Periódicos científicos eletrônicos brasileiros na área da ciência da informação: análise das dinâmicas de acesso e uso / Brazilian Electronic Journals in the Information Science field: Analyzing the dynamics of access and use

Avanços na área da tecnologia de informação proporcionaram mudanças em diversas áreas da atividade humana. A comunicaço cientifica e uma destas áreas. Periódicos científicos, que tradicionalmente utilizam como meio de divulgação a mídia impressa, possuem agora como alternativa a midia eletrônica. Alguns periódicos científicos lançados no final do século XX estão disponíveis exclusivamente no formato eletrônico. Esta tese de Doutorado analisa de forma específica as dinâmicas de acesso e uso dos periódicos científicos eletônicos brasileiros na área da Ciência da Informação. Discutem-se diversos tópicos fundamentais para a compreensão deste assunto. O estudo do acesso dos usuários aos periódicos foi realizado através da análise dos arquivos de log de acesso gerados pelos servidores web onde estão hospedados os periódicos selecionados para a pesquisa. O estudo relacionado ao uso que os usuários fazem dos periódicos foi realizado através da análise de um questionário enviado para os docentes dos programas de pós-graduação em Ciência da Informação, credenciados pela Coordenação de Aperfeicoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior CAPES, até a data de 30 de junho de 2001. A pesquisa identifica vários comportamentos dos usários quando do acesso aos periódicos científicos eletrônicos brasileiros, bem como algumas barreiras para uma utilização mais efetiva deste recurso. As conclusões da pesquisa sao relevantes para a elaboraço de novos periódicos cientificos eletrônicos. O prototipo de um sistema de informação eletrônico, voltado para o gerenciamento do processo de elaboração de um periódico científico eletrônico, e apresentado em sugestões para futuras pesquisas. A percepção acadêmica chinesa sobre o Brasil e a relação bilateral: um estudo de dez maiores periódicos chineses (2003-2012) / The Chinese academic perception about Brazil and the bilateral relationship: a study of ten major chinese journals (2003-2012)

Este trabalho tem por objetivo principal estudar especificamente a percepção da academia chinesa em relação ao Brasil, bem como a relação entre os dois países. A análise tem por base a utilização de dez revistas acadêmicas chinesas na esfera de política/economia internacional, elaboradas por Think Tanks consagrados. O trabalho é composto por três partes. A primeira seção apresentará um quadro geral da disciplina Relações Internacionais na China e explicará também as principais funções de TTs da China. A segunda parte contém informações quantitativas obtidas pela análise dos periódicos, concentrando-se em três aspectos: a distribuição do tema, da região e do país; a quantidade de artigos que têm o Brasil como tema e, ainda, uma comparação da quantidade dos artigos de determinados países em relação ao Brasil. A título de conclusão, far-se-á uma revisão descritiva dos artigos encontrados sobre o Brasil, apresentando qual é a imagem do Brasil aos olhos da academia chinesa, e qual o seu posicionamento acerca da relação sino-brasileira. / The main objective of this work is to study specifically the Chinese academic perception in relation to Brazil, as well as the relationship between the two countries. The analysis is based on ten Chinese academic journals in the field of international politics and economy, publicated by principal Think Tanks. It consists of three parts. The first section presents a general framework of the International Relations discipline in China and also explains the main functions of chinese foreign politics think tanks. The second part contains information obtained by quantitative analysis of the journals, focusing on three aspects: the distribution of the topic, the region and the country; the quantity of items about the Brazil and also a comparison of the amount of articles about Brazil and certain countries. In conclusion, a descriptive review of articles will be given, which is presenting Brazilian image in the eyes of the Chinese academy, and also his position on the China- Brazil relationship.

