A experiência religiosa e o sentido da vida no pensamento de Viktor Emil Frankl / The religious experience and the meaning of life according to the thought (philosophy) of Viktor Emil Frankl.

Nunes, Claudio Luis 05 February 2014 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Claudio Luis Nunes.pdf: 718275 bytes, checksum: 6e0d1e574a89204967599b28e8cf6a20 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2014-02-05 / Viktor Emil Frankl s thought (philosophy) concerning the meaning of life is relevant and pertinent, because there is still a universal clamor for this meaning, which is heard especially in urban areas where the masses are concentrated. It looks as though the larger the concentration of people, the greater the globalization of the world advances, the louder this cry for help is heard. This cry for a meaningful life is present both in the young as well as in older adults in all social classes. The world has lived through transformations and an existential vacuum is visible in the individual of today s society; the sensation of the lack of meaning, an interior emptiness. Beginning with this observation, this research has as its objective to demonstrate that it is possible to find meaning to life, having as a fundamental presupposition the discovery of the meaning of life by each person and the use of the cognitive power of the individual mind. It is only through this presupposition that it is possible to understand the reason why Frankl dedicated himself to the topic of the meaning of life emphasizing the role of faith, religiosity and logotherapy as the answer for the question about the meaning [of life] that has as its objective to widen the horizon of the human being, thus showing that, to all who can still be enthusiastic about something, there could still be much to do a significant number of tasks awaits them. Therefore, there is enough meaning.

A concepção de religiosidade na obra de Viktor Emil Frankl / The conception of religiousness in the work of Viktor Emil Frankl

Corrêa, Diogo Arnaldo 11 June 2013 (has links)

No. of bitstreams: 1 Diogo Arnaldo Correa.pdf: 652872 bytes, checksum: c5609f7b45c0e0a03fd76ec865e18574 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2013-06-11 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / The objective of this study was to understand the concept of religiousness in the work of Viktor Emil Frankl. Were described his biography and his work and conducted a thematic analysis from fourteen of his books chosen due to their correlation with the purpose of the research. Frankl's ideas were investigated in chronological course of their work, and possible extensions in regard to the subject were averaged and displayed through five topics "God", "Faith", "Religion", "Religiousness" and "Psychotherapy and Religiosity." Finally, spelled out the understandings reached and final considerations. Frankl believes humans broadly, total single, integrated. His anthropological perspective cooperates directly to a performance that includes psychotherapy patients beyond reductionism and consider their existential possibilities. Such possibilities unfold through the capabilities of self-transcendence, consciousness, freedom and responsibility, and aid in discovery of the meaning of life by conducting creative values, experiential and attitudinal. Among such existential possibilities of the human being appreciated for Logotherapy, religiosity can be considered as a potential that arises spontaneously and is also configured from religious and cultural contexts. For Frankl, psychotherapy can legitimately occupy the religious because it relates to the deepest dimension of the human being and the positions he takes over the world and that it is when there is a free choice and responsible attitudes marked by intuition of his consciousness, which sets religiosity as one of the possibilities for gift of life sense. Therefore, the therapist must help the patient accept and considering it in its entirety and conserving open to receive their experiences, including those that are marked by religiosity, the natural and personal relationships with the sacred, linked to its inherent search for meaning, can derive the discovery of meaning to their existence and to promote their quality of life / O objetivo desse estudo foi compreender a concepção de religiosidade na obra de Viktor Emil Frankl.

The Ghostwriter Writes No More: Narrative Logotherapy and the Mystery of My Namesake

Herrmann, Andrew F. 01 September 2016 (has links)
This narrative articulates the advantages of long-term autoethnographic logotherapy. I explore how the practice of long-term autoethnographic logotherapy led me to the point where I was prepared for my father’s death, and how that allowed me to let him go before he actually died. I propose that long-term personal narrative and autoethnographic writing are not merely a form of therapy and healing. Rather, it is a practice aligned with existential psychologist Victor Frankl’s conception of logotherapy, literally “healing through meaning.” Using vignettes, I interrogate canonical narratives about father–son relationships, especially focusing on troubled relationships, and examine standard notions of bereavement.

Buscas adolescentes e aconselhamento pastoral à luz da logoterapia

Vicente Gregório de Sousa Filho 10 March 2011 (has links)
With so many changes and concerns raised by the so-called postmodern, many senses of values and socio-cultural determinations in crisis before the interpellation marked by neoliberal notion of commodity. The new technologies also promoted new views and perspectives that generate a new way of dealing with subjectivity. Thus, this work seeks to understand how is the search for meaning among adolescents from the notion of Logotherapy, articulated by Viktor Frankl, and as the approach to counseling can to help in the search for existential referrals. We will discuss the logotherapeutic concepts in order to aid the process of pastoral counseling of adolescents and guide toward a reasonable insights of vocational guidance.

