Slutsats: IBD blir allt vanligare i världen. / Background: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) includes the diseases Ulcerative Colitis and Morbus Crohn. Rezension: Julia Ahrens (2009). Going Online, Doing Gender. Jost, Gerhard 05 1900 (has links) (PDF)

The Alchemy of the EverydaySoderberg, Nanda 01 January 2007 (has links)
Everyday objects inspire and inform what I do. The personal histories and associations we may have with ordinary things are of great personal interest to me. Often times, these items reflect the social class, education, and background of the owners. I am drawn to these objects and the possibility of elevating them in a way that transcends their implied meanings (their worth, importance, and status). The transformation of the mundane is a method of working that allows associations to remain intact while bringing new meaning and perspective to the object. My method of working becomes an alchemic process aimed at turning the ordinary into "art" which is second only to turning used cooking oil into fuel to run your car, and maybe third to turning lead into gold.

Based on a True StoryElkins, Mary 26 April 2011 (has links)
Trying to remember is a form of forgetting. Memory fades, changes meaning, and disappears over time. While trying to find other ways to preserve stories about my family, it occurred to me that I could recreate what I remember in clay. I am creating collections of physical mementos of the memories that fill my head, focusing mainly on my childhood. Remembering is in itself an act of forgetting, and thus this is my memory preservation kit. I am recording memories of my family for posterity in clay before I have a chance to forget.

Obyčejný život královského města Louny na konci 16. století / Ordinary Life in the Royal Town Louny at the End of the 16th CenturyPaterová, Petra January 2012 (has links)
The history of everyday life is an interesting historical branch, which brings the researcher a lot of information about family, work, entertainment, problems and other things that surround everyone and every day. In the same way, these things have influenced lives of our ancestors. The fascination with ordinary lives of early modern history is actually a desire to get to know oneself. Despite the fact that the outlook on everyday things may have changed during the centuries, what has not changed were the topics. The libri testimoniorum are a more than suitable source of information for everyday life research. Owing to the testimonies of the witnesses of the particular trials, the books unwittingly reveal many details about the life of early modern towns. Studies of these books bring motivation for researching not only the everyday history, but also culture and mentality history. Last but not least, it is important to mention research into criminality of early modern towns.

Snížení lidé v prostoru raně novověkého města (Kati a pohodní ve východočeských městech 17. století) / Dishonourable Townspeople of the Early Modern Times (Executioners and Knackers in Eastern Bohemia in the 17th Century)Pultarová, Marie January 2015 (has links)
The thesis deals with the theme of social groups of individuals, historically known as "disreputable people", among whom the executioners, knackers and bailiffs belonged. The main aim is to capture the social status of these people, who are historiographically considered as the individuals standing on the lowest rung of the social ladder. Detailed analysis of the sources of urban provenance is to show both the interaction of this group and its individuals with the rest of the urban community, especially with individuals considered as honorable, and also the everyday life of disreputable people in the urban environment. The thesis is divided into three parts, which are further thematically divided. The first part shows the theoretical and methodological level with an emphasis on previous studies dealing with the phenomenon of honor and also issues of discreditable people and of capital punishment. The following two parts contain an analysis of the situation of dishonourable people in the East Bohemian town of Pardubice in 17th century and because of the necessary comparison of regional differences, there was also the research of analogous conditions of another East Bohemian town Náchod included. Inside the urban society the professional functions of these individuals, their property background,...

Socio-materiality as phenomenon : growing Transition cultureRussi, Luigi January 2015 (has links)
This thesis innovates on existing literature on the Transition movement by relinquishing stock academic definitions of its ends and means, which purportedly spell out what Transition 'is'. In its stead, it approaches Transition as phenomenon, namely as an evolving socio-material formation that proliferates a cultural repertoire to sustain a growing range of concerted everyday activities. This is the difference between an instrumental focus, whereby Transition is reduced to a strategy which is oriented towards an unchanging programmatic definition, and an orientational one; the latter attuned to the contingent process by which a movement expresses form and orientation in emergent fashion. The monograph and the introductory chapter contribute to this task in different ways. Everything Gardens and Other Stories undertakes a rich description of various practical realms of Transition and, to capture the coming into being of a phenomenon, it pays particular attention to its developmental trajectory. This entails focusing on the generative movement of the culture of Transition, as it emerges from the attempt to address embodied disquiets originally elicited by information about peak oil and climate change. That initial focus, however, forms merely a station along a path in which new sources of anxiety find validation and prompt further cultural production. The monograph also describes the tensions arising in the process, as a growing body of discursive and material resources have to negotiate an accommodation, in order to become reciprocally recognisable as participant parts enfolded in a common cultural milieu. The introductory chapter supports this account by fleshing out a methodological paradigm that helps direct attention to the unfolding of a socio-material phenomenon in its dilemmatic moments and continual negotiations. For this purpose, starting from canonical sources in phenomenology, it goes on to situate the 'unfolding' of a phenomenon in the proliferation of entanglements between actors, human and nonhuman. In the 'mattering' of a phenomenon so understood, dilemmatic moments call forth an ethical questioning and an ontological politics immanent to the very process of cultural production. This, it is submitted, is precisely how an orientational focus allows to access Transition as phenomenon, beyond the bounds of academic definitions.

[en] THE CONTEMPORARY URBAN SPACE AND THE TOTAL INSURGENT SUBJECT / [pt] O ESPAÇO URBANO CONTEMPORÂNEO E O SUJEITO TOTAL INSURGENTEJOAO PAULO MONTE DE SANTANA 30 May 2014 (has links)
[en] This dissertation undertakes a discussion about contemporary society from a geographical perspective. More precisely, it focuses on the mutual imbrications between subject and society that are constituted, as entities, through space-time, which necessarily permeates the period of globalization where city and urban take over a remarkable importance for the understanding of urban space in relation to (inter) actions, multiple scales, mediation, materiality and representations produced and lived on an immediate way by subject in everyday life, especially through its dimensions. However, under the hegemony of the capitalist system, such a socio-spatial dynamic is destroyed when it is impregnated with mercantilist, individualistic, reductionist, abstract-concrete domination and exploitation relations, triggering numerous and intense problems, social conflicts and contradictions. In order to oppose and challenge such totalitarian order, the objective is to analyze the importance of urban space in the process of composing a subject as an entity, under the alienating / alienated power of capital and at the same time, among the dissatisfaction, insurgencies and (re) theoretical stocks and practices in the face of such a hegemonic power. Thus, it is possible to identify the subject in action and the role of space in this case: sometimes as a fragmented, homogenized and hierarchical instrument of power and alienation essential to the reproduction of capital; sometimes conceived, perceived and lived as a route / link that enables horizons, as the Right to the City, and meeting and appropriation of the tangible and intangible elements necessary for the reproduction of life. In summary, this is the context and the challenge in which the total subject, living a everyday life in society.
