do capital-informação no projeto democrático contemporâneo. / Starting from the premise that the spoliation movement characteristic of the primitive
accumulation of capital has not been exhausted at all, but is broadly and systematically
reissued in order to privatize social relations, the thesis is based on the correlation between
the enclosure of lands and the "enclosure" of knowledge. This research demonstrates the
analogy between the rent of land described by Karl Marx, originated by the "traditional"
private property, and the informational rent, derived from the intellectual property that
expands globally in the Capital-Information, a post-Fordist context that highlights the
informational work. This theoretical development is applied to a case study which
investigates the conflict between the free access and the private appropriation of scientific
and technological knowledge involved in the creation of quantum technologies. It is
observed that the knowledge circulation in a Physics area called Quantum Information is
impaired by the incidence of intellectual property rights, despite the existence of open
access tools, such as the arXiv digital platform. At the end, some considerations are made
about the impacts of Capital-Information on the contemporary democratic project.

IN THE NOVEL OF MARCEL PROUST\'S \"In Search of Lost Time\", parade before the reader\'s eyes, a compendium of enigmatic, fragmentary beings, offering itself, throughout the work, a range of new images and possibilities. In this complex set of unpredictable beings, there is a particular case of a secondary character, apparently figuring in the narrative as being anecdotal, just to make a comic, childlike environment in Combray, the prosaic town of the novel heros childhood: Aunt Léonie. The objective of the present work is not only to analyze this seemingly be risorius, \"the eternal sick of Combray.\" Above all, it presents in the Proustian novel itself that Léonie, as so many characters that path towards the discovery of the true vocation of the hero, also put your little stone in monumental composition of the work to come, for, in his own way, also contribute for the composition that he would resign to life, reserve to itself only the essentials, in order to compose his novel.

Manipulated Private and Public Spheres : The Use of Control Technologies by Totalitarian RegimesMahzoon, Alireza January 2012 (has links)
In my paper, I explore how totalitarian regimes use technology to break the borders between the private and public spheres, through the study of two fictional works. Reflecting how real regimes operate, these fictional totalitarian regimes apply technology to extend the sphere of public authority. Exploring the idea, I am going to compare two totalitarian regimes in different periods of time. The first one is the Republic of Gieald, which is depicted in The Handmaid’s Tale 1985 by Margaret Atwood, and the second one is the society presented in the movie The Island, directed by Michael Bay. By technology in my paper, I mean it in the most comprehensive sense of the term, modern invented technologies and institutions after 18th century in post Industrial Revolution era. In what follows, I am applying the concepts, which are the product of control invention. I will argue that the states penetrate into private sphere by imposing repressive rules for having sex or reproductivity. Moreover, I portray that the states use different forms of media and surveillance in private and public spheres, to enlarge the state.

Heat transfer characteristics of natural convection within an enclosure using liquid cooling systemGdhaidh, Farouq Ali S. January 2015 (has links)
In this investigation, a single phase fluid is used to study the coupling between natural convection heat transfer within an enclosure and forced convection through computer covering case to cool the electronic chip. Two working fluids are used (water and air) within a rectangular enclosure and the air flow through the computer case is created by an exhaust fan installed at the back of the computer case. The optimum enclosure size configuration that keeps a maximum temperature of the heat source at a safe temperature level (85°C) is determined. The cooling system is tested for varying values of applied power in the range of 15-40W. The study is based on both numerical models and experimental observations. The numerical work was developed using the commercial software (ANSYS-Icepak) to simulate the flow and temperature fields for the desktop computer and the cooling system. The numerical simulation has the same physical geometry as those used in the experimental investigations. The experimental work was aimed to gather the details for temperature field and use them in the validation of the numerical prediction. The results showed that, the cavity size variations influence both the heat transfer process and the maximum temperature. Furthermore, the experimental results ii compared favourably with those obtained numerically, where the maximum deviation in terms of the maximum system temperature, is within 3.5%. Moreover, it is seen that using water as the working fluid within the enclosure is capable of keeping the maximum temperature under 77°C for a heat source of 40W, which is below the recommended electronic chips temperature of not exceeding 85°C. As a result, the noise and vibration level is reduced. In addition, the proposed cooling system saved about 65% of the CPU fan power.

