Lillhage, Henrik, Krönström, Mattias January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study has been to examine how mature eight Swedish companies are in regards of IT- and agile maturity. Furthermore, how they can improve upon their IT- and agile maturity. The research objects of this study has been eight different organizations who all hired the same IT-consultancy. Information has been gathered through semi-structured interviews with respondents from each organization. The interviews were built upon a theoretical framework consisting of Ragowsky et al. (2012) IT-maturity model and Sidky et al. (2007) Agile Measurement Index (SAMI). We have attempted to combine the models into a matrix model that takes both types of maturity into account. The results have shown a greater level of IT-maturity than expected. Agile maturity on the other hand have been a contributing factor to failures in some of the projects. Although we have found that being mature in only one of the factors has been unusual. In conclusion, the organizations in our sample have shown high IT-maturity so the next challenge for Swedish organizations seems to be to acquire greater agile maturity.

Investigating the Relationship between Governance Mechanisms and the Disclosure of IT Control Weaknesses

Hamdan, Basil 01 January 2011 (has links)
The current research is concerned with exploring the quality of information technology (IT) control over financial reporting systems as reported under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. More specifically, this dissertation examines the association between organizational governance mechanisms and the occurrence and subsequent disclosure of IT control weaknesses. Despite the adverse impact of IT control weaknesses on internal control quality and financial reporting reliability, research on IT controls in general and IT control weaknesses in particular remains largely anecdotal with limited reliance on theory. The current work proposes and tests an integrated theoretical model of the antecedents of IT control weaknesses. The proposed model draws upon agency theory to provide a theoretical perspective of the occurrence of IT control weaknesses and upon corporate governance literature to solicit potential factors that influence the achievement of effective IT control over financial reporting. Drawing upon agency theory, this research views the existence of IT control weaknesses as a manifestation of an agency problem caused by information asymmetry and lack of alignment between the overall organization represented by its board of directors as a principal and its information systems (IS) organization represented by the top IS team as an agent. Drawing on corporate governance literature, this dissertation proposes two categories of governance and contracting mechanisms that the board of directors can employ to reduce information asymmetry and align the interests of the top IS team with those of the firm thereby reducing the agency problem. These categories are: IT governance mechanisms and IT executive incentive alignment mechanisms. The IT governance mechanisms involve two elements: first, the IT background element which includes (a) the IT background of the board of directors as reflected by two of its main committees, namely the corporate governance committee and the audit committee and (b) the IT background of the top management team; second, the IT executive element as reflected in terms of the structural and the expert power of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). The IT executive incentive alignment mechanisms include two elements: (a) the CIO’s absolute compensation level and (b) the pay disparity between the CIO and other members of the top management team. A research model integrating these elements is developed and tested with empirical data. For testing the proposed model, this dissertation uses a sample of firms with IT control weaknesses and a control group of similar firms with no IT control weaknesses for the years 2005-2009. Empirical results provide support for five of the seven hypotheses put forth in this research. Regarding the IT governance mechanisms, study findings indicate that a lower likelihood of disclosing IT-related control weaknesses is associated with having audit committee and corporate governance committee members with IT expertise. Furthermore, the study findings provide support for the contention that the goal congruence is contingent on the CIO’s power. To this end, the study finds that a lower likelihood of disclosing IT-related control weaknesses is associated with having CIOs with higher levels of structural and expert power. As for the incentive alignment mechanisms, empirical results provide support for the assertion that goal congruence is contingent on perceived pay equality between the CIO and other members of the top management team. The results indicate that the lower the pay disparity between IT executives and business executives in the top management team, the lower the likelihood of disclosing IT control weaknesses. The present study contributes to the current body of knowledge of literature in several ways. It is the first study to propose and test an integrated model of the antecedents of IT control weaknesses. The proposed model adds to the current literature by introducing agency theory as a theoretical basis of the antecedents of IT control weaknesses. Furthermore, this study adds to the current literature by introducing and providing empirical evidence linking the IT background of the corporate governance committee, the structural power and expert power of the CIO, and the CIO relative pay to the disclosure of IT control weaknesses over financial reporting. Lastly, this research contributes to practice by offering a much needed understanding for managers, directors, auditors, and regulators in their effort to improve the quality of IT control and the reliability of financial reporting.

