Svensson, Daniel, Rönneke, William January 2024 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the development of a lifting device for roof mounted tents at the requestof Thule with the focus on improving the ergonomics during installation and removal of roofmounted tents on vehicles, while also enabling the process for one to two users. The work isstructured according to the Double Diamond model and uses established product developmentmethods to ensure a systematic process. The preliminary study consists of an analysis of ergonomic risk factors during heavy liftingusing the Swedish Work Environment Agency's (Arbetsmiljöverket) assessment template andRapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA). These tools were used to evaluate current users ownsolutions for lifting roof mounted tents. After screening and selecting developed concepts, an existing plasterboard lift was modified tocreate a prototype. Modeling work was carried out in SolidWorks, where various componentsand modifications were visualized and tested before being integrated into the plasterboard lift. The final prototype integrates functions that enable tilt and lifting of the roof tent, whichreduces the need for manual lifting and thus the risk of physical damage because of overloadsas well as minimizing needed storage space. The prototype was tested and evaluated where the results showed an improvement inergonomics and ease of use during lifting, facilitating movement of roof mounted tents betweenvehicles and storage while being able to be stored together with the tent with minimal impacton space requirements.Lastly, the work suggests further strength tests and investigation of better suited lift functionsfor future development to improve safety and lifting device efficiency.

Autonomt underhåll av lyftverktyg vid lastarmontering / Autonomous maintenance of lifting tools for loader assembly

Wu, Christy January 2022 (has links)
Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is an approach with eight sub-aspects, which focuses on maintaining and improving production. Autonomous maintenance (AM) is one of the eight pillars and is a maintenance strategy, where machine operators perform basic maintenance tasks and continuously check their own machines. When working with lifting tools, all components and functions should be checked to minimize the risk for accident. Daily supervision is a legal requirement in many countries, and, in Sweden, it is included in the Swedish Work Environment Authority's regulations AFS 2006: 6, section 30, which states that lifting tools must be maintained and checked daily. It is advisable to carry out a daily inspection at the beginning of each shift. Ålö AB lacked routines and guidelines for how the lifting tools used for mounting loaders should be optimally maintained, as well as instructions for the ongoing maintenance of the lifting tools. The purpose of the project was to increase safety in the workplace, prevent ill health and accidents, detect maintenance needs as early as possible, and to increase operators' skills and knowledge of lifting tools. The aim of the project was to produce an instruction for the operators' maintenance of lifting tools on the installation of loaders. The project was carried out through fact-finding, development of various concepts over the process, evaluation of concepts and development of a final concept. The specific work routine suggested in the final concept is based on daily inspections must be carried out at various locations in the assembly department. The working method combines analogue documentation of the daily supervision of paper forms with digital post-processing.

Gentilhomme, Théophile 28 May 2014 (has links)
In this work, we propose to follow a multi-scale approach for spatial reservoir properties characterization using direct (well observations) and indirect (seismic and production history) data at different resolutions. Two decompositions are used to parameterize the problem: the wavelets and the Gaussian pyramids. Using these parameterizations, we show the advantages of the multi-scale approach with two uncertainty quantification problems based on minimization. The first one concerns the simulation of property fields from a multiple points geostatistics algorithm. It is shown that the multi-scale approach based on Gaussian pyramids improves the quality of the output realizations, the match of the conditioning data and the computational time compared to the standard approach. The second problem concerns the preservation of the prior models during the assimilation of the production history. In order to re-parameterize the problem, we develop a new 3D grid adaptive wavelet transform, which can be used on complex reservoir grids containing dead or zero volume cells. An ensemble-based optimization method is integrated in the multi-scale history matching approach, so that an estimation of the uncertainty is obtained at the end of the optimization. This method is applied on several application examples where we observe that the final realizations better preserve the spatial distribution of the prior models and are less noisy than the realizations updated using a standard approach, while matching the production data equally well.

