Graduate Record Examination scores and grade-point averages of graduate students at the College of the Pacific

King, Delbert Wesley 01 January 1953 (has links)
There has been much concern as to the validity of the Graduate Record Examination in determining the ability of a student to do effective graduate work. Some hold that the Profile score is a necessary index of a person’s ability to do graduate work, while others believe there is no close relationship between the two There is also a feeling that students who have been out of school for many years are at a disadvantage when taking the Graduate Record Examination Profile Tests, and that some departments prepare their students better for the tests. The lack of agreement as stated above led to the following problems: (1) What relationship is there between a student’s grade-point average and this total score on the Graduate Record Examination Profile Tests?; (2) What apparent variations are there between the scores of men and women; the scores of students majoring in the departments of education, history, literature, fine arts, psychology, and science; and the number of years since receiving the A.B. in relation to the scores obtained on Graduate Record Examination Profile Tests?

Mostový jeřáb 18 t x 28 m / Overhead travelling crane 18 t x 28 m

Veselý, Vít January 2008 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with examination of a steel construction of an overhead travelling crane with a span of 28 metres, lifting capacity of 18 tons and maximum lifting height of 6.5 metres. The crane will be installed in a hall. Solution of this project contains calculation of load and examination of the crane construction with fatigue under the Czech standard ČSN 27 0103 and the European standard EN 13001 and comparison of calculations under both of the technical norms.

Optimalizace laserem vytvářených průvarových svarů u pozinkovaných plechů / Optimization of the laser weld of overlap seam for zink layered sheet metal

Plíšek, Roman January 2014 (has links)
This diploma thesis deals with the experiment of welding galvanized sheets using fiber laser. The experiment is based on testing of welds lap joints with different gap between the welded parts. Theoretical part of this diploma thesis describes the principles and different types of lasers, laser welding technology, welding defects, galvanizing and inspection of welded joints. In the experimental part of the thesis welding tests and analysis of the results of the experiment have been realised and evaluated.

Defect Detection in Friction Stir Welding by Measureable Signals

Hunt, Johnathon Bryce 05 August 2020 (has links)
Friction stir welding (FSW) is an advantageous solid-state joining process, suitable for many materials in the energy, aerospace, naval and automotive industries. Like all other welding processes, friction stir welding requires non-destructive evaluation (NDE). The time and resources to preform NDE is expensive. To reduce these costs, nontraditional NDE methods are being developed for FSW. Spectral based defect recognition uses the forces during the welding process to validate weld quality. Although spectral NDE methods have shown promise as an alternative NDE processes, many research welding speeds do not correspond to manufacturing speeds, nor do they explain the relationship between the spectral data and the process. The purpose of this work is to explore the possibility of acquiring additional information about the defect. Namely the defect’s type, location, and magnitude. In this study, welds with “wormhole” defects were produced at 2000, 2500 and 3000 mmpm in 5754 aluminum. The welding process forces and torque were measured and analyzed spectrally. The welded plates were then imaged with x-ray photography, a validated NDE method. It was found that low frequencies (0 – 4 Hz) in the y & z force signals correlate with defect presence in high speed FSW. In addition, the strong correlation between the spectral data and the presence of a defect allowed for defect magnitude predictions. Linear fits were applied to the defect measurements and the spectral data. Large error inhibits the wide use of this prediction method.

Diedrichs, Peter January 2009 (has links)

Cephalometric landmark detection: Artificial intelligence vs human examination

Indermun, Suvarna January 2021 (has links)
Magister Scientiae Dentium - MSc(Dent) / Cephalometric landmark detection is important for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. The most common cause of random errors, in both computer-aided cephalometry and manual cephalometric analysis, is inconsistency in landmark detection. These methods are time-consuming. As a result, attempts have been made to automate cephalometric analysis, to improve the accuracy and precision of landmark detection whilst also minimizing errors caused by clinician subjectivity. This mini-thesis aimed to determine the precision of two cephalometric landmark identification methods, namely an artificial intelligence programme (BoneFinder®) and a computer-assisted examination software (Dolphin ImagingTM).

Datoriserad examination i matematik

Sveno, Nina January 2015 (has links)
