"Entre a revolução e o corporativismo - a experiência sindical dos ferroviários da E. F. Sorocabana nos anos 1930"

Araújo Neto, Adalberto Coutinho de 08 May 2006 (has links)
This work rescues and analyzes the history of the unionism of the railway workers of the Sorocabana Railway during the decade of 1930. Before the mainly subject of the work, it synthetically retakes the description of the foundation of the railway and its workers, since 1870 up to1940. It tells to the trajectory of the unions groups with ideological policy and between the railway workers, represented mainly for socialist, communist, pro-owners and “integralistas". It analyzes the conflicts, relationships and contradictions between the workers and their leadership, with the company and the State. It studies the proposals, transformations and compares the decisive adhesion of the workers who had determined the characteristic of the unionism of the Sorocabana Railway.

Procedures for the resolution of labour disputes

Bezuidenhout, G 04 August 1988 (has links)
After SACCOLA's expulsion from the International Organization of Employers in 1983 the committee decided to explore areas of domestic activity consistent with its objectives of discussing employer views on labour affairs, and representing these views where agreement amongst employers existed. As the National Manpower Commission had shortly afterwards published a lengthy report dealing, inter alia, with the role of the Industrial Court and the definition of the unfair labour practice concept, SACCOLA set up a working party to see if employer consensus could be achieved on these issues. SACCOLA succeeded in agreeing a 18 page document, which was submitted to the Department of Manpower on 28 August 1984. This was subsequently acknowledged by the Director General of Manpower to have been one of the most comprehensive reactions to this report. In his reaction to the report, however, Dr Van der Merwe noted that legislative change would be greatly facilitated by labour/employer agreement, and he therefore suggested that SACCOLA should discuss its proposals with union federations.

Social dynamics of labour relations in rural and urban industry : a sociological perspective of South African industry.

Lucas, Brian Henry. January 1986 (has links)
From a review of sociological theory, and the main features of the South African labour environment, the enquiry was designed to identify pressures for change amongst South African industrial workers. Research involved 554 workers in five industrial situations, ranging from that peripheral to 'black homeland' areas to that of settled urban workers in metropolitan Durban, and 43 managers and supervisors. Factor analysis of data revealed three themes (the 'social dynamics' ) in terms of which workers responded consistently. The first was the causative integration dynamic, the second the responsive dynamic of orientation to change. The interaction of these dynamics defines the nature of internal labour relations. Successful management of these dynamics demanded effective conmunication and involvement. The third theme was identified as the adherence dynamic, representing extrinsic pressures or responsibilities compelling workers to find employment, and inhibiting or regulating their freedom of egress. The external environment is beyond the control of management, and is influenced by both government policy and general economic conditions. Conclusions are that historic restrictions on labour mobility and residence in South Africa have contributed significantly to conditions hindering achievement of South Africa's full growth potential. Growth impediment arises from accumulation of workers in work situations not of their choice, from which they cannot easily escape, and in which they become increasingly uncommitted and alienated. This contributes to gradual development of potential conflict which, considered generally assumes the character of that based on social divisions of class and race. However it also explains, through the example of South African industry, how it is possible for societies to function over long periods of time when significant levels of internal conflict and opposition remain within the bounds of equilibrium. Capitalism in South Africa is seen in the context of an interdependent spiral of gradual economic decline and rising political discontent. Essential steps in its reversal would include removal of all restrictions on personal freedom of movement, and urgent integrative management strategies. South African industry is compared with American and Japanese industry in the social dynamics context. The study draws independent support from, and lends support to theory evolved in United States industry from work done particularly by Hirschman (Hirschman, A.O., 1970), and Sayles (Sayles, L.R., 1958). / Thesis (Ph.D.)-University of Natal, Durban, 1986.

Les syndicats, le chômage et les chômeurs. Raisons et évolution d'une relation complexe.
The Trade Unions, the Unemployment and the Unemployed. Reasons and Evolution of a complex Relationship.

Faniel, Jean 20 March 2006 (has links)

In Belgium, 85% of the unemployed are unionised. This peculiar situation is mainly related to the specific position of the trade unions, as the jobless can choose to receive their benefits through the intervention of one of the three national unions. Arbetarrörelsens syn på lärarnas arbetsmarknadskonflikter 1966 och 1971

Öhman, Rickard January 2016 (has links)
The topic of this thesis is the disputes between the teacher strikes 1966 and 1971 and how the labour movement perceived the teachers and the srikes throught the perspective of class. Various text sources from different agents within the labour movement has been examined. Interprations of two marxist theories and Bourdieus theory of habitus has been used to define various ”class perspectives”. The thesis argues that the labour movement percieved the teachers as a different class from the labourer and that the strikes were percieved as a threat to the labour movements interests.
