No. of bitstreams: 1 VIRGINIA SALES GEBRIM.pdf: 767679 bytes, checksum: aa264e25b10f19893bd66c02025b3237 (MD5) Previous issue date: 2006-12-13 / Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico / The aim of this study is to analyze and investigate a pioneering editorial project, the Education Library collection, directed towards Brazilian teacher formation, which was organized and headed by Lourenço Filho. Through this study it is hoped to understand better and in greater depth the contributions of psychology to education, which aimed at the formation of a pedagogical culture on the child, especially in the 1920s and 30s. By means of an analysis of two select works: Adolphe Ferriere s The Biogenetic law and the active school and Lourenço Filho s Testes ABC para verificação da maturidade necessária à aprendizagem da leitura e da escrita, an effort was made to focus on the theories and pedagogical formulations, arising out of a psychological knowledge which at that time very possibly contributed to sustaining, informing and producing a concept of the child. These studies indicate that the formulations proposed in this discussion present a perspective on learning which, as a rule, subordinates the child to a psychometric perspective, while highlighting the school as a socializing institution. Given this fact, there is evidence that the knowledge of experimental psychology, proposed in these studies, would favor the mechanisms for social advancement, legitimized by psycho-technical procedures, which, in the name of science, were spread and disseminated among Brazilian educators / Este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar e investigar um projeto editorial pioneiro, voltado para a formação do professorado brasileiro, a Coleção Bibliotheca de Educação , dirigida e organizada por Lourenço Filho.

MODERNIDADES CONTRA-NATURA: CRÍTICA ILUSTRADA, PRENSA PERIÓDICA Y CULTURA MANUSCRITA EN EL SIGLO XVIII AMERICANO

Sedeño-Guillén, Kevin R. 01 January 2017 (has links)
This dissertation studies the emergence of literary history and criticism in the Americas during the eighteenth century. It focuses upon the study of 1.) Natural history as a matrix of literary history and criticism; 2.) The geopolitical functions of literary history and criticism in the periodical press; and 3.) The recovery of manuscripts as a residual product of modernity. Texts associated with a hegemonic Enlightenment, such as “Disertación sobre el derecho público universal” by Francisco Javier de Uriortúa, are analyzed. Next, we study modern historical-critical thought as emphasized in the periodical press of Bogotá and Quito. Finally, the circulation of manuscripts is studied as an indicator of the participation of Spanish American authors in discussions about the Enlightenment. For the latter, the dissertation analyzes the development of theories of good taste in El Nuevo Luciano de Quito by Eugenio Espejo and in the Plan elementál del buen gusto en todo genéro de materias by Manuel del Socorro Rodríguez de la Victoria. The study challenges the epistemological conflict provoked by the handwritten condition of a considerable portion of scholarship from the eighteenth century, in which the projects of an American modernity become subjugated by the power of European print.

NGO involvement in the UN Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm 1972. Interrelations Between Intergovernmental Discourse Framing and Activist Influence.

Nilsson, Peter January 2004 (has links)
<p>The UN Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm 1972 has been recognized as bringing political attention to environmental problems. Researchers have acknowledged the importance of NGO activities during the conference, initiating a trend of engagement of NGOs in official global meetings. But NGOs were not permitted to speak at the plenary or participate in working groups in the official Conference. The influence of NGOs could still be substantial but in another arenas delivering perceptions, knowledge and information to the general public and officials, directly or through the intense media coverage of the conference. NGOs engaged in these parallel activities and individuals in the official initiating process are central to this research. </p><p>The purpose of this study is to analyze how Swedish NGOs and their related networks influenced environmental discourses during and following the UN conference on the human environment in Stockholm 1972. The purpose is also to analyze how they in turn were effected by the conference process and the context in which NGOs function. </p><p>This study is concerned with how social movements became engaged in official global meetings and the effects of this process. It is a study of the interrelations between intergovernmental discourse framing and activist influence. To understand this we take in consideration what motivated the actions of relevant actors, how actors selected strategies to obtain there purposes and how diverse frames of understanding emerged.</p>

El bildungsroman en el Caribe hispano / The Bildungsroman in the Spanish Caribbean

Lorenzo Feliciano, Violeta 31 August 2011 (has links)
This dissertation examines the bildungsroman genre in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. A close examination of the development of this genre demonstrates that it has ideological implications that link the young protagonists’ development with that of the nation. The authors on whom I focus—Ángela Hernández, Rita Indiana Hernández, René Marqués, Pedro Juan Soto, Magali García Ramis, Severo Sarduy, and Jesús Díaz—do not merely imitate the European model but revise, adapt, and often subvert it thematically and, in some cases, aesthetically. I argue that these bildungsromane differ, for the most part, from the European prototype due to their openly political themes, such as the establishment of the Estado Libre Asociado in Puerto Rico, the 1959 Revolution in Cuba, and, in the case of the Dominican Republic, Trujillo’s dictatorship. I claim that Dominican bildungsromane do not propose national projects or models but rather question the purported homogeneity of identity of the country as a normalized political body. On the other hand, in Cuba and Puerto Rico the genre has been used to promote absolute discourses of nationality as well as political projects that must be questioned due to their discriminatory and sometimes racist and violent nature.

