Podpora sester v případech úmrtí na jednotkách RES a JIP / Support for Nurses in Death Cases at Resuscitation Units and Intensive Care Units

LAYEROVÁ, Helena January 2011 (has links)
At Resuscitation Units and Intensive Care Units nurses face the issue of dying and death every day. Very often they are in contact with the dying and their immediate family and they are expected to have professional approach and provide comprehensive care. Stress that the nurses experience in these situations results into mental, emotional and physical exhaustion, and can be manifested by psychosomatic problems. Preparation of nurses to these situations and support of their management is therefore a key factor for the management of this demanding profession. The theoretical part of the thesis contains a description of the current state of the issue, characterizes resuscitation and intensive care, and deals with the issue of death and dying in Resuscitation Units nad Intensive Care Units, managing situations associated with death and the support of nurses in these situations. The work has four goals. The first objective is to determine what method of preparation of nurses is in practice ensured in Resuscitation Units and Intensive Care Units for the performance of high-quality nursing care for dying patients. Another objective is to determine whether and how the nurses are prepared and trained in the field of management of situations connected with the death of a patient in Resuscitation Units and Intensive Care Units. The third objective is, whether there is and what is the form of assistance to nurses in RU and ICU provided by the team and the management of the Department in case of deaths of patients, and the fourth objective is to determine what form and manner of support nurses expect and require. Research part of the thesis was carried out by quantitative investigation using an anonymous questionnaire. Respondents were answering 38 questions, 13 questions were closed, 21 half open and 4 were open. The support is most frequently understood as a psychological support, good teamwork, communication, supervision and representation where necessary. Management is expected primarily to provide support through education, ensuring supervision, corresponding financial support and professional psychological assistance where necessary. On the basis of this work?s results a proposal for the course for paramedical professions working in RS and ICU called ?Course of the Strategy of Difficult Situations Management in the Care for the Dying and Their Close Family in Intensive and Urgent Care?, was made.

Coronapandemins mörka sida : En kvalitativ studie av socialsekreterares upplevelser av hur coronapandemin kan påverka våld mot barn / A qualitative study of social workers’ experience regarding how Covid-19 pandemic can affect violence against children

Dulfo, Krizzylita Rose, Björk, Emma January 2021 (has links)
The aim of the study was to find out social workers' experiences of how the corona pandemic contributed to domestic violence, as well as how they worked against it under the prevailing circumstances. It was a qualitative study with a semi-structured interview as a data collection method. Eight social secretaries were interviewed, and the collected data was analyzed through a thematic analysis. The theoretical frameworks applied in the analysis in this study were intersectionality and systems theory. Results showed that reports of concern had increased since the outbreak of the corona pandemic with a clarity that the reports had been violence related. Results also showed that the implementation of assessments and investigations carried out by the social services was limited due to restrictions. With a systematic theoretical framework, it could be concluded that the corona pandemic was a highly relevant contributing factor to family-related violence.

Aufbauender Musikunterricht vs. Musikpraxen erfahren?

Gies, Stefan, Wallbaum, Christopher January 2010 (has links)
The article deals with similarities and differences between a music teaching concept "Music teaching step by step" and an alternative one which is specified as a concept of aesthetic and cultural education known as "Experiencing musical practices". Topics are exposed in four sections: (1) common positions, (2) the role of popular music within "Music teaching step by step" as well as within "Experiencing musical practices", (3) what does "music" mean? and (4) objections and replies. The fourth section is presenting a dialogue, dealing with the relation between learning situations in the classroom and musical experience, as well as with the specific normativity of the music teaching concepts. Moreover, this chapter is asking, if the concepts are appropriate to the subject''s and to the pupil''s needs and if these concepts take into account the ratio of instructive teaching versus open teaching-learning situations as tools to increase the learning outcomes. The particular understanding of what we mean by "music" is seen to be crucial for music teaching concepts.

Johansson, Alma, Walette, Emilia January 2024 (has links)
The aim of study is to examine how staff in sheltered housing perceive their current work with children and how they believe their work may be affected by the new legislative changes proposed in the bill "Strengthened Rights for Children and Adults in Sheltered Housing", based on that children individually are going to grant a placement decision. The data were collected through interviews with a total of eight professionals in various sheltered housing facilities, both voluntary women's shelters and privately operated sheltered housing. The results were analyzed based on professional theory, discretion and professional competence. The findings indicate that professionals in sheltered housing have a relatively large discretion in working with children, as there is no regulation governing how the work should be conducted. They work to ensure that children feel secure in a place free from violence and to make them feel included. The results also show that support and assistance for children can vary depending on the specific sheltered housing facility, because the requirements to work with the children, and thus the skills, vary. Most professionals welcome that children individually are going to grant a placement decision, as it provides clear guidelines for working with children. However, there is a concern about social services child welfare workers lacking expertise in handling violence, and that the placement times are going to be shorter due to economic circumstances.