Le management responsable des technologies de l'information (MRTI) : entre approches ethique et institutionnelle / Responsible management of information technology (RMIT) : Management of Information Technology (MIT) : Normative? instrumental? or institutional motivations?

Ait-Daoud, Sanaa 29 November 2012 (has links)
This research focuses on the analysis of the motivations and practices of Responsible Management of Information Technology (RMIT). Our first goal is to understand how Sustainable Development (SD) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are reflected in Information Systems (IS). The second objective is to understand the motivations of establishing a RMIT. The answer for these objectives is built by combining empirical and theoretical approaches. In so doing, an original analysis frame of ethical and institutional motivations for RMIT is developed and verified. The analysis of the results, at various levels of the research, has to offer (1) a Green IT typology, (2) a RMIT life cycle proposal and (3) a typology of organization strategies (active, pro-active, reactive and retrospective) facing environmental pressures.

Morotens väg till motivation : En flerfallsstudie om belöningssystem i IT-företag / The carrots way to motivation : A multivariate study of reward systems in the IT business

Gustafsson, Alexandra, Langmoen, Minda, Tamme, Amanda January 2017 (has links)

Adoption process of information technology (IT) innovations in organizations

Abdul Hameed, Mumtaz January 2012 (has links)
Several models have been developed for understanding and predicting innovation adoption in organizations and literature has identified several factors that impact the adoption and implementation of Information Technology (IT). This research examines the process of adoption of IT innovations in organizations. The study explores the processes involved in the adoption of IT and verifies the key factors that influence IT innovation adoption in organizations. Using a systematic literature review, the study developed a conceptual model of IT innovation adoption in organizations. The model is a theoretical combination of Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory, Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and a framework which contains characteristics of innovation, organization, environment, chief executive officer (CEO) and user acceptance. The model represents IT innovation adoption as a stage-based process, progressing from initiation to adoption-decision to implementation. The study aggregated findings of past research on IT adoption to identify key factors that influences IT adoption in organizations. The study performed a meta-analysis of innovation, organization, environment, CEOs and user acceptance determinants to assess the magnitude and the strength of these factors on IT innovation adoption. Results confirmed that relative advantage, compatibility, cost, observability and trialability are strong determinants of IT innovation adoption. In terms of organizational context, IS department size, top management support, organizational size, IT expertise, product champion, IS infrastructure, information intensity, resources and specialization was found influential in the adoption of IT. As for environmental characteristics, the meta-analysis verified the significance of external pressure, government support and competitive pressure. Meta-analysis results verified that CEO‟s innovativeness, attitude and IT knowledge as key determinants. The findings confirmed the importance of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, subjective norm and facilitating conditions for the user acceptance of IT in organizations.

Evaluation of Semantic Applications for Enterprises / Hodnocení sémantických aplikací pro podnikové prostředí

Nekvasil, Marek January 2010 (has links)
Broader and broader areas of application deployment are covered by semantic technologies recently and in the meantime their scope is increasing constantly. The possibilities of semantic applications are now so vast that they cannot be judged as a single market segment any more. The business skepticism that arises due to the uncertainty of investments in such technologies is only augmented by these differences and picking up on that this thesis concentrates on the aspects that can enable and evaluate not only the economic efficiency of engaging the semantic technologies in a business environment but also the effectiveness of doing so. This work concentrates on the ways of how to prove the differences amongst semantic applications, define their distinct segments based on use-case, and subsequently identify their Critical Success Factors and evaluate them against the real conditions of the applications' deployment with the participation of people involved in their development. Following the results of these interactions this thesis presents an innovative approach that enables to construct models for judging the maturity of enterprises for the deployment of the respective applications including the actual construction of these models for all the identified applications' use-cases segments. Moreover, in a later part of the work the evaluation using these models is demonstrated on AQUA application (outcome of a project the author did personally partake in) along with sketching additional specifics that may help the timely assessment of semantics in certain cases. The results presented in later chapters are supported by the underlying background researches in the fields of Semantic Technologies and IT assessment both of whose state-of-the-art methods are described here. Usability of the current standardized methods (such as those used in COBIT) for assessing semantic applications is also considered with respect to the lack of other best practices in business deployment of semantics.

