Do ponto de vista geral, a teoria freudiana representa a própria razão de ser da Escola de Frankfurt, pois permite Á Teoria Crítica pensar seu objeto, pensar-se a si mesma, e pensar a própria psicanálise enquanto momento da cultura. Baseando-nos metodologicamente numa interpretação dialética da psicanálise, recorremos ao corpus teórico do psicanalista Jacques Lacan, com intuito de mostrar que aquilo que interessa é o caráter dialético da teoria freudiana inserido no corpo teórico frankfurtiano. No que se refere a Adorno especificamente, a questão da "elaboração do passado" é uma das mais importantes dentre as quais se lhe apresentaram na intercessão das décadas de 1950 e 60. Contido, tal como pretendemos discutir neste estudo, é necessário atentar para o fato que essa elaboração- ou perlaboração - , no âmbito da dialética negativa, não pode assumir, de forma alguma, uma conotação positiva, pois, assim, estaria fadada a torna-se, de início, inócua.

Sur les mathématiques et la poésie chez Lacan, plusieurs choses ont été dites afin de faire état, d’un côté des éléments heuristiques des mathématiques et de l’autre pour éclaircir la relation entre psychanalyse et poésie. Pourtant, les références sur l’articulation entre mathématiques et poésie sont, hélas, marginales. Une quête sur les distinctes formulations de la liaison entre science et psychanalyse selon Lacan, suit à une problématisation épistémologique et ontologique de la psychanalyse de Lacan ; là, nous trouvons deux plateformes où Lacan mobilise son approche des mathématiques et à la poésie. La première consiste en le mathème comme une alternative au poème heideggérien afin de désontologiser la psychanalyse. La deuxième est le rapatriement des poètes expulsés par Platon au champ psychanalytique. Nous traçons la trajectoire des usages et la fonction des mathématiques en lien avec ses élaborations poétiques tout au long de l’œuvre et l’enseignement de Lacan afin d’éprouver l’importance d’eux pour la théorie, la pratique et la clinique. Pour cela, nous prenons appui sur ce que Freud avait déjà dit sur ces savoirs, notamment sur la poésie. Un double groupement quadripartite est à la base de cette recherche. Premièrement, les mathématiques ou le Mathème réunit la formalisation, le mathème, les diagrammes et les objets/thèmes mathématiques. Deuxièmement, la poésie ou Poème se compose de quatre sous-ensembles : littérature, art, esthétique et création. Nous exposons finalement trois « cas » d’articulation entre Mathème et Poème extraits de l’œuvre de Lacan. / There is no doubt that plenty has been said about the place of mathematics and poetry in the work of Jacques Lacan. On the one hand mathematics is often convoked as a heuristic tool for psychoanalysis. On the other, many books have been written in order to clarify the relationship between psychoanalysis and poetry. However, references to the articulation of poetry and mathematics remain marginal. After an epistemological and ontological problematisation of this articulation in Lacan’s work, we explore the different links that Lacan makes between science and psychoanalysis. Here we find two platforms where Lacan mobilises an approach to poetry and mathematics. The first one is the mathem as an alternative to the heideggerian poem, a shift that allows a deontologization of psychoanalysis. The second one consists of Plato’s evicted poets repatriation to the psychoanalytical field. Taking into account what Freud said about both disciplines –especially poetry– we trace the trajectory of the usages and functions of mathematics in relation to the poetic elements that Lacan developed throughout his work in order to discuss its theoretical, practical and clinical pertinence. As such, this research is structured in two sections consisting of four parts each. The first one, entitled Mathematics or Mathem stands for Formalisation, Mathem, Diagrams and Mathematical objects/themes. The second one, entitled Poetry or Poem, is composed of four subsets: Literature, Art, Aesthetics and Creation. Finally, we expose three “cases” of articulation between Mathem and Poem extracted from Lacan’s work.

