and negative impact on repurchase intentions.

Professional Learning Communities as a Professional Development Model Focusing on Instructional Practices Used to Teach Writing in Early Childhood

Leonard, Jill T 01 December 2015 (has links)
The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore the implementation of a Professional Learning Community (PLC) as a professional development model effective in altering teachers‘ perceptions of their knowledge and skill in teaching developmental writing in grades K-3. This research is necessary to examine how offering teachers collaborative support needed for understanding and implementing research-based best practice approaches to teach developmental writing strengthens the quality of instructional practice necessary to meet rigorous standards being imparted from Common Core Standards. Through the development of a PLC, teachers have an opportunity for collaborating within the school building, which provides optimal environment for professional development (Lindeman, 1926; Lumpe, 2007). Analysis taken from the pre and post-survey information included the teachers‘ beliefs and understanding of writing development, current use of instruction time for writing, and questions or concerns teachers have about teaching writing. Weekly PLC meetings using a protocol format offered teachers an opportunity to discuss personal experiences with writing instruction and to share any anchor charts, student work, or anecdotal records exemplifying the strategy of focus. Videotaping and reflective journaling collected during the six PLC sessions were transcribed and coded using predetermined and emerging themes within and across each measure. Presentation materials collected as data documentation of the experience aided in validation of the research. Major themes emerged under the code headed as management with sub-codes of planning and classroom management presenting the strongest focus. Major themes also emerged under the code headed as instruction. The strongest areas of focus under the instruction code included subcoded areas conferencing, minilessons, and teaching strategies.

Analyzing flexible demand in smart grids

Kühnlenz, F. (Florian) 25 October 2019 (has links)
Abstract The global energy system is undergoing a slow but massive change, initiated by environmental concerns but it is increasingly driven also by the zero-marginal cost of renewable energy. This change includes an increase in the effort to make the electric power system the main transport path for energy in the future. A massive research and development effort has henceforth been put into modernizing the electricity grid towards a so-called Smart Grid, by combining the power grid with communication networks and automation, as well as modernized market systems and structures. This work contributes to this process by introducing two unique models. The first provides a tool for better understanding the impact of combined infrastructure networks with a simple yet complex model of a combined energy, communication and decision model. The second model provides a detailed agent-based environment of an electricity market, supporting various independent entities inside the market, as well as a high time resolution and the often-neglected aspect of coupled market stages. That is, all mis-predictions of the first market stage (day-ahead) have to be settled at the second (balancing) stage. Both models are then used to assess the problem of demand side management, in which the traditional practice of power production being adjusted to the demand is at least partially dropped and flexibility in the demand is used to match the supply – as such technologies are deemed crucial to integrate the unsteady supply from renewable resources, like wind and solar power. We find that complicated scaling effects can be found even in the simplified model, hinting at insufficient consideration of the complexities involved in the real world. We then go to show such unfavorable scaling effects also exist in the current market environment as modeled in our second model. Finally, we show how to circumvent these problems within the current environment as well as introduce a framework to analyze cyber-physical systems and better handle their complexity.

Early Literacy Abilities in Spanish-English Emergent Bilingual Children from Varied Dialectal Backgrounds