Pérez Abellán, María Encarnación 14 September 2012 (has links)
Éste es el objetivo perseguido en el análisis de obras significativas de Juan Valera (Morsamor, 1899), Benjamín Jarnés (Viviana y Merlín, 1930), Álvaro Cunqueiro (Merlín y familia, 1955), Manuel Mujica Láinez (El unicornio, 1965), Paloma Díaz-Mas (La búsqueda del Santo Grial, 1983), Soledad Puértolas (La rosa de plata, 1999) y Ana María Matute (Olvidado Rey Gudú, 1996) / he main proposal of this research has been connecting the ancient chivalry plots with a group of modern Spanish novels, which present interesting and similar points of view, however important differences. It is pretended searching how the materials have been treated in similar ways, as well as how it has been looked for the narrative strategies that have allowed creating singular novels. Historical and lyrical novels, bildungsroman, even tales, will have influenced in these last ones along the past twentieth century.

Salgado de Dios, Josep Francesc 29 May 2009 (has links)
Between 1960 and 1978 Manuel Vázquez Montalbán starts to make a professional name for himself in the press. He studies journalism and works in two publications of the Movement', but a stay in prison for a political crime forces him to start over again in 1965. On leaving prison he chooses to analyse international information (Siglo20, Tele/eXpres) and in the uncertain political environment of late francoism moves towards working as a political columnist (Triunfo, Arreu, Mundo Diario) and those newspaper that established themselves during the transition period (La Calle, El Periódico). Humour is the common denominator during this phase (Hogares Modernos, Triunfo, Por Favor, Interviú), sociological stories (Triunfo) and the prevalence of fiction, the resources with which Vázquez Montalbán works during the early 70s, when he speaks through invented characters and false signatures until he could eventually do so with no holds barred once the 1966 Press Law is repealed. He lives journalism to the full spending all day in newsrooms and being fully involved in all the problems and stresses of the profession and even edits some magazines. After 1979, after winning the Planeta Prize he reduces his commitment to journalism to make space for narrative fiction.

January 1998 (has links)
The thesis focuses on two letters written by Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz: The "Carta Atenagorica" (1690) and The "Respuesta a sor Filotea" (1691), as well as on the "Carta de sor Filotea de la Cruz a sor Juana Ines de la Cruz" (1690), written by Manuel Fernandez de Santa Cruz, bishop of Puebla. The "Respuesta a sor Filotea," inspired by the "Carta de sor Filotea," presents an elaborated defence of the "Carta Atenagorica" and the right to discuss theological principles that the author claims on her behalf. / The thesis was inspired by the main theme of the "Respuesta a sor Filotea" as well as the polemical content of the other two letters. The introduction briefly presents the historical context in which the polemic took place. It also explains the objectives of the thesis and comments some of the critical work related to this theme. Neo-Latin America : the poetics of the "New World" in early modern epic : studies in José Manuel Peramás's 'De Invento Novo Orbe Inductoque Illuc Christi Sacrificio' (Faenza 1777)

Feile Tomes, Maya Caterina January 2018 (has links)
This is an investigation of the epic poetry produced in and about the Ibero-American world during the early modern period (sixteenth to eighteenth centuries) in trilingual perspective: in addition to the more familiar Spanish- and Portuguese-language texts, consideration is also––and, for the purposes of the thesis, above all––given to material in Latin. Latin was the third of the international literary languages of the Iberian imperial world; it is also by far the most neglected, having fallen between the cracks of modern disciplinary boundaries in their current configurations. The thesis seeks to rehabilitate the Latin-language component as a fully-fledged member of the Ibero-American epic tradition, arguing that it demands to be analysed with reference not only to the classical and classicising traditions but to those same themes and concerns––in this case, the centre|periphery binary––as are investigated for counterparts when in Spanish or Portuguese. The crucial difference is that––while the ends may be the same––the means of thematising these issues derive in form and signifying power from interactions with the conceptual vocabularies and frameworks of the Greco-Roman epic tradition. How is America represented and New World space figured––even produced––in a poetic idiom first developed by ancient Mediterranean cultures with no conception whatsoever of the continent of the western hemisphere? At the core is one such long neglected Ibero-American Latin-language epic by a figure who lived across the Iberian imperial world: the 'De Invento Novo Orbe Inductoque Illuc Christi Sacrificio' (Faenza, 1777) by Catalan-born Jesuit José Manuel Peramás. Peramás’s epic––which has never been the subject of a literary-critical study before––is offered as a test case: an exercise in analysing a Latin-language Hispanic epic qua Hispanic epic and setting it into Ibero-American literary-cultural context. This is to be understood in relation to the field of so-called ‘New World poetics’: an at present emergent zone of inquiry within Iberian colonial studies which until now has been developing almost completely without reference to the Latin-language portion of the corpus.
