Leprosy (or Hnasen’s Disease), is a major problem in Brazillian public health not only for its prevalence rate of cases but also for its chronic development. Futhermore, when the disease is not treated, it may cause injuries and deformities. The objective of developing this research was due to permanent cases of this ailment in Nossa Senhora do Socorro, a small town in Sergipe. This city ranks in the third position concerning the incidence of the disease in the state of Sergipe. The public heath institutions claim that prejudice and exclusion of part of the population to have access diagnosis and treatment even in the beginning of the disease have been the main obstacles to eliminate leprosy. The general purpose of the research was to find out and analyze the leprosy patients in order to know the sufferers’ profile in terms of socioeconomic aspects, information about the disease, ways of treatment and the impact of the disease in the leprosy patients’ everyday life. The methodological procedures combined documentary analysis and semistructured interview. The group involved in the research was maily women still working with low family’s income and poor schooling, bad jobs. It is important that these patients didn’t have correct information about either the diagnosis or the beginning of the treatment, for they ended up mixing up the symptoms of leprosy with other diseases, sometimes they couldn’t even notice them. Although they had undergone the treatment, some had wrong interpretation and consequently stopping the treatment. In relation to the impacts in the sufferers’ everyday life, it could be noticed negative repercussion in their self image, willingness of occultation of the disease and the perception of healing as the elimination of all symptoms and sequels. It can be concluded through the research that prevention, diagnosis and treatment can’t be limited to health area only, but it is important to mention the necessity of involving health, education and environment. Last but not least, it is worth mentioning enviromental education, as well as taking into consideration the patients’ insights and their living conditions to promote the prevention and treatment of the disease.
O grupo pesquisado apresentou
predominância do sexo feminino, baixa escolaridade e renda familiar, sub-empregos e desemprego.

This vast area requires participatory management strategies, including already provided in their legal frameworks. Significant portions of these strategies were outlined in the National Strategic Plan for Protected Areas - PNAP ( Acronym in Portuguese). The PNAP predicted the formulation of a National Strategy for Communication and Environmental Education within the National System of Conservation Units (ENCEA Acronym in Portuguese). This work aims at analyzing the limits and possibilities that ENCEA through Environmental Education has to assist in participatory management of protected areas, in order to provide an ecologically balanced environment essential to a healthy quality of life as recommended by the Brazilian federal constitution. Consider environmental education as a key strategy for different social actors involved in the management of specially protected more qualified manner to provide not only a special environmental care areas, but also in the pursuit of improving the quality of life of local residents in PAs or their surroundings. The construction of new legal frameworks as ENCEA can assist in the mission to encourage and establish participation in a country like Brazil, uneven both socially and environmentally as in the processes of decision making / Mestrado / Tecnologia e Inovação / Mestre em Tecnologia

The implementation of active learning within fieldwork in environmental education in primary schools.Xulu, Phillip James 27 February 2009 (has links)
M.Ed. / Environmental Education fieldwork is any educational activity that takes place outside the classroom. It may take place on the school grounds or in a local park, or in fact anywhere where practical outdoor classroom activities are possible. As such Environmental Education fieldwork is regarded by most Environmental Education teachers as central to teaching and learning activities, because of its nature in engaging learners through direct experiences in the environment. Therefore, this cannot happen in rigidly planned classroom activities where the teacher and the text book are the only source of information. Teaching and learning methods employed in Environmental Education fieldwork involves learners in diverse encounter, dialogue and foster greater awareness and meaningful change in learner’s insight and attitudes towards the environment. This study investigates the implementation of active learning within Environmental Education fieldwork in primary schools. Literature review on active learning, fieldwork and Environmental Education and the curriculum was undertaken to establish the extent to which active learning within fieldwork in Environmental Education is implemented in primary schools. One hundred questionnaires were distributed to primary school teachers to complete. Interviews were conducted with held with teachers and focus group interviews were also conducted with learners from primary school in the Nongoma district. The main findings of the study were the following: • The major finding of this study was that teachers were not knowledgeable about the implementation of active learning within fieldwork in Environmental Education. Problems identified as hindrances to the undertaking of Environmental Education fieldwork clearly shows that very few if any of the teachers undertook Environmental Education fieldwork in their learning programmes. • The need to state clear objectives for the undertaking of Environmental Education fieldwork became evident in this study. Clear objectives determine meaningful learning tasks for the learners to engage in during the undertaking of Environmental Education fieldwork. Teachers failed to develop meaningful learning activities that are pertinent to Environmental Education fieldwork. • The study further revealed that teachers had very little knowledge of the procedures for the undertaking of Environmental Education fieldwork. From this study it is evident that active participatory learning within Environmental Education fieldwork was not implemented effectively in primary schools.

To develop children's knowledge and action competence through environmental educationSilva, Joel, Lagerstedt, Elin January 2022 (has links)

Problematika výuky dřevin na 1. stupni ZŠ / Timber species education of the elementary SchoolHladíková, Hana January 2011 (has links)
The main objective of this thesis is the preparation and realization of project about timber species for pupils attending fourth grade of elementary school. Introductory chapters present basic curricular documents about environmental education. The author analyses elementary school textbooks focusing on naturalistic topics and finds out the ways in which the subject matter of timber species is covered in textbooks of fourth and fifth grade of elementary school. In the chapter Characteristics of Rieger's Park, the author examines the history of the park and mentions woody species to be found on the park's territory. One part of the thesis deals with results arising from questionnaire survey carried out at schools in the adjacent park surroundings. The main purpose of the questionnaire survey was to find out how much interest there is in the project dealing with issues of timber species in Rieger's Park. The author set the objective at the same time of finding out what form of the project would be the most convenient for teachers of the selected schools. Practice-oriented part contains the project "Timber Species in the Rieger's Park".