The study places in the perspective of the work called state of art or state of knowledge . It is, therefore, a bibliographic survey of analytical and critical in this production. Were mapped, organized and analyzed 89 studies from a universe of 284 articles published in the magazine from 1999 to 2008. After the mapping and organization s material, we sought to identify thematic productions trends from four themes: institutional assessment, systems evaluation, assessment of learning and evaluation: general aspects. The results show that the scientific magazine essay is essentially a Brazilian publication with most studies from southeastern Brazil. There is a work prevalence which present thoughts and/or reflections about the evaluation theme that is related to arising studies from empirical research. The universe of educational assessment includes levels of learning assessment, institutional evaluation and assessment systems, the emphasis is, proportionally in studies focusing on institutional evaluation. In this category the thematic concern to the school research, tools for evaluation, teacher education, school community reviews, experience of other countries in institutional assessment, conceptual issues and the quality question and evaluation. The survey also found that, facing a hegemonic paradigm in the field of educational assessment which is critical emancipatory paradigm, the magazine adopts a technical line instead of political in subjects related to the evaluation. / A presente disserta??o objetiva estudar o estado do conhecimento sobre a produ??o cient?fica da Revista Ensaio: Avalia??o e Pol?ticas P?blicas em Educa??o, em torno da tem?tica da avalia??o na educa??o b?sica. O estudo situa-se na perspectiva dos trabalhos denominados estado do conhecimento . Trata-se, portanto, de um levantamento bibliogr?fico, anal?tico e cr?tico da referida produ??o. Foram mapeados, organizados e analisados 89 trabalhos, selecionados de um universo de 284 artigos publicados pela revista no per?odo de 1999 a 2008. Ap?s mapeamento e organiza??o do material, buscou-se identificar as tend?ncias tem?ticas presentes nas produ??es a partir de quatro categorias tem?ticas: avalia??o institucional, avalia??o de sistemas, avalia??o da aprendizagem e avalia??o: aspectos gerais. The work establishes a broad dialogue with several authors who reflect on the history of scientific publication, the evolution of magazines printed for the electronic media, especially the digital ones, the current principles of science for dissemination, the virtual reading, open access, and the curricular narrative. The instruments for collecting data were the researcher's field diary, the list of discussion created for the group of instructors from e-Curriculum magazine, recorded chats, recorded videos, testimonial e-mail of the subjects, letters of indexing organizations and a CD-ROM of the historical archives of e-Curriculum magazine. The research on the participatory action model provided the necessary engagement to hear the speeches of subjects who lived intensely the universe of the creation of a journal, enabling to confirm that, from the subject-authors perspective, the technological media are spaces of preparation and creation of new locations for the spread and dissemination of research, as spaces for learning socialization. The thesis shows that the electronic journals, in any area of knowledge, need to be explained through research for their existence. The investigation indicates that it is possible to create a journal in postgraduate programs and concludes that it is necessary to open up intense dialogues in these programs for the development of science in the country. It is not enough to produce magazines without their correspondent political-pedagogical effort for their use and effectiveness in the research domain. Finally, it was concluded that it is possible to construct a curricular narrative from the journey, from the search for the construction of pedagogical and social utopias, without losing or failing to develop the prescriptive curriculum / Este estudo situa-se na linha de pesquisa Novas Tecnologias e Educação, procura descrever e anal isar o processo de const rução de uma revista cientí fica elet rônica em Educação e Currículo, por um grupo de alunos do Doutorado do Programa de Pós-graduação Educação: Currículo de 2004 da PUC-SP. A tese aponta que os periódicos eletrônicos, em qualquer área do conhecimento, necessitam serem significados por meio de pesquisa para sua existência. Český trh elektronických knih - překážky a možnosti / Czech Electronic Book Market – Obstacles and Opportunities

This master dissertation "Czech Electronic Book Market -- Obstacles and Opportunities" analyzes Czech market with e-books. The aim is to provide a comprehensive overview of the current situation on the market in terms of technologies, distribution models and legal issues. It describes commercial, free and illegal sources in the market, including a description of digitisation projects in Czech libraries. The thesis also includes a theoretical introduction to e-books and their development in the past. Details are discussed, focusing on technology, modern electronic readers with electronic ink. For comparison, the thesis also analyzes the U.S. market with e-books. In analytical part the individual portals with e-books on the market, their supply and user interfaces are compared. The real example analyzes the costs of an e-book and its comparison to costs of a printed book. At the end of the thesis, alternative models of distribution requirements for establishment of a new portal with e-books are characterised, the Creative Commons licenses are described and the current trend of e-journals is mentioned. Finally, I suggest recommendations especially for sellers on the Czech market describe the advantages and disadvantages of e-books in terms of individual roles in the distribution model and estimate the future market development. More detailed information related to the comparison of different types of electronic ink, a list of electronic readers that are available on the Czech e-book market at this time and specific examples of various users' interfaces that are being used on Czech e-books portals can be found in Appendix.