婦女研究不僅是在社會學、人類學、文學、傳播學等各學科中以女性主義角度研究有關女性問題，同時又在生物學、醫學、心理學等以女性為研究客體探討從未受重視的女性身心。基於歐美多元複雜的女性論述和婦女研究，台灣的婦女研究需要在不同領域、針對不同議題研究批判，才能窺得父權全貌並建立女性主體。就傳播領域而言，漫畫媒介仍是一塊研究的蠻荒之地，自一九九二年 ＜著作權法＞修定通過後 ，台灣漫畫出版界一片欣欣向榮，短短二、三年間，漫畫風潮從校園蔓延至社會各階層，在出版界，漫畫是書刊類出版品中總數量數一數二，在傳閱率上，漫畫擁有的讀者群人數也是各類圖書之冠，然而，這樣一種有著高普及率與廣泛影響力 的媒介卻很少成為學術研究的對象，以性別角度研究漫畫更是付之闕如。 日本連環漫畫＜城市獵人＞集美女、英雄、情色、冒險、暴力、夢想、爆笑於一身，全書充斥著刀、槍、酥胸、長腿、勃起，並且在引進台灣後所向披靡地席捲全省高中、專校及大學，是屬性別意涵豐富的漫畫經典名作，基於＜城市獵人＞所創造的高普及率與其具爭議性的性別意涵，相當值得以女性主義的觀點來探討＜城市獵人＞中的女性意涵。女性主義學術是要改變以往被視為普遍性的性別觀念並以女性經驗及女性對文化貢獻的知識重建起女性的視角。因此，要打破性別迷思必須否認性別迷思自然生成的觀念，而著重於主體在符號活動過程中的社會建構。拉康(J. Lacan)的主體形成理論指出嬰兒透過鏡中形象和語言的獲得而變成性別主體(gendered subjectivity)，受拉康主體形成理論和結構主義符號學的影響，阿圖塞(L. Althusser)發展其主體性及意識型態理論，以權力的觀點解釋人與社會的關係，適宜女性主義學術援引以理解父權社會中不平等權力分配的本質，及透由意識型態建構性別主體的過程。而以語言學的概念運用到任何訊息傳佈現象，提供日常生活中意義的反省與批判的符號學分析(semiotics)和敘事理論(narrative theory)則適宜作為解讀文本的研究方法。本研究即以拉康的主體形成理論及阿圖塞的意識型態理論為探討女性主體性的理論基礎，以符號學分析和普洛普(V. Propp)發展的敘事結構模式為解讀文本的方法，解構漫畫＜城市獵人＞文本深層之性別迷思和意識型態結構。

Within the field of Disability Studies, research on cognitive and developmental disabilities is relatively rare in comparison to other types of disabilities. Using Clifford Geertz's anthropological approach, "thick description," autism can be better understood by placing both fiction and non-fiction accounts of the disorder into a larger theoretical context. Applying concepts from existing works in Disability Studies to the major writings of Jacques Derrida, Julia Kristeva, Jacques Lacan, and Donna Haraway also proves to be mutually enlightening. This ethnographic approach within the context of analysis of literary texts provides a model by which representations of individuals who are cognitively or developmentally disabled can be included in the academy.

The role of advertising in postmodern culture is far more than an impetus to capitalist economy; from its first full flowering in the 1920s, it has addressed its human subjects in ways that exceed considerations of monetary exchange. Advertising has come not only to sell people what they desire – it has also materially changed their desire, and thus the people themselves in the process. Certainly ‘individuals’ have become ‘consumers’ – but the problem is greater than this. Advertising, with its undeniable aspects of fantasy, often stands in complete opposition to critical thinking. This examination explores advertising’s effects on the individual through the critical lenses of ideology and psychoanalysis, concluding that although ideology is a relevant methodology, it remains incomplete. Psychoanalytic theory, on the other hand, provides multiple avenues of interpreting how advertising addresses both the conscious and the unconscious mind, and offers a potential methodology for personal resistance and social change.

For many years, theorists have turned to popular movies and books to help interpret the difficult principles of Jacques Lacan. However, one story that has gotten very little attention is Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and its derivative body of film adaptations. Both the novella and Rouben Mamoulian’s 1931 film are a small part of an intertextual body of work which contains scenes that play out the Lacanian principles of the mirror stage and the gaze very well. Since art imitates life, an in depth exploration of the way that these scenes play out can illuminate how Lacan’s abstract theories might look in the real life formation of identity and in male/female relations.

