GUI driven End to End Regression testing with SeleniumHamberg, Christer January 2017 (has links)
Digitalization has changed our world and how we interact with different systems. Desktop applications have more and more been integrated with internet, and the web browser has become the Graphical User Interface (GUI) in today’s system solutions. A change that needs to be considered in the automated regression testing process. Using the actual GUI has over time shown to be a complicated task and is therefore often broken out as its own standalone test object. This study looked into time and quality constrains of using the GUI as driver of the regression testing of business requirements in a web based solution. By evaluating the differences in execution times of test cases between Application Programming Interface (API) calls and GUI driven testing, flakiness of test results and required modifications over time for a specific test suite. These constraints were analyzed by looking into how reliability of the test results could be achieved. With a GUI driven full end to end scope the quality in software solutions could be improved with a reduction in the number of interface issues and detected errors in deployed systems. It would also reduce the volume of test cases that needs to be executed and maintained as there are no longer standalone parts to verify separately with partially overlapping test cases. The implementation utilized Selenium WebDriver to drive the GUI and the results showed that by utilizing Selenium the test execution times were increased from approximately 2 seconds (API) to 20-75 seconds (Selenium). The flaky test results could be eliminated by applying the appropriate pattern to detect, locate, and scroll into visibility prior to interacting with the elements. In the end of the study the test execution results were 100% reliable. The navigation required 15 modifications over time to keep them running. By applying the appropriate pattern a reliable test result can be achieved in end to end regression testing where the test case is driven from the GUI, however with an increase in execution time.

User Interface Design for Analysis of Sensor Systems / User Interface Design for Analysis of Sensor SystemsJonsson, Lisa, Sallhammar, Karin January 2003 (has links)
In the future network-based Swedish Defence (NBD), attaining information superiority will be of great importance. This will be achieved by a network of networks where decision-makers, information- and weapon-systems are linked together. As a part of the development of NBD, we have performed a study of user interface design for a future network-based tool package for analysis of sensor systems, referred to as the C2SR-system. This thesis was performed at Ericsson Microwave Systems AB, Sensor and Information Networks, during the autumn 2002. A pre-study concerning the requirements of usability, trustworthiness and functionality of a user interface for the C2SR-system was performed. Officers representing the future users in the NBD played an important role when gathering these requirements. Another important part of the pre-study was the evaluation of software that contains parts of the functionality necessary for the C2SR-system. On the basis of the results from the pre-study, we have designed a user interface to the future C2SR-system. To demonstrate the most important conclusions, a prototype was implemented.

Walk-A-Way : A Maya Plug-in for Walk Cycle AutomationChristiansson, Kajsa January 2009 (has links)
In 3D and 2D animations walk cycles of characters appear very frequently and are an important way of expressing various aspects of the story told. However walk cycles are tedious and time consuming to animate. In this work an Autodesk MAYA plug-in has been developed, that aims at automating this process. The walk cycle plug-in can be highly beneficial for animators when creating convincing walk cycles in a fast and simple way. The plug-in calculates the right values for each phase in the walk cycle. The GUI of the plug-in makes it easy to provide the required input parameters. In addition, the plug-in allows the animation of a character to walk along a chosen path.

Musikens metadata på webbradiotjänster : En studie kring omfattningen av musikens metadata på webbradiotjänster och beståndsdelarnas relevans / Music metadata on web radio services : The extent of musical metadata on web radio stations and its relevance to users A study of music's metadata to web radio services and constituents of relevanceHellström, Johan January 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the extent of musical information presented on web radio stations as well as its avaliability and relevance to the user. Initially, a quantitative analysis of web radio stations was made. The result showed that although music related metadata is presented in different forms, few stations have adopted the majority of this functionality. The result of the analysis in combination with litterature studies resulted in a specification of requirements that was applied to a prototype. Its functionality in terms of music related metadata was evaluated in user tests and interviews. Information relevant to the participants included track and artist names, lyrics, biographies, album covers and music videos. Labels and tour information was deemed less relevant.

Graphical Corporate Interface. A concept for semi-produced Graphical User Interfaces for corporations. / Graphical Corporate Interface. A concept for semi-produced Graphical User Interfaces for corporations.Persson, Emmeli, Sjelvgren, Helen January 2005 (has links)
Abstract The objective of this bachelor’s project is to investigate how to reuse the graphical- and technical aspects of a user interface, and to develop a concept for a semi-produced GUI. When giving shape to a user interface the aim is to make it usable for the end user, so naturally that is part of the work as well. There are a lot of innovative and interesting techniques in the web based GUI domain and some of them are suitable when the aim is to make a GUI which is both reusable and a corporate structure. Two stages exist in the semi-produced GUI concept. The first stage is to investigate and develop the semi-produced. The second stage is to use the semi-produced GUI and prepare a specific GUI for the end user. The whole concept will require some extra effort to begin with. There has to be an enquiry into which functions in the GUI are likely to be reused. The architecture has to be planned to be reusable and be well documented. In the GUI development there are several roles involved and all of them will be affected by the reuse idea. The core in the semi-produced concept is a component-based architecture, a well-prepared reference GUI, GUI- documentation and guidelines.

Donner à voir, permettre d’agir. L’invention de l’interactivité graphique et du concept d’utilisateur en informatique et en télécommunications en France (1961-1990) / Give a view, allow to act. The invention of the graphical interactivity and user concept in computer science and telecommunications France (1961-1990)Thierry, Benjamin G. 10 December 2013 (has links)
In the late 1950s, the computer has no user. Computing has customers, designers and servants, but its use has not resulted in the establishment of a direct relationship between the individual and the machine. It was only during the 1960s that appeared the need to equip the first professionals to use of the processing power of the computer. This appearance is historically situated in the civil aviation adminstration and created the first reflections in ergonomics on the role of interfaces in the understanding and use of the device by the user. The computer then finds the opportunity to accelerate its diffusion. From office automation to microcomputing via telematics wich represents a french way for interactivity, this doctoral thesis aims to explain the birth and the role of graphical user interfaces and user concept in the development of interactive devices in french computing and telecommunications.

Nástroj pro testování komunikace vloženého zařízení pomocí AT příkazů / Software tester of embedded module communication based on AT commandsKondr, Aleš January 2008 (has links)
The graduation thesis deals with AT commands and the implementation of these in modules of wireless communication. These commands are mainly used for the obtaining and setting of different parameters of such modules. A form of the AT commands and a manner in which these are sent to modules are described. For selected wireless modules, there is a set of AT commands determined together with a brief description of the functions of these. A manner of creation of macroblocks for the TeraTerm program is also mentioned; macroblocks are able to establish communication with the module connected and allow for measurement and testing of communication appliances. This is suitable especially for the automation of such a process. As such a system (program) is not widely known, a thorough description of this system is given together with a description of measuring and testing macroblocks. The last part of the thesis deals with the creation of an application enabling the user to control quickly and easily an inserted appliance. A very detailed description of this application is given. Due to an absence of an advanced graphic interface, such an application has not been created by means of a system of macroblocks for the TeraTerm program, but it has been created in the JAVA programming language.
