Public Hear Aid

Norberg, Johan, Johansson, Johan January 2008 (has links)
<p>This project started when LIC Audio AB wanted help with development of a hearing aid for public rooms. The problem is that a lot of people suffer from some sort of hearing impairment. In places with a lot of people and background noise the problem becomes bigger and the sound seems to flow together. </p><p>During the project we found the solution for the problem in the shape of a headphone. The headphone receives a signal from a preinstalled hearing loop. The hearing loop exists in most public rooms and after the receiver got the signal an amplifier increases the sound to wished strength by the user. The headphone is easy to use and only got one regulator to control both sound level and on/off. To ease the usage we developed a charging stand and a charging list to hang the headphones after usage. When doing this you can ensure to always have power left in the headphones. </p><p> The project resulted in a working prototype of the headphones showing the thought of the project. We have also made models of the charging stand and charging list.</p>

Focusing the Senses

Eddy, Raymond Greg 03 June 2004 (has links)
This thesis studies increasing awareness of the connectedness of the body to architecture. The objective is to explore and investigate the levels of attention required by each sense to summon the corporeal nature of the observers, to call us to a quietness of mind, transcending our western pace and creating awareness that leads our bodies and mind toward a unified perception of place. / Master of Architecture

Kurčiųjų ir neprigirdinčiųjų savarankiškumo ugdymas technologijų pamokose / Development of the independency of the pupils with hearing impairments during the lessons of technologies

Kovzan, Daiva 05 June 2006 (has links)
Each live organism is made to adapt to the constantly changing environment. The success of child’s integration into society, his conduct in society depends on the family and school. Frequently, excessive care by their parents prevents a disabled child from developing independency skills. One of the most important tasks for the school is to prepare an individual for independent life and seek his integration into society. The issue of developing independency of a disabled individual has not been studied in detailed yet. The object of this study is independency of the pupils with hearing impairments. The paper contains an analysis of the reference sources and findings of the study, which disclose the peculiarities of developing independency of the deaf and hard of hearing pupils during technology classes. The respondents were surveyed by test-interview methods and the data obtained were processed with the help of SPSS software. When summarizing the academic, professional and methodical literature, a model of the pupils’ independency was drafted by dividing independency into three groups of its manifestation (inquisitiveness, initiative and organization skills) and by defining technological skills by three types of skills ( planning, information collection and use, technology activities). Analysis of individual programs revealed that the teachers of technologies devote attention to the development of the pupils’ independency at the schools for deaf and heard to hear students... Comparing a Hear-Say and See-Say Teaching Procedures during Verbal Behavior Instruction

Borquez, Nicholas Paul 12 1900 (has links)
Establishing effective language intervention for those who struggle to acquire it early on has received significant attention from researchers within the field of behavior analysis. The procedures of the present study were adapted from Spurgin' thesis research from 2021, in which a stimulus specific consequence was used during teaching after participants made correct responses. In this case, the stimulus specific consequence was a label for a picture that participants were required to point to during teaching trials. When participants pointed to the correct card, the researcher would label the card and deliver a small wooden block which the participants were told they were working for. In the hear-say procedures, participants were taught one set of cards and instructed to echo the researchers' labels. In the see-say participants were taught a second set of cards and instructed to "beat' the researcher to saying the word. After all cards were taught, were tested with a non-vocal receptive identification test. Immediately following this, participants were tested with a vocal expressive identification test. An extended teaching was included to determine the effects of additional practice within each condition. Results indicated that the participants were able to require some receptive and expressive language but targets often did not correspond. In many instances, receptive mastery did not necessarily lead to expressive mastery or vice versa. Results also indicated that additional practice improved receptive scores but had little impact on expressive scores. Implication for teaching learners with autism as well as typical adults is discussed.

It is proposed that the spirituality of the First Testament, and is summed up in hearing and living from the Word. It is concluded that this practice is present in the prophetism, in its fruits, or important effects during the mission. The reference for this research is the Third Song of the Suffering Servant, which is in the Second Isaiah, and expresses the prophet's mission to the exiled people. By listening daily to the Word of God, it brings comfort and hope to this situation of oppression. For this, the analysis of the text with its textual, literary, historical, editorial and current critical context is carried out in this research. It follows the context of the time of Second Isaiah in the Babylonian Exile. It ends with the application of this pericope for today when we see the effects of hearing the Word. The Servant is faithful even in the midst of suffering and experiences the effects of the Word of God thus becoming a parameter for those who announce it today.

The Effects of Tests and Praise on Children's Hear-write and See-say Responses.

Edwards, Bobbie 12 1900 (has links)
Four elementary school children were tested on 120 words containing the short e (e.g., ten, pen) and short a (e.g., tan, pan) sounds. Words were tested in the hear-write (H/W) and see-say (S/S) channels. No programmed consequences were scheduled during baseline (BL) tests 1-3. After BL, an error analysis categorized words based on channel error and topography of error. Praise was delivered during tests 4-6 for correct responses. Children's responses were variable within channel and across channels for a majority of words. By the end of the praise phase, there was a decrease in the number of words with errors, for all children in their error word group. Error topographies began to stabilize for some words during praise.

We chose twelve subjects, six metallurgic workers and six musicians of rock and roll. Method: Interviews. We utilized as method Content´s Analysis by Bardin (2004). Results: we have the categories: definition of the hearing, loss, protection of the hearing and pleasurable and unpleasurable sounds. The importance of the hearing is present in every category. Metallurgic workers and musicians, attribute high value to the hearing and its preservation. The access to the information do not implicate a distinguished way to attribute importance to the hearing and its preservation, on the contrary shows that the information given, sometimes, do not goes by chance to their reality and questions, is a simple transference of data and do not become knowledge. The musicians have the access of the information and the professional dependence that they present related to the hearing, also make that they attribute a great value to it, in the mean time, the need of a good performance on their presentations seems to be one of the most important factors to the non use of the hearing protection on those moments. Considerations: This directed us to a most humanist view, where is need to valorize a psychosocial reality and to know the subjects doubts, for that, going by chance to their truly wishes, they could be affected to the information, allowing the reflection, the knowledge and stimulate the act of having an idea about / Objetivo: Conhecer a importância que metalúrgicos e músicos atribuem à audição e sua preservação e observar se o acesso à informação implica uma maneira distinta de atribuir importância a elas.
