Psigologies-opvoedkundige ondersoek na kinderheldeverering vir ontoereikende ouers

Moolman, Lindie 02 1900 (has links)
Afrikaans text / In this study, the reasons for the phenomenon of continuous loyalty towards and hero worship of incapable parents are investigated. Case studies with a qualitative and quantitative research paradigm were completed on two adolescents. Media that was used to collect data include: interviews, Kinetic Family Drawing, Sacks Incomplete Sentence Test and the High School Personality Questionnaire. The findings of this study indicate that there are certain factors that are typical traits of incapable parenthood. Adolescents deal with this child-parent relationship through rationalisation and defence. The result is a feeling of inferiority, poor self-image and behavioural patterns that are aimed at satisfying the parents and receiving in turn, positive feedback. This study supplies answers to parents and individuals in the educational-psychological field in understanding the adolescent in such situations. Further research is however necessary to gain information about this phenomenon in order to be able to substantiate the findings. / Further Teacher Education / M. Ed. (Voorligting)

Tragik in Werken Dürrenmatts

Horne, Brigitte Katharina 11 1900
Diese Arbeit versucht am Beispiel einiger dramatischer Werke Durrenmatts zu zeigen, daB der Autor der "Physiker", der "Panne" und anderer Stucke, vor allem des "Besuchs der alten Dame", in weit hoherem MaBe der griechischen Tragodie verpflichtet war, als er erkannte oder zugeben wollte / Friedrich Durrenmatt has described most of his dramas either as comedies or as bitter comedies for he firmly believed that it was not suitable to write tragedies in our modern times. This paper was written to prove with the help of a few examples that the author of "The Physicists", "The Puncture" and others especially "The Visit" - was more bound to the classical Greek form of tragedy than he recognized or admitted / Linguistics and Modern Languages / M.A. (German)

A Wonder Whose Origin is not Known: The Importance of the Orphan Hero in Otherworldly Film

Callahan, Sarah Francis 05 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the importance of the orphan hero in film and his resonance with the American people. It explores the orphan and the American identities, the archetypes found in myths, and the hero in American culture. The three heroes (Batman, Anakin Skywalker, and Harry Potter) represent certain aspects of orphan heroes: the capacity for sacrifice and the need to resist focusing on oneself. The type of hero each becomes has its source in the response he takes to his orphanhood. These young men suffered great loss early in their lives, but found the strength to sacrifice themselves for others, the ultimate sign of a hero.

Imperfect flâneurs : anti-heroes of modern life

Ng, Simon Yiu-Tsan 08 1900 (has links)
This dissertation begins with a simple question in response to “the perfect flâneur” model that Baudelaire elaborated in his 1853 essay “The Painter of Modern Life”: can a flâneur be imperfect? I suggest three possible inferences behind the word “imperfect.” First, it should liberate the flâneur from the strict context of nineteenth-century Paris, and allows for imperfect translations of the figure into other urban contexts. Second, the flâneur also strolls in the “imperfect” dimension of fictional imagination, a dimension comparable to the anamorphic skull in Holbein’s painting The Ambassadors. Third, in the grammatical meaning of imperfect verb tenses, “imperfect flâneur” can also refer to the anti-heroic figure of the living, whose existence remains incomplete and mundane as in the phrase “it was.” All three implications contribute to the reinterpretation of the flâneur in late twentieth-century contexts. My premise is that to experience the city as a flâneur, or to make flânerie possible in the city, one should concede being imperfect, anticipate imperfections, and come to terms with them. Four in-depth studies of contemporary novels and their respective cities constitute the main chapters. Chapter One reads Robert Majzels’s City of Forgetting and Montreal. I examine the ways in which homeless characters could be said to occupy – or, fail to occupy – contemporary Montreal from their dislodged position. Chapter Two focuses on Rohinton Mistry’s A Fine Balance and Bombay. My reading evolves around the question of hospitality in relation to the accommodation and un-accommodation of strangers in the city. Chapter Three brings us to XiXi’s Feituzhen series and Hong Kong: I address the special method of hopscotching as a unique form of imperfect flânerie in XiXi’s works. In Chapter Four, I study Orhan Pamuk’s The Black Book and Istanbul. Inspired by Edward Said’s notions of beginning, I frame my argument with the enquiry: how and when does a narrative begin? In lieu of Conclusion, I imagined a conversation between the writing subject of this dissertation and the imperfect flâneurs featured in each chapter.

Imaginář Limy v románu Maria Vargase Llosy Město a psi (La ciudad y los perros) / Lima's imagery in the novel The time of the hero of Mario Vargas Llosa

Tomášková, Anna January 2013 (has links)
(in English): The objective of this diploma thesis is to show the way of Mario Vargas Llosa's literary vision and his interpretation of Lima in the novel The Time of the Hero. My aim is also to express the particularity and distinctiveness of the imagery of Lima in the novel. In the beginning, I mention the most important facts of history of the city, specifically the 50's and the 60's of the 20th century, which are the decades of the novel's formation and publication. This part is based on the book of essays Lima la horrible of Sebastián Salazar Bondy in which the author describes the world of the Lima's population in this period. I also introduce briefly evolution of the image of the city in the Peruvian literature. This part is based, besides others, on the essay "Lima, ciudad sin novella" of Julio Ramón Ribeyro. In the main part of my thesis I mention the storyline of the novel. After that, I focus my attention on the structure of the novel The Time of the Hero, which is characterized by alternation of narrative spaces and tenses. This aspect helps to make the story uncertain. I also describe the formal side of the novel, primarily the arrangement of the main chapters and their smaller parts which are symmetricaly ordered according to the concerned topic, place or time. I present the main two...

