Factoren die de werktevredenheid van de vrouwelijke onderwijzer in de primaire school beïnvloeden / door Geke Kieft

Kieft, Geke January 2005 (has links)
This research is about the factors that influence job satisfaction amongst female teachers in primary schools. Three goals have been set: 1. To determine the nature of job satisfaction from the literature. 2. To determine the factors that influence female teachers' job satisfaction from the literature. 3. To determine through empirical research to what extent female teachers experience job satisfaction and which factors influence her job satisfaction. After the nature of job satisfaction was determined from the literature as well as the factors that influence job satisfaction, a questionnaire has been developed. From the literature overview it appears that the factors that influence job satisfaction can be divided in four categories: factors within the person, factors within the classroom, factors within the work situation and factors within the community. The population consists of female teachers, working at primary schools in the Potchefstroom District. All women, working at post level 1, at schools with 500 or more learners have been asked to contribute to this research. The empirical part of the research showed that the factors within the work situation influence job satisfaction most, the factors outside of the classroom. The low payment is one of the factors that contribute to teachers' job dissatisfaction. The relationship to learners, parents and principals also influences the job satisfaction of the female teachers. Less important for female teachers at primary schools is the fact that the family would be a barrier for their promotion. Intimidation by learners in the school is not an influential factor either. Female teachers working at schools attended by predominantly black learners experience less job satisfaction than their colleagues working at schools attended by predominantly white learners / Thesis (M.Ed.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.

Skirtingas pareigas užimančių darbuotojų darbo motyvacijos sąsajos su jų gyvenimo tikslais ir optimizmu / Existing links between life-time goals and optimism of employees occupying different positions in the working entourage: organizing psychology master degree thesis

Dobilienė, Diana 22 December 2009 (has links)
Darbo tikslas: nustatyti sąsajas tarp darbo motyvacijos, vidinių ir išorinių gyvenimo tikslų bei optimizmo, palyginant jas su įvairias pareigas užimančiais darbuotojų socialiniais – demografiniais rodikliais. Tyrime dalyvavo 126 darbuotojai įvairaus amžiaus, lyties, išsilavinimo, darbo stažo, pareigų, darbo pobūdžio iš Kauno ir Kauno rajonų. Tyrime dalyvavo moterų 81 (64,3 proc.) ir vyrų 45 (35,7 proc.) Tyrimo metu naudotos metodikos – Darbo motyvacijos klausimynas, T. Kasser gyvenimo tikslų klausimynas, išskiriant skales: vidiniai gyvenimo tikslai ir išoriniai gyvenimo tikslai bei optimizmo klausimynas. Tyrimų rezultatai atskleidė, kad vyrai darbe motyvuoti labiau nei moterys, tačiau moterys su aukštesniu darbo motyvacijos lygiu yra labiau optimistiškos nei darbuotojos su žemesniu darbo motyvacijos lygiu. Kuo aukštesnes pareigas užima darbuotojas, tuo didesne motyvacija jis pasižymi darbe. Žemesnes pareigas užimantys darbuotojai su aukštesniu darbo motyvacijos lygiu pasižymi didesniu optimizmu, nei darbuotojai su žemesniu darbo motyvacijos lygiu. Darbe labiau motyvuoti tie darbuotojai, kurių amžius nuo 26 iki 50 metų. Aukštesnę darbuotojų darbo motyvaciją labiausiai nulemia vadovaujantis darbas bei aukštesnės kvalifikacijos reikalaujančios pareigos. / The aim of the project: to identify links between work motivation, internal and external life-time goals and optimism, and to compare them with the social – demographical indicators of different responsibilities employees. In the research participated 126 employees of different age, gender, education, work experience, occupying various positions, and different types of occupation from Kaunas city and Kaunas district. Participants: women – 81 (64,3 %), men – 45 (35,7 %). Methodologies used in the research – work motivation questionnaire, T.Kasser aspiration index, chosen points: internal life-time goals and external life-time goals; and life orientation test revised (LOT-R). The research results shows that at work men are more motivated than women, however women with higher level of motivation are more optimistic then women with the lower level of motivation. The higher responsibilities an employee has the higher his motivation is. Employees with higher level of motivation are much more optimists then those with less motivation. Employees of age range 25 – 50 are more motivated at work. Mostly employees working motivation is determined by leader positions and work demanding higher qualification. Also motivation is determined, but not that strongly, by male gender, major age, higher education and bigger work experience.