Etude de l'influence de la dilution du combustible et de l'oxydant dans le processus de décrochage de flammes-jet non-prémélangées et l'émission de polluants / Study of the influence of air-side and fuel-side dilution on the lifting process of an attached non-premixed jet-flame and on pollutant emissions

Marin Ospina, Yohan Manuel 17 November 2016 (has links)
Understanding the main mechanisms piloting non-premixed jet flame stability is an important point in characterizing the operation modes of industrials burners in which dilution is involved. This work puts special emphasis on the experimental study of the influence of air-side and methane-side dilution in the lifting process of attached non-premixed jet flames. The study is based on numerous experiments combining the following conditions : i) carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen (N2), argon (Ar) or water vapor (H20v,) used as diluents d ; ii) two diluted configurations : air-side or methane-side dilution ; iii) two air and fuel velocities covering the entire flame hysteresis domain, from the laminar to the turbulent regime. This allows the influence of the intrinsic diluent nature effects to be discriminated from those of the aerodynamics of the reactants (fuel and oxidant), in attached flame stability. In particular, the behavioral differences of the flame response to air-side or to fuel-side dilution are analyzed. These two configurations differ by two mixing effects which are independent of the combustion reaction, and which are significant when the fuel is diluted, but negligible when air is diluted : i) an effect due to the changes in the stoichiometric mixture fraction ; ii) a mechanical impact induced by the addition of matter (diluents) producing an increase in the bulk velocity of the reactants. The study is composed of three parts. First, the global flame response to dilution is analyzed on the basis of the lifting limits defined as the critical molar fractions of the diluents in the fuel or in the oxidant measured at liftoff. The fuel Peclet number, Pef, appears as the dimensionless number which puts these limits in a homothetic order. This homothetic behavior allows the introduction of two affinity parameters, Kd,ox for air-side dilution and Kd,f for fuel-side dilution. They are defined by the ratio of the flame lifting limits calculated with a diluent d and with CO2, at Pef=const. Kd,ox and Kd, allow two generic polynomial laws to be established describing the flame lifting limits for all the diluents and in the whole range of aerodynamic conditions of this study. Indeed, Kd,ox and Kd,f encompass all the diluent effects affecting flame stability (pure dilution, thermal, transport, chemical), to which mechanical impacts are added. These coefficients make it possible to obtain the self-similarity laws of the lifting limits for any chemically-weak diluent, by using the results obtained in this work. Then, a local and detailed study of the flame lifting process induced by dilution is presented. This is based on the flame-leading-edge approach describing flame stability as a result of the balance between the incoming gas velocity of the reactants and the flame propagation velocity at the flame base. In order to show the link between this approach and flame stability, an extensive analysis of the flame-base characteristics (location, CH* emission intensity and velocity field) is carried out. The results attest to the pertinence of the propagative flame-leading-edge, as the mechanism describing the attached flame stability under dilution. Finally, a study concerning the influence of both the diluent nature and the diluted configuration (air or fuel) on pollutant emissions (soot, NOx and CO) is presented.

Jacking and Equalizing Cylinders for NASA- Crawler Transporter

Rühlicke, Ingo 03 May 2016 (has links) (PDF)
For the transport of their spacecraft from the vehicle assembly building to the launch pads at Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is using two special crawler transporters since 1965. First developed for the Saturn V rocket the crawler transporters have been sufficient for all following generations of space ships so far. But for the new generation of Orionspacecraft which is under development now, a load capacity increase for the crawler transporter of plus 50% was necessary. For this task Hunger Hydraulik did develop new jacking, equalizing and levelling (JEL) cylinders with sufficient load capacity but also with some new features to improve the availability, reliability and safety of this system. After design approval and manufacture of the cylinders they have been tested in a special developed one-to-one scale dynamic test rig and after passing this the cylinders had to prove their performance in the crawler transporter itself. This article describes the general application and introduces the technical requirements of this project as well as the realized solution.

The liability of groups of companies in Islamic law : a comparative study with common law

El-Saadouni, Raed January 2013 (has links)
Groups of companies offer considerable economic and practical advantages over other forms of business organizations. However, the phenomenon creates a long list of problems in terms of antitrust law, tax law, labour law, corporate law, and in the case of international companies, conflict of laws. National laws do not provide a complete solution to these problems because groups of companies are still governed by traditional corporate law, which is designed to govern single independent companies. On the other hand, harmonization of the law of corporate groups across Common legal systems is neither feasible not advisable. The most important problem which has not yet been completely solved by Common law systems is the liability of groups of companies for the debts of their subsidiaries. This has been described as "one of the great unsolved problems of modern company law". The present study aims to analyse the solutions provided by Common law systems to this problem and evaluate if they provide a solid settlement or whether further safeguards are needed for those dealing with corporate groups, namely minority shareholders and outsiders including creditors. By using a comparative approach with the Islamic law system, the study evaluates if the Common law solutions are also applicable in such a religious system or whether, due to its unique character Islamic law needs to create its own solution. This comparative approach assesses the possibilities of harmonization between Common law and Islamic law systems and promotes the Islamisation of modern laws in Islamic countries.
