In the case of patient information leaflets, typography and its bad articulation can result in an inefficient readability and thus the misunderstanding of the information contained therein (Hammerschmidt, 2014, p. 218). Therefore it is understood that the research in question is relevant because it seeks to understand how the typographic articulation adopted in the mobile application MedSUS impacts on reading the patient information leaflets and comprehension. For this, a usability test was performed with smartphone with regular users (patients) in order to evaluate the readability and readability of texts found in the medication package inserts. A cooperative evaluation was then carried out with technical users (medical) to find relevant problems related to the MedSUS application interface. As a result, there was an improvement of satisfaction of regular users regarding the use of the application with the improved typographic aspects and the technical users evaluated as being of low utility the application in question for the use in medical care. Finally, recommendations are presented for the use of typography in the presentation of texts of drug inserts in mobile application MedSUS.

REST API & Mobile Application

Grimberg, Marcus, Nord, Ludwig January 2019 (has links)
DH Anticounterfeit, a company working against counterfeit products, has a mobile application that lacks a proper back-end system to handle and store DH Anticounterfeits data. There are plenty of ways to go about to x this problem, but this thesis is focused on the development of a REST API that will be replacing the non-existent system. The main goal is to create the API and run it within a containerized environment using Docker. The whole system should run on Amazon Web Services, that will be working as a server to keep the system going at all times. Nowadays, security is important due to plenty of ways to attack a system, which is why security and authorization will be a high priority. The result will be a well-functioning, high security system that uses MongoDB database to store and process data in a secure way.

Mobile phone based remote monitoring system

Liu, Danyi January 2008 (has links)
This thesis investigates embedded databases and graphical interfaces for the MicroBaseJ project. The project aim is the development of an integrated database and GUI user interface for a typical 3G, or 2.5G, mobile phone with Java MIDP2 capability. This includes methods for data acquisition, mobile data and information communication, data management, and remote user interface. Support of phone delivered informatics will require integrated server and networking infrastructure research and development to support effective and timely delivery of data for incorporation in mobile device-based informatics applications. A key research and development (R&D) challenge is to support effective and timely delivery of data for incorporation in mobile device-based informatics applications. Another important aspect of the project is determining how to develop efficient graphics for the small mobile screen. The research investigates and analyses the architecture of a mobile monitoring system. The project developed a generic solution that can be implemented in a number of commercial sectors, such as horticulture, building management and pollution/water management. The developed concept is tested using data relevant to the horticultural area of application. The system also addresses the main issues related to mobile monitoring, including real-time response, data integrity, solution cost, graphical presentation, and persistent storage capabilities of modern mobile devices. Four embedded databases based on J2ME have been investigated. Two of the four have been evaluated and analysed. The Insert function, Sequence Search, and Random Search of Perst List and RMS (Record Management System) databases have been tested. The size of the processed data was limited to 20,000 records when using the wireless toolkit simulator, and 11,000 records when using a mobile phone. Perst Lite reflects good performance and has out-performed RMS in all tests. User interface software such as J2ME Polish for mobile phones has been investigated. Custom J2ME class for graphical interface is developed. This provides the graphical presentation of the data collected from the sensors; including temperature, wind speed, wind direction, moisture, and leaf wetness. The graphical interface, bar charts, and line charts with trace ball for collected data have been designed and implemented. The embedded database performance and project performance have been investigated and analysed. The performances of Perst Lite and RMS are evaluated in terms of the insert, sequence search, and random search functions based on simulation and real devices. The record numbers vary from 1,000 to 20,000. The project performance contains data receiving and storage, and data presentation and configuration. The performance of data storage and configuration can be negated due to the running mode and the response time. Thus, data presenting performance is the key focus in this project. This performance was divided into the categories of initial, data search, data selection, and charting. The initial performance includes the initialisation of the project parameters, and the reaching of the welcome interface. Data search performance refers to the retrieval of the specified data from the embedded database, measured on 48 data points, which only can be presented on the mobile screen from the retrieved data. These four performance types are measured in thousands of record numbers, varying from 1,000 to 18,000 record numbers, with the retrieved data range varying from 1 day to 30 days.

Mobilapplikationsanvändning bland ungdomar i Karlstad : Pris före funktion? / Mobile Application Usage among Young People in Karlstad : Price before Function?

