The idea of poor of God's Sacrament has been transmitted for a long tradition. This tradition appears again in the Prophetic Christianism of the Theology of Libertation, especially in Jon Sobrino. We tried to put some aditional informations for a new hermeneutic of "poor" not as a sociological category, but as a Sacrament. The symbolic reason, in Jon Sobrino, is characterized for the gratuity; his symbolic fight tries to change the categories of observation and cares of the social world, the cognitive and evaluates structures. This work is based in four moments. The first one has the focus on some questions about methodology and theory of research, mainly in the Theory of symbolic power, social space and symbolic violence in Pierre Bourdieu, that will be used to understand the "poor" in Jon Sobrino. In the second moment we will check as many as possible the word "poor" in the symbolic theory of domination according to Pierre Bourdieu. In the third moment, we will try to analyze the representations about poverty based on some representants of Theology's Libertation, in Latin America, connecting them with Jon Sobrino. Finally, we will check the semantic transformation of the word "poor" in Principle on Mercy / Examinamos, neste trabalho, o sentido do termo "pobre" na obra O princípio misericórdia de Jon Sobrino, a partir do pensamento do sociólogo Pierre Bourdieu.

From reading some of the works of two important theologians of this current, Clodovis Boff and Leonardo Boff, we reflect on the conceptions of history that are present in their writings published between the years from 1971 to 1989. Such theological formulations defended by the two authors are part of a non-hegemonic current within the Catholic Church. Attempting to contextualize more widely the dialogue between the movement in question and the History, we analyze the contributions of the Comiss?o de Estudos e Hist?ria da Igreja na Am?rica Latina (CEHILA) for the historiography of religion in Brazil and also its contributions to think critically and self-criticism the history of Christianity in Latin America. Lastly we also discuss some reactions to the theologians of Liberation and its incorporation of historiography and marxism, by other segment theologians, of that Church. About significant group of those critics, we limit ourselves to analyze the criticisms of Liberation Theology through documents published by four of these defenders of Catholic Orthodoxy: Joseph Ratzinger, Friar Boaventura Kloppenburg, Urban Ziles and Karl Josef Romer. The intention is to identify the different conceptions of history and the conflicts of representation within the Catholic Church. / Nesta pesquisa buscamos estudar algumas das principais elabora??es intelectuais da Teologia da Liberta??o. The Blanqueamiento of Ecuador: Liberation in the Black Christ of Daule

Leu, Jessica 01 May 2022 (has links)
The dominance of the White Christ in Latin America has been used to lend “theological” support for social, racial, and colonial hierarchies of the Spanish in Ecuador. The rhetoric used to justify the blanqueamiento process continues to play an enormous role in Ecuadorian social mobility, and also determines how various ethnicities in Ecuador are governed and treated. The Indigenous and Afroecuadorian populations of Ecuador are subjected to significantly higher rates of violence, poverty, and disease than their Mestizo and White counterparts. Against the tide of this theological distortion, I will argue that the Black Christ of Daule subverts the dominant image of a White Christ along with its implied oppressive hierarchies, instead paving the way for a vision of liberation for Ecuadorian Catholics.

Saved, sanctified and filled with gay liberation theology with aamsm and the black church

Green, Adam 01 May 2011 (has links)
AAMSM (African American men who have sex with men) endure homophobia and racism in their political realities because of their identity. How do multiple oppressions impact the experiences of AAMSM participating within Black churches? Despite the Black church's legacy for liberating African Americans, AAMSM feel demonized and alienated while enduring religion-based homophobia espoused within many Black churches. In the church, AAMSM are pushed further down the hierarchy of oppression and privilege. In response to these observations, this thesis employs a sexual discourse of resistance. I engage this discourse with a literature review in order to discover links between homophobia and AAMSM in an interdisciplinary manner. Jungian psychology is then utilized to interpret internalized oppression. This leads to a discussion of social and religious justice for AAMSM in the Black church through the lens of liberation theology. While the oppressed have become oppressors within the Black church as regards AAMSM, liberation theology affirms all of humanity. Liberation theology provides a message of love for AAMSM and a source of Christian ethics for the Black church.

Activation of the Ummah : Situating the Muslim Ummah Within Ethnicity-based Community Defence - A Marxist Approach

Cain, Adèle January 2024 (has links)
As a Marxist contribution to research on the concept of religious diaspora, this paper seeks to explore whether Muslims can be understood as a nationally oppressed people with an economic basis for organising collectively as a group. Drawing from a Marxist analysis of religion and national struggle, the paper seeks to explore the concept of an ethnicity formation premised on religious affiliation, namely that of the Muslim Ummah, and its organisational potential within a national struggle paradigm. Utilising the Hegelian Marxist concept of Aufhebung, or dialectical return, the study resituates the parameters of anti-colonial struggle beyond nation to the transnational arena, recapturing the economic basis of the Ummah and enabling an understanding of its contemporary emergence within and alongside national struggle mobilisations at both localised and transnational levels.

Interdependence, responsibility and partnership : a German perspective on the Northern Local Church in her international context

Schmidt, Jörg 05 1900 (has links)
Text in English / This thesis is an attempt to investigate how local churches (re)define their international orientation in response to the shockwaves of globalisation and their interpretation of the signs of the times. The analysis is guided by the key dimensions of interdependence, responsibility, and partnership. The local church is expected to have reached an increasing awareness of interdependence in her international relationships by the emergence of the postmodern systemic paradigm as never before in the history of the ecumenical movement. Consequently, this results in a sense of responsibility developing directly from a prophetic reading and an interpretation of the signs of the times as well as in a receptivity to be fertilised by international impulses. The local church is perceived by both individual Christians and pastors as direct platform for international responsibility. The wounds of the world, the needy and the suffering are suggested as inviting primary responses of local churches in the North. International church partnerships are investigated as practical attempts to live out interdependent relationships, to translate the sense of responsibility into action, and to receive fertilisation from the partner churches. Qualitative case studies from Reformed, United (Lutheran/Reformed) and Free churches present a status analysis of churches regarding the points under discussion. The tendency is observed that pastors inc~easingly look for ways alternative to the old ecumenical structures, which are characterised by rich/poor and donor/recipient relationships, thus operating their churches with free initiative and association. Studies regularly narrow down topics to interdependence, postmodernism, development, development politics, church development services, international partnerships, ecumenical learning, etc. Often recommendations for action are made based on the one single area of research presented. In this study, however, it is argued that pastors and churches do not derive their decisions and programmes from considerations of one single area, but they consider all these areas together. / Christian Spirituality, Church History & Missiology / D. Black theology and apartheid theology : an investigation into epitheton theology

Le Roux, Zacharias Petrus 06 1900 (has links)
Black theology and apartheid theology are theologies making use of an epitheton. The use to which the epitheton is put in these theologies is of crucial importance, that is, they are couplet theologies being used in a subjective genitive fashion. The question is whether the couplet becomes a theology of/concerning the epitheton or is it used in an objective genitive fashion. When the epitheton is used in the objective genitive sense it of necessity has to generate an epistemological break in order to distinguish it from orthodox theology. This in turn necessitates a conscientisation of a contextually predicated theology The theology becomes reductive. In this way an epitheton theology forming part of a couplet becomes attenuated and diverges from orthodox theology in the construction of its theology. This can lead to the espousal of heretical teachings. Conclusion: The conclusion arrived at is the objective genitive sense, that an epitheton theology, in for the purpose of advancing a particular secular base or pseudo-theological base for Christian society, once it has gained a life of its own, will lead to heresy unless erroneous or sinful teachings are confessed and repented of. / Philosophy, Practical and Systematic Theology / D.