To analyze its significance and representativeness as a contemporary artistic production deals with such issues as the object of analysis: theme to be historicized and treating them as a source, which subsidizes research through the supporting documentation provided by them. Some questions, coming from our professional activities with students of first semesters of undergraduate course in Advertising search for answers through questionnaires to investigate whether the journal might be used as a strategy for teaching and learning in the classroom. Using issues of the journal as a motivating material, were performed analyzes and interpretations with three groups of discipline Drawing I. The study of Zupi Design Magazine within a relatively short period of existence has privileged themes as: points of convergence between the editorial project and artistic achievements, the coherence between the covers of graphic expression and the speech presented by its authors and the receipt of the journal for their readership. Our theoretical framework is provided by means of dialogue between scholars of Cultural History, which supports us. The preparation of tables allowed a detailed survey of the aspects to which we propose to study: the use of the magazine as a strategic support in Drawing course in Advertising. / Este trabalho tem por objetivo conhecer e avaliar a produção intelectual e gráfica presente nas ilustrações das capas da Revista Zupi Design em sua contemporaneidade (2006-2010). Para analisar seu significado e representatividade enquanto produção artística contemporânea trata as edições como objeto de análise: tema a ser historicizado e também como fonte, que subsidia a pesquisa por meio do suporte documental por elas fornecido. Algumas questões, vindas de nossa atuação profissional com alunos de primeiros semestres da graduação em curso de Publicidade, buscaram respostas por intermédio de questionários, com o objetivo de investigar se o periódico pode vir a ser utilizado como estratégia de ensino-aprendizagem em sala de aula. Usando como material motivador as edições do periódico, foram realizadas análises e interpretações junto a três turmas da disciplina Desenho I. O estudo da Revista Zupi Design dentro de um período relativamente curto de existência privilegiou como temas: pontos de convergência entre o projeto editorial e as realizações artísticas; a coerência entre a expressão gráfica das capas e o discurso apresentado por seus autores e a recepção do periódico por seu público leitor. Nosso referencial teórico é fornecido por intermédio de diálogos entre estudiosos da História Cultural, que nos dá suporte. A elaboração de tabelas permitiu um levantamento minucioso dos aspectos aos quais nos propusemos estudar: a utilização do periódico como suporte estratégico em aulas de Desenho no curso Publicidade.

Le sujet lyrique dans la poésie du Chat Noir (1882-1897) / The lyric subject in the poems published in Le Chat Noir (1882-1897)

La fin du XIXe siècle voit éclore un grand nombre de « petites » revues littéraires et artistiques, liées aux avant-gardes et à la bohème. Parmi elles, Le Chat Noir (1882-1897), créée par Rodolphe Salis et Émile Goudeau pour assurer la promotion du désormais célèbre cabaret éponyme. On y publie des contes, des histoires drôles et sans paroles, mais aussi de la poésie. Le présent travail entend étudier de plus près ces poèmes, à la lumière de la crise qui agite alors la production littéraire. Il s’agit plus précisément d’analyser le traitement qui est fait de la notion de sujet lyrique, « principe structurel » (Käte Hamburger) du lyrisme. Dire " je" semble en effet perdre tout sens aux yeux de ces poètes, non seulement du fait du poids de la tradition qu’il est de bon ton de subvertir au nom de l’esprit fumiste dont ils se réclament, mais encore du régime collectif au sein duquel ils s’expriment. Toutefois, les multiples provocations à son encontre permettent aussi à ces artistes de disséquer et de questionner cette notion, et même de se la réapproprier, tant collectivement qu’individuellement. Une réflexion croisée, à la fois poétique, esthétique et sociopoétique, nous amènera à définir les logiques, enjeux et stratégies d’un tel positionnement. / The end of the 19th Century is a key period for the « little » literary and artistic journals, produced by avant-garde and bohemian groups. One of them, Le Chat Noir (1882-1897), created by Rodolphe Salis and Émile Goudeau to promote the famous and eponymous cabaret. Tales, humoristic texts, illustrations or poetry appear in its columns. The present thesis aims for a closer study of these poems, in the light of the crisis which troubles the literary production. It is more precisely to analyse how the notion of the lyric subject, which is considered as the « structural principle » (Käte Hamburger) of lyricism, is treated. Indeed, saying « I » seems to lose sense for these poets, not only because of a tradition that is to subvert for the « fumiste » spirit’s sake which they claim, but also because of the collective context in which they find a space of expression. However, those provocations against the lyrical « I » is also for these artists a way to question and dissect it, and even to reappropriate it, for the collective as much as the individual distinction. A mixed reflexion, based on poetic, esthetic and « sociopoétique » analysis, will lead us to define the logics, stakes and strategies of such a position.

