Esta dissertação busca, por meio da literatura infanto-juvenil, avançar no debate de tecnologia e cultura, bem como questionar o papel historicamente assumido pelo gênero. Por meio de obras da literatura infantojuvenil brasileira produzidas entre os anos de 1999 e 2010, busca-se levantar possíveis formas de representação da tecnologia na produção contemporânea e defender sua importância como produção literária. Apresentar a literatura infantojuvenil como plano de fundo para discussões acadêmicas, independentemente do recorte proposto, pode ser um trabalho bastante árduo, especialmente pela pouca valorização que o gênero encontra frente à crítica literária. O diálogo entre tecnologia e cultura, por sua vez, também ainda é pouco divulgado inclusive no campo interdisciplinar de Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade. A linha principal linha teórica que permeia o trabalho é o Materialismo Cultural, proposto por Raymond Williams. / The research about technology and culture makes possible discussions and reflections about society and ways of life. This dissertation intents, through children's literature, to advance the discussion of technology and culture as well as to question the role historically assumed by gender. Through works of Brazilian teenager literature produced between the years 1999 and 2010, we intend to raise possible ways of manifestation of technology in contemporary production and to defend its value as a literary production. Propose the teenager literature as background for academic discussions can be rather arduous, especially because the low value granted to the gender by literary criticism. The dialogue between technology and culture, in turn, is still too little known even in the interdisciplinary field of Science, Technology and Society. As our theoretical basis we resorted to the Cultural Materialism, presented by Raymond Williams.

As suas propriedades físicas, em solução aquosa, são bem conhecidas. No entanto, as propriedades de misturas desse polímero com esses surfactantes não o são. Investigamos a interação de PEG com DODAB e DDAB em solução aquosa, numa faixa de concentração total dos componentes até 1% em peso, e construímos diagramas de fases, com especial destaque para a fase vesicular. Utilizamos PEG com massa molecular entre 200 Da e 2 MDa e os diagramas de fases foram construídos a 25oC, isto é, acima da temperatura de transição gel-líquido cristal (Tm) de DDAB (Tm = 16oC) e abaixo da Tm de DODAB (Tm = 45oC). DODAB e DDAB têm a característica comum de formar vesículas unilamelares em baixas concentrações do surfactante e vesículas multilamelares em concentrações mais elevadas; em regiões intermediárias, vesículas uni e multilamelares coexistem em equilíbrio na solução. A fronteira entre essas regiões de vesículas não é muito bem definida e observamos, neste estudo, que o efeito de PEG na estrutura de agregados de DODAB e DDAB em água depende da massa molecular do polímero. Além disso, PEG favorece a formação de vesículas unilamelares em concentrações mais elevadas de DODAB e DDAB, quando predominam as vesículas multilamelares de DODAB puro (sem o polímero), possibilitando a formação de vesículas mistas de DODAB/PEG e DDAB/PEG em água e concentrações relativamente grandes desses surfactantes. Dentre os métodos experimentais empregados nesse estudo, destacamos, turbidimetria, fluorescência de estado estacionário, calorimetria diferencial de varredura (DSC) e por titulação isotérmica... / Poly (ethyleneglycol) (PEG) is a water soluble neutral polymer, and dioctadecyldimethylammonium (DODAB) and diododecyldimethylammonium (DDAB) bromide are double chain cationic surfactants derived from the quaternary ammonium that have been widely investigated due to their high application potential in different areas of the science and technology. The physical properties of PEG, DODAB and DDAB in aqueous solution are well-known. However, the properties of mixtures of the polymer with those surfactants are not. We investigated the interaction of PEG with DODAB and DDAB in aqueous solution, within a range of total concentration of the components of 0-1 wt%, and the phase diagrams built up, with special interest for the vesicular phases. We used PEG with molecular mass between 200 Da and 2 MDa and the phase diagrams were built up at 25°C, that is, above the melting temperature (Tm) of DDAB (Tm = 16°C) and below Tm of DODAB (Tm = 45°C). DODAB and DDAB have the common characteristic of forming unilamellar vesicles at low surfactant concentrations and umultilamellar vesicles at higher concentrations; at intermediate concentrations, uni- and multilamellar vesicles coexist in solution. The borders of these different vesicle phases are not well defined. We observed in this Thesis that the effect of PEG on the structures of DODAB and DDAB aggregates in water depends on the molecular mass of the polymer. Besides, PEG stabilizes the unilamellar