Knowledge and practices of supervisors on the performance management and development system at a primary health care facilities in the Greater Tzaneen Sub-district, Limpopo Province

Mashego, Rosemary Hlulekle January 2016 (has links)
Thesis (MPH.) -- University of Limpopo, 2016. / The South African government has introduced PMDS as a tool to monitor and manage the performances of departments, institutions, teams and individuals in order to improve service delivery, and to counteract the legacy of poor performance. In order for the government to achieve this goal, PMDS implementers must be equipped with adequate knowledge and skills which will enable them to implement the system correctly, in compliance with the standards and procedures laid down in the government PMDS policy. The aim of the study was to determine the knowledge and practices of PMDS of supervisors who are tasked with the responsibility to supervise their subordinates. Methods A cross sectional descriptive quantitative study was carried out in the Greater Tzaneen Primary Health Care facilities. A total of 117 participants comprising of professional nurses, operational managers and assistant managers completed the questionnaires. These comprised largely of close-ended questions and some open- ended questions. Analysis of data was done using statistical software, SPSS 22.0 version and results were interpreted. Results Generally all the respondents had average (65.8%) understanding of the PMDS processes including the purpose and their roles as supervisors. However, a gap exists between the theoretical knowledge and the actual ability to practise PMDS which was found to be around 52%. There are areas of weakness that still need attention: unavailability of PMDS guidelines, lack of training of both supervisors and employees. Lastly, the nature of challenges which the respondents reported regarding PMDS implementation signifies that there might be underlying problems with PMDS which were not covered by this study, and these challenges, by far outweigh their confident knowledge and ability to practise PMDS. v Conclusion To improve the knowledge and ability to supervise PMDS, the following recommendations were brought forth: proper induction of all PMDS supervisors and periodic in-service training, PMDS policy manuals as a source of reference to be made available in the facility and all supervisors to be orientated how to use them.

Design and Implementation of Shop Floor Management Information System at BOSCH Rexroth AB

Li, Xin January 2017 (has links)
This master thesis is conducted as a conclusion of Master of Science degree in Production Engineering and Management at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The focus of this thesis work is to make the work more convenient and improve production efficiency by building a management information system (MIS) thus replacing manual and decentralized information management mode on the shop floor. With the use of the computers in the office and tablets beside the machine of each work center on the shop floor, personnel can have access to the necessary information easily and quickly.   This management information system is built according to the actual production situation and needs in Bosch Rexroth AB in Mellansel. First, research on the production process and the management mode in the factory is conducted. Then, the form and the architecture of the system are decided. After thorough understanding and comparison, web application form and currently widely used Browser/Server (B/S) architecture are adopted. Finally, during the detailed design and system implementation process, databases and functional modules are developed. Microsoft Access is chosen as the database implementation. Microsoft Visual Studio.NET combined with C# language and IIS (Internet Information Service) is chosen as the application development tool. When conducting the user trial test on the shop floor, functions of this application system well meet the requirements, and associates can easily and quickly access the information. This application system can speed up the information flow in production, realizing more scientific, standardized and efficient management, which ultimately promotes the production and management of the enterprise.   This management information system realizes the following functions in a digitized way: 1. system security management: user registration, log in and permission settings; 2. drawings viewing; 3. instructions viewing; 4. maintenance recording and checking; 5. deviation reporting and processing; 6. process confirmation recording and checking.

Efficient information and knowledge distribution in high-tech production units utilizing graphical user interfaces / Effektiv informations- och kunskapsspridning inom högteknologiska produktionsenheter genom grafiska användargränssnitt

Fall, Jakob, Klinc, Rebecca January 2016 (has links)
This study aims to examine potential efficiency gains within a manufacturing unit by implementing processes for knowledge and information distribution. A specialized software tool, implementing processes for knowledge and information distribution, was developed and then examined to see if any efficiency gains could be accomplished. The scientific questions to be addressed were: Will well-defined strategies and processes for information and knowledge management lead to higher efficiency within a manufacturing unit? Is a specialized software a useful tool and how should it be designed to facilitate efficient information and knowledge management? With the help of information management theories, interviews and a field study five main problem areas were found. To counter the problem areas and approach the technical aspect of this study human-computer interactions theories were used to develop three prototypes in an iterative process. The third and final prototype was evaluated by using user testing and interview questions. We found that well-defined strategies and processes for information and knowledge management lead to higher efficiency within a manufacturing unit. By using the specialized software tool it will be easier to facilitate efficient information and knowledge management and that general rules on how to create such a software exists. Due to the result and reactions from the employees our recommendations is for FLIR Systems AB to conduct an implementation study using our software as the frontend.

Grip, Oskar, Lager, Viktor, Svensson, Jakob January 2016 (has links)
Background: Elite football clubs exist in a special situation. They operates in a industry where its difficult to generate enough revenue, meantime costs are driven up due to their need of generate sucess in the sport. It therefore becomes very important how to manage their finances and steering it in the right direction.   Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to describe and explain the financials role in a number of Swedish elite football clubs.   Method: Our essay is a qualitative study where we mixed convenience- and quota sampling. The empirical gathering was conducted through interviews using a semi-structured approach. Interviews have been made with either a Club Manager, CFO or sports director in seven diffrent clubs.   Conclusions: Elite football club sexists in an uncertain enciroment in which a well-implementated managament control system is necessary. The budget is the most important instrument for the clubs, but there are also a number of other instruments such as compensations, performance measurement, calculation and benchmark. Situational factors such as enviroment, culure and size has contributed wich has led to that the clubs have a great economic awareness today where economic results will lead to the sport result. We have with this study concluded that financial management has played a critical role in the club´s long-term objectives.

Why the annual budget is not dead : Contingencies affecting the relevance of the budget critique

Berg, Anton, Karlsson, Fredric January 2014 (has links)
The aim of this study is to investigate how companies within different industries that use budgets perceive the critique that has been raised against it. As such, this study explores whether the companies find the critique valid and if so, whether and how they have managed to cope with the problems that the budget has been argued to entail. Additionally, this study explores the potential impact that the external and internal context of the budget may have on these perceptions. Utilizing on a qualitative case study research design, our findings indicate that the relevance of the critique is contextually contingent with regards to both the external and the internal environment of a company. Consequently, the likelihood for the alleged problems of the budget to appear is greater when the alignment between a company’s external and internal environment and the employed budget purpose is poor, and/or when the budget’s cohesiveness with other management control systems within a certain management control system-package is deficient. Thus, in contrast to the critics, we argue that budgets should not be seen as a static and stand-alone practice as it evidently constitute a multifaceted and contingent practice.
