Ställ upp på led! : En vetenskaplig essä om individens subjektifieringsprocess i fritidshemmets gruppbaserade struktur

Hansson, Jenny January 2018 (has links)
This scientific essay is based on a self experienced situation from my work in after-school activities. Suddenly I find myself in a situation that is not thought through were the only goal is to transfer the students in the school area. I am asking them to stand in line to go to the lunch cafeteria. An obstacle occurs when the students fail or refuses to stand in line, which demands me to reflect over what just has happened. Through this I am stimulated to increase my understanding of the situation. The purpose of this essay is to investigate effects in the initially unreflected structure which is being used in afterschool activities. The standing in line is here used as a representation of that group-based structure. My three main focus areas for this research is learning, power and the tension between individuals and a group. To illustrate the effects in afterschool group-based structure I have chosen a hermeneutic writing. Foucault enriches my knowledge on the complexity of power perspectives that is being revealed in the situation. Through Asap Bartholdsson I am introduced to the concept of ”friendly power” (my translation). With the support of Gert Biestas ́s theories about ”qualification, socialization and subjectification”. I investigate the learning which is not immediately visible. Broadys view on the hidden curriculum shows me a new perspective on the structure and education in after-school activities as normative learning. By the analysis of the tension between individuals and the group I have made visible that the seeing made by the teacher has a big role to play. Also it has become clear that the students individuality and integrity sometimes has to take a step back in favour of the group and vice versa. But if this interaction is balanced it has an enriching effect on both perspectives.

Tezza, Renata Izabel Dozzi. January 2008 (has links)
Abstract: With the complete genome sequencing of the phytopathogen Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Citri (Xac), in 2002, several study possibilities were made practical and then creating the search of new citrus canker control ways, based in molecular aims. This kind of studies has shown the genes existences that are only expressed when the bacteria are developing itself in plant. It has been known that this regulation is promoter region dependent and its identification can allow significant advances in the search of this disease control. Although increasing advance of in vitro experimental techniques in molecular biology, identifying a meaningful number of promoters is still a hard and expensive task. The existents computer science methods face the need of a proper number of known promoters to identify conserved patterns among the species. Therefore, a method to predict them in any prokaryote organism is still a challenge. The Hidden Markov Model (HMM) is a statistic model applicable in many tasks in molecular biology. Among them, prediction and mapping of the promoters sequences in prokaryotic genome. In this work, which has studied the genic promoters in silico mapping of the whole Xac genome, in 68% of the genes the promoter localization was indicated. The proteomic experimental data comparative analysis showed that 72% of the expressed proteins identified with elements from the promoters list, which corresponds 27% of the genome genes total. According to these data it was possible to generate an information roll about these promoters candidates inciting new molecular studies. / Orientadora: Maria Inês Tiraboschi Ferro / Coorientador: Marcelo Luiz de Laia / Banca: Manoel Victor Franco Lemos / Banca: Poliana Fernanda Giachetto / Mestre

Towards completely automatized HTML form discovery on the web

Moraes, Maurício Coutinho January 2013 (has links)
The forms discovered by our proposal can be directly used as training data by some form classifiers. Our experimental validation used thousands of real Web forms, divided into six domains, including a representative subset of the publicly available DeepPeep form base (DEEPPEEP, 2010; DEEPPEEP REPOSITORY, 2011). Our results show that it is feasible to mitigate the demanding manual work required by two cutting-edge form classifiers (i.e., GFC and DSFC (BARBOSA; FREIRE, 2007a)), at the cost of a relatively small loss in effectiveness.

Detecção visual de atividade de voz com base na movimentação labial / Visual voice activity detection using as information the lips motion

Lopes, Carlos Bruno Oliveira January 2013 (has links)
Lips motion are relevant visual feature for detecting the voice active of speaker and speech recognition. When the lips are moving, they carries an idea of occurrence of dialogues (talk) or periods of speeches to the watcher, whereas the periods of silences may be represented by the absence of lips motion (mouth closed). Based on this idea, this work focus efforts to obtain the lips motion as features and to perform visual voice activity detection. First, the algorithm performs skin segmentation and face detection to reduce the search area for lip extraction, and the most likely lip regions are computed using a Bayesian approach within the delimited area. Then, the pre-segmentation of the lips is obtained by thresholding the calculated probability region. After, it is localized the mouth region by resulted obtained in pre-segmentation of the lips, i.e., some nonlips pixels detected are eliminated, and it are applied a simple morphological operators to include some lips pixels and non-lips around the mouth. Thus, a new segmentation of lips is performed over mouth region after transformation of color to enhance the region to be segmented. And, is applied the closing of gaps internal of lips segmented. Finally, the temporal motion of the lips is explored using Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) to detect the likely occurrence of active speech within a temporal window.

