[pt] DO IMAGINÁRIO AO REAL: A CRIAÇÃO E A PRODUÇÃO DO LIVRO INFANTIL NA VISÃO DO ILUSTRADOR / [en] FROM IMAGINARY TO REALITY: THE ILLUSTRATOR S VIEW ABOUT CREATION AND PRODUCTION OF CHILDREN S BOOK25 October 2021 (has links)
[en] This work s goal is to study illustration as a fundamental element in the children s book meaning making. A brief historical account of book illustration from Middle Ages is presented. Contemporary illustrators are interviewed to describe their creative process. This process is brought foreword in order to show that image creating is not just based on intuition vis-à-vis the verbal text. As the result of a project of graphic
design, such process is conceived and based on the author s experience, as well as the elements found in references around the written text. The present work, therefore, examines the verbal and visual relationship, and its importance in the creation of children s literary works concerning narrative illustration. The connection between these two codes, is then, discussed bearing in mind different perspectives presented by authors and illustrators.

Make it POP, copycat! : How Behance may affect creativity among designers in Sweden and in which ways the usage of Behance may affest users' perception about their own graphical work.Lewandowska, Daria, Klint, Sara January 2021 (has links)
Humans have the fundamental need to communicate with others and the eruption of social network systems’ (SNSs) have made this easier since we are connected all the time. One SNS that is growing more popular among graphic designers is Behance and this platform, along with its effects is investigated in this paper. Prior research has shown that humans are perceived as creative creatures and possess the need to compare themselves to others. With the development of SNSs these behaviors have moved online, along with the effects on creativity. This study investigated how Behance may affect creativity among Swedish graphic designers, along with how the usage of Behance affects their perception about their own abilities and graphical work. With the use of a triangulation method, consisting of a quantitative online survey and three qualitative informant interviews empirical data was gathered. Afterwards, the data was analyzed and connected to previous research and theoretical framework. The result entails that Behance does affect creativity among graphic designers mostly positively and that designers perception may be influenced by Behance usage in both positive and negative ways. The conclusions are drawn upon our empirical data and two existing theories: the componential theory of creativity & the theory of social comparison. To research this subject further one might do a study with a bigger number of participants or a longer study where the researcher observes the users’ behaviour on the platform instead.

Anthology of Unspoken: Surreal Complexity of Mind / Anthology of Unspoken: Surreal Complexity of MindHrádková, Jana January 2021 (has links)
The diploma thesis Anthology of Unspoken is a form of personal therapy, a coping mechanism in the shape of an extensive personal research presented by visually eclectic web, which maps the perception of depression and melancholy in terms of historical, artistic, and partly academic discourse. AoU takes the form of a website on the border of an archive and a research blog, which visually reminds a notebook with the use of texts in the form of notes, reader view essays, and accompanying visual material (period paintings, pop-cultural references, emoticons etc.). This diploma thesis has two main goals. Firstly, it represents a way of finding means to articulate and at least fractionally understand my own problems. Secondly, it is a way of finding answers to the following questions: Is depression really a modern matter of the 21st century? Why is it so difficult to talk about it? Where do the shame and feeling of guilt, with which it is inextricably associated with, come from? Is melancholy synonymous with depression, or do these terms differ from each other? And is depression really a disease or is it only a sign of my own failure?

HandJet / HandJetŽáčková, Kristýna Unknown Date (has links)
In this diploma thesis, I focus on the main principles of the HandJet mobile printer. This printer is mostly intended for industrial use to mark products and spaces with 2D and EAN codes. Despite the purely utilitarian function of the printer, I have decided to use it for artistic purposes. I look for its potential in application in the field of graphic design and art. I record the process as a part of the work process of a graphic designer when delivering assignments via research, sketching, and automatic drawing. The key aspect is the exploration of the possibilities of visual form. The result is a series of prints presented in the form of an installation.

A doctoral thesis “Czechoslovakian modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s and its influences in the contemporary Czech visual culture” is focused on how a modernist illustration of the 1950s and 1960s influences Czech contemporary authors, especially illustrators. We can witness a particularly strong influence of the above mentioned modernist illustration and visual culture of that period in general among producers employing digital tools and vector graphics served. The thesis contains a historical study which follows developments of the visual language of graphic arts (illustration in particular) in the 1950s and 1960s in relation to fine arts. There is a special focus on a position of the 1960s’ modernist illustration within the applied arts of the period. Biographical study dedicated to illustrator M. Vizualizace vícerozměrných dat pomocí webových technologií / Visualization of multidimensional data using web technologiesBurian, Vojtěch January 2016 (has links)
Scope of this work is the problematic of data visualization. Data visualization is a useful tool to present and gather new information and thus get to better decisions. In theoretical part, data analysis topics are dealt with. Then specific types of graphs are listed and explained, and in next part problems with graph creation are pinpointed. Basics of graphic and web design are also mentioned. Practical part is focused on visualization of data of processed results of speech analysis, gathered from patients with Parkinson disease. Because majority of people in medical industry do not have, or is not able to work with specialized software (such as Matlab), outputs in HTML table and SVG format were created based on Python programming language. Both these parts are accommodated into webpage, which can be easily opened in web browser installed in most of computers regardless of operation system used.