Logomúsica: a criação de um novo approach musicoterápico como veículo na promoção da saúde mental / Logomusic: the creation of a new music therapy approach as tool in the promotion of mental health

Juliana Leonardi 31 August 2011 (has links)
This research aimed to create a new music therapy approach inspired in logotherapy as a tool to promote mental health. Logomusic is a music therapy approach created by the researchers through the combination of logotherapy and music therapy, with existentialhumanistic and cultural foundation, in a context of intervention and research. A study group with 15 users from a Psychosocial Care Center was set, with interventions lasting for 10 months, through weekly 1-hour meetings. Field work had involvement of three participant-observers, trained for registering on the field diary and audiovisual recording, and a music therapist as co-therapist playing the piano, guitar and percussion. The following procedures were carried out: individual interviews with researchers, period of participant observation, implementation of music therapy cycles, joint construction of a poetic-musical play (based on protagonist roles), organization of an artistic-therapeutic show and a closing community circle for sharing with participants. The values of the research-subjects, from this process, revealed the importance of the role of freedom, responsibility, protagonist roles, music and creative processes in the promotion of mental health. The meanings shared and reported by the research-subjects in this research-action study were: a) talk circles about values as empowering experiences for health, responsibility and freedom; b) the group creative process (knowhow) as tools to learn new skills for dealing with practical issues on a daily basis; c) the access and sharing of the musical biography as an opportunity for existential rooting (identity and memory); d) the poetic-musical improvisation as a space for the exercise of knowing to be and knowing to live with; e) the joint creative process (construction of a poetic-musical play) as an accomplishment of the meaning of participants\' lives (custom-made projects and the sense of renewal of the community) and, f) logomusic, which was built on the pillars of the noetic, the protagonist role, of the dialogue and the collective musical creativity, revealing itself as a valuable tool in promoting mental health.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Alcilene Evangelista Campos Rodrigues.pdf: 112814 bytes, checksum: 03c48b2ca41c5dc909bc9f5b05716876 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2009-08-05 / This work starts with the presupposition that the psychological methods, though they are prepared from a vision centered in the man and, in most of the cases, reject completely the idea of God, they cannot be disregarded in their totality, because, anyway, they provide elements that can and must be used in the context of the biblical counseling. Even some more radical subdivisions, which even deny the existence or the necessity of any spirituality for the human being, contain elements that point out searches that are common to the counseling. The inter-relation psychology-counseling remains, to a certain extent, nowadays, isolated, due to the resistance of part of the Biblical Counseling proponents that insist in rejecting any use of the secular systems. However, there are some moments, that it is shown with more or less understanding and making efforts to list and to check the applicability of these points of contact is necessary. For that, it is needed to reconsider the cooperation occurred in the end of the nineteenth (19th) century and to develop this study to the slopes appeared during the twentieth (20th) century. In this sense, it can be considered, in this work, the applicability of the Logotherapy system, defended by the existentialist psychologist Viktor Emil Frankl as a useful tool to the pastoral care, considering the contributions of the counseling model and Gary R. Collins integrationist point of view.

Exploring how unresolved trauma contributes towards stuckness within intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships : applying somatic experiencing and logotherapy interventions