Laapotti, Jenni January 2013 (has links)
In this thesis investigated the usage of free mobile application among young people. Factors that influence the usage are highlighted and the influence of each factor is explained in comparison to the other influencing factors. The difference between the usage of free mobile applications and applications that cost is also emphasized due to this comparison.A qualitative study was done with two focus groups where the disjunctive factor for the two groups was income. The respondents discussed in groups different themes in the context mobile application usage. Examples of themes discussed are price, normative pressure and attitude. The results of the group interviews was interpreted and analyzed through an interpretative framework of business economic theories. The framework is largely based on a model of mobile application usage intention (Nysveen et al. 2005a), a theory of price search behavior (Darke et al. 1995) and a theory of ethical decision making (Tan 2002).Some of the contributing conclusions of the study are that the most prominent influent factors are price, normative pressure and perceived usefulness and that there exists a difference between theory and the real influencing factors of the respondents. This study and its conclusions contribute with new knowledge of consumer behavior and can be used for further research or as a source of inspiration for strategy elaboration.

Design av Mobila Gränssnitt : Mobila Turistapplikationer

Johansson, Mattias, Andersson, Linus January 2005 (has links)
The implementation of the third generation of mobile networks (3G) has led to a creation of new areas of use within mobile services. Increased capacity of the bandwidth has made it possible to send a considerable amount more data than in the predecessors of 3G. It has also led to new services within 3G. One area which is under development is mobile tourism information. Mobila Guiden is a mobile tourismapplication which TelecomCity, Karlskrona, has developed. It is a guide over the world heritage in the city which is presented on a 3G mobile phone. The user is presented with a map over Karlskrona City on a mobile phone with different points of interest. These points include information in the form of text, pictures and sound about the object.</p><p>Certain negative aspects regarding mobile phones surface under the discussion. The screens on mobile phones are relatively small which makes information presentation complicated. It is hard to design the user interface for applications so that the users becomes satisfied. Within the computer industry, Human Computer Interaction and other areas concerning user interface has been studied, but when it comes to the small screens of mobile phones the research is not that widespread.</p><p>The aim of this report is that from a user perspective, analyze and identify how a mobile application for the 3G-network that presents tourism information should be designed to satisfy user needs. We focus on that applications of this kind in the future should appeal to a broad customer base. The result of this report will give normative knowledge and be regarded as an academic contribution in the future development of information presentation in mobile networks.</p><p>Our investigation began with a study regarding existing literature. Thereafter a case study with qualitative interviews relating to Mobila Guiden in Karlskrona took place along with a focus group meeting later on. We finally used a survey to get quantitative data regarding opinions of the user interface of the application. The results of the empirical study were then analyzed in relation to appropriate theories.</p><p>A mobile tourism application must present a broad range of information to satisfy the users, for example: a map with sights worth seeing, restaurants, hotels and happenings. The usability should consist of the creation of a dialogue between the application and the user. The user must receive feedback and information on how to use the application. The choice of colour should be taken under consideration since the screen size makes it imperative that the user interface is clear and easy to understand. It should also be possible to make individual adjustments regarding the speed of a picture slideshow, font size and sound.</p>

Analyse, Konzeption und Entwicklung einer mobilen Kartenanwendung auf Basis des Wanderkalenders der Sächsischen Zeitung

Hauthal, Eva 31 May 2011 (has links) (PDF)
Mobile cartography makes use of mobile internet and the civil utilisation of the GPS signal. The resulting mobility of the user as well as technical restrictions of mobile devices (such as low processor performance, small display sizes and limited battery life) has to be taken into account in the form of an adaption of mobile maps. The adaption is carried out with regard to the current need for information which can be derived from the context of the user (i.e. spatial-temporal situation, interests, task, circumstances, aims, needs etc). Another aspect of mobile cartography is user generated content. The permanent availability of mobile internet as well as the uncomplicated way of location determination makes it easy for amateur users to gather and publish own data. So the cartographer backs out and provides expert knowledge in the form of base maps, software and interaction techniques that can be used by the map user as an user interface for integrating own data. Thereby traditional cartographic communication models require a fundamental further development because a strict separation into map maker and map user can not be made anymore. The diploma thesis introduces a derived cartographic communication model for mobile interactive maps. An application field of mobile cartography are mobile map applications in tourism. These touristic applications are an up-to-date kind of travelling service in the century of mobile technology and information. In the context of this diploma thesis several existing touristic applications for smartphones for were examined and an own mobile application for hiking in Saxon Switzerland was conceived and implemented prototypically. This application suggests hiking trips, provides various information as well as maps and is based on a hiking calendar that is worked out annually by cartography students of Dresden University of Technology.
