Ordningsprinciper, informationsbehov och politisk makt : En arkivvetenskaplig fallstudie av arkivförteckningar i det kungliga kansliarkivet cirka 1540–1878 / Principles of Arrangement, Information needs and Political Power : An Archival case study of archival inventories in the Swedish Royal Office archive about 1540–1878

Brandt, Zippy January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this one-year master thesis was to examine the principles of arrangement used by the Swedish Royal Office archive from about 1540-1878, and how the principles of arrangement have corresponded with the information needs of that rules the Swedish Royal Office archive. The following theoretical premises were important: Berndt Fredriksson's empirical archival science, JBLD Strömberg's concepts of archive systems and Randolph C. Head's concepts of mirroring. Two questions have been examined. What connections is there between the major reorganizations of the Swedish Royal Office archive, the process for governance of Sweden / the Royal Office, access to / control over archival documents, information needs, the political situation, and changes in how the archive was arranged and inventoried. What sources of inspiration have those responsible for the reorganizations had regarding the reorganizations? My source material consisted primarily of archival inventories. In this inquiry I have used a case study in which document and literature studies were conducted. During this study I have discovered that several principles of arrangement was in use simultaneously during the examined time period. This suggests either that older ideas regarding inventory labor were present at the same time and influenced the inventory labor or that the "archivist" during this time period had great freedom to choose between different principles of arrangement. Arrangement by geographic location were used during the entire time period. The archival inventories arranged by this principle has evolved from larger descriptions over geographic places to titles in Latin over countries. It also seems likely that the countries of this archival inventories represented Sweden's foreign relations. Mirroring has been detected between the reasons for the reorganizations, major political conflicts internally and externally, changes in the governance process, the user groups of the archive, the information needs and archival inventories. Mirroring has also occurred between the principles of arrangement and information access and needs. There are several available sources of inspiration to the reorganizations and hence the principles of arrangement.

Flytande bostäder i norr : Ett gestaltningsförslag för Hawaiiudden, Lycksele

Karlsson, Viktoria January 2017 (has links)
Migration of humans have always existed and therefore people have changed their standard of living over the years. Because of immigration the lack of residences has always been more or less a problem. The solutions through the decades have been Barnrikehus, Folkhem and Miljonprogrammet. Today people are emigrating from their countries because of conflicts and natural disasters due to the climate changes. This leads to immigration and the population of Sweden is rising. At the same time the need for new residences increases. Recently, in 2016, Boverket came out with a new prognosis that there is a need of 150 000 new residences until year 2025. At the same time the useful areas in bigger cities starts to fade. A new solution is to build floating homes on watermirrors. The aim of this study was to get an understanding if floating homes are a modern solution to the lack of residences or just a small-scale type of living. The conclusions are based on a mapping of planed and performed floating projects in Sweden. Further, there was an aim to find out if floating homes are something for the northern part of Sweden in Lycksele, Västerbotten.   The first part of this study contained a literature study were waterproperties, permanent floating homes and restricted access to the shore was defined.  The second part was a case study were a qualitative study was implemented with interviews of the inhabitants. The selections of inhabitants were based on gener and age. Interviews was also performed with the Building Department and with community planer. Finally, the case study ended up in a proposal with floating homes located on Hawaiiudden, Lycksele. Hawaiiudden was the most appropriate location due to an inventory of 6 watermirrors with different benefits and disadvantages. The proposal was a two storey house with an open design and possibility to affect the number of bedrooms from 2 to 4. The exterior was a discreet and curious architecture inspired from classic  boathouses in the southern part of Sweden but with characteristics from north.  The result of the interviews showed that the inhabitants have an interest in floating homes but many holds back by the fear of waterdamages, risk of children drowning and economical perspectives. Many fears can be reduces by knowledge. When it comes to the location of these homes, almost half thinks that Lycksele is not the right place. It stays a riddle where the hesitant people think these homes should be placed. Summery, you can say that floating homes is something new-thinking and innovative that has not reached all parts of Sweden yet. There is a lot of missing knowledge and the law has some catching up to do. If Sweden in the future will have floating homes as a natural element in detail plans and city planning remains to see.