Le mélodrame de l'incompréhension dans le cinéma de Raj Kapoor (1924-1988), Inde / The Melodrama of Incomprehension in Raj Kapoor's Cinema (1924-1988), India

Séguineau de Préval, Jitka 26 September 2017 (has links)
Among Bombay’s directors, producers and actors, Raj Kapoor (1924-1988) is certainly one of the best known and most original both for his work and for his personality. His vast filmography which constitutes a collection of some of the most beautiful melodramas of Hindi popular cinema remains virtually unknown in France. Close to the people, these melodramas reveal a theme which is universally present, illustrated in a variety of situations and different lights. It is the phenomenon of incomprehension. The present work, inspired by a reading of Peter Brooks and Stanley Cavell on the subject of melodrama, aims to show that Kapoor’s melodramas treat this specific theme which unites them and allows them to be defined as a distinct cinematic genre here termed "melodrama of incomprehension." The feeling of inability to understand or of being misunderstood which haunts these melodramas is gleaned not only from aesthetic, historical, political and cultural subjects but also from personal experience.Drawing on the aesthetics of melodrama, Kapoor multiplies the metaphorical presence of the blind hero illustrating the overwhelming difficulty of communication, and blames society for a lack of understanding. Extending the resulting suffering to a wider context, Kapoor’s melodrama transcends the bounds of individual drama, reaching out to the level of the people as a whole, indeed to the entire nation according to some authors. To amplify the phenomenon of incomprehension, his melodrama uses misunderstanding, scorn, ignorance, confusion, illusion, and more. Kapoor does this to a point at which these difficulties of communication clearly represent identifiable structural elements in his portrayal of incomprehension imbued with melancholy and sadness.

A alquimia do \"adultescer\": a literatura para juventude como rito de passagem / The alchemy of adulting: literature for youngsters as rite of passage

Bardari, Sersi 15 August 2008 (has links)
Placed within the field of Comparative Studies on Literature Written in Portuguese, this work has studied how youth literature can represent the passage from adolescence to adulthood, considering the contribution that literary texts may give to the formative process of a youths subjectivity, be it through realism or symbolism. Regarding its theoretical background, the research relies on the ideas of several authors from the field of Developmental Psychology, both those whose works concentrated on investigating the ego, and those who took a further step towards theorizing on the self and the individuation process. For the purpose of demonstrating how the myth of the hero serves as narrative structure to the process of adulting, a comparative study has been undertaken between O relógio do mundo, by the Brazilian author Lino de Albergaria, and Aventuras de João Sem Medo: panfleto mágico em forma de romance, a classic work from Portuguese literature by José Gomes Ferreira. Such works, built upon invariable elements of the marvelous structure, reveal that reaching maturity, in terms of its psychic nature, is a universal and timeless process, nonetheless, the way it is expressed in the world is directly connected to the culture of each specific time and place.

The temporal construction of the fable is composed using testimonial data of his contemporaries based on actual historical and cultural structures, organized in narrative sequence by chronotopic nuclei consonant with Mikhail Bakhtin s chronotopic theory. These chronotopes reveal the thematic plot generating centers, and the relations of place and time by means of logical variations put at the disposal of the unification of meaningful answers between the author and his character. In the building process of the fabular system, in both novels, epiphany participates in the dramatic action work together with the temporal and spacial nuclei. The epiphanic revelation offers to the reader the apprehension of the illusion of social and humanistic truth of this reality through the narration of the mythical hero s journey emerging from Ricardo s outside to his inside world, through meaning equivalents which reveal epiphanic moments. Both novels by José Lins do Rego are impregnated with the reading intersection of temporal chronotopic logic together with the epiphanic space relationship, and, to achieve this purpose, the author makes use of changes in the structural functions at the beginning of a new epics being formed in the black hero moleque Ricardo consciousness / Os romances O moleque Ricardo (1935) e Usina (1936), escritos por José Lins do Rego (1901 1957), relatam a história da trajetória de formação da personagem moleque Ricardo, caracterizada no contexto da sociedade nordestina patriarcal e pós-escravagista brasileira da década de 1920.

Ferreto, Alcina Aparecida Molina 28 June 2007 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T19:59:04Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Alcina Aparecida Molina Ferreto.pdf: 423545 bytes, checksum: c1ca1b1ac49c4b9e8ca47f860f9dd8ad (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-06-28 / The purpose of this dissertation is to analyze the parody on the novel O Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo by José Saramago. We pretend to establish a comparison between Jesus from the gospel s tests and Jesus made by Saramago, emphasizing the through test speech, which is used as a basis for dialog mechanisms, responsible for the critic-metalanguage-ironic of saramagy writing. The objective of this work is to make a reading of Jesus made by Saramago, trying to define the main difference between him and his gospel homonym. From all this mentioned above, we will demonstrate that the saramagy hero is a recreation of his model basis more human, which is the result from reading with criticism and irony of the biblike narrative again: the new character denies the values that characterize the Bible used to make this parody. This profaned version of Christ configurates as a twisted and uncharacterized image of this gospel character, imposing like a new model as much as from the human being as from the divine / A proposta desta dissertação é analisar o discurso paródico no romance O Evangelho Segundo Jesus Cristo, de José Saramago.
