Previous issue date: 2016-02-29 / This study sought to bring on overview of how the Cordel Literature arrives in Brazil and build over the time, an own identity of production, circulation and construction standard. Through the flyers, we present and noted how they can be used to combat racism that still persists in Brazil. The Popular culture, placed at the beginning by the intellectuality as if it needed help of this society segment to stay alive, can?t be seen anymore as static, but perceived as a source of revelation and knowledge construction. The corpus of this work are the flyers of Rodolfo Cavalcante and Franklin Maxado, two great exponents of Cordel Literature in the northeast of Bahia. These flyers, as well as entertainment and information, proved themselves true historical documents. In this sense, hidden figures by society, as the slave of the nineteenth century, Lucas da Feira, gain the opportunity, through the verses from Cordel, to prove themselves as memory. Coupled to these questions we have as focus on this study, to realize popular culture and its signs in Cordel Literature.

Based on this hypothesis, and with the objective of understanding the interface between basic sanitation and social service that occurs in Reference Centers in Social Assistance in the Municipality of Uberaba / MG, the dialectical method was used as a way of analyzing the data obtained through bibliographic, documentary and field research. Therefore, it is possible to present the interrelation between the basic sanitation policy and the social service, locating basic sanitation as a socio-environmental issue, and demonstrating from the historical context in Brazil, the dimension of the basic sanitation problem and its effects, which establish direct connection to social work. And as the field research was carried out in Uberaba / MG, an approximation with the historical and current course of basic sanitation in the municipality was necessary, given the importance of characterizing the research scenario, and understanding its relationships. And in order to bring concreteness to the reflection, the field research, throug... (Complete abstract click electronic access below) / Mestre

Automatic Dispatching of Issues using Machine Learning / Automatisk fördelning av ärenden genom maskininlärningBengtsson, Fredrik, Combler, Adam January 2019 (has links)
Many software companies use issue tracking systems to organize their work. However, when working on large projects, across multiple teams, a problem of finding the correctteam to solve a certain issue arises. One team might detect a problem, which must be solved by another team. This can take time from employees tasked with finding the correct team and automating the dispatching of these issues can have large benefits for the company. In this thesis, the use of machine learning methods, mainly convolutional neural networks (CNN) for text classification, has been applied to this problem. For natural language processing both word- and character-level representations are commonly used. The results in this thesis suggests that the CNN learns different information based on whether word- or character-level representation is used. Furthermore, it was concluded that the CNN models performed on similar levels as the classical Support Vector Machine for this task. When compared to a human expert, working with dispatching issues, the best CNN model performed on a similar level when given the same information. The high throughput of a computer model, therefore, suggests automation of this task is very much possible.

The impact of branding on support intentions towards supported social enterprises: The case of The Big Issue South AfricaSimons, Aaqib 01 March 2021 (has links)
A rising problem for social enterprises within South Africa is that consumers tend to display mixed interests towards their marketing campaigns. The technological revolution has allowed consumers to become more adept and ethically sensitised at identifying deceptive marketing ploys. In light of the growing competition among many SSEs in attaining donations, managers of these organisations have realised the value in managing their organisations as brands. However, SSEs should remain aware of distinguishing their marketing from corporate brands. Past literature revealed that organisations which behave socially responsibly elicit more positive attitudes from consumers. Thus, SSEs adopting socially responsible marketing could allow them to be perceived as devoted towards their social missions, which could attract more volunteering and monetary donations. The study investigated the impact of branding on support intentions towards supported social enterprises: the case of The Big Issue South Africa. A descriptive research design was adopted. This included an online survey method that was used to acquire quantitative data from 200 participants in Cape Town, which was required to interpret conclusive findings to this investigation. The findings of the study were that consumer-brand relational authenticity (CBRA), brand trust, and customer-brand identification (CBI)] had a direct positive influence on support intentions. Attitude toward helping others (ATHO) was determined as a negative moderator between the relationship of CBI and support intentions. Alternatively, altruistic values were determined to not possess any moderating influence on the relationship between brand trust and support intentions. The findings therefore fill theoretical gaps on CBRA, brand trust and altruistic values that remained unexplored in the past. The study produced a conceptual framework explaining the branding factors that have the most significant impact in driving support intentions. This framework can be beneficial to managers of SSEs with regard to leveraging support from a local and international standpoint. However, marketers in the corporate field who are designated to attracting corporate social investment (CSI) can also draw on insights from the study in order to attract support for these CSI initiatives. The study is thus beneficial to corporate organisations as well.