A study to determine the relationship between interest as measured by a Student interest inventory and recreational nonfiction books checked out of the library media center by intermediate grade students at Sunnyside Elementary School, North Clackamas School District Number 12, Clackamas, Oregon

Leedy, Larry Charles 01 January 1982 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine if a correlation existed between the selection of recreational nonfiction books from a school library media center by elementary school students in grades four through six and the measured interest, as generated by the Student Interest Inventory, of the students. Data for this study was collected during the period September, 1982 and April, 1983 at Sunnyside Elementary School, North Clackamas School District Number 12, Clackamas, Oregon. The raw data for the measured interest and recreational nonfiction books checked out were arranged by Dewey Decimal Classification tens. By using the Pearson product-moment correlation formula a significant coefficient was found and it was concluded that a correlation did exist between measured interest and nonfiction recreational books actually checked out of the library media center.

Natural value assessments – can they predict the species richness of red listed and bioindicator fungi in Fennoscandian coniferous forests?

Samuelsson, Louise January 2017 (has links)
The thesis aims to examine how well two standardised methods in nature conservation, namely natural value assessment and key biotope inventory, perform in terms of recognising an area with a high amount of red listed and bioindicator fungi. The two methods are compared to see if any method is superior to find areas with high presence of red listed and bioindicator fungi and if a larger area automatically means a larger number of species. A natural value assessment inventory is conducted on study sites with a performed key biotope inventory, with an addition of an inventory on fungi. Statistical tests are completed to give information about occurring correlations. The results display that the key biotope inventory and the natural value assessment do not differ in their evaluations of an area. Analysis also shows that there is no relationship between the forest sites area and the assessment performed by the natural value assessment. However, if the assessment is performed by the key biotope inventory there exist a relationship with the forest sites area. Further on, there is no correlation between the area and its number of species. The tests also indicate that neither of the methods predict presence or the number of red listed and bioindicator species in a forest. Based on the results, the presence of bioindicator and red listed species alone are not good indicators of forest nature value. In order to give more credible answers to these questions, more studies with increased number of replicates should be conducted.

LOGISTIKTEORIER FÖR LAGERFUNKTIONER OCH LAGERSTYRNINGSMETODER INOM MJÖLKPRODUKTION / LOGISTICS THEORIES ABOUT INVENTORY FUNCTIONS AND INVENTORY MANAGEMENT METHODS WITHIN DAIRY PRODUCTION

Larsson, Ida, Lagerborg, Erik January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of the report was to enhance the understanding of logistics within dairy production by investigating if theories of logistics concerning inventory functions and inventory management methods can be applied to dairy production, and if those theories can be used to analyze the costs for materials management. The research question was: What kind of inventory functions and inventory management methods are used within dairy production? The objective of the report was formulated as: To investigate if logistics theories concerning materials management can be used to analyze the costs of fodder inventory? Theories concerning inventory functions and inventory management where collected. To see if these theories could be applied to dairy production four interviews were conducted with different dairy production producers. From those four, two were selected for further research. At those two producers more interviews were held and the authors complemented the interviews with document studies. The gathered data where calculated and analyzed. Both inventory functions and inventory management methods were identified and therefore a cost analysis of the warehouse could be made. The findings of the report shows that it is possible to use the theories presented and that they should be used to develop dairy production.

Dogmatism and Sex Role Differentiation in Adults

Westmoreland, Robert W. 05 1900 (has links)
This study is an investigation of the general questions Is there a relationship or interaction between a subject's dogmatism score (as measured by the Dogmatism Scale) and his self-rating of the perceived stereotypical masculinity-femininity dimension (as measured by the abridged Mf scale of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory)?

Dual Factor Socially Desirable Responding and Contrasts in Intrinsic and Extrinsic Religious Motivation

McKay, Brock L. (Brock Lindsay) 12 1900 (has links)
A follow-up was done to Leak and Fish's (1989) study of intrinsically and extrinsically religious individuals using Paulhus' (1984) Balanced Inventory of Desirable Responding, a two factor scale of socially desirable responding measuring self-deceptive enhancement (SDE) and impression management (IM). 275 introduction to psychology students were group tested and categorized by gender and by religious orientation with Allport and Ross's (1967) fourfold Religious Orientation Scale (ROS). Differences between the four types were hypothesized on the religious relevance of the SDE and IM scale items. A difference score was also computed by contrasting two instructional sets on the BIDR as a measure of variation across situations. Measures of private and public self-consciousness, social anxiety, fear of negative evaluation, and self esteem were included.

