Hämäläinen, Thomas, Strömberg, Hillevi January 2016 (has links)
Information system development projecs are often considered a costly and uncertain process were projects often exceed the scheduled time and budget. By continuously integrating source code and do regular builds problems can be discovered almost directly and thus minimizing the cost to fix them. In this qualitative study we have focused on which challenges a large public organization who cooperate with an external provider can face when adopting continuous integration and continuous delivery. We have interviewed six employees within the organisation and two employees from the external provider, who are all in some way connected to the software development process. The results showed that our interviewees are interested in agile software development and to be able to deliver high quality software continuously. We also found that the software development process is complex and has a lot of barriers and handovers that slows the process down. Our conclusion is that the organization needs to change their approach to software development. To achieve this the organisation needs to adopt Devops, which means erasing the barriers between development and operations.

Bridging the integration gap : The relationship between women's employment, childcare costs and integration policies

Ahlroos Källhed, Ivar January 2016 (has links)
There is an unexplained gap in employment between native-born and foreign-born women in most European countries and it is not evident how it can be closed. This essay studies some possible explanations of the gap by looking at the effect of childcare costs and integration policies, through regression analysis. The individual effects are not significant, but the results do however give some indication that the degree of integration policies in a country can change the effect of welfare policies such as childcare.

Krasniqi, Besfort, Dubicanac, Edo January 2016 (has links)

Design methodology for low power 3D-integrated image sensing system for network based applications

Lie, Denny 27 May 2016 (has links)
This dissertation investigates a methodology that can be used to design and optimize an energy efficient 3D-integrated image sensing and compression system for network based applications. A system level model that evaluates the effect of design choices and external environmental factors to the power/performance of the system is presented. Three design principles are considered in formulating the system model. First, a multi-segment/multi-core image compression approach is presented as a combined solution with 3D-stacking to reduce the workload of the compression module, effectively increasing power efficiency of the system. Second, vertical stacking reduces the rate of heat removal from the compression module and ADC resulting in higher temperature and noise in the photodiode tier. Therefore, due to the die-to-die thermal coupling, image quality is strongly influenced by image throughput, architectural, and external environment factors. Third, heterogeneous integration of the photosensor module and compression engine is presented as a method to increase power efficiency of the system. Scaling the compression engine to deep sub-micron technology provides substantial power and chip area benefits, while CMOS image sensor retains reliability with less advanced 180nm process. The dissertation concludes that 3D heterogeneous integration can increase power/performance efficiency of an image sensor system, but die-to-die thermal coupling may provide challenges in managing the quality of the compressed images.

Wahlström, Elin, Ivarsson, Annika January 2015 (has links)

Developmental and cultural factors of audiovisual speech perception in noise

Reetzke, Rachel Denise 16 September 2014 (has links)
The aim of this project is two-fold: 1) to investigate developmental differences in intelligibility gains from visual cues in speech perception-in-noise, and 2) to examine how different types of maskers modulate visual enhancement across age groups. A secondary aim of this project is to investigate whether or not bilingualism differentially modulates audiovisual integration during speech in noise tasks. To that end, both child and adult, monolingual and bilingual participants completed speech perception in noise tasks through three within-subject variables: (1) masker type: pink noise or two-talker babble, (2) modality: audio-only (AO) and audiovisual (AV), and (3) Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR): 0 dB, -4 dB, -8 dB, -12 dB, and -16 dB. The findings revealed that, although both children and adults benefited from visual cues in speech-in-noise tasks, adults showed greater benefit at lower SNRs. Moreover, although child monolingual and bilingual participants performed comparably across all conditions, monolingual adults outperformed simultaneous bilingual adult participants. These results may indicate that the divergent use of visual cues in speech perception between bilingual and monolingual speakers occurs later in development. / text

Seismic and sparse data integration through the use of direct sampling

Hampton, Travis Payton 21 October 2014 (has links)
The integration of seismic attributes and well data is an important step in the development of reservoir models. These models draw upon large data sets including information from well logs, production history, seismic interpretation, and depositional models. Modern integration techniques use the extensive data sets to develop precise models using complex workflows at increased cost of time and computational power. However, a gap exists in which a geostatistically driven procedure could integrate pattern statistics inferred from seismic images and those integrated from analogous geologic systems in order to develop spatially accurate reservoir models. Direct Sampling Seismic Integration Process, DSSIP, was first proposed by Henke and Srinivasan (2010) as an alternative to traditional seismic integration methods. The process provides a probabilistic mapping tool for fast reservoir analysis based on sparse conditioning data in a target reservoir and fully interpreted data from an analog field. DSSIP combines the structural information present in seismic data and facies patterns present in a training reservoir to create a fully realized output map for the target field. In this work, the basic DSSIP algorithm has been further optimized by performing a detailed parameter sensitivity study. The basic DSSIP algorithm has been demonstrated for a real field data set for a deepwater Gulf of Mexico reservoir. The basic DSSIP algorithm has also been analyzed to understand and model the effects of features such as salt canopy that can blur the seismic image. Finally, a modification to the basic algorithm is also presented that uses only a training model and the seismic data for the target reservoir in order to generate reservoir models for the target reservoir. This procedure eliminates the requirement to have a matching pair of training data sets for both the facies distribution and the corresponding seismic response. / text
