Muller, Paulo Ricardo January 2015 (has links)
This thesis analyzes representations of the Angolan province of Cabinda as a place defined by multiple mediations and characterizations of its social, political, economic, and cultural vocation, constructed in disputes for its embedding in distinct colonial and postcolonial projects. Through the analysis of ethnographic material produced in fieldworks conducted in Cabinda, I observed the ways different interlocutors presented their “reality” by assessing and interpreting practices and symbols viewed as traditional. The imperative of disclosing Cabinda traditions stems from a discourse of “cultural desolation” in the province constructed in concur with the evincing of its colonial situation. However, different social actors use representations of Cabinda mediated by colonial views as sources for the recognition of the work of disclosing traditions made by ancestors. The argument of this thesis is that this “use” of colonial representations constitutes a postcolonial perspective on the concept of tradition.

Völker, Lizbeth Karoline Mallet January 2014 (has links)
This dissertation proposes a literature work already acted in three groups of eighth-graders in a private school in Porto Alegre. The main objective of this proposal is to create conditions for the ripening of the young reader, qualifying the reading from joints between their readings outside (the best-sellers) school environment with the classics indicated by the teacher. For this, the classroom was conceived as a space of research and from that experience, it was possible to see that the practice of literary literacy, if founded in design, is likely to be effective. The elaborate activities were divided into four stages: motivation, introduction, reading and interpretation. These steps and their results are discussed and analyzed. Experience shows how it is possible to work on educating readers, to expand his repertoire and the development of critical skills from the readings made spontaneously.

Arenas públicas, participação e mediação social

Bracagioli Neto, Alberto January 2014 (has links)
The existing demodiversity indicates a series of procedures and practices to create greater symmetry among the actors, autonomy, increased participation, and representation of the farmers. Participatory methods have not had widespread use, but where the use of these tools has been internalized by technicians and farmers, an impact on group processes was observed. Social mediations have demonstrated strong influence on the dynamics of the Councils, and the relationship established has allowed the emergence of relations of empowerment, guardianship or autonomy, which result from interventions and dynamic interactions between the actors. To continue and deepen this study, we have perceived the theoretical contribution of social networks, which allow the understanding of the relationships among mediation, foreclosure, weak and strong ties, and the potential of each of these configurations in the performance of public arenas. / This work aimed to study public arenas composed of the Municipal Councils of Rural Development, the mediation action of EMATER-RS among other actors, and the influence of public policies to encourage social participation. Through this objective the central categories of analysis are highlighted: public arenas, participation, and social mediation. An exploratory study at the state level, focus groups in certain regions, and non-directive interviews with actors involved in the Councils of Arroio do Meio, Montenegro and Osorio were used as methodological resources. The architecture of participation in federal and state levels has promoted a series of institutional arrangements for citizen participation. EMATER-RS operates in various public arenas, especially in the Municipal Rural Development Councils and Municipal Councils of Social Welfare. In the rural context, the Municipal Councils of Rural Development (CMDR) had an emphasis on rural extension and certain public policies. The information obtained indicates that currently only a small percentage of the CMDR has effective functioning, but the existing ones point out some possibilities for the democratic construction.

Rodrigues, Lisete Pôrto January 2015 (has links)
This research had as context the Continuing Formation Course in Information Technologies and Accessible Communication, developed by the Information Technology Center in Special Education (NIEE) and by the Interdisciplinary Centre of New Technologies in Education, both of the Rio Grande do Sul’s Federal University (UFRGS), in partnership with the Department of Continuing Education, Literacy, Diversity and Inclusion (SECADI) and the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE) of Brasil’s Education Ministry (MEC). The present work, as part of the “Study on the process of mediation between PCD - in Digital Inclusion Communities“ research project, approved by the CNPQ 2009-2017 e by the PROPES Q/UFRGS, has looked upon the mediation process between pair subjects with the same kind of deficiency – Basic Education teachers and tutors – in course of distance formation, through Virtual Apprenticeship Environment, to understand how occurs this mediation process. With the vigotskyan referential and following the reference scheme – ZDP Stages x Mediation Modalities – organized by Santarosa (2004), observations, analysis and categorization of the mediations occurred in the interaction dynamics between tutors and teachers-students were made, in the process of distance formation, characterizing this study as a qualitative / quantitative, descriptive, in case study format. It is find, at the end of the research, that the most used modality was the Feedback, followed by Information, both of Smooth Support, and in third place the Questioning, predominating the Moderate Support. The results showed that the interaction processes between PCDs pairs can be utilize with success in virtual classrooms, adding gains in the knowledge appropriation, as well as providing a labor camp to that ones. Socialize this inclusive process also is one of this research dimensions.