The Relationship between Personality Type and Marital Satisfaction Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Marital Satisfaction Inventory

Hicks, Mary E. (Mary Elizabeth) 12 1900 (has links)
The relationship between personality type as measured by the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and marital satisfaction as measured by the Marital Satisfaction Inventory (MSI) was examined in this research. Subjects were 100 volunteer couples from a southwestern urban area who were given the MBTI and the MSI. These couples were divided into three groups: 40 were in marital therapy; 30 had satisfactory marriages and had been married seven years or less; 30 also had satisfactory marriages, but had been married more than seven years. The therapy group and the satisfactorily married groups were compared as to the number of MBTI preferences held in common, the strength of these preferences and the length of time married. The extraversion-introversion (E-I) scale and the sensing-judging (S-J) temperament of the MBTI were examined by comparing the spousal combinations in each of the groups. Chi square analysis and a Pearson correlation were used. A one-way analysis of variance was run between six of the scales of the MSI and each of the four MBTI dimensions. A MANOVA was attempted on the relationship between the spousal MBTI combinations and the six MSI scales, but the population was too small for this analysis to be conclusive. There were no significant differences between the groups as far as number of preferences held in common, length of time married, and the sensing-judging temperament. There were significantly more couples in the therapy group who had differences of 40 or more points on the four MBTI scales. The extent of the difference on the sensing-intuitive (S-N) scale was found to discriminate between satisfactory and unsatisfactory marriages. Differences on the E-I scale were found to effect couples' satisfaction in the MSI scales of Time Together and Affective Communication with the combination of introvert with introvert having the most difficulty in these areas.

Factors of Depression in the Elderly: Assessment and Implications for Diagnosis

Kunsak, Nancy Elizabeth 12 1900 (has links)
The problem of assessment and diagnosis of depression in the elderly begins with the definition of depression being indefinite. In this study, the theory of learned helplessness was chosen because of its value in organizing research within a learning theory framework. The Beck Depression Inventory, measures of fluid and crystallized intellectual ability, locus of control, and attribution of success and failure were chosen as variables for an exploratory factor analysis. The purpose of selecting these variables was to assess the cognitive, motivational, and affective components of learned helplessness as they affected the responses of elderly subjects to depression items. Self report measures of income, education, and health, were included to assess the relationship of these variables to depression. A somatic factor was predicted to correlate with an affective factor of depression.

A Study of the Relationship Between Selected Learning Styles and Achievement of Kindergarten Language Arts Objectives in a Local School District

Harp, Billie F. 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between the learning style of a kindergarten child and the level of achievement in language arts. The study was done at the request of the school district of a small community in north Texas, and it incorporated the total public school kindergarten population, 110 subjects. Instruments were the Learning Style Inventory: Primary by Perrin, the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, and an achievement test developed by the regional education service center. The LSI:P was administered to all students by one person while the two achievement tests were administered by individual teachers to their own classes. The children were divided into groups according to their rating on the LSI:P, using the Prescription Circle by Dunn and Dunn as modifier. ANOVA and chi square analysis were utilized to compute frequencies and percentages at the .05 level to determine relationships between learning styles' group membership and attainment in language. A definite relationship was found between a child's learning style and achievement on the language arts objectives. Indications were that the elements of motivation, persistence and responsibility, and perceptual mode preferred by the learner had strong relationship to success in achievement. It was concluded that a relationship exists between the ability to conduct successful word analysis and a child's learning style. It was also determined that children of kindergarten age can self-report learning style as measured by the Learning Style Inventory: Primary. It is recommended that longitudinal studies be conducted to discover if learning styles change with maturity. Other studies could be done on subgroups of the kindergarten population to find what impact preschool experiences, English as a second language, or sex of the child may have on the relationship between a child's learning style and achievement in language arts.