Le présent projet doctoral se compose d'un volet théorique et d'un volet pratique. Au niveau théorique, nous abordons la notion de crise du sujet moderne - qui va de pair avec la représentation et la mise en espace du corps humain -, telle que théorisée par des auteurs français « poststructuralistes » comme Michel Foucault, Jacques Lacan et Jean-François Lyotard. Nous tentons de dresser un panorama propre à rendre compte, d'un point de vue historique, de la genèse du sujet moderne, de son déploiement à partir de la Renaissance et de son déclin dans le monde occidental « postmoderne », qui se caractérise notamment par le relâchement des liens symboliques. Nous inscrivons en outre cette histoire condensée du sujet dans le cadre d'une histoire de la peinture et nous la mettons en relation avec la naissance et l'émergence du médium photographique. Ainsi ce texte, à travers la présentation et l'analyse du concept moderne de subjectivité, tente-t-il de mettre en lumière ce que l'on pourrait appeler un « lien ontologique » qui unit des notions aussi diversifiées que le sujet moderne ou cartésien ; le rapport conflictuel que celui-ci entretient avec le corps et avec le phénomène de vision ; la mise en perspective d'un tel sujet dans l'art de la post-Renaissance ; le parachèvement du régime pictural moderne à travers la photographie ; et, enfin, la crise du sujet moderne, que nous situons dans le prolongement des réflexions développées sur la photographie, médium par excellence du morcèlement des corps et de la dissémination du sens. Au terme de ce parcours, nous essayons de voir comment ce bilan historique des idées et des concepts philosophiques s'articule dans notre travail artistique et en éclaire le fonctionnement. Sur le plan pratique, nous avons réalisé une série de neuf photographies mises en scène, intitulée La Résurrection, qui fut présentée dans le cadre d'une exposition au Centre OBORO de Montréal en septembre 2011. Avec ces images, nous avons cherché à combiner une certaine tension dramatique propre au médium photographique avec une figure extraite du panneau de la Résurrection du retable d'Issenheim (1512-16) de Matthias Grünewald afin de produire un dispositif de haute intensité propre à rendre compte de cette crise du sujet. Cette série se présente donc, d'entrée de jeu, comme une réflexion sur le statut ontologique de l'image photographique et sur les liens que la photographie entretient avec la peinture de la Renaissance. Cette réflexion se double d'une méditation sur notre incarnation dans le monde et notre rapport à la représentation en cette ère que d'aucuns voient comme celle de « la fin des grands récits ». Par l'entremise d'un dialogue inusité avec le tableau de Grünewald, cette série aborde les thèmes de l'érosion du sens et de l'aliénation par et dans l'image. The philosophical problem of the tension between liberty and order has dominated the agenda of western philosophy and science since the beginning of the history of thought, and it is a leading issue nowadays, too. The problem of the act of decision is particularly one of the significant themes of contemporary political thought. Instead of the classical poles of both voluntarism and determinism prioritising either the subject or the structure, what should be employed is a much deeper analysis of the relation between undecidability and the act of decision. In this respect, the discussion between Ernesto Laclau and Slavoj &amp / #381 / i&amp / #382 / ek is considerably illuminating. But there are also theoretical shortcomings shared by these thinkers. That is, despite the informativeness of this debate, there is an overwhelming necessity to critically assess this dialogue with a particular emphasis on the conceptual issues. In this regard, an overall scrutiny and critical assessment of this debate constitute the main body of this thesis.

La figure mythique du double se manifeste dans la majorité des cultures sous des formes archétypales renvoyant à l’expérience de la division de l’individu en positions antithétiques ou complémentaires. Dans la littérature gothique et fantastique, le mythe est propice à créer un sentiment d’angoisse et d’horreur soulignant les problèmes et mystères de la schize du sujet. Ce travail d’analyse propose de regrouper les récits de doubles selon deux catégories d’occurrences thématiques en se basant sur le traitement textuel qui en est fait, soit l’apparition du double par homonymie d’une part et par pseudonymie de l’autre. Ceci mènera ultimement à commenter sur la perception qu’a l’auteur de lui-même et du processus de création. Le problème de la division étant au cœur des balbutiements théoriques en psychologie et en psychanalyse, une grille analytique lacanienne et post-structuraliste sera appliquée à cette recherche. Les œuvres traitées seront New York Trilogy de Paul Auster, The Dark Half de Stephen King, William Wilson d’Edgar Allan Poe, Le Double de Fédor Dostoïevski et Despair de Vladimir Nabokov. / The mythical figure of the double appears in most of cultures through archetypes translating the human experience of division, be it complementary or antithetical. In Gothic and Fantastic literatures, the myth often stands for a feeling of anguish and horror underlining the mysteries and complications arising from the subject’s dividedness. This analysis wishes to group into two thematic categories occurrences of doubles based on the textual treatment that is made of them: doubles as homonyms and as pseudonyms. This distinction will lead in commenting on the author’s perception of himself and of the creative process. We will use a Lacanian and post-structuralist reading grid, based on the fact that dividedness has been a core issue in psychological and psychoanalytical theoretical developments. The works studied will be Paul Auster’s New York Trilogy, Stephen King’s The Dark Half, Edgar Allan Poe’s William Wilson, Fyodor Dostoevsky’s The Double and Vladimir Nabokov’s Despair.

The thesis develops a comprehensive account of human political ontology through the discussion of Plato, Rousseau, Lacan, Lyotard, Hugo, Conrad, Tolstoy and Nietzsche. At the heart of this account lies the dialectical struggle between an individual's need to belong and their fidelity to an intuitively recognisable, yet difficult to define good (or set of goods), that has, over the millennia, been conceptualised as, amongst other things, the form of the good, self interest, compassion, love, friendship, the event, conscience, reason and truth. Through the development of this account of human political ontology the thesis will elucidate the stakes involved in emancipatory acts, be they broad social movements or individual transformations. Its most important argument is that people almost always fail to recognise that to which they belong; the consequence of this being that they mistake the acts which function to reaffirm their belonging for acts that are indicative of their sovereign being. This phenomenon becomes particularly troubling once we recognise that the acts which function to reaffirm an individual??s belonging can depend upon the individual sacrificing both themself and others.
