Paplauskaitė, Gytė 29 June 2009 (has links)
Po to palyginti to paties pavadinimo kelių leidimų knygų paaugliams, iliustruotų skirtingų dailininkų, poveikiai skaitytojui. [en] A DISTINCT CHARACTER, AND IT S REPRESENTATION IN CHILDREN S BOOKS / [pt] UMA PERSONAGEM DIFERENTE E SUA REPRESENTAÇÃO NA LITERATURA INFANTIL

JULIA LIMA LAMPREIA CARVALHO 12 February 2015 (has links)
[en] Just a glance at the childrens section of a bookstore will reveal a number of stories whose narrative elements are undoubtedly similar or related to one another. It is the case of a character perceived as different by its peers, and seeks approval by the group. The Ugly Duckling is, perhaps, the best-known model of this sort of story. The present research intends to show how this archetypical character has the potential to inspire, transform and acquire a variety of visual forms in childrens literature. Actually, images play an important part in the making of meaning in these plots. They will guide us in the analysis of the numerous ways of approaching the theme. We will examine how the visual representation of character seen as different, and looks for its own place and identity within a group, reflects diverse visions about the theme of belonging.

[en] ABAYOMI: THE MOORINGS DESIGN FROM THE FEMININE THREAD COOPERATIVE ENSIGN / [pt] ABAYOMI: O DESIGN NAS AMARRAÇÕES DOS FIOS FEMININOS NA BANDEIRA DE UMA COOPERATIVA

LUCIANA GRETHER DE MELLO CARVALHO 05 September 2006 (has links)
[en] This dissertation deals with the design vernacular of the Abayomi Cooperative black fabric dolls, which are created without any glue or stitches. The Abayomi Cooperative is from Rio de Janeiro; composed of women who designed a visual language in the dolls creation based on faith and power of images, wherein the artists are considered masters of their own craft. Each element used to build a doll has an important meaning for these women. The poses, colors and shapes reinforce what the doll is intended to express by the Abayomi as each one represents a unique story. The creative process excludes textile industrial elements, using a minimum of tools in the design process; therefore the artists approach the manner of production: raw material, process and product. This research was developed from the relationship with Lena Martins, cooperative artist founder, recognizing the Abayomi design, the general material wrought and the senses produced by the group perform. This essay is a participated design project report in the visual language translation, processed with illustration from Abayomi characters and their themes, the cooperative oral, gesture and three- dimensional traditions in face on esthetics matter those pieces make appear.

[en] MACUNAÍMA: MULTIPLE REPRESENTATION OF THE [ANTI-]HERO WITHOUT ANY CHARACTER AT ALL / [pt] MACUNAÍMA [DE DAIBERT]: MÚLTIPLAS REPRESENTAÇÕES DE UM [ANTI-] HERÓI SEM CARÁTER

MARCELO GONCALVES RIBEIRO 09 March 2010 (has links)
[en] Arlindo Daibert (1952-1993), a Brazilian artist, created, in the Eighties, the illustrations to the Mario de Andrade’s book Macunaíma: o herói sem nenhum caráter – Brazil s greatest 20th century book of the Brazilian Modernist movement. However, considering the ancient competition between the verbal and the pictorial as the superior way of telling the ‘truth’, and the dialectic of word and image as an implicit form of Platonism, Daibert did not call his work as illustration but as translation. This work considers a range of Arlindo Daibert’s illustration to Macunaíma and his representational strategies. This work also includes an analysis of illustrations whose characteristics will be the integration of both, word and image. In that way, Daibert performed a plural experiment of translation from text into visual art (book’s illustration).

Ilustrátor Virgil Solis mladší ve službách domácí tištěné knihy / Ilustrator Virgil Solis Jr. In the service of czech printed Book

Hoťová, Anna January 2022 (has links)
This diploma thesis explores the life and the work of the painter and illustrator Virgil Solis Junior (1551 - 1617?). Virgil Solis Junior was the son of the renowned German graphic artist Virgil Solis Senior. In 1567 Solis Junior came to Prague. Firstly, the thesis provides information about Solis's life and position among visual artists in Prague of the time. Further, it describes his potential professional involvement at the court of the Emperor Rudolf II. Virgil Solis was also an illustrator. Drawing from literature published so far, it seems that his only illustrated book was Diadochos, printed in 1602. This thesis, however, supposes that Solis worked on other illustrations during his stay in Prague. It explores and compares various woodcuts from the 16th and 17th centuries and thus compiles a list of printed volumes where Virgil Solis was the author of drawings or woodcuts. This thesis brings an interesting insight into the life of an artist living and working in the Prague of Rudolf II.