Silva, Julie Daymon McLeod E. 06 1900 (has links)
The study undertook to explore the notion of stuckness within interpersonal and intrapersonal relationship dynamics. Stuckness has different presentations and can pertain to an individual’s’ inability to move beyond a particular challenge, or find resolution to one or more persistent problems. Alternatively, the stymied dynamic could manifest as a person becoming consistently highly activated or triggered. This has negative ramifications, within both interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships. Therapeutically, psychological stuckness is frequently encountered, and a lack of resolution of past trauma, is speculated as being a contributory factor. A qualitative, explorative research study was conducted over a period of one year, to collect data. The research design consisted of five case studies of participants who engaged in approximately one year of therapy. Participants were seen fortnightly, by a clinical psychologist, who is also the researcher of the study. The notes taken in the therapy sessions, as well as other qualitative methods, were utilised to collect the data. The data was analysed for themes formulated by the researcher, which themes correlated with the principles of the two schools of thought applied in the study. Logotherapy and somatic experiencing are the therapeutic interventions, which were included in the research method. These approaches were utilised in an endeavour to explore their efficacy, in resolving stuckness, speculated as being due to unprocessed trauma. Participation in the study was voluntary and boundaries of ethical codes, as well as values of psychotherapeutic therapy adhered to. There was no monetary exchange for the therapy received, and no costs incurred to the participants, in the research study. The presence of a long-standing persistent problem, or issue (stuckness) that had belied resolution, was the main criteria for inclusion in the study. The research explored the possible association between unresolved trauma, as well as various types of interpersonal, and intrapersonal stuckness. Impulsivity, explosive tempers, irrationality, emotionality and bizarre acting out behaviours, are some of the presentations, that the study speculated, as being due to unprocessed traumatic energy. A contribution of this research is that there is an absence of any prior studies conducted which explores stuckness and its correlation with unresolved trauma. In addition, no other research assessing the combined, top-down, and bottom-up efficacy of the therapeutic approaches of logotherapy and somatic experiencing were sourced. Payne, et al. (2015 b) state that they could not find evidence of more than five papers which provided case studies on somatic experiencing as a trauma intervention. The number of studies undertaken on somatic experiencing in general, is also significantly limited (Changaris, 2010; Samardzic, 2010). This adds to the value, meaning and purpose of this research, as it is a unique endeavour, motivated by the researcher’s intention to add more value to individuals’ lives, especially when the presenting problem, appears to be unfathomable stuckness. In an absence of any understanding for the reasons for such stuckness, these people may experience significant distress at being stymied, within the self, or in relation to others, as well as feel at a loss for any possible recourse. This study could prompt other researchers to conduct similar investigations, not only of the combined body-based, and cognitive psychotherapuetic interventions, but also of the link between stymied interpersonal, as well as intrapersonal relationship dynamics, and trauma. The application of a mind, body and soul approach in the study, through the inclusion of logotherapy, is also relevant. In reviewing the direction of psychological fields, one can detect that the trends are towards constructs such as meditation, enlightenment, consciousness, meaning, purpose, mindfulness, presence, and spiritual identity. Individuals are seeking more enlightenment, and want to explore more of the noetic dimension, which I believe psychotherapy has to include, in order to meet the needs of an evolving society. / Psychology / D.Phil. In search of a revised model of health : exploring the relationship between meaning and health

Van Wyk, Hanlie 06 1900 (has links)
Research in Logotherapy substantiates the influence of meaning on psychological health and Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) corroborates the effects of psychological health on physical health. This dissertation explores the relationship between meaning and physical health hypothesising that purpose affects physical health. Methodology Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), ANOVAs and stepwise regression were used to explore three possible models. Results EFA revealed four factors, purpose, fear, vitality and aggression. Significant correlations were found between purpose, vitality (0.42) and work application (0.53). Despite the significant relationship between purpose and vitality, the lack of Chi-square is significant, suggesting that additional variables should be introduced into the model. Conclusion People reporting high levels of purpose together with low levels of fear and aggression, can be characterised by high vitality and an absence of medical conditions. Future research should focus on evaluating meaning centred interventions on immunity and vitality. / Psychology / M.A. (Psychology)

Nilsson, Hanna, Kastberg, Eva Carina January 2008 (has links)

/
When denied the right to a permanent residence permit, a refugee can, for various reasons, be forced to lead a life in hiding. A common reason for this is the fear of what awaits in the country of origin. As a result, the “denied” chooses to proceed into a life without access to any societal rights rather than return home. The lack of organized support in such a situation contributes to difficult material, physical as well as psychological consequences. The manner each individual has of handling these are highly dependent upon their reasons for fleeing, as well as the support they receive. To achieve a broader understanding of a life in hiding, the factors that influence the manner the affected refugee can handle, as well as create meaning and content in his/her situation, have been investigated. Subsequently, the following questions were asked: 1) which factors are described as significant in regards to the refugee’s ability to handle a life in hiding? 2) In which ways do these factors affect the refugee’s ability to handle his/her everyday life? 3) How is the support of the social network described, and in which ways can this support help create a meaningful existence? 4) Are there any patterns to be found in the narratives of the informants that can contribute to a meaningful existence? In this study, a qualitative method was used comprising semi-structured interviews with three refugees having lead lives in hiding. Interview questions were developed using the study’s theoretical framework, consisting of logotherapy, KASAM and social support. As these perspectives were combined, social support proved to be an important component in both logotherapy and KASAM. The study concluded that practical circumstances, a social network as well as the “outlook on life” were essential to enable the creation of meaning in the hidden individual’s life. Close relationships were demonstrated as the most vital aspect, as they offer emotional, social as well as self-strengthening support. In addition to this, personal feelings, existential questioning and a primary occupation are needed to create meaning. These must be valued as important to achieve KASAM.