Industrial Welfarism in Australia 1890-1965

This thesis examines industrial welfarism in Australia from 1890 to 1965. This period witnessed the gradual spread of the welfarism movement throughout Australian industry as employers sought ways to increase productivity and control in the face of external challenges. Once reaching its peak in the immediate post-War period, the welfarism movement was gradually subsumed as part of the increasing formalisation of personnel management. Waves of interest in welfare provision coincided with periods of labour shortage and/or labour militancy in Australia, indicating its dual role in the management of labour. Firstly, by offering benefits and services beyond that made necessary by the law or industrial awards, welfarism was designed to create a pool of good quality workers for management to draw from. Secondly, managers sought to enhance their control over these workers and their productive effort, using welfarism as a technique to build worker consent to managerial authority. This could be achieved through subtle methods aimed at boosting loyalty and morale, or through more direct programs designed to increase worker dependency on the company. In both ways, individual and collective worker resistance could be minimised, thereby reinforcing managerial prerogative. Despite its adoption by a variety of companies, a number of economic, political and institutional factors limited the extent of industrial welfarism in Australia. These include the small-scale of most enterprises prior to the Second World War, state involvement in the area of industrial relations and welfare provision, and the strength of organised labour. While the welfarism movement did not reach the heights experienced overseas, it nonetheless provided an important contribution to the development of formal labour management in Australia.

<p>This thesis analyse how life-histories are expressed and reformulated in connection to a life crisis of ill health. The study is based on ten interviews with people who in connection with ill health have made use of treatments within both orthodox medicine and complementary medicine and who have also developed various forms of self-treatment. The overall aim is, with a point of departure in the concepts health, healing and trust, to analyse narratives as a practice through which the respondents create identity and a life-context. The signifi cance of constructing the (auto)biography of the healing narrative – a form of narrative and performative act – runs as the main thread through the thesis. This act makes up the practice that is recurrently discussed in several of the thesis’ chapters and is synonymously termed the telling of healing narratives or or to narrate health and healing. The analysis of the narrative’s The analysis of the narrative’s healing main themes is mirrored in the order of the chapters. The study is broadly thematic and structured as a generalised healing process beginning with upheaval, continuing with crisis and social drama, and further to the endeavour of expressing values and judgements in a public context.</p><p>The interview themes of self-treatment and alternative treatment have occasioned the investigation into what an ethno-medical perspective can bring to analyses of people’s experiences of ill health in an everyday medical context. One of the points of having the concept ethno-medicine as a starting point is that every practice or narrative formation is ascribed with a potential for interpretation in its creation of knowledge. Another chapter deals with two themes of identity and life-history construction in the practice of healing narratives – the need for a chronology and reappraised perspectives on body, health and lifestyle. Healing narratives can be understood as a genre of life-historical narratives where life is often described as a linear course of events. A model by the anthropologist Victor Turner on the course and content of social drama is used as a comment to analyses of three respondents’ narratives in another chapter. A drama can be understood as a tragic course of events, based on an accident or an upsetting incident that roughly revolves around event/crisis, chaos and the striving for restoration. The concept of other journals is then used to make visible the everyday medical administrative practice and refers to the documentation used in the form of collected documents, written notes, and diaries. As an unexpected part of healing processes, the necessity of familiarising oneself with rules, laws and health insurance systems in order to be able to claim one’s rights is brought forward.</p><p>The social transformation process of various care practices in society makes up both a context and a commonly occurring theme in the narratives that the thesis is based upon. A modern health culture that gains strength from loosely composed social movements exerts infl uence on all levels of society. With an increased individual responsibility, the need grows to fi nd one’s own healing strategies and to create one’s own life-history in narratives that mirror this transformation in an everyday context. Healing narratives can be seen as a form of evaluation of health-care practices where experiences of treatment and notions of health and cure and healing are concretised.</p>

Gender-Related Terms in English Depositions, Examinations and Journals, 1670–1720

<p>This dissertation focuses on gender-related terms as well as adjectives and demonstratives in connection with these terms used in texts from the period 1670–1720. The material in the study has been drawn from both English and American sources and comes from three text categories: depositions, examinations and journals. Two of these text categories represent authentic and speech-related language use (depositions and examinations), whereas the third (journals) is representative of a non-speech-related, non-fictional text category. While previous studies of gender-related terms have primarily investigated fictional material, this study focuses on text categories which have received little attention so far. </p><p>The overarching research question addressed in this study concerns the use and distribution of gender-related terms, especially with regard to referent gender. Data analyses are both quantitative and qualitative, and several linguistic and extra-linguistic factors are taken into account, such as the semantic domain to which the individual gender-related term belongs, region of origin and referent gender. Adjectives and demonstratives collocating with the gender-related terms are also investigated, as previous research has shown that referent gender has an impact on the use of adjectives as well.</p><p>The results show that the use of gender-related terms is influenced by both region of origin and referent gender. It is suggested that this is due in part to the difference in nature between Early Modern English society and the early American colonies, and in part due to the social roles which men and women had. Referent gender also has an impact on the type of adjectives used in connection with gender-related terms: adjectives collocating with gender-related terms denoting men have positive connotations to a larger extent than do adjectives collocating with their female counterparts; meanwhile, gender-related terms denoting women tend to collocate with negative adjectives. </p>
