Bishop Peak Natural Reserve Conservation Plan Update

Bush, Douglas J 01 June 2015 (has links) (PDF)
My master's project is updating the Conservation Plan for the Bishop Peak Natural Reserve (BPNR) in San Luis Obispo, California. It is a professional project for the City of San Luis Obispo, supported by City policy that requires continued management of its open space network through management plans unique to each property. As one of the city's most visited open spaces and one of its most visible natural landmarks, the Bishop Peak Natural Reserve is in need of continued management and oversight. While much of the work in developing the plan focused on identifying issues and developing responsive policy, this background report takes a step back, focusing on the underlying principles and municipal policies which direct those efforts. This paper serves as a background report for the planning process including an overview of methodology and policy development. One of the primary goals set forth in the BPNR update process is to improve of management capacity and increase the potential for successful implementation. To accomplish this, the reports shows how aspects of an Adaptive Management approach can be integrated into plan review and development. This background report is intended to complement the plan itself and therefore issues not covered within this report are covered within the plan.

Alonzo, Stella Elisa 01 January 1971 (has links) (PDF)

Adventures in Fictionality: Sites along the Border between Fiction and Reality

Trauvitch, Rhona 01 May 2013 (has links)
This project is a narratological study of the border between fiction and reality, and the traversing thereof. I postulate that the permeability of this border is the consequence of textual acts: Cataloged Fabulations, Second-tier Fictionals, and Rhizomatic Fabrications. These are akin to speech acts in that fictional entities gain nonfictional status by means of an implicit contract at the heart of the textual act. Having laid out the narratological foundation of the textual acts' power, I argue that the narratological bears on the ontological through performative speech acts, as portrayed in J. L. Austin's tripartite model. I use two lenses in my analysis: the work of Jorge Luis Borges and the Hebrew Bible and its commentaries. The Borgesian trifecta is encyclopedia, mirror, and labyrinth, referents that are synonymous with the three textual acts noted above. In terms of the biblical lens, my analysis focuses on a metaphor family in Jewish mysticism. This family includes the World as Book, The Torah as Blueprint, God as Author, and Letters as Building Blocks. The resulting conceptual system is narratological in nature. Consequently it is useful to draw on this system so as to elucidate the field of narratology. The binoculars offer a parallax view, which provides a unique perspective on narratology: the combination of modernist/postmodernist fantasy and the urtext of the Western literary canon.

Skandalkyssen i fotbolls-VM : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys av kriskommunikationen i Rubiales tal 2023. / The scandalous kiss at the Fifa Women´s Wold Cup : A Qualitative Content Analysis of Crisis Communication in Rubiales’ Speech 2023.

Karlström, Emma, Lundman, Moa January 2024 (has links)
The study examines the crisis communication of football personality Luis Rubiales in relation to the media-covered scandal that occurred during the 2023 Women's World Cup when the Spanish women's national team emerged victorious. During the medal ceremony, Luis Rubiales, the then-president of the Spanish Football Federation, took hold of player Jennifer Hermoso's head and kissed her on the mouth. Later, Hermoso revealed that the kiss was non-consensual, leading to a media frenzy surrounding Rubiales' actions. The purpose of the study is to examine how a person with significant power in the football world utilizes crisis communication to rebuild their reputation. The study employs a qualitative content analysis and draws on the Image Repair Theory and aspects of Foucault's theory of power. The analysis focuses on a transcription of Rubiales' speech during a 2023 press conference, translated from Spanish to Swedish and transcribed. The study's results show that Rubiales employs several defense strategies in his crisis communication and often leverages his position of power to insert himself into another existing discourse advantageous to him. The analysis reveals that the strategies of excuse, downplaying the offensiveness of the event, and denial are present in the text, in various ways and to varying degrees. Rubiales attempts to rebuild his reputation in various ways, as evidenced by interpretations of how different strategies can be applied to his speech. By applying Foucault's theories on discourses, the analysis also demonstrates that Rubiales shifts from the current discourse and inserts himself into other discourses to cast the event in a favorable light. This reshaping of the discourse occurs frequently in the speech, influencing the construction of truth in the event.

Almonacid Pérez, Miguel Ángel 01 September 2016 (has links)
[EN] The goal of this study is to find out the composing elements and resources which have been used by Spanish bands and soloists of the Pop music in the 80's. The present work is composed of various sections: firstly, a sociological part, compiling all the necessary information to select the songs which will be the core of the analysis. Secondly, a historic study about the effect that these songs have had on the public; and finally, an analytical study where not only the formal, harmonic, melodic, rhythmic and timbre aspects have been defined, but also some of the tecniques used to write the lyrics. In this work, different specialists related to Pop music have been interviewed, such as singers, musicians, radio speakers, DJs, sound technicians and businessmen. This research, apart from looking into the most relevant songs at that period, also compiles huge information about their composing aspects and provides essential information to understand the musical reality of the Spanish Pop music in the 80's, including numerous examples and transcriptions of musical passages. Três poetas e três tempos do exílio espanhol de 1939: Luis Cernuda, Emilio Prados e Max Aub / Three poets and three periods of the 1939 Spanish exile: Luis Cernuda, Emilio Prados and Max Aub

Forneron, Ivan Martucci 10 November 2015 (has links)
The present study examines the 1939 Spanish Republican exile poetry. The investigation aims to demonstrate that the time the exile lasted is a fundamental aspect when reading such a widespread poetic production. Thus, the focus is on analyzing in which way this exiled poetry incorporated and resignified the three decades of exile, reconstructing the authors identity. Critical books in three authors works compose the corpus: Luis Cernuda (Vivir sin estar viviendo, 1944-1949), Emilio Prados (La piedra escrita, 1959- 1961) and Max Aub (Antología traducida, 1963-1971).