vesicles at high concentrations of DODAB, where the multilamellar vesicles are the dominant structures present in solution, thus allowing the formation of mixed DODAB/PEG and DDAB/PEG vesicles in water at relatively high concentrations of these surfactants. As novas tecnologias de comunicação têm transformado sobremaneira o mundo em que vivemos, incluindo aí a cultura. Neste contexto, muito se discute sobre o futuro da literatura e dos livros, mas este estudo evita especular sobre a permanência ou não do objeto livro e prefere investigar as possibilidades da criação literária diante de novos suportes de leitura, em especial o iPad. Assim como outrora a invenção da imprensa forjou o romance e a popularização das revistas e jornais consolidou o conto moderno, investiga-se de que forma ferramentas próprias das novas tecnologias são utilizadas para a criação de textos literários diferentes do texto impresso, a chamada literatura digital. Para fazer essa comparação, foram usados os dois célebres romances de Lewis Carroll, Alice no País das Maravilhas e Através do Espelho e o que Alice Encontrou por lá, e duas versões da Atomic Antelope, de Chris Stephens, para iPad: Alice for iPad e Alice in New York. Ao final do estudo, que discute também a questão do fim do livro e da literatura, traçando um longo histórico da leitura e contextualizando o livro no que se chama de Era Digital, espera-se mostrar como as possibilidades de criação para plataformas digitais podem ir além do que hoje entendemos por livros, motivo pelo qual a permanência da literatura, independente do seu suporte, está assegurada. / New communication technologies have immensely changed the world in which we live, as well as its culture. Within such context, much has been discussed about the future of literature and books. This study avoided speculating about the persistence of books as physical objects, and, rather, investigated the possibilities of literary creation in face of the new reading media, particularly the iPad. As the invention of the press forged the novel, and the popular spread of magazines and newspapers consolidated modern short stories in the past, we currently investigate how new technological tools may be used to create literary texts, called digital literature, that are different from the print-based text. For this comparison, we used two renowned novels by Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, and two versions of the Atomic Antelope, by Chris Stephens, for iPad: Alice for iPad and Alice in New York. This study also discussed the possible demise of books and literature by outlining the long history of reading that has set the context for books in the Digital Era; Therefore, it demonstrated that the possibilities of literary creation for digital platforms may go beyond what we understand to be books today, which is why the persistence of literature, regardless of what medium it uses, is ensured.

A pesquisa teve como objetivo compreender de que maneiras os usos das tecnologias digitais móveis nas práticas de leitura do gênero romance podem repercutir na formação do leitor na perspectiva do letramento digital e literário. O campo teórico foi o dos estudos da cibercultura aplicados à educação. A metodologia utilizada foi a qualitativa, de cunho descritivo e analítico. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida em duas etapas. A primeira, dedicada à caracterização dos sujeitos, foi feita a partir de um questionário semiestruturado, e a segunda, através da realização de encontros colaborativos de pesquisa de campo, os quais focalizavam a investigação das práticas de leitura literária dos sujeitos participantes intermediadas pelas tecnologias digitais móveis e foram operacionalizados por meio da observação participante e de entrevista semiestruturada em grupo. O lócus do estudo foi o Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia da Bahia - IFBA, Barreiras, e os sujeitos participantes foram 11 estudantes de uma turma de 3º ano do Ensino Médio Integrado do curso Técnico em Informática. A pesquisa revelou que o letramento digital e literário dos alunos pesquisados é pouco fluente, não pela impossibilidade de potencialização por parte dessas tecnologias, mas, dentre outros fatores, devido ao apego excessivo à cultura do impresso, à ausência de uma postura leitora hipertextual e à percepção pouco produtiva em relação aos usos da rede. Também foi possível concluir que, no contexto da pesquisa, o pleno desenvolvimento de um leitor crítico e imersivo, no que tange às categorias do letramento digital e literário, só podem ser construídas diante do entrelaçamento por parte dos sujeitos, das potencialidades dos dispositivos móveis e de objetos técnicos mais apropriados, como leitores digitais, considerando uma imersão efetiva e consciente na cultura digital e na cibercultura, sem os quais os comportamentos do leitor crítico e do leitor imersivo se tornam