Mastrota, Antonietta 29 June 2018 (has links)
The Hispanic population within the United States has grown to a considerable amount. The state of Florida’s population is 25% Hispanic, with projected estimates of this population continuing to grow in the coming years (Ortman & Shin, 2011). Statistics show that 28.3% of the state’s population, over the age of five, speak a language other than English at home. With this considerable number of Spanish-speakers comes the responsibility to adjust certain educational practices to best meet their needs. Literacy is an essential part of learning, and therefore assessing early literacy is an essential part to any child’s academic development. Phonological awareness is the ability to manipulate and identify the phonological segments of a word (Blachman, Tangel, Ball, Black & Mcgraw, 1999). It is a strong predictor for early literacy abilities (Bradley & Bryant, 1983, Kozminsky & Kozminsky, 1995, Vandervelden & Siegel 1997). This relationship between phonological awareness and early literacy exists within the English language, and also within many other alphabetic languages such as Spanish (Anthony, Williams, McDonald, Corbitt-Shindler, Carlson, & Francis, 2006). Therefore, phonological awareness shares an important relationship to early literacy abilities for both English and Spanish speakers. There are many morphological, phonological, syntactical, and lexical subtleties that exist between varied dialects of the Spanish language. Vocabulary and lexicon use has been shown to positively influence phonological awareness skills in young children. Dialectical classifications of the participants were determined through use of different dialect specific vocabulary word list in the Linguistic and Cultural Background Survey. This study sought to evaluate whether dialectical differences among young Spanish-English bilinguals were associated with performance on measures of phonological awareness and reading. Twelve participants (children ages 3.17 years to 7.5 years and their parents participated in the study. Children completed a short form of the dynamic assessment of phonological awareness in Spanish (Loreti, 2015), the Letter-Word Identification of the Woodcock-Muñoz Language Survey-Revised (WMLS-R; Woodcock et al., 2005), the Elision, Rapid Automatic Naming, and Letter Name/Letter Sound subtests from the Test of Phonological Sensitivity in Spanish (TOPSS; Brea et al., 2003) and the Preschool Language Scales, Fifth Edition Spanish Screening Test (PLS-5; Zimmerman et al., 2011). Parents completed a Linguistic and Cultural Background Survey designed to identify potential dialectical differences among the children. Results from the Linguistic and Cultural Background Survey indicated that all participants used the dialect consistent with Central America, and six additionally used lexical features of dialects outside of Central America. Consequently, children were categorized into either a Central group or a Central Plus group. The Central group indicated the use of words specific to the Central American dialect of Spanish. The Central Plus group indicated use of Central American dialect specific words, as well as words specific to Standard and Caribbean dialects of Spanish. These two groups were compared on the assessments of phonological awareness and early literacy. The results indicated that there were no statistically significant differences on any of the assessments between the dialect groups. Although the comparisons on the measures of Letter Word Identification Subtest and Letter Name Letter Sound subtest demonstrated medium effect sizes in favor of the Central plus another dialect group, and Rapid Automatic Naming demonstrated a medium effect in favor of the Central only group. Further investigation is needed to demonstrate these medium effects to a greater extent.

Hybrid Human Agency: A Teleodynamic Socio-Spatial Interaction Model for Emergent Human Agency Architecture

Boyko, Erik 16 April 2010 (has links)
People relate with one another in space and through imagined and technologically mediated networks. This thesis is concerned with the relationship between these two types of social connections – spatial and network. Spatial connections structure collectives of people in the same place at the same time. Network connections structure relations between people without regard to place or time. Spatial connections are complex, but rigid by nature, while network connections are simple, but flexible. Essential articulations emerge between these two connection types. These articulations create and evolve contemporary socio-spatial systems such as the city, its many places, and groups of people therein. However, the basic human experience of these systems remains largely polarized between spatial and network social practices to the disadvantage of human agency. This thesis proposes a teleodynamic, socio-spatial interaction model for the articulation of these social practices in human agency architecture. The model is a mobile experience design that functions through people with ‘smart’ mobile devices. It connects them with one another in public place and to global information and communication networks simultaneously. Sociological study informs the model’s design – constraints and conditions for the connection extents and integrity of social interaction. The model supports self-organizing circular relationships between human interaction dynamics and their trace structures based on a methodology for emergence in complex systems. It effects the emergence of the aforementioned socio-spatial, human agency architecture, with great flexibility. The model and architecture together serve to better articulate contemporary spatial and network social practices to the benefit of human agency in urban space.

Supplementing consumer insights at Electrolux by mining social media: An exploratory case study

Chaudhary, Amit January 2011 (has links)
Purpose – The aim of this thesis is to explore the possibility of text mining social media, for consumer insights from an organizational perspective. Design/methodology/approach – An exploratory, single case embedded case study with inductive approach and partially mixed, concurrent, dominant status mixed method research design. The case study contains three different studies to try to triangulate the research findings and support research objective of using social media for consumer insights for new products, new ideas and helping research and development process of any organization. Findings – Text mining is a useful, novel, flexible and an unobtrusive method to harness the hidden information in social media. By text-mining social media, an organization can find consumer insights from a large data set and this initiative requires an understanding of social media and its building blocks. In addition, a consumer focused product development approach not only drives social media mining but also enriched by using consumer insights from social media. Research limitations/implications – Text mining is a relatively new subject and focus on developing better analytical tool kits would promote the use of this novel method. The researchers in the field of consumer driven new product development can use social media as additional evidence in their research. Practical implications – The consumer insights gained from the text mining of social media within a workable ethical policy are positive implications for any organization. Unlike conventional marketing research methods text mining is social media is cost and time effective. Originality/value –This thesis attempts to use innovatively text-mining tools, which appear, in the field of computer sciences to mine social media for gaining better understanding of consumers thereby enriching the field of marketing research, a cross-industry effort. The ability of consumers to spread the electronic word of mouth (eWOM) using social media is no secret and organizations should now consider social media as a source to supplement if not replace the insights captured using conventional marketing research methods. Keywords – Social media, Web 2.0, Consumer generated content, Text mining, Mixed methods design, Consumer insights, Marketing research, Case study, Analytic coding, Hermeneutics, Asynchronous, Emergent strategy Paper type Master Thesis
