Preparação e caracterização de pentóxido de vanádio mesoporoso e reações de intercalação / Synthesis and characterization of mesoporous vanadium pentoxide and intercalation reaction

Guerra, Elidia Maria 17 August 2007 (has links)
Synthesis, characterization of vanadium pentoxide mesoporous and studies of properties of hybrids compound based on vanadium oxide xerogel and vanadium pentoxide mesoporous, intercalated with guest species have been the main of this thesis. The interest in those materials, that present a considerable structural and chemical modification, is due to the possibility to tailor specific properties and produce new materials to application in optic, catalysis, electronic displays and sensors. The hybrid compounds were obtained from intercalation reaction utilizing templates agent such cetylpyridinium chloride and polymerics species such polyethylene oxide and poly o-methoxyaniline into the oxide. The synthesis is simple and relatively fast, and those materials are obtained, in a maximum, 10 days, even though it is not necessary the monitoring during the preparation and dry. The experimental results show an increase of interplanar, as well as, electrochemical properties of composites presented a better stability after several cycles as compared to vanadium pentoxide xerogel, indicating an intercalation reaction. Another stage of this work was to obtain the mesoporous vanadium pentoxide. The presence of porous was confirmed by adsorption isothermal method. Afterwards, it was realized the intercalation reaction with the polyethylene oxide and poly o-methoxyaniline into the matrix. The intercalation reaction using polymers into the porous matrix resulted an increase of Li+ ions mobility as well as an increase of total charge during the redox reaction resulting a synergic effect. In this context, it can be state that, the method used showed extremely attractive due to its simple synthesis, as well as it has the possibility of obtain materials with potential application such electrochemical displays, batteries and chemical sensors.

Étude de nouvelles voies de dépôt du matériau d'électrode positive LiCoO2 pour la réalisation de micro-accumulateurs 3D à haute capacité surfacique / Study of new deposition routes of LiCoO2 positive electrode material for 3D high specific capacity microbatteries

Porthault, Hélène 26 September 2011 (has links)
The miniaturization of electronic systems is today a main topic of research and requires an important evolution of energy sources. All solid state micro-batteries are a perfectly adapted solution for this need. However, their specific capacity is limited to 50-200 µAh.cm-2 due to the difficulty to use films of active materials thickness over than 5 µm. One of the answers to enhance micro-batteries specific capacity is to deposit materials on textured substrate. Nevertheless, classical vacuum deposition techniques are not adapted to deposit conformal thin films on such surfaces because of shadow effects. The aim of this PhD-work was to develop new synthesis routes to realize 3D all solid state micro-batteries. Two chemical synthesis routes were studied: the sol-gel method and the electrodeposition under hydrothermal conditions. The sol-gel synthesis was not efficient to realize conformal and dense films. However, this technique was very effective to obtain rhombohedra LiCoO2 powders with high specific surface, without grinding step, at moderate temperature (600-700°C). The electrodeposition under hydrothermal conditions was very promising, both for its high deposition rate (up to 300 nm.mn-1) and its low synthesis temperature (from 125°C) without any annealing. The synthesized films exhibited excellent electrochemical performances in liquid electrolyte and a conformity higher than 97 % on textured substrates.

Synthèse et caractérisation de nouveaux phosphates utilisés comme matériaux d’électrode positive pour batteries au lithium / Synthesis and characterization of new phosphates used as positive electrode materials for lithium batteries

Marx, Nicolas 17 December 2010 (has links)
This work deals with the synthesis and characterization of new positive electrode materials for lithium batteries. Our researches were mainly focused on phosphates of transition metals, and especially on the tavorite-type materials of composition (H,Li)FePO4(OH). Their structure is characterized by a three-dimensional network with different types of tunnels, which can host inserted lithium ions. In this context, LiFePO4(OH) structure was perfectly solved, as well as that of FePO4.H2O, which is a new iron (III) phosphate discovered during this work. These two materials, together with those obtained by heat-treatment of FePO4.H2O, were characterized using different analytical techniques. Their electrochemical behavior toward intercalation / deintercalation of lithium was also studied, as well as the structural and redox processes involved.

Synthèses de nanocarbones fluorés pour le stockage électrochimique de l'énergie / Syntheses of fluorinated nanocarbons for electrochemical energy storage

Ahmad, Yasser 04 October 2013 (has links)
For primary lithium batteries, the lithium anode can be coupled mainly four cathode materials (MnO2, SO2, SOCl2 and fluorinated carbons CFx). Li/CFx batteries have many inherent advantages such as high energy density (up to 2200 Wh.kg-1), a moderately high discharge potential (about 2.4 V vs. Li+/Li) and a long life (over 10 years at room temperature). During this work, the electrochemical performances in primary lithium battery of nanostructured fluorinated carbons were investigated. To improve their performances, carbonaceous precursors with different dimensionalities, and various gas-solid fluorination methods were selected. Thus, a closed structure such as carbon nanofibres (1D, tubular), opened such as carbon nanodiscs/nanocones (2D in majority, discotic) and intermediate with graphitized carbon blacks have been chosen. Each synthesis route was optimized based on the starting material and their specificities, i.e. the shape factor, dimensionality, graphitization degree, stacking mode. To address to the limitations of commercial CFx materials, their discharge mechanism has been studied in order to improve the understanding about the electrochemical defluorination of a CFx cathode, and to compare it to original CFx synthesized in our laboratory, the main purpose is to exceed the current performances and to synthesize unrealized materials for primary lithium battery. Extracapacities in Li/CFx batteries were obtained with some specific fluorinated nanocarbon materials and their explanation was discussed.

