EnterMedic, an E-health application for telemonitoring and health status feedback : Development of a mobile healthcare tool and research about its usage in the field of E-health

Larsson, Sebastian, Sulaiman, Leif January 2020 (has links)
Digital tools are being implemented in every area of society. Digital healthcare, or E-health, is an area that is increasing in popularity with various mobile applications and online services available. Entergate, a company based in Halmstad, has developed a service called EnterMedic. It is a cloud service that collects data from patients through online questionnaires. Once submitted, the service can directly forward data from these questionnaires to patient journals. EnterMedic also helps researchers with data to develop effective work methods in healthcare. The service was however limited to the web. This thesis consists of developing a mobile version of the service as it is more convenient to use compared to a web-based one and research contributing to what E-health applications can be used for. Interactivity is a desired feature for applications. EnterMedic will provide the users with feedback after questionnaire submissions, to help them track their state of health.

Perceptions of an EBP Module Mobile Application by New Graduate Nurses

Carlson, Kristin Wilson 01 January 2018 (has links)
Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a key driver of care and advancements within nursing. It is essential to emphasize EBP early in a nurse's career to promote inquisitive minds and enthusiasm for seeking evidence. The purpose of this project was to implement an EBP mobile app into a nurse residency program (NRP) to improve the process of providing EBP information and resources to new graduate nurses. The intent of the project was to leverage mobile technology to engage new graduate nurses in evidence-based practice. Roger's diffusion of innovation framework guided the project. The target audience for the project was 16 new graduate RNs participating in a health system's NRP who attend the EBP module and were required to complete an EBP project. The EBP module was provided during a classroom lecture and the mobile application was downloaded. After using the EBP module, all attendees were sent an electronic survey with open-ended questions related to the mobile application. Responses were reviewed to identify patterns. Survey responses reflected that a 50% did not utilize the mobile application. However, those that did use the mobile application (50%) found it useful and had a positive perception of the mobile application. Continued use of the mobile application and promotion of the mobile application for new graduate nurses may help with their own personal development of an EBP project. Ultimately, allowing nurses to effectively integrate nursing research into practice and impact patient care quality. This project impacted social change by empowering new nurses with knowledge and information related to evidence based practice and allowed for increased information to be accessible to a large audience of new graduate nurses.

Applikationen Natural Cycles’ effektivitet som preventivmedel hos fertila kvinnor / The application Natural Cycles' effectiveness as a contraceptive in fertile women

Tullberg, Camilla January 2021 (has links)
There are many different contraceptive methods for women and one of the most common are the combined hormonal birth control pills. Many women want to avoid hormonal contraceptive methods to prevent pregnancy. Interesting alternatives to hormonal contraceptives have emerged in recent years, and one of these is the mobile application Natural Cycles, which is based on fertility awareness. Existing studies are available that examine the effectiveness of Natural Cycles as a contraceptive.   The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the application Natural Cycles as a contraceptive, by comparing the Pearl index and the probability of becoming pregnant after a certain number of cycles of existing studies and also examine demographic which Natural Cycles is best suited for. This study is organized as a literature study, in which five scientific articles were analyzed. The studies were obtained from the database PubMed and Google Scholar and show that the effectiveness of Natural Cycles with a typical-use Pearl Index is between 6,1-7,0. This shows that Natural Cycles' effectiveness as a contraceptive is as good as e.g. combined hormonal birth control pills, but poorer compared to e.g. hormonal intrauterine device. The probability of pregnancy after a 13-cycle period for Natural Cycles was estimated to 6.3–8.3%. Natural Cycles is best suited for women around the age of 30, who are in a relationship, have a higher education and who have previously used a condom as a contraceptive. It should be borne in mind that all studies examined in this work have been sponsored by Natural Cycles, which may have affected the results. More research is needed for a longer period and for greater diversity, and to do studies that are not sponsored by Natural Cycles.