Factors which influence the job satisfaction of female educators in secondary schools / Rixt Kamstra

Kamstra, Rixt January 2005 (has links)
This study has investigated the problems experienced by female educators in relation with their job satisfaction by focussing on: The nature of job satisfaction; The problems and factors which cause job satisfaction/job dissatisfaction among female educators; To achieve these goals a literature study and an empirical study has been conducted. The literature study was undertaken by consulting primary and secondary sources. After the nature of job satisfaction and the problems causing satisfaction or dissatisfaction were established and discussed, a questionnaire was drafted. From a review of the literature, it appeared that the problems experienced by the female educators were intrinsic problems, within the classroom, outside the classroom, and within the community. A study population was used in which female educators who worked in secondary schools in the Potchefstroom District were involved. The empirical investigation indicated that the major problems experienced by the female educators were mostly outside the classroom. A minor problem for female educators appears to be that the learners are not under the obligation to tell if they are HIV/Aids infected. Also safety does not seem to be of influence on the job satisfaction of female educators in secondary schools / Thesis (M.Ed.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2005.

With the fast increase of the software market, the demand of professionals is also increasing, so there are studies that indicate a high rate of staff turnover, since many professionals move to other companies in a short time. Due to this reason, the companies are concerned to keep their professionals as long time as possible, avoiding costs with new hires, training and loss of good professionals, since some software professionals have specialized intellectual skills, and to train others for the same purpose, it may take a long time until the new hire becomes productive. In addition, also there are studies showing evidence that motivation has an influence on the success or failure of projects, as well as, others relate the motivation to staff turnover in software development, so the professionals look for jobs less stressful, more significant, with more appreciation and better working conditions. This study relates motivation aspects to staff turnover of software companies in Brazil, using an adaptation of the model Job Characteristics Model (JCM) of Hackman and Oldham. Through a survey instrument based on the model, we collected answers from 102 software development professionals in Brazil that generated results through motivational potential score (MPS). Thus, we could collect data of motivation of professionals over the last job. The data show that more than 76% of professionals, exactly 78 left the last job voluntarily, suggesting a high staff turnover rate. Also, we observed some most critical motivation aspects, we identified that 73% of the professionals presented high level of exhaustion in their last job, 71% had low Autonomy, and 69% felt low satisfaction in the job. This study can help software companies to understand which are the most motivation problems in software development to improve the work environment and culture to motivate employees, and so, reduce staff turnover rate.

Job design and wellness in New Zealand Contact Centres: a paradigm shift or same old management? : a thesis presented in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the postgraduate degree of Master of Business Studies, Human Resource Management at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand

Boyte, Karen-Ann January 2009 (has links)
The impact of the Contact Centre workplace upon employee satisfaction or wellness is attracting the attention of researchers across the globe. Over 10 years of research has resulted in recommendations about how Contact Centres should be managed and how the jobs of Contact Centre agents should be designed. There is growing concern that the current practices result in significant psychosocial risk factors which are ultimately harming the Contact Agents and less obviously the bottom line of their organisations through emotional exhaustion, stress, employee absenteeism and turnover. The aim of this study was to explore whether Contact Centre managers were aware of these recommendations, in particular those relating to the design of motivating, satisfying and “healthy” jobs. Using an expanded Job Characteristic Model, this descriptive study explored the level of awareness of New Zealand Contact Centre managers (n=20) regarding the recommendations about the design of jobs, and what changes, if any, have occurred as a result. Where changes have not been forthcoming, the study explored the constraints which were preventing or limiting change. The results of this study indicated that there is a low level of awareness of the research recommendations, that approaches to improving the management and design of Contact Centre agents roles are ad hoc, and that there is a level of resistance in providing agents with autonomy to manage their day to day roles. Some efforts to increase task and skill variety have been made but these are also ad hoc rather than built into the job. As a result of this study, it appears that Contact Centres in New Zealand are still adopting a mass production model of management. This study has implications for Contact Centre managers and senior organisational managers, these are discussed. Limitations of the research, implications for Contact Centre Managements are highlighted and areas for further research are highlighted