Severo, Carlos Emilio Padilla January 2011 (has links)
This research presents the specification, development and employ of a system to mapping evidences of mediation on Virtual Learning Enviroments – VLE. This system aims to support the mediation process to teachers who develop educational activities related to distance education, aimed at reducing the workload of the teacher during the identification and attendance of the mediations evolution in the environment. For this, we use techniques of text mining with the employ of bayesian inference mechanisms to identify mediations categories from the users interactions in the online course. The system validation and evaluation of results were performed through a case study applied to a discipline of graduate course of the UFRGS about Computers in Education. The data used in this research were achieved from the interactions stored in the Moodle virtual learning environment of the Interdisciplinary Center of New Technologies in the Education. During the investigation were selected students from the discipline to interactions mapping. With the interactions mapping and identification of the mediations categories for each student were created graphics and reports with informations about mediation process. The mediation categories aid to identify levels of mediation. In analyzing the results, the information obtained from such graphs and reports were triangulated with information from an interview with the tutor and the vision of the researcher involved in the case study. The results shown that the use of a system to mapping evidences of mediation in virtual learning environments, with the choice of the text mining technology makes it possible to identify levels of mediation of the participants of a course in the distance modality.

Le négatif à l’œuvre dans le processus adolescent / The negative at work in the adolescent process

Jourdan-Peyrony, Jessica 01 December 2017 (has links)
This research proposes to explore different therapeutic scenes (psychodrama, institutional psychotherapy, therapeutic mediations based on the making / staging of masks and body expression) in order to analyse the work of the Negative – from the oppositional pole to the absence of representation (blankness) and its consequences on the Adolescent Process. It will be assumed that being receptive to adolescents’ negative, destructive movements as well as to formlessness or blankness expressions enables the therapist, through their elaboration via the process of creation, to support and accompany the process of subjectivation. We will address the identificatory reorganisation, the subjective appropriation which pass through the body and the analysis of the countertransference in order to better understand the adolescent problem when the therapist is in the position of a malleable medium. In reference to the photographic negative found in Freud and Anzieu’s work, attention will be paid to the modelling of psychic envelopes together with the destiny of the drives, more precisely in the attachment to the Negative. The work of the Negative will be analysed according to the frame proposed by Winnicott and taken up by Roussillon : Destructivity, Reflexivity, Creativity and Subjectivation. Three potential figures of the Negative will be embodied in the mask , destructivity and obesity. In order to better grasp the intrapersonal and intersubjective issues at stake, we will also consider the Figure of the Double in the identifications as well as the narcissistic-objectal axis as it was theorized by Jeammet. The groupal dimension will also be analysed in relation to Negativity.

Estimating Causal Direct and Indirect Effects in the Presence of Post-Treatment Confounders: A Simulation Study