Designing a Physical Unclonable Function for Cryptographic HardwareBergfalck, Ludwig, Engström, Johannes January 2021 (has links)
Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) are embedded systems that provide a physically secure data storage and handling environment. This master thesis evaluates an HSM method incorporating cryptographic key generation, key management, and tamper protection. The HSM concept involves a sensing mesh structured Physical Unclonable Function (PUF), where the cryptographic key is derived from the sum of cross-sectional area capacitance between conductors on adjacent layers of a flex PCB forming a grid. This sensing mesh PUF that stores a digital fingerprint in its microstructure is used to enclose an internal system extracting and managing the keys. This ensures that accessing the internal structure is unmanageable without modifying the enclosure. Since the cryptographic key is derived from the intrinsic properties within the sensing mesh, modifying it will change its intrinsic properties and change the cryptographic key and make it unusable. The Master thesis contains PCB design and development of a prototype of the PUF system and an associated capacitance measurement system, which can handle and extract unique keys from each copy of the PUFs. A hardware assembling, experimenting, and evaluation procedure were performed regarding the robustness of the PUF and its susceptibility to environmental impacts such as temperature changes, invasive attacks, and agitation. Additionally, an performance evaluation is made by estimating a set of quality factors often associated with PUFs, such as uniqueness, reliability, uniformity, and bit-aliasing on the extracted cryptographic keys. The cryptographic keys provide good reliability in stable conditions for each PUF copy of the population. The cryptographic keys also provide gooduniqueness, uniformity, and bit-aliasing estimations with the quality factors. Moreover, an invasive attack experiment indicates that the PUF enclosure prototype provides tamper detection possibilities together with distinct structure modifications when an intrusion attempt is performed. As stated in theory, PUFs are sensitive to environmental changes, which is also observable in the results when the PUF enclosure prototype is exposed to various environmental conditions. / <p>Examensarbetet är utfört vid Institutionen för teknik och naturvetenskap (ITN) vid Tekniska fakulteten, Linköpings universitet</p>

Návrh a realizace aktivních reproduktorových soustav s digitálním vstupem / Design and Implementation of Active Loudspeaker System with Digital InputUchytil, Filip January 2012 (has links)
The work is focused on a design of an active loudspeaker system with a bi-amp amplifier and a digital input. There is described the theory of a loudspeaker enclosure design and its practical implementation. Furthermore the work deals with a design and construction of input circuits such as a preamplifier, Baxandall tone control, active crossover, all-pass filter and S/PDIF. On the basis of the amplifier´s theory the optimal construction of amplifiers and their design are selected. The complex design of the loudspeaker box is devised so that it would reach a maximum acoustic power during the preservation of a low distortion.

IMPROVED SUB SYSYEM ENCLOSUREPETER, EMMANUEL, SHAJI, ALAN January 2022 (has links)
Building envelopes are perhaps the most influencing players on assuring indoor comfort conditions, in alliance with their impact on the sustainability and energy-efficiency of the building during operation. However, given the multitude of commercial solutions available on the market and the use of different criteria and inconsistent semantics among the existing categorization/classification systems of construction objects, there is still a need for uniformization of the many regarding the main Prefabricated Enclosure Wall Panel Systems (PEWPS) for building applications. In such context, this paper firstly explores the distinct categories of off-site Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), and how can they be classified. Secondly, focus will be given to panelized systems, where the classification of PEWPS is thoroughly investigated, the size and complexity of individual components have a significant impact on the ease of installation of a system. Larger prefabricated panels are typically heavier and bulkier, making transportation and erection more difficult. Smaller panels are made up of more and smaller a component, which increases the amount of on-site construction labor. In this paper, costs have been reduced by Stainless Steel 316This thesis has tried to devise a solution which balances the manufacture’s need to make a repetitive solution many times with an industry that generally designs a specific solution for each enclosure system.Customer-caused losses include inefficiencies such as frequent design and specificationmodifications, as well as delays due to missing approvals. The Lean Construction Institute hasaided in the transformation of the construction culture through the application of agile and leanphilosophies, principles, and techniques. This paper has highlighted the non-conformities at the organization and the NCR to curtail this to reduce costs and internal quality.

I like to move (it) - Use of outdoor space in a mixed exhibit of ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) and red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra) at Furuvik ZooRobinson González, Gabriel Aritz January 2021 (has links)
By studying how captive animals use outdoor space, we can determine which areas fulfill their biological and behavioral needs to improve enclosure design for animal welfare and visitor experience. The aim of the study was to determine the differential use of outdoor space in a mixed exhibit of captive ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta) and red ruffed lemurs (Varecia rubra), and to assess both the effect of adding environmental enrichment and possible visitor and meteorological effects on the lemurs’ use of space and behavior. For one month, five-minute interval scan sampling was used to record lemur location and behavior, as well as the meteorological conditions and presence of zoo visitors in the lemurs’ outdoor enclosure. That baseline was followed by four alternating two-week periods of food or structural enrichment, both with and without visitors. Enrichment increased the lemurs’ use of the enriched sectors, decreased resting, and increased locomotion. Structural enrichment increased their exploratory behaviors and stimulated arboreal locomotion. Both species preferred sunny and warm conditions for sunbathing and resting, while moving more around the enclosure in cooler and cloudier weather. The visitor effect on the lemurs’ use of space was weaker than the effects of enrichment and meteorological conditions. The availability of areas to hide and possible habituation to humans may have played a role in the reduced visitor effect. The results of the study showed inter-specific differences in the lemurs’ use of space and behavior and a complex combined effect of enrichment, visitor presence and meteorological conditions.