Bestuursfaktore wat die werkstevredenheid van die vroulike departementshoof in die sekondêre skool beïnvloed / Anna Elizabeth Ester Fourie

Fourie, Anna Elizabeth Ester January 2001 (has links)
The aim of this research project is three-barrelled: • to ascertain the nature of job satisfaction; • to ascertain which factors, according to literature, lead to the job satisfaction of the female head of department at a secondary school; • to ascertain which factors in the practice of education lead to the job satisfaction of the female head of department at a secondary school. To achieve these goals a literary study as well as an empirical research was undertaken. The literary study was done from primary and secondary sources. A DIALOG computer search was done with the following words: females, sex fairness, leaders, women administrators, career leaders, promotion, motivation, work satisfaction, female teachers, secondary school. Consequently the nature of job satisfaction was discussed. After having identified the management factors that have an influence on the female head of department job satisfaction, these factors were grouped and discussed under the following sub-divisions: • Factors that are situated in the head of department herself • Interpersonal relations • Factors concerning the job situation • Career development • Factors on managerial level that have an influence on job satisfaction Based on these factors a questionnaire was compiled from existing questionnaires (those of Hillebrand, 1989; Esterhuizen, 1989; Du Toit, 1994; Engelbrecht, 1996; Kirsten, 2000 and the Minnesota Importance Questionnaire, 1985). A systemized sample was used by which female heads of department of secondary schools in the North West Province were involved. The questionnaires were sent to the study population. The information thus gathered was statistically processed and interpreted. On account of these data, recommendations were made. The empirical research showed that female heads of department of secondary schools experience to a certain extent job satisfaction, but also that certain factors need attention. Based on the empirical study, recommendations were made. The most important one being the need to look incisively into adaptable scales of salary according to qualifications, as well as compensation that compares well with comparable jobs. It is important that the programme of rationalisation should be completed as soon as possible so that the matter of job security can be looked into seriously. The education authorities need to look into effective and fair evaluation for promotion, as well as into the physical work conditions of the female head of department / Thesis (M.Ed.)--Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, 2001

Management strategies to improve job satisfaction of principals in primary schools / Khumalo M.G.

Khumalo, Mapula Gertrude. January 2012 (has links)
The aim of this study is to optimise aspects of job satisfaction in the work environment to improve the effectiveness of primary school principals. Job dissatisfaction seems to be a worldwide problem in the education sector, even in South Africa a number of researches were conducted on job satisfaction. In this research the focus is on the following research questions: What is the nature of job satisfaction? Which factors contribute to the job satisfaction/dissatisfaction of primary school principals? To what extent do primary school principals experience job satisfaction? Do certain biographical variables relate to primary school principals’ job satisfaction? How can the job satisfaction of primary school principals be improved through management strategies? The research method used was a quantitative research method by using statistical methods that began with the collection of data based on theory, followed by the application of a descriptive or inferential statistical method. Descriptive statistical techniques were used to organise, analyse and interpret the quantitative data. Information was obtained to determine whether a relationship exists between the independent variables and the dependent variable (job satisfaction of the participants). Management strategies with aims, goals and action steps were drawn in order to assist primary school principals to improve their strong points and turn their weak points into strengths. The management strategies drawn also aimed to improve the job satisfaction of the primary school principals. In general the majority of participants in this study reported that they were satisfied to some and a great extent with the aspects that contribute to their job satisfaction. Although the majority of the participants were satisfied with the aspects of job satisfaction there were some factors that affected them negatively. The negative factors are to be turned into strengths and the existing strengths be optimised. / Thesis (PhD (Education Management))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012.