January 2013 (has links)
abstract: In investigating mediating processes, researchers usually use randomized experiments and linear regression or structural equation modeling to determine if the treatment affects the hypothesized mediator and if the mediator affects the targeted outcome. However, randomizing the treatment will not yield accurate causal path estimates unless certain assumptions are satisfied. Since randomization of the mediator may not be plausible for most studies (i.e., the mediator status is not randomly assigned, but self-selected by participants), both the direct and indirect effects may be biased by confounding variables. The purpose of this dissertation is (1) to investigate the extent to which traditional mediation methods are affected by confounding variables and (2) to assess the statistical performance of several modern methods to address confounding variable effects in mediation analysis. This dissertation first reviewed the theoretical foundations of causal inference in statistical mediation analysis, modern statistical analysis for causal inference, and then described different methods to estimate causal direct and indirect effects in the presence of two post-treatment confounders. A large simulation study was designed to evaluate the extent to which ordinary regression and modern causal inference methods are able to obtain correct estimates of the direct and indirect effects when confounding variables that are present in the population are not included in the analysis. Five methods were compared in terms of bias, relative bias, mean square error, statistical power, Type I error rates, and confidence interval coverage to test how robust the methods are to the violation of the no unmeasured confounders assumption and confounder effect sizes. The methods explored were linear regression with adjustment, inverse propensity weighting, inverse propensity weighting with truncated weights, sequential g-estimation, and a doubly robust sequential g-estimation. Results showed that in estimating the direct and indirect effects, in general, sequential g-estimation performed the best in terms of bias, Type I error rates, power, and coverage across different confounder effect, direct effect, and sample sizes when all confounders were included in the estimation. When one of the two confounders were omitted from the estimation process, in general, none of the methods had acceptable relative bias in the simulation study. Omitting one of the confounders from estimation corresponded to the common case in mediation studies where no measure of a confounder is available but a confounder may affect the analysis. Failing to measure potential post-treatment confounder variables in a mediation model leads to biased estimates regardless of the analysis method used and emphasizes the importance of sensitivity analysis for causal mediation analysis. / Dissertation/Thesis / Ph.D. Psychology 2013

Connecting Pain Intensity to Work Goal and Lifestyle Goal Progress: Examining Mediation and Moderation Using Multi-Level Modeling

January 2014 (has links)
abstract: The present study examined the association of pain intensity and goal progress in a community sample of 132 adults with chronic pain who participated in a 21 day diary study. Multilevel modeling was employed to investigate the effect of morning pain intensity on evening goal progress as mediated by pain's interference with afternoon goal pursuit. Moderation effects of pain acceptance and pain catastrophizing on the associations between pain and interference with both work and lifestyle goal pursuit were also tested. The results showed that the relationship between morning pain and pain's interference with work goal pursuit in the afternoon was significantly moderated by a pain acceptance. In addition, it was found that the mediated effect differed across levels of pain acceptance; that is: (1) there was a significant mediation effect when pain acceptance was at its mean and one standard deviation below the mean; but (2) there was no mediation effect when pain acceptance was one standard deviation above the mean. It appears that high pain acceptance significantly attenuates the power of nociception in disrupting one's work goal pursuit. However, in the lifestyle goal model, none of the moderators were significant nor was there a significant association between pain interference with goal pursuit and goal progress. Only morning pain intensity significantly predicted afternoon interference with lifestyle goal pursuit. Further interpretation of the present findings and potential explanations of those inconsistencies are elaborated on discussion. Limitations and the clinical implication of the current study were considered, along with suggestions for future studies. / Dissertation/Thesis / M.A. Psychology 2014

The translators of change : from the integration of rural young to the management of nature : the forms of Environmental Education within the ULAMIR-CPIE of the Morlaix countryside (1974 – 2017)

Toupet, Joy 11 January 2018 (has links)
This thesis aims, from a social and historical perspective, at analyzing a coordination of stakeholders dedicated to environmental education, to the local implementation of ecological-oriented public measures. This coordination of stakeholders is studied as a network from which awareness actions are carried out, in order to make the social mobilisation around these measures more efficient. The reflection is based on a field survey conducted in Finistère (France) around, in particular, the action of the Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives (CPIE) of Morlaix. The hypothesis of this work is based on the existence of a link between the professional legacy of this network and its current practices. The first level of analysis explores the process through which this network, grounded in sociocultural awakening of rural youth, transforms itself to the point of developing environmental management actions. The second level of analysis concerns the translation, in the local area, of a public device for managing biodiversity, named “Trame Verte et Bleue”. The study of this translation highlights that it is not so much the ecological dimensions contained in the device that dialogue and social link that are pursued in redefining environmental patterns of local planning. The thesis shows that if, throughout more than forty years of existence, the CPIE changes significantly around the subject of its action, its practices of mediation continue to include the local territory and its inhabitants in broader socio-political configurations, as was formerly the case. More generally, this research contributes to better understand, at the same time, the way of a network stakeholders continuously reconfigures itself from a succession of contexts and the role it plays in the territorialisation of environmental public action