A Digital Tool to Improve the Efficiency of IT Forensic Investigations / Translation not available

Hansen, Tone January 2019 (has links)
The IT forensic process causing bottlenecks in investigations is an identified issue, with multiple underlying causes – one of the main causes being the lack of expertise among those responsible for ordering IT forensic investigations. The focus of the study is to create and evaluate a potential solution for this problem, aiming to answer research questions related to a suitable architecture, structure and design of a digital tool that would assist individuals in creating IT forensic orders. This work evaluates concepts of such a digital tool. This is done using a grounded theory approach, where a series of test sessions together with the answers from a survey have been examined and analyzed in an iterative process. A low-fidelity prototype is used in the process. The resulting conclusion of the study is a set of concepts, ideas and principles for a digital tool that would aid in the IT forensic ordering process, as well improving the efficiency of the IT forensic process itself. Future work could involve developing the concept further to eventually become a finished product, or using it for improving already existing systems and tools, improving the efficiency and quality of the IT forensic process.

IT et la question de la référence / IT and the question of reference

Mathurin, Elise 23 November 2018 (has links)
This thesis in English linguistics studies all the uses of IT, whether referential or non-referential. Firstly, this work tries to define the concept of reference as precisely as possible. The status of IT as a "pronoun" is also analysed. Moreover, all the uses of IT (anaphoric, cataphoric, deictic, non-referential, etc.) are analysed in a wide variety of sentences (subject and object extraposition, it-cleft, left and right dislocation, idioms, advertising slogans, etc.) This thesis claims that the referential status of IT cannot simply be divided in two categories : referential or non-referential. On the contrary, it seems that reference can be calculated on a continuum or scale from strongly referential to weakly referential.

Estudo de síntese de silicato de lantânio tipo apatita pelo método sol-gel seguido de precipitação de Na2SiO3 / Synthesis study of lanthanum silicate apatite type by sol-gel method followed by precipitation from Na2SiO3

Silva, Fernando dos Santos 01 December 2016 (has links)
Lanthanum silicate apatite-type ceramics have been studied because of the great technological interest for IT-SOFC applications as electrolyte (Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cell). Ionic conductivity of those ceramics at intermediate temperatures (600-800°C) is higher than that of YSZ (Ytria Stabilized Zirconia) electrolyte used at high-temperatures (800-1000 °C) SOFCs. In this work, lanthanum silicate apatite-type was synthesized by sol-gel method followed by precipitation from Na2SiO3 as a source of silica. In the proposed method, synthesis routes in acid and basic medium to the formation of silica gel, followed by precipitation were studied. Apatite crystalline phase of lanthanum silicate ceramic was obtained by calcining the powders at 900°C. This temperature is much lower than those other conventional methods of synthesis. Analysis by x-ray diffraction (XRD) showed the lanthanum silicate apatite-type phase as the main phase of the synthesized material at the pH acid synthesis route. However, undesirable secondary phase, La2Si2O7, was recognized when the powder was calcined at 1200°C. On the other hand, by the basic route, single apatite-type phase powder was obtained after thermal treatment of the precursors at 900 and 1200°C. Ceramic pellet obtained from those powders sintered at 1400°C for 4h, presented pure apatite crystalline phase of lanthanum silicate. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe morphology of powders and microstructure of sintered pellets. Sub micrometric size powders and apatite typical microstructure ceramic were reached by the suggested method.