pontuais. Tecnologias móveis. / ABSTRACT In the context of digital culture, this research investigated the uses of mobile technologies that a group of students makes in order to read novels. The research aimed to understand the ways in which mobile digital technologies in the reading practices of the genre novel may impact on the reader’s formation in the perspective of digital and literary literacy. The theoretical field was the one of cybercultural studies applied to education. The methodology used was the qualitative one, which is descriptive and analytical. The research was developed in two stages. The first one, dedicated to the characterization of the subjects, was made from a semi-structured questionnaire, and the second one, by performing collaborative meetings of field research, which focused on the investigation of literary reading practices of the participants mediated by the mobile digital technologies and they were operationalized by the participant’s observation and a semi structured group interview. The locusof this study was the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia – Campus Barreiras, and the participants were 11 students from the 3rd Integrated Grade of High School Education of the Technical Course of Informatics. The research revealed that literary and digital literacy of the researched students is somewhat fluent, not by the impossibility of augumentation that comes from these technologies, but, among other factors, due to the excessive attachment to the culture of printing, the lack of a hypertextual reading posture and the somewhat productive perception regard to the uses of the net. It was also possible to conclude that, in the context of this research, the full development of a critical and immersive reader when it comes to the categories of literary and digital literacy, can only be built facing the interweaving of the subjects, the potential of mobile devices and more appropriate technical objects, such as digital readers considering an effective and conscious immersion in digital culture and cyberculture, without which the behavior of the critical and immersive reader become punctual. Acompanha produto educacional / A presente dissertação apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa de caráter bibliográfico e exploratório, tendo como principal enfoque o trabalho com best-sellers e ensino de literatura em uma escola de Cornélio Procópio-PR. Os temas principais dessa pesquisa são: literatura de massa, distopia, tecnologias e ensino de literatura. Esses temas possuem uma pesquisa teórica que os fundamenta e que é o alicerce para a elaboração das atividades apresentadas, calcadas principalmente em textos de Adorno; Horkheimer (2009), Candido (2002), Cosson (2012), Clayes (2013) e Eco (2011). A questão que norteia este trabalho é de que maneira a leitura orientada da literatura de massa, apreciada e conhecida pelos alunos, poderia contribuir para a formação de leitores de literatura clássica. Portanto, o principal objetivo do presente trabalho é o de contribuir para a formação de leitores de literatura de proposta (ECO,2011). Este texto versa, por conseguinte, sobre o website e a fan page Admirável Livro Novo construído como produto educacional, das atividades realizadas e aplicadas durante o estágio do programa de Mestrado, utilizando como corpus principal o best-seller Jogos Vorazes, de Susanne Collins, e a distopia 1984 de George Orwell. Assim, os dados coletados revelam a importância de um ensino de literatura que parta de leituras escolhidas e realizadas pelos alunos, evidenciando possibilidades de uma efetiva formação de leitores. / This dissertation presents the results of a bibliographic and exploratory research, with the main focus is the work with best-sellers and literature teaching in a school of Cornélio Procópio-PR. The main research topics are: mass literature, dystopia, technology and literature teaching. These issues have a theoretical research that underlies them and which is the foundation for the elaboration of activities presented, substantiate mainly on texts of Adorno; Horkheimer (2009), Candido (2002), Cosson (2012), Clayes (2013) and Eco (2011). The question that orients is, in which way guided reading of mass literature, appreciated and known by the students, could contribute to the formation of classical literature readers. Thus, the main aim of this work is to form readers of proposal literature (ECO, 2011). This text versa, therefore, on the website and fan page built Brave New book as an educational product, of the activities undertaken and applied during the stage of the Master program, used as the main corpus the best-seller The Hunger Games of Susanne Collins and The Dystopia 1984 of George Orwell. So, the data collected shows the importance of a teaching of literature that starts of reads chosen and performed by the students, showing possibilities of an effective training readers.