Caradant, Léa 10 1900 (has links)
The research carried out during this PhD is focused on the study and optimization of polymer blends, used as solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) in lithium and lithium-ion batteries. All components of the battery must be shaped by a solvent-free process (extrusion), in order to limit impacts of the solvent on the battery properties and improve the production process (reduce toxicity and production time). To achieve these objectives, a study was first conducted on a set of polymer blends, selected on the basis of their individual properties, with particular emphasis on the interactions between the lithium salt and each polymer. A ranking of the lithium salt solvating ability of these polymers was developed and revealed that the main factor affecting these interactions is the donor number of polar functional groups on the polymer backbones. The effects of these interactions on the ionic transport phenomena in blend electrolytes have been examined. Subsequent work focused on polymer couples with the most promising and complementary properties, such as poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) or polycaprolactone (PCL), which exhibit high ionic conductivities, and a hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) with interesting mechanical properties but a lower ionic conductivity. It was concluded that these blends show encouraging properties, compared to single-polymer SPEs, such as higher ionic conductivities over a wide temperature range, as well as improved mechanical and thermal stability properties. The final research project was the optimization of these blend electrolytes using an innovative method of selective cross-linking of one of the polymer phases. The main aim of this thesis was to develop an efficient prototype of an all-solid-state lithium battery, entirely obtained by extrusion, in which both the electrolyte and the binder of the composite electrodes are composed of optimized polymer electrolytes. The promising results obtained have led to the filing of a patent, in association with the industrial partner (TotalEnergies).

Method development for testing propulsion batteries at a workshop : Parameter identification through experiments and investigation of challenges with workshop implementation / Metodutveckling för test av batterier vid verkstad : Parameteridentifikation genom experiment och studie om utmaningar för verkstadsimplementering

Strinnholm, Kim January 2020 (has links)
The electrification within the automotive industry goes faster than ever, which drives an increased demand for more knowledge about batteries. Vehicle manufacturers should be able to tell how long the batteries will last and have a service program for electrified vehicles, just as there is for traditional, fuel-driven ones. Scania is in the process of developing new service methods for their hybrids and fully electrified vehicles where this thesis has been a part of this development by investigating the possibilities of having a workshop test to measure the capacity of the propulsion batteries.  During the thesis, essential parameters for cycling the batteries and measure the capacity with high accuracy have been identified and investigated by conducting lab tests. In parallel to defining the properties of a successful capacity measurement, the implementation of such a measurement at a workshop has been studied alongside a brief discussion about scheduling strategies. Conducting a capacity measurement in a workshop environment introduce new challenges, and the critical question arises, how long can the capacity measurement take? It is identified that the state of charge window size, the temperature, and the relaxation time are essential parameters to control. From the experimental part of the thesis, it can be concluded that the start temperature should lay in the range of 15-25 °C with a relaxation time of 5-10 minutes providing a satisfying accuracy. A SOC window size of 20-80% seems to be the most optimal balance between time spent and accuracy in the measurement. Furthermore, it is identified that the workshop's equipment is heavily influencing the time it takes to conduct a test. It is concluded that it is necessary to be able to charge and discharge the batteries.

Zhang, Yuanci 15 March 2019 (has links)
In the context of progress in the electrochemical energy storage systems in the transport field, especially in the aeronautics, the issues of performance, reliability, safety and robustness of these elements are essential for users. This thesis is focused on these issues for the more electric aircraft. The technologies studied correspond to the latest generation commercial elements of Lithium-ion batteries (NMC/ graphite + SiO, NCA/graphite, LFP/graphite, NMC/LTO), Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S), Supercapacitor and Lithium-ion capacitors. The first part of this manuscript is dedicated to the performance quantification of the different electrochemical energy storage elements in aeronautical environment [-20°C, 55°C] and usage. An efficient and accurate electro-thermal model is developed and validated. The second part is devoted to the calendar and power cycling ageings as well as to the presentation of abuse testing results. A State Of Health (SOH) estimation based on incremental capacity analysis method is proposed. Finally, the robustness of the storage elements during accelerated ageing tests with a specific profile for the aeronautical usage is evaluated. The ageing models and SOH estimation methods proposed in the previous sections are used here to evaluate the impact of temperature on the degradation rate and to estimate the SOH of the cells with this aeronautical profile.

Al jed, Habib 15 December 2014 (has links)
This thesis aims to study the influence of fast charging on the aging of lithium batteries, and its impact on the performances of electric vehicles as part of a postal use. The first part is devoted to the modeling of lithium batteries with an equivalent electric circuit model, whose parameters could be identified using linear characterization tests. The second part is dedicated to the study of aging, and results in an aging estimator using data collected from accelerated aging tests programs. Then the postal usage is studied, and a power profile representative of the actual load on the battery is provided. The latter was used to validate the model of the battery in the field of postal use. Then the postal use is studied, and a current profile representative of the real behavior of the battery is provided. This profile was used to validate the model of the battery in the postal use domain. Then a model of electric vehicles is presented, it integrates the battery model, which can simulates the aging state of the battery using the ageing estimator. Finally, the various possible strategies of recharge are listed and compared, which leads to conclusions about their influences on aging of batteries, and the vehicles performance.
