Schaum auf den Wellen der Raumzeit / eine Studie über Gérard Griseys Le Temps et l`Écume

Naumann, Philipp 28 September 2009 (has links) (PDF)

Crainic, Corina January 2004 (has links)
On examining novels written in Quebec after the 1950s, surprisingly some common themes emerge. One finds progressively increasing references to the themes of the book, the library, and the author. In this thesis, we study the fictional work of Gerard Bessette and Jacques Poulin, two authors who make abundant references to the universe of the book. Their characters read, write, work and even live in libraries and bookshops. / We will discuss the concept of the library, in order to clarify various key issues. Our definition of the library will include any place where books are read or stored. In other words, we do not intend to limit our study only to the traditional library, but rather to extend it to any place which shelters books. The concept of the library is thus taken in its broadest definition and includes the bookshop, the office, or even the bus. / These books were selected because each author gives an account of contemporary Quebec history. In addition, the opposing themes in these fictitious worlds, seem to be at the core of the concept of the library. Indeed, it is at the same time both closedness and openness, both hoarding and lending. We will examine how the paradoxical realities are presented in these novels.

The pen and the sword : philosophy of science in the writing of Girard Thibault.

Dace, Peregrine. January 2009 (has links)
This work is an investigation of the influence of academic philosophy on non-academics in the Early Modern period (the 16th and 17th centuries). The first chapter will use Craig’s Similarity Thesis to examine Early Modern philosophy in general, Philosophy of Science and Theology and how they interacted to elevate human reason to the level of divine certainty. The second chapter will draw on Dear’s description of the changing status of mathematics in academia in the Early Modern period. This second chapter will draw the importance and divine relevance of rationality as developed in the first chapter into the discussion to further explore the relationships between science, metaphysics, mathematics and the divine. The third and final chapter will examine one particular instance of the influence of these ideas on popular thought, specifically in Girard Thibault’s early 17th century treatise instructing the reader in swordsmanship, who uses the view of mathematics and the rational mind that is discussed in the preceding chapters to inform his theories of martial arts practice and pedagogy. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, 2009.

Ethier, Nathalie January 1992 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is the romantic "promenade" as a literary theme in the works of two 19th century authors: Gerard de Nerval and George Sand. / We have used Rousseau's Reveries du promeneur solitaire as foundation text in our research. Our corpus is comprised of two works by Gerard de Nerval: Sylvie and Promenades et Souvenirs, as well as George Sand's Lettres d'un voyageur; included also are some exerpts of her Correspondance. / We discovered that the experience of Nerval's "promenade" equates to a quest for the past, for freedom and for Nature. He also seeks to escape mental sickness, the burden threatening his inspiration. / In George Sand's works, the "promenade" becomes an activity allowing one to overcome familial and sentimental chagrin, a means of regaining a taste for life. / In the conclusion we compared the characteristics of the theme as illustrated by both authors, and brought to light their respective peculiarities.

Med tiden på sin sida : Narratologi, retorik, och moral i Julian Barnes The sense of an Ending

Eklöf, Fredrik January 2014 (has links)