Fantastický okamžik. Na hranici reálného. / The Fantastic Moment. On the Verge of the Real.Dašková, Michaela January 2012 (has links)
In my diploma I continue in the topic which I solved in my theoretical part of diploma. I study that "Fantastical moment" in practise. I am interested in its uprise or creation, in its character in memories of other people and in its evoking. The book is documentation of my collecting work and also of my secret interventions in personal places of my kith and kin which are hardly accesible by spectator. The book (or issue) is set in 4 pieces. In ideal case I would like to edit it in about 100 pieces and distribute it in galerie´s shops. In this way it would be possible to lent it in some chosen places in Brno.

A Comparative Content Analysis of Televised Political Advertising in the United States and Canada in 2004 and 2008.Mahone, Jessica A. 19 December 2009 (has links) (PDF)
Analyzing 195 televised political ads from the United States and Canada in 2004 and 2008, this research studies the use of issue and image ads and the attack, acclaim, and contrast function of ads in presidential and federal elections. Results indicate that there is no statistical difference in the use of issue or image ads and no statistical difference in the function of ads in both nations in 2004 and 2008. Issue ads are found to be more commonly used in Canada than in the United States, but there is no statistical difference in the use of acclaim ads between the United States and Canada. Winners in both nations are found to use issue ads more than image ads while winners in Canadian elections were found to use issue ads more than winners of American elections. This study also offers a methodological finding regarding the analysis of issue or image in political advertising. Limitations and implications for future research are also discussed.

The Conversion of Manual Machining Equipment into Smart, Connected Systems with Real-Time Monitoring and Issue Identification CapabilitiesWilliams, David Lee 01 June 2019 (has links)
With the advent of the fourth industrial revolution, information technology and manufacturing systems are merging to form what is now known as Smart Manufacturing. However, with this newer technology being integrated with newer pieces of machining equipment, companies with legacy equipment occasionally are in a bind since these machines were not designed or built with the fundamental components of smart manufacturing systems: unified connectivity, real-time monitoring, and issue identification. The purpose of this research is to provide a solution for converting manual machining equipment into smart systems with these fundamental components of smart manufacturing. The pieces of equipment that were the subjects of this experimentation were an HJ-1100 Kingston lathe and four ACER Vertical Turret Milling machines. None of these machines had any of these capabilities at the inception of this project. These machines were successfully converted into smart systems with varying degrees of reliability between the lathe and the four mills in the case of real-time monitoring and issue identification. The setups and configurations to achieve these three smart components are described and provided.

Apocalyptic movements in contemporary politics: Christian Zionism and Jewish Religious Zionism.Aldrovandi, Carlo January 2011 (has links)
This dissertation focuses on the ‘theo-political’ core of US Christian Zionism
and Jewish Religious Zionism. The political militancy characterizing two
Millenarian/Messianic movements such as Christian Zionism and Jewish
Religious Zionism constitutes a still under-researched and under-theorized
aspect that, at present, is paramount to address for its immediate and long
terms implications in the highly sensitive and volatile Israeli-Palestinian issue,
in the US and Israeli domestic domain, and in the wider international
community. Although processes of the ‘sacralisation of politics’ and
‘politicisation of religions’ have already manifested themselves in countless
forms over past centuries, Christian Zionism and Jewish Religious Zionism are
unprecedented phenomena given their unique hybridized nature, political
prominence and outreach, mobilizing appeal amongst believers, organizationalcommunicational
skills and degree of institutionalization. / Consortium for Peace Studies at Calgary University