Since these forms are built for human manipulation and have big variability and diversity of domains and languages. The challenge is to select the correct values to fill the form fields, with a few number of submissions that reach good coverage of the database behind the form. Several works proposed methods to search the hidden Web. Most of these works present big limitations for an application that surfaces the entire Web in a horizontal and automatic way. The main limitations are the dependency of prior information about the form domains, the non-treatment of the all form field types and the correct selection of a subgroup of the set of all form filling possibilities. The prune of many possible queries is feasible as the submissions are made and the knowledge about the form is obtained. The Theatrical Ties that Bind: An Examination of the Hidden Curriculum of Theatre Education

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: Examining the elements of the hidden curriculum in theatre education allows theatre educators the opportunity to reflect on their own pedagogy and its effects on the learner. The hidden curriculum refers to the unspoken or implicit values, norms, and beliefs that are transmitted through tacit messages. When the hidden curriculum remains veiled, the impact on the learner's education and socialization process can perpetuate gender, race, and class inequalities. In order to understand how the hidden curriculum manifests itself in theatre classrooms, we have to look at schools as "agents of legitimation, organized to produce and reproduce the dominant categories, values, and social relationships necessary for the maintenance of the larger society" (Giroux, 1983, p. 72). This qualitative study examined the hidden curriculum in theatre at the secondary level and looked at theatre teachers' pedagogy in reproducing elements of the hidden curriculum. Interviews, naturalistic observation, and a researcher reflective journal were employed in the data collection process to better understand: a) the elements of hidden curriculum that appear in theatre education at the secondary level, b) how the pedagogical practices of theatre teachers support societal structures, and c) how the hidden curriculum in theatre reinforces gender, race, and social class distinctions. Data were then coded and analyzed to find emergent themes. Multiple theoretical perspectives serve as a conceptual framework for understanding the hidden curriculum, and provide a neglected perspective of the hidden curriculum in theatre education. The theatre classroom provides a unique space to view hidden curriculum and can be viewed as a unique agent of social change. Themes related to the first research question emerged as: a) privileges for older students, b) school rules, c) respect for authority, d) acceptance of repetitive tasks, and c) punctuality. Themes related to the second research question emerged as: a) practices, b) procedures, c) rules, d) relationships, and e) structures. Finally, themes related to the third question emerged as: a) reinforcement of social inequality, b) perpetuation of class structure, and c) acceptance of social destiny. The discussion looks at the functions of theatre pedagogy in the reproduction of class, inequality, and institutionalized cultural norms. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Curriculum and Instruction 2013

Visually Understanding School Grounds: Schooling At Its Intersections with Community And Social Status

January 2014 (has links)
abstract: Human experience exists within space; it is the studio for the stories of our lives. Bounded by time, location and personal experience we assign our own meanings and feelings to them, and they become personal, symbolic places: some are unique to us, imagined places where we act out stories or dreams; most are part of the natural world. Most spaces, though, are built or controlled by others; these constructed environments can become places where we may, or may not, like to be. This research examined spaces and places of children's lives through the material worlds of their neighborhoods and schools, focusing on the visible environment outside of the school building. The intersection of school and community, it is a material embodiment of, and evidence toward, how a community's resources are apportioned to important aspects of children's developmental years. These visible representations speak of that society's values and goals for the children for whom they (we) are responsible. This examination used multiple research tools, primarily using visual approaches such as current photographs, archival images and data, descriptive census materials and maps. Historical documents, (many of which are now digitized), as well as other academic literature, local journalistic efforts and school district publications added important materials for analysis. Findings lead to deeper understanding of ways that visible, material worlds of schools and neighborhoods -- past and present - can reflect, and direct the experiences of childhood today, and often mirror those of children past. These visual and narrative approaches contributed to understanding the importance of material evidence in revealing inequity and class differences in ways that children, then, must &ldquodo school &rdquo / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Educational Psychology 2014