Hoffmann, Sherene Faye 30 November 2005 (has links)
In Gestalplaytherapy there is a need for guidelines with a pastoral perspective for the child that is experiencing loss. This research is undertaken to set Gestaltplaytherapeutic guidelines with a pastoral perspective for the therapeutic intervention of the primary school child who is experiencing loss due to the death of a loved one. The study consulted relevant literature and compared the literature study with experience acquired in practice. The impact of the loss that the child is experiencing has an influence on the child as a whole. The researcher has found that the Christian child's experience of loss due to the death of a loved one is influenced greatly by the child's spiritual experience. For this reason it is necessary that Gestaltplaytherapy includes a pastoral approach within the therapeutic setting when working with a child experiencing loss due to the death of a loved one. / Social work / M. Diac. (Play Therapy)

Learning to program, learning to teach programming: pre- and in service teachers' experiences of an object-oriented language

Govender, I. (Irene) 30 November 2006 (has links)
The quest for a better way to learn and teach programming, in particular object-oriented programming, is a challenge that continues to intrigue computer science educators. Even after decades of research in learning to program, educators still search for the optimal instructional approach that will solve the `learning to program effectively' problem among introductory programming students. The aim of this study was to gain insight into, and to suggest possible explanations for, the "qualitatively different ways" in which students experience learning to program using an object-oriented programming language, and to recommend teaching and learning strategies as a result of the outcomes of the research. In order to achieve these aims, a combination of phenomenographic research methods and elements of activity theory have been employed to gain an in depth understanding of pre- and in-service teachers' learning experiences. The categories of description for the phenomenon, learning to program and the influence of the learning context have been analysed and described in detail. It is argued that understanding learning to program using Java, in order to teach programming involves more than understanding learning to program as it is normally taught in university programming courses. In addition to object-oriented concepts such as message passing, inheritance, polymorphism, delegation and overriding, it entails understanding how learning to program is reflected in the goals of instruction and in different instructional practices. Knowledge of learning to program must also be linked to knowledge of students' thinking, so that teachers have conceptions of typical trajectories of student learning, and can use this knowledge to recognize landmarks of understanding in individuals. The findings suggest relationships among students' affective appraisals of the value of learning to program, their conceptions of learning to program, their approaches to learning it, their evaluations of their performance in tests and examinations and outcomes of their actions. The relationships emerged from student descriptions of their actions and the way in which different aspects of their learning and outcomes related to one another were qualitatively described and in some cases, quantified. In particular, the tensions between prior programming knowledge of a procedural language and current learning of an object-oriented language have emerged in the study. This has implications for teaching, as this study was set against the backdrop of the change in programming language in high schools, from a procedural to an object-oriented language. / Mathematical Sciences / PhD (Maths, Science and Technology Education)

Domestic violence: the experiences of young adult females

Themistocleous, Nicola 08 1900 (has links)
There has been a vast amount of research regarding domestic violence. However, the literature is centered on a linear, cause and effect approach. This study aimed to explore domestic violence from the experiences of young female adults, and will be approached from a postmodern perspective. The participants were selected based on purposive sampling and willingness to participate. The sample consists of two participants and the data was obtained through their written stories and semi-structured face-to-face interviews. Themes were then extracted from the data and were explored through hermeneutic analysis which is consistent with the postmodern approach. A qualitative methodological design was used in order to allow meaning to emerge. The results were then presented in an interpretive and descriptive manner. / Psychology / M.A. (Clinical Psychology)

The practice of inclusive education in the Thohoyandou area : a critical reflection

Sidogi, Mukondeleli Grace 08 1900 (has links)
The National Commission of Special Needs in Education and Training (NCSNET) Document (1997) which portrays the new Education Policy in South Africa. clearly states that one of the crucial outcomes is that all possible barriers to learning must be eliminated so that all learners are able to actualise their full potential. Inclusive education, as embedded within the Education Policy, is regarded as an approach which will allow learners to actualise their full potential. This study is a critical reflection on whether inclusive education is practised in primary schools in the Thohoyandou area. The research findings indicated that inclusive education is not practised in the Thohoyandou area. A major factor or barrier in this regard is that teachers and principals are not empowered in terms ofknowledge to practise inclusive education. Other factors acting as barriers to the implementation of inclusive education are that the school buildings do not cater for physically and visually impaired learners as well as the attitudes of teachers, parents and peers are inclined to be negative towards learners experiencing barriers to learning. The community should also be educated and empowered to assist and understand these learners, who will become the future members of the community, more effectively, As inclusive education is one of the means whereby all learners are given the opportunity to actualise their full potential, these barriers must be addressed so that inclusive education can be practised in all primary schools in the Thohoyandou area. A few strategies to implement inclusive education in the Thohoyandou area are suggested by the researcher. / Educational Studies / M. Ed. (Special Needs Education)

Employment expectations of former female offenders

James, Jessuina Katia 02 1900 (has links)
Most studies in South Africa focus on male offenders as they make up the majority of the offending population. With female offenders being in the minority, they receive less of the research attention. The aim of this qualitative study was to explore the subjective experience of finding employment with a criminal record from the perspectives of six female former offenders who participated in the study. Participants were asked to share their accounts during semi-structured interviews. The transcripts were analysed using Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis. A total of nine themes were identified, namely; confronting the labour market; it affected my life not my chances; experiences of vocational skills and labour in corrections; current financial status versus previous financial status; those left behind: the impact of incarceration on the family. I am Human too, entering and adjusting in the correctional system, finding God and oneself, and rehabilitation and reintegration programmes. The findings showed that the experience of incarceration cannot be separated from the experience of adjusting back into society and finding employment. Employment and unemployment had an effect on participants’ financial status but also affected self-esteem and the relationship with family. The findings illustrated how participants used different coping methods to deal with not being able to find employment, dealing with the stigma attached to being a former offender as well as adjusting back into the community. The analyses from the interviews were compared to existing literature, thus creating a rich discussion. An overview of the discussion and some recommendations were provided and the limitations of the study were also taken into account. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)