Esta pesquisa pretende refletir sobre os quadrinhos de Luiz Gê sobre a Avenida Paulista, considerando o diálogo entre os discursos de paulistanidade e os ideais de modernidade brasileira. A proposta é investigar como o quadrinista constrói narrativamente representações de São Paulo que estabelecem críticas e, simultaneamente, reiteram os símbolos de desenvolvimento industrial, de modernização tecnológica e de principal centro financeiro, econômico e industrial do país. Luiz Gê buscou ambientar muitas de suas histórias na cidade de São Paulo ao longo de sua carreira, tornando a capital bem mais do que apenas um cenário para seus enredos. São Paulo está presente tanto de forma literal, com sua paisagem urbana e seus marcos arquitetônicos – como o túnel da av. 9 de Julho, o prédio do Banespa ou a av. Paulista – como indireta, através de metáforas – como na paródia ao episódio do Grito do Ipiranga. Tentaremos compreender sua produção como parte de um processo de mudança de eixos de poder no Brasil a partir do conceito de “horizonte cultural” proposto por Feenberg (2010), levando em conta sua relação com as questões de hegemonia pertinentes ao momento em que Fragmentos Completos, a história da Avenida Paulista em quadrinhos, é produzida. Outro aspecto a ser analisado é a abordagem que Luiz Gê faz da Avenida Paulista por ocasião de seu centenário, em 1991: um marco urbanístico da cidade que materializa ao mesmo tempo em que representa muitos dos anseios e contradições de São Paulo. / This research intends to reflect about the comics of Luiz Gê about Avenida Paulista, considering the dialogue between the discourses of paulistanity and the ideals of Brazilian modernity. The goal is to investigate how the comics artist builds, through his narrative, representations of São Paulo that establish critics and, simultaneously, reiterate the symbols of industrial development, technological modernization and main financial, economic and industrial center of the country. Luiz Gê sought to set many of his stories in the city of São Paulo throughout his career, making the capital city more than just a scenario for his entanglements. São Paulo is present both literally, with its urban landscape and its architectural landmarks - as the 9 de Julho avenue, the building of Banespa or the Avenida Paulista - as indirect, through metaphors - as the parody of the Grito do Ipiranga episode. We will try to understand his comics as part of a process of change of power axes in Brazil using the concept of “cultural horizon” proposed by Feenberg (2010), taking into account its relation with the questions of hegemony pertinent to the moment in which Fragmentos completos (Complete Fragments), the story of Avenida Paulista in comics, is produced. Another aspect to be analyzed is Luiz Gê’s approach to Avenida Paulista on the occasion of its centenary, in 1991: an urban landmark of the city that materializes at the same time that it represents many of São Paulo’s yearnings and contradictions.

Ao final do estudo, que discute também a questão do fim do livro e da literatura, traçando um longo histórico da leitura e contextualizando o livro no que se chama de Era Digital, espera-se mostrar como as possibilidades de criação para plataformas digitais podem ir além do que hoje entendemos por livros, motivo pelo qual a permanência da literatura, independente do seu suporte, está assegurada. / New communication technologies have immensely changed the world in which we live, as well as its culture. Within such context, much has been discussed about the future of literature and books. This study avoided speculating about the persistence of books as physical objects, and, rather, investigated the possibilities of literary creation in face of the new reading media, particularly the iPad. As the invention of the press forged the novel, and the popular spread of magazines and newspapers consolidated modern short stories in the past, we currently investigate how new technological tools may be used to create literary texts, called digital literature, that are different from the print-based text. For this comparison, we used two renowned novels by Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, and two versions of the Atomic Antelope, by Chris Stephens, for iPad: Alice for iPad and Alice in New York. This study also discussed the possible demise of books and literature by outlining the long history of reading that has set the context for books in the Digital Era; Therefore, it demonstrated that the possibilities of literary creation for digital platforms may go beyond what we understand to be books today, which is why the persistence of literature, regardless of what medium it uses, is ensured.